  • How to change the default font size in X11?

I was a PC/linux user and have switched to use Mac lately (MBP Snow leopard 10.6.8).
Everything's been running perfectly on Mac so far and I really like it, until I have to run some programs on XQuartz/X11 (XQuart 2.7.0).
The default font size in the Xterm is too small. And I hate it that I have to change it everytime i open a new terminal (via vt fonts menu, ctrl+right-mouse click).
Is there a way to change the default font size "permanently" in XQuartz/X11 ??
This may be a stupid question to ask in the developer forum but i cant really solve it.
There's only config. file ~/.Xdefaults they have mentioned so far on Google but i really cant find it regarding to the directorty.
Thank you very much in advance.

You would be surprised to find out that is not like this, to get your account blocked you really need to do a lot of damage and posts are not removed unless they are illegal, and *always* it needs more than a person to delete something. That's a site managed by the community, not by some people put in place by a company.
It is always acceptable to link to external resources as long these resources do provide additional usefull information. Clearly the thread on that side contained much more information than the one here. I observed people linking from there to this forum, but it's not so common, and that's not due to the policy, just because here is more chat and less usefull information.... you will not see endless threads of replies on with "yes, I have the same problem" there.
Shortly, this is "discussions" and is quite different in approach than the SE model, where everythign is aimed towards getting the be answers UP and removing all the nonsense.
I wish that Apple would invest more in discussion, and going towards making this more practical.

  • How Do I Change the Mailbox Font Size in the Sidebar?

In an earlier preview build of Lion, I was able to change the size of the Mailbox font used in the left sidebar to view more content in the column, but I don't remember what I did to change it.  The Mail/Preferences/Fonts & Colors pane no longer has a Mailbox font option.
Does anyone know how to change the Mail sidebar font size in Lion?

I'm not sure what you're responding to.  Bob H. above pointed out a clear bug in changing the Mail list font when he went to Mail/Preferences/Fonts & Colors and changed the font setting for the Mail list (second column), and it didn't work.
My issue was the font size in the first column (sidebar), which is not controlled in the Mail app, but by going to System Preferences/General and checking the box for changing the sidebar font size.  This checkbox also controls the font size for Finder (Desktop) windows sidebars (left column), where hard drives, other volumes, user Documents folders, and the like are listed.  This does work perfectly for me.
I have no other suggestions for you, except for perhaps trying removing the com.apple.finder.plist file located in the ~/Library/Preferences folder, which you can access by holding down the option key while selecting the Go menu at the top of the screen.  This controls the Finder window settings you have previously selected, and may be corrupted.  Simply move it to the Desktop for temporary safekeeping, then if it simply copied it, vice moving it out of the folder, right click on the file in the folder to move it to the Trash (you may have to authenticate).  This will force the Finder to recreate a default version of the file, which you can then remodify to your liking.  If that works, Trash the copy you moved to the Desktop.  If not, put it back in the folder to restore your prior settings.
    Good luck.

  • How do I change the Bookmark Font size in Firefox 7?

The Bookmark Font size in Firefox 7 for Mac is too small and I want to increase it. I don't want to change all font sizes, just the bookmark font size.

Try this code in userChrome.css in the chrome folder below the @namespace line.

  • How do I change the system font size?

Just a got a new Macbook pro. Love it but can't figure out how to change the font size for the whole system. I can adjust the content of specific windows  but I can't seem to change the size of text in the address bar, tool bar, menu bar, etc. Everything is way too small on this big beautiful screen!

Also use Firefox and the following add-ons:
NoSquint and Theme Font & Size Changer
NoSquint will remmeber your zoom setings per website and Theme Font will change the size of the menu type itself
Firefox is a highly customizable browser, the menu area can be themed with a persona picture, which is the blue and white type you see.
A lot easier and softer on the eyes than Safari's black and grey (less depressing too)

I think this is because some people send email in HTML or Rich Text, and they control the fonts and sizing.  iOS will only show the large font if the messages are sent in Plain Text.

  • Can you change the TOC font size and pane size?

I am using RH 9 to generate WebHelp whose output is ultimately being viewed by a QT browser on a Linux platform machine. In my WebHelp settings, I am using "(Traditional style -no skin)" and using "Show/hide navigation pane" in my topic navigation.
Because of the small size screen that it is being viewed on, the default TOC pane size is too big (takes up half the screen), and the TOC font is too small (defaults to 10 pt). I can't seem to find any where in the RH UI to change these two settings. Does anyone know the specific output file(s) where these are being stored so can I change these settings manually? I know that if I manually change them outside of RH, I'll need to do it every time file I publish my help system, but that's an acceptable workaround to me, given the importance of this issue to me.

