Changing resolution settings in OfficeJet

Hi everyone.
I'm scanning a few old family pictures, size is approximately 5x3 inch.
The scanned picture I get is very small, 900x600 give or take.
I need to print those pictures in a photobook and this size is way too small.
Is there a way to get bigger pictures?
I tried to increase the resolution, up to 9600, but the result is the same.
Thank you.

  • Changing Resolution Settings Within Project

    Hi Guys,
    Ok, here's my problem.....
I have captured my footage at 1920 x 1080 25fps and 48Khz with my Canon DSLR and imported it into my FCP project.  I deliberately created my sequence settings at 1280 x 720 25fps as this was to be the output format and when I added the 1920 footage to the timeline, FCP asks me nicely if I would like to change the sequence settings to match the footage - to which I politely decline (mistake, I know now...)
This had the effect of scaling down my 1920 footage to 1280, which was fine.  The issue I now have is when I want to export it as a reference movie for DVD creation, it takes hours as the reference movie is taking the settings from the project, which is 1280 x 720 and my footage is still 1920, which means lots of re-rendering to do.  Took me ages to figure out why the ref movies were taking so long to export!
So I have been trying to figure out a way to somehow change all of my completed timeline that consists of 1920 x 1080 footage downscaled to fit in my 1280 x 720 timeline back to full 1920.  Still with me??
I have tried manually resizing the individual clips using their Motion tab (they are at 66.6% now as they are squeezed into a 1280 x 720 timeline) back to 100% which works, but leaves me with e green proxy render bar above the clip.  The same happens when I copy and paste the footage into a fresh sequence set to match the clip at 1920 - green proxy render bar and loads of rendering time.
So if there is any way I can grab my completed, edited timeline and somehow revert it and the footage back to full 1920 resolution, it would save me a load of time in rendering and output!
    Anyone any ideas??

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for youe suggestion.  I did just that an the only discrepancy I can see between the footage and sequence settings seems to be in the audio format.  The sequence is 32 bit floating point whilst the footage is 16 bit integer.
I can's imagine this will be the problem as if I start a new project and use the full 1980 clips,  I can export reference files no problem.

  • Changing resolution settings

I have film that is 1920x1080 and is very good quality. I don't want people to only be able to play this in a hd player, but I want to preserve the quality. I have 8.5gb discs (enough to accommodate the film 7.5gb). When I set the settings to sd however, you can only choose one resolution setting. I want this to look good on a 40 inch screen and don't want to lose quality. When I try to import the .mov file into dvd studio pro, it comes up with a meesage "incompatible format" or "file type not supported". HELP!
    thanks

You are best off using Compressor or other encoder to compress to SD m2v format and make the audio AC3 (saves space/bandwidth)
    Take a look here
    http://dvdstepbystep.com/faqs_7.php
    and here

for more info to start on how to calculate rates and set up Compressor (also bitVice -www.innobits.se and MegaPEG.X Pro -Digigami - www.Digigam.comi are two other encoders/companies to look at for encoders that run natively on the Mac that do a good job)

  • Do I need to change any settings to connect my mac book pro to my tv?

Do I need to change any settings on my mac book pro to connect to my tv

Almost certainly, yes. Did you want to know which settings?
Exactly what settings you would need to change, where, and to what would depend on many factors, including at least the following:
    * what model MBP you have (which will tell us the connector available),
    * what version of Mac OS X it runs (which will tell us the settings available),
    * what sort of TV you have (resolution, what connectors it offers, how they are switched, etc.),
    * what connecting facilities you have (like wires or an AppleTV),
    * how you want to use the TV (primary screen, secondary screen, mirror screen, sole screen),
    * whether you want to play audio through the TV,
    and even
    * where the TV is located with respect to the MBP.
Simple case: New enough MBP to have HDMI output, running a recent OS X, TV new enough to have an available HDMI input, an HDMI cable on hand, using the TV as a secondary screen, and you don't care about how the screen positions relate or where the audio plays. You might be able to get away with default settings on the computer, but you'll still probably have to switch the TV to the HDMI input, and you'll have to drag windows onto the new screen.

  • Mac Mini and LCD TV, changed resolution and now cannot use the screen anymo

    hello,
I have a Mac Mini and and LCD TV which is connected via HDMI cable. I was playing around with the resolution settings (not very smart in hindsight) and managed to select a resolution that my TV does not support. I do not have another monitor or Macbook. Is there anything I can do to reset the resolution settings? I tried to reset the PRAM, but that didnt seem to solve the problem. I also tried starting in Safe mode but that didnt do the trick either.
    Appreciate your help!

