Changing RDBMS Server for Hyperion Essbase

Hello All,
We have installed and configured 11.1.2.2.100(Essbase, EIS, Studio, Shared Services) on Windows 2008 32-bit Server successfully.
Everything went fine and all products are working.
Now we changed the RDBMS Server for Hyperion Essbase and ran the configuration once again with new RDBMS server with "Reuse existing tables" option.
H1
| First    Current
DB1  ->  DB2
From that time we are unable to access the essbase server.
We were able to see the users in Shared Services. All users able to login to Shared Services, EAS but problem with Essbase.
In HSS_Component table found old server name in two places, we have updated the old DB server name to Current DB server name.
When we try accessing essbase we are getting the below error(tried with hostname, ip address, EssbaseCluster1 as Essbase server)
Network error [10061]: Failed to connect to [Server Name:1423]
Error: 103: Unexpected Essbase error 1030818
Error: 1042006: Network error [10061]: Failed to connect to [[ServerName]:1423]
Error: 1030818: Login failed. Please check if server and port are correct. If you received timeout or handshake failure,
please check if you tried to connect to secure port without secure keyword or clear port with secure keyword.
Please help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
Prathap

It is extremely important that you know what you are doing before touching the shared services registry and the correct way is not to update tables, it is to use the epmsys_registry utility.
To be honest you may have screwed up the registry and that is something I am not going to get involved in, try discussing with Oracle what you have just done.
If it is only the rdbms servername changing (not the essbase server) then you should follow the instructions in the documentation - Changing the Shared Services and Registry Database Connection Information and Password

Dear all, Do anyone know the difference between and impact on Solaris 8 (32/64-bit) for Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server Release 6.5.4?Thanks for your help!Regards,Zero Lai

I do not think wired will even work with the 6.x runtimes. Your only real option is to put off the move untill you can manage the a6.5 upgrade.

  • Creating data server for Hyperion Shared Services (HSS)

    Hey Gang,
Has anyone had experience in creating a Data Server for Hyperion Shared Services (HSS) using the java API? I know HSS uses Native Directory, but to be compliant the Hyperion folks recommend using the java API strictly to get access to the users, groups, etc.
Anyone have experience with this, or perhaps at least how to get ODI to kick off a java file to pull the data needed? What effort would be needed in ODI, is it straight forward or would I have to develop a technology or something to integrate into ODI?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply John. I am trying to get user and group information, and also doing some complex manipulation. I need this to verify user access and some other stuff. I will not always have access to HSS and cannot always export the information, thus the need to use the HSS java API.
I'm trying to pull it out of HSS and put it into an Oracle table in a standard format where I'll use the information and do reporting off of it. I've developed a java class that does migrates the data over, but its crude and I'd like to move it into ODI with some of our projects that are currently doing the same thing with other ERP such as Ebiz and Peoplesoft.
If I can recode some of the java in ODI, how would I go about doing that. Where would I include the libraries, etc.? is there a tutorial or a place where I can get started on that.
    Thanks for all the help.

  • License File for Hyperion Essbase Release 7.1.6.7 Server window

I have to install Hyperion Essbase Release 7.1.6.7 Server windows on window2003. Have been locking for the license file for this version on l"http://licensecodes.oracle.com/hyperion.html". However could not locate the file for the respective Essbase version. Can anyone kindly let me know from where can I download the license file.
    Thanks in advance.
    Pragati

I think the docs are just out of date/incorrect (fancy that).
    Per http://licensecodes.oracle.com/hyperion.html:
    Essbase
    6.0 - 7.0      11 000000 263A639A-FFE AD52863F
    7.1 - 7.1.1      11 000000 463A639A-FFE AF528631
    7.1.2 - 7.1.6.3 Click here for options
7.1.6.5      NoneI clicked on the "Click here" link and went to: http://licensecodes.oracle.com/hyperion_essbase.html
And on that page I see:
Alternately, you may download and install Essbase 7.1.6.5 available from Oracle E-Delivery. You can locate this software and corresponding documentation by selecting the Hyperion Performance Management BI product pack and the appropriate operating system. Search results will display the Pre-Version 9 media pack which includes the 7.1.6.5 software. This fix does not require a license file.Note the last sentence -- you are free and clear of license files.
I always wondered where people were getting copies of 7.1.x -- apparently there's a pre-version media pack -- I had no idea.

  • Changing POP-server for incoming mail Yosemite

I just installed Yosemite. Now I got an e-mail from my mail provider that I needed to change the pop server for that account. When I go via mail/perferences/accounts to my settings, I can edit all the fields except the field "incoming mail server"  that is grayed out. How to change that?

