Changing *typeface* in Mail's Fonts & Colors preference pane?

I want to change the font for my message list and mailboxes, but the Fonts & Colors preference pane only allows me to select the font family (e. g., Gill Sans) and not the font typeface (e. g., Book) that falls under it.
If I go to Format > Show Fonts, the pane shows both the family and the typefaces within the family, and I can use this in styling text within a message. But not it seems through the preference dropdown menu.
Is there a workaround, or a plugin?
Thanks.
Victor

I am not sure why they decided that the font for the list view for notes would use the same font the notes itself. It does not look good when going through the side through the different items, then you hit notes. I changed the font to match the other list font but does not look good in the note, where actually I would love to user marker felt. Please, if any apple people are reading this, please have the message list font cover the font for the note list.

  • Can't change the month in the Date & Time preference pane

I can't change the month in the Date & Time preferences pane. I deselected "Set Date and Time Automatically" but that didn's solve the problem. I would like to trash the preference (plist) for Date and Time but I can't seem to find it. What is it called?

In the International Formats, the date format is as I have it set, (YYYY.MM.DD) But the MM is neither blue, nor accessible for change. The year can be changed (YYYY or YY), along with several options for the day, but I can't change the month to a different format unless I change the calendar from Gregorian, or if I change from the short date to med, long or full. Although, even then, iCal and Date and Time only show the month as 1, regardless of what it should be, and without any capacity for changing it.
    Thanks

  • Changing system font colors?

    Hi community,
I have been always a lover of dark backgrounds with light color fonts because it's much better for reading, at least for me.
    1) Is there any way to change the way the system fonts color is displayed? I could change the background color using the options of the finder to a background gray color of 333333, but cannot change the font color to something around white, in order to get a better contrast between background and text.
    2) It's possible to do the same in text editors?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mart

    Hi,
Happens in the finder that the fonts are black, and I would like to change the font color from black (default) to white. If you take a look to the new Snow Leopard, you will notice that some texts are white over a dark gray background. That's aesthetically super cool, and much better for reading. Here is an snapshot of this thing: http://www.zone-numerique.com/uploads/News/090216/capturesnow_leopard_dock450.jpg You can see how good is the contrast with white over dark gray. I would love to have the whole OS set this way, instead white & light gray (default).
    Thanks,
    Mart

  • Tab set font color

I just downloaded the fix pack and have noticed that I am still unable to change the tab set tab font color.  Am I doing anything wrong?'
    Thanks,
    DD

I believe what Purnima was speaking of was the Tab Background color properties.
However, I believe there is an issue with the Label Over Color and Label Selected Color mapping properties of the Tab Set.
    Thanks.

  • Enable Third Party Preference Panes for Standard User Account

I work as a Mac admin for a private school.
All of our Macs are imaged with two accounts, an Admin account (for tech support) and a standard user account (for faculty/staff/students).
One of our art rooms has Wacom tablets.
There is a Wacom preference pane in the "Other" section of System Preferences, which allows you to customize the sensitivity, etc of the stylus.
In the admin account, this preference pane is enable, in the standard user account, it's grayed out.
I would like to give the standard user account access to this preference pane, so each student can customize the Wacom to their liking.
I've tried everything I can think of, from changing the ownership and permissions of the preference pane in /Library/PreferencePanes to creating an identical folder with the preference pane in ~/Library. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!

If this is retricted by policy there is not much you can do about it.
There are no settings to change on LPT ports.  COM have utilites that sett the settings.
At a command prompt type: MODE /?
Follow the instructions.  Only administrators can use this utility.  Only administrators can change hardware settings.
I recommend contacting your network admins for assistance in getting this done.  It cannot be done with a script.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • How do I change the default font color on Mail?

I want the words in my messages to be a certain color, so what am I doing wrong? First I go on preferences, to fonts & colors, hit select on message list font, and it pulled up a window with all the fonts and stuff. Then I click on the color icon thing which brings up another window for me to choose the color. So I choose the color and close that window and all the other ones. But when I start a new message, the font is black. Is there something I need to do differently? Thanks!

Hello Apple... is anyone monitoring and responding?
For years I have been manually changing the font and font color on every outgoing mail as an element of Corporate Identity.
Apple Mail offers great features like smart mailboxes - but this is still not fixed!
Universal Mailer (http://universalmailer.github.io/UniversalMailer/) forces font, size and color, but does not display it in the window of the outgoing mail. Can be misleading!
Spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar!
    Apple, please fix!

  • Unable to change font color for Plain Text Emails

I have a Win7 Enterprise x86 machine running Outlook 2010.  I am unable to read plain text emails.  When I go into Options->Mail->Stationary and Fonts, the preview box under "Composing and reading plain text messages" is all white.
I've tried changing it to automatic, black, random colors, different fonts and styles, click 'Ok' and nothing happens.  Preview pane and incoming plain text emails are white.  I followed all the steps in this TechNet article: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0e535f1f-0a2f-4208-9b05-42c4e943b484/outlook-2010-cannot-view-plain-text-emails?forum=officeitproprevious
Applied the Fix It, repaired Office 2010, renamed the normalemail.dotm file.  Still nothing.
Anyone run into this issue or have a fix?

This could be a view issue. Please try to open Outlook using the /cleanviews
switch to clean your views, and try again. Here is the line switches for Outlook 2010http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/outlook-help/command-line-switches-for-outlook-2010-HP010354956.aspx

  • Mail Message List Font in Preferences doesn't Work

I have just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and am trying out the new features.
In Mail - which I think captures all of my email even though I am on iCloud - I can't seem to get the font on the Message List (on the left where it lists all of your email) to get larger.
In Mail Prefrences it allows you to increase the "Message List" font but when I do this nothing happens.  In fact, none of the changes to any of the font sizes seems to do anything.
I have a large screen and hate to keep squinting on my email list.  What am I doing wrong or is there something else associated with this Mail Preference selection?
Or, is it just not working?
    Help or suggestions appreciated.

Turns out that there is no way to change this unless uing the classic mailbox... We're stuck with the default setup on the new style.

  • When composing an email, how do I highlight a word in yellow (NOT change the font color, just highlight)?

On Windows when composing an email,  I would often highlight a word or sentence in yellow. I don't seem to have this option on my Mac Book Air toolbar as I did when I had on my laptop. How can I add this feature to my toolbar? I don't want to change the font color, just want to highlight a word within the email.
    Thank you,

You may or may not be able to do this based on which e-mail client or webmail platform you're using.  In your email options, you'll want to have the option to paste it as rich-text or HTML.  If you only have the option for plain text then you're out of luck.

  • How to set font Color in Mail

Sometime ago I set in Mail the default font to Arial, and the default font Size to 18, so when I write a new email these are my default font and size. But I could not set the font Color. How do I do this?

Sounds like you have the Preferences toolbar closed on another selection.
Go to Mail > Preferences and at the top right of the Preferences window is a clear pill shaped button.
Selecting this button opens/closes the complete Preferences toolbar.

  • Copy letter from Pages to Mail font color not transfered with copy

I am writing a letter in Pages and copying the text into a new email in Mail. When I paste the text into the new email I am losing formating. Is there a way to keep font color formating exactly as it was (several different colors in one line) in Pages.
    Thanks
    Mark

Open Mail preferences, click on the Composing icon in the toolbar, set the Message Formatting drop down menu to Rich Text. Keep in mind that not all email recipients may be able to read email using HTML formatting. It may be better to send your Pages document as an attachment rather than as the main body of the email provided your recipients will be able to read a Pages document.