Arie, it may be possible to get to System Preferences via the keyboard. But you have to be sure the Finder is the foreground application. Is your Mac set to boot straight into your account or does it pause waiting for a password? If it boots straight into a user account, you can try the following procedure:
\- Restart the Mac (It should be hooked up to the misbehaving display in case that's not clear)
\- When it is done booting, type Cmd-Tab and then Cmd-Q. Do this several times. (Cmd-tab will step the Mac through all the programs that might be running. Cmd-Q quits them. Doing this several times ensures that only the Finder is running since the Finder can't be quit. This is important for the next step)
\- Type Shift-Cmd-a (This should open the Applications folder)
\- Type "sys" quickly (System Preferences within the Applications folder should now be highlighted)
\- Type Cmd-o (This should open System Preferences)
\- Type out the word "screen settings" completely (This should cause Displays to be highlighted in the System Preferences main panel)
\- Hit the Return key (This should open Display Preferences)
\- Hit the Return key again (This will clear any alert box that may have popped up)
\- Hit the Tab key once (This will shift the keyboard focus to the resolutions list)
\- Now start using the up (or down) arrow on the keyboard one press at a time. Each press of the arrow key moves to the next resolution in the list. Wait at least five seconds between arrow key presses for the resolution change to take effect. Hopefully, at some point, the monitor will light up with a stable image and you are back in business.

  • External Monitor changing resolutions on Macbook

I have seen several people ask this question, but I haven't found a suitable answer. I have a MacBook running 10.6.8 at school. I teach and move from room to room hooking up to different projectors and monitors. The set up is just very unstable. Despite its supposed ability to remember settings, it rarely does and the resolutions are messed up as well as the display callibrations. I have an external monitor on my desk. Yesterday, I set the resolution to the native 1280x1024, when I plugged back in, it was back to 1024x768. For some reason, the higher resolution wasn't even appearing on the list until I fiddled with it.
Why is this so buggy on this MacBook running this OS? Is there a way to force it to remember display settings better? Any tips?
I know that other teachers have more problems than I do because they don't even know how to change resolutions or anything like that.
Thanks for any tips, tricks or helpful comments.

Try doing a Parameter RAM reset - hold down command/option/p/r keys at start up and wait for three chimes before releasing the keys.

  • HT4356 I have two printers on my network.  Does anyone know how to change the printer nomenclature - Officejet Pro 8600  (0B54AF) to a recognizable name...like Brad's Office?

I have two printers on my network.  Does anyone know how to change the printer nomenclature - Officejet Pro 8600  (0B54AF) to a recognizable name...like Brad's Office when you use Airprint?

You would have to change that in the printer's settings on the printer, if that option is offered by the manufacturer. The iPhone just finds printers on the network and uses the name they have given themselves or that were given to them when they were set up.

  • Camera Raw changes resolution to lower value (CS4, CS5)

When I open a tiff file that is 300 dpi in Camera Raw, process it some, then open it in Photoshop and save it, the resolution has changed from 300 to 240. Anyone know why this is and how to prevent it?

Because you've got the Workflow Options set to 240 PPI. See that info link at the bottom of the Camera Raw dlog? Click that and you can change the settings...

  • Display resolution settings not storing since upgrading monitors

We have (2) Mac Pros and since upgrading to larger monitors we have been having issues with the resolution settings not "storing" in display preferences. The computer setups are slightly different, and the monitor sizes and make/models are both different, but the problems are the same:
    1) Mac Pro DVI out > VGA switcher > Monitor VGA input
    2) Mac Pro DVI out > VGA switcher > DVI switcher > Monitor DVI input
(*Note - I know this whole setup seems ridiculous, but it's the way each of the rooms were hard-wired)
With both machines the problems intermittently vary from the resolution itself changing at random when turning on the machine each day, to the desktop background being about 2/3 the size of the screen, while all of the icons and rest of the desktop being normal sized/extended to the edges of the monitor as it should.
It seems that if we change resolution to anything else, and then change back to the desired resolution, that usually solves the problem.
Does anyone know why these settings won't save?
(*Note - we recently upgraded to Lion, but the issue was there before and after the upgrade.)

You must close the window and save changes to keep them.
You may have a problem with Disk Permissions -- the file may not be available to you for writing.

  • I need  a symbol to remain center screen on my web page no matter the screen resolution settings.

Im trying to create an animation with functions inside a symbol. I need the symbol settings to remain seprate from the other settings of other items on the page such as "stage" and "background image" which are set to %  height.width, longitude, latitude . It is important that the symbol stays in the center of the screen. I also need this symbol to always remain in the center of the screen no matter screen resolution settings  that are likly range from 1360x768 to 1920x1080.

    Hi there,
I solved the problem. but by solving the problem with centering the symbol on the stage I created another one, a very strange problem.
Firstly the solving of centering problem:
I left all settings of the symbol by px, (means no responsive layout), set 0 px o for position, and wrote a css which then centered the symbol on the stage,
    sym.$("products").css({
       margin : 'auto',
       position: 'relative'
here how does it look in edge:
The symbol products is behaving just as supposed. The problem I created and which I don#t understand at all: I created another symbol (news) made the very same adjustments, but the symbol is not positioned as supposed. (of course I change the name of symbol in css). What the heck???
Anyone any idea why this is happening?

  • Macbook display unexpectedly changes resolution and cannot be changed

The internal display resolution recently changed unexpectedly such that I now have 1 inch black bars on both sides of my display and the right, left and bottom edges of all images and applications are not viewable. I have gone to system preferences to change the resolution, but the dialog box for changing the resolution pops up far to the right and off of the viewable screen to the point that I am unable to select a different resolution. I have not installed any new hardware or software recently and did not change the resolution, this problem occurred spontaneously. I can see the edge of the display resolution settings box, but I am unable to drag the box to the viewable screen or select any of the other resolution options. Help!

Try starting in Safe mode and see if the screen boots into a normal resolution when starting safe. If it does, change the resolution to something not native that still is useable. Then restart normally and see if the problem is gone. If so, set the resolution back to what it should be (1280 x 800).

  • Could the Change Resolution App for Retina mess up Display?

This is a dumb question and I believe I already know the answer but I downloaded the Change Resolution App just to test out the 2880 setting. After doing so, I closed it out and then went to the settings on my laptop and chose best retina aka 1440. It seems like the retina display does not look as good as when I first took it out the box so I just wanted to make sure that by downloading this app and messing with it a few times, it didnt affect the way Apple sends you the laptop. Like I said, I went back and set it to the default setting but something didnt seem the same. I didnt know if Apple did something special to make it look so well but when you messed with the setting through an app it now has removed what they did and it doesnt go back to the way it originally was even when you go through the Apple settings and change it back to Best Retina display. Like I said, I know its probably a dumb discussion but I am not the most advanced when it comes to computer talk. I also read something about the way the display works through the 1440 setting allows 4x the pixels or something like that. I appreciate your help even for a noob question like mine.

    Anyone know the answer?

  • Permanent Crash related to changing display settings while FCP is open.

Recently, the display settings (arrangement) on my two monitors started changing by itself while I was working in FCP 6.5. I'm using ancient monitors (Viewsonic MB90 and Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 920. I just don't have the money to upgrade right now). Tis was annoying but I dealt with the problem by creating two different windows layouts. Then things got worse (the only thing I had done was install 8 gigs of additional memory on top of the original 2). FCP started crashing and now I can't even open the application. It doesn't react.
Apple recently posted a not very informative acknowledgement of the problem with changing display settings while FCP is open, but it doesn't suggest solutions to my problem. It would be helpful to know a) what resolution and refresh rates are best for these old monitors and b)how to open FCP again. Your help is greatly appreciated.

    THIS IS IT!
Disabling the nVidia deep colors for 3d applications solved the uber-annoying "flicker-screen-settings-and-disrupt/crash-other-programs" issue. I specifically only disabled deep colors for Premiere, not for all 3d applications I use, because none of them have caused the same problem as Premiere.
This display-screen setting issue probably occurred because I use a Dell u3011 monitor which displays Adobe RGB color gamut, not just sRGB.
However, now this brings up another question with disabling deep colors (effectively disabling the Adobe RGB use of the Dell monitor):
QUESTION: If I have CG-rendered frames that seem to be created in sRGB and Adobe RGB (in two different programs), what color space should I be mixing/editing them in?
I'm somewhat of a novice with the color spectrum/gamut issue. From what I understand, if I edit both CG images in sRGB, I'll be losing color data from the Adobe RGB-created CG image. If I edit both CG images in Adobe RGB, will I create minor banding effects on the sRGB image because it doesn't have the color range that I'm editing in? Perhaps my question is more relevant to AfterEffects compositing of the images rather than simply/only editing them in Premiere.
The end result is something like an architectural film/ flythrough.
    Thanks,
    -Matt

  • Imported mpeg videos change resolution.

I am importing mpeg videos to the project on PP 7.2.1 (4) under Windows 7 and they seem to change resolution and aspect ratio. Not sure if there is a setting that can be changed to override the aspect ratio and resolution when importing videos to the project ? Otherwise the video plays fine despite looking a little bit strange with this new aspect ratio of 1.1851.
The original video stream is (according to mediainfo):
    Format                                   : MPEG Video
    Format version                           : Version 2
    Format profile                           : Main@Main
    Format settings, BVOP                    : Yes
    Format settings, Matrix                  : Custom
    Format settings, GOP                     : M=3, N=15
    Duration                                 : 44s 478ms
    Bit rate mode                            : Variable
    Bit rate                                 : 9 071 Kbps
    Maximum bit rate                         : 8 900 Kbps
    Width                                    : 720 pixels
    Height                                   : 480 pixels
    Display aspect ratio                     : 16:9
    Frame rate                               : 29.970 fps
    Standard                                 : NTSC
After importing it to the project the properties are:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 540 x 480
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00:00:44:15
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.1851
Does anybody know if this can be corrected somehow?
    Thank you

Thank you - I went through the tutorials and I think I am running into a different issue (at least this is how ti looks).
The original video when opened in source monitor (before importing it into the project) shows properties of:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 540 x 480
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00:00:44:15
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.1851
and this is before importing it to the project just opening it in the monitor. Not sure what to think of it the video shows everywhere as 720*460 (16:9), when I click properties in windows in various media players and in MediaInfo but for some reason PP sees it as 540*480 (1:1851).
    Thank you