Contact your mail provider to make sure the incoming and outgoing mail server for the account is correct.

  • Multiple Managed Server for Hyperion Planning in 11.1.2.2

    Hi All,
I was going through some online documnetation/new features on Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2 and came to know that from an architecture standpoint we can now have multiple Planning Managed Servers in a cluster thereby making it truly Highly Available.
I have done a standard deployment and can see a cluster for Planning with a single managed server Planning0 in weblogic admin console.
Can any one please provide me insight/documnetation as what steps needs to be done to create multiple planning managed server in 11.1.2.2.
    Thanks
    Perwez

    Thanks John.
I was not looking for something which is scaling out Hyperion Planning(via load balancer)/Horizontal clustering.
But was looking for some thing like Vertical clustering(multiple JVMs/nodes of Hyperion Planning within a single planning server) which was applicable in 11.1.1.3.
Came to know that with 11.1.2.2 vertical clustering not more supported.
    Thanks

  • Changing Host/Server for an EBS form Load script

I am trying to create load scripts which can be reused. I"m having issues with the New Journals and New Invoices functionality. For some reason I cannot convert or change a load script for either of these processes for a new server (HTTP address). I am able to do this convert for Inquiry of Journals and invoices fine. so it has to be something to do with adding new data. Does anyone have any knowledge or know of any tips for doing this? I really would prefer not having to record multiple scripts, one for each environment.

Just thought I would report back on this as I have managed to test the provisioning script with the 'network profile' option at last:
After using 'network profile' in the networking / interface setup of the boot interface, and running the provisioning script - the following occurs:
    1) /etc/dhcpd.conf is updated on the staging server to reflect all MAC addresses entered in
    2) The network profile auto allocates hostnames / IP addresses for each MAC address - again these are entered for each host in dhcpd.conf
    3) Each host is set to take filename "/pxelinux.0"; even if the path to the boot directory is set to "linux-install/pxelinux.0" in (Infrastructure/Boot configuration) - manual change is required.
So from a dhcpd.conf - it all looked very promising apart from the pxelinux.0 change....
However, after the provisioning install had completed, the hostname did not end up as that which was set in dhcpd.conf - but again - a combination of 'ovs-MAC'.
In addition /etc/hosts on the newly provisioned OVM server was not updated to reflect the host name either. This is a problem as it's very important to have a correctly formatted /etc/hosts for OVM to actually work.
The only good news is that the IP address that was set in the network profile (and set in dhcpd.conf) did end up being the IP of the new OVM servers configuration - so the network profile is actually working.
And the dhcpd.conf file is actually being updated to reflect the auto pattern / iterative hostname naming.
So I don't understand why the IP setting worked, but the hostname did not......
It's not really workable to have your Oracle VM servers hostname set as 'ovs-MAC' - you just can't remember which server is what.... especially as it's not possible to change it afterwards.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

  • Change Directory server for Portal Server 6.2

    Hi there,
I have the following problem with Portal Server 6.2 configuration which hopefully someone here will be able to help me with.
Basically our current setup is the Sun Portal Server 6.2, ID server 6.1 and Directory server all sitting on one (Solaris 9) box. We now wish to separate the Portal / ID server components and the Directory Server component to separate boxes. In portal server 6.0 i think there was a pssetup tool which allowed configuration of a directory server which populated it with the necessary data for portal and ID server. The directory server we will be installing to will not necessarily be a clean install, i.e. it may already be populated with data.
Is there some way therefore to re-configure the existing directory server to allow us to point our portal / ID server at it?
Thanks in advance for any help
    Laurence.

This can be done. You need to import the portal/identity server's schema into your new directory server and then export your existing directory server's content and import it into the new one.

  • Hyperion Essbase Best Practices Document...

    Hi All,
Is there any document out there that has the best practices for Hyperion Essbase development? I am looking for methodologies, naming conventions and such information. Wondering if there is any such doc with Hyperion Essbase Guru's that outlines the best approaches for Essbase-outline development with it . Searching this forum with the string "best practice" yields a lot of threads on specific issues, but couldn't find any document.
    Any pointer is most appreciated.
    Regards,
    Upendra.

    Various consulting organizations have different
guidelines, each with their own strengths and
weaknesses. To get them to cough it up without
bringing them in for a paid project might be
difficult, but not impossible.I agree with Doug here.. Many of these consulting companies have developed their best practices over a number of years and view them as a competitive advantage over the other consulting firms. I would be highly surprised if you managed to get ahold of such a document very easily.
That being said, those same consultants share information here in bits and pieces, so you can learn at least some of the best practices here (along with best practice tips from consultants/developers/customers who don't have an 'official' best practices guide)..