  • How do i change the generated font size in the TOC (left-hand pane)?

I've looked in all the sections in the Settings dialog, but I don't see anything that will allow me to make the font size larger. I just want to enlarge the TOC books and page listings on the left.
Please tell me that RH allows you to do something this simple...

You'll need to amend your skin. Double click the skin in the Project Setup pod. This opens the Skin Editor. Click on the Navigation tab and then the Font button.

  • How do I change the Attribution font size for Outlook for Mac

    Outlook For Mac assistance.
I have gone into the settings menu and properly set up my font and style for correspondence (Preferences-Fonts), the issue I have is that when I reply or forward a message, the Attribution (To, From, Subject,
Date) etc... from the sender defaults to a much larger 24 size/ Verdana.  I can manually highlight and then change this to match my settings of a 16 - Calibri but this is a hassle.  I have tried to alter this via the Preferences for E-mail (Composing)
and  while option three gives a Name, Date, Address option (sans the Subject) Attribution, the second desired standard option does not include font or style changes.  This is of course the HTML option which is preferable to me.
How can I set the default of option two to match my other font and/or style preferences?

  • Changing the text/font size??

I am so lost right now. Was using a LG Dare and have had the incredible for less then 2 days but already I am frustrated.
The text is so small on this phone it is awful! EVERY phone I have ever had gave me an option to make the text larger but nowhere on this phone can I find this option.
My biggest with this is during texting or IM, the font is very tiny. Smaller then on my Dare. Obviously they left this "feature" out and is forcing me to put glasses on to read a text message or type one,, as well as looking at some of the other features.
Ok, I am 49 and I have earned the right to no be able to ready tiny print any more..lol (just you all wait it happens around 41) I do not wear glasses so I use those stupid readers.. they give ya headaches after awhile and you cannot see far with them, only close up stuff.. hence "reading glasses".. it is a pain to grab a pair of glasses every time a text comes in..they come of and on and on and off..they are a pain trust me!
So does anyone know how I can make the text bigger? If I am not able to fix this issue I will have to return the phone.. I cannot understand why they wouldn't include a fontre-sizer..makes no sense..
And yes, I looked for apps and couldn't find one..and shouldn't have to anyhow..
    thanks in advance
    Karla

I would look in the settings of the IM program you are using. Many apps have the option to re-size the fonts under settings. For example, under the brower under settings is an option for it.
Also touching the screen twice very quickly will enlarge the info in many apps.

  • How do I change the menu font size in Elements 13

I just downloaded Elements 13.0.0 on my new Win8.1 computer and the menus are so tiny I cannot use them. This is the only program that does not seem to respond to the Settings on my PC. Lightroom 5.7 for example is just fine. Can someone help me?

Generally you can't and there is nothing nothing you can do about this.  These things are normally controlled by the Operating System but some programs don't use Microsoft's Software Development Kits (SDK for short) and so the settings in OS do not change anything in programs that are running on it.
Dreamweaver people have opened a campaign to make Adobe change this practice but we shall have to wait what happens.

My version is the middle eastern version and i don't want my punctuations to go to the start of the sentence. Also, i went to preferences>type and i can't find the text engine option so i'm lost right now.

  • FAQ: UI - How can I change the color theme, size of the text, or turn off the application frame?

    CHANGING THE INTERFACE COLOR SCHEME:
The Photoshop CS6 default interface is dark, but if you prefer the lighter interface you are used to from earlier versions,
you can change it back in the appearance area. There are 4 default color themes.
Mac          Photoshop > Preferences > Interface
Windows   Edit > Preferences > Interface
    CONFIGURING LARGER FONTS:
For those who need larger fonts, you can also change the UI Font Size down in the type area.
Be sure to restart Photoshop to see the changes.
    TURNING OFF THE APPLICATION FRAME
CS6 opens now by default in "Application Frame". You can go Window>Application Frame in the main meu and uncheck this

Select the title / text and then click on the "i" (inspector). A colored pin wheel shows up after you click on the square box directly below the font settings inside the inspector window. Then simply drag the dot to the color you want. Like this:
