in itunes is there a way to change the type of multiple videos at the same time from movie to TV show or vice versa instead of having to do it one video at a time?

Changing video type to tv show stops working
Hi guys.
When i copy a show to my iPad it plays fine when categorised as Home Video. However, when i set the show to TV Show and give it a Show Name, it stops working and will not play on my iPad or in iTunes. I have to delete the show and copy it over again in Home Video for it to play.
Does anyone who why this is? This used to work fine with iOS 7.
Thanks,
GaryIt is bad that you do not have TV Shows as a selection for the Video Kind for imported videos (not bought from iTunes). Something similar is probably causing an audio book that I got from somewhere besides iTunes to show up under Music in the search bar and not under Audiobooks.
The only work around I have been using when using the browser mode in videos is to make sure that I select show Genre when browsing and make my own video Genres (into more like Video Kinds) and leave videos "clicked" on All and then just select TV Show or Movie or whatever from the Genre if I want to narrow down my selection.
It helps but as I add more things to iTunes I would rather use Genre to further narrow down the selection I made in the search bar like click on "TV Shows" in search bar then comedy in genre or click on "All" in search bar and then comedy under genre to show all comedies regardless of being a movie, music video, podcast, or TV show. If all of my library had been purchased through iTunes it would work, but until Apple gives non-iTunes store videos all the selections under Video Kind (get info then under options) that are used in the search bar it is limiting. -
I mistakenly changed the video type to iTunes U
I was intending to classify it as a TV Show. Now I cannot see it on my Itunes U library therefore I cannot change the video type to the originally intended TV Show. I know the file exists by using Finder and browsing all the way down to Itunes U folder, but I can't edit the information (actually the "get Info" box in Finder is completely different from the "get Info" box in Itunes).
How can I make this files show up in Itunes U so that I can change the video type once again? Is there a way I can change the video type form outside Itunes?Does it show up if you create a smart playlist with the rule Name is <Name>, or a similar constuction using the details you can recall? If so then you will be able to reset the Media Kind.

How do you change a video type?
I want to know how to change a video type like TV Show or Movie so when you go on your iPod under videos it will audomadicly have a section called TV Shows or something with whatever you wanted to be in that catergory in there. Help me please!
Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Right-click your video in iTunes and select "Get Info" from the pop-up menu. Then click on the "Options" tab, and change the type under "Video Kind:"
The video type cannnot be changed on TV Shows or movies purchased from iTunes. It can be changed on a Video Podcast though.

Can't change the type of media from Home videos to TV Shows.
My aim is to organize videos into folders, so I followed the well known workaround to change the type of videos to 'TV Show' and group them by name of the 'show'. After changing the type, videos are moved to 'TV Shows', but when I try to play them on iPad, the player shows up for a fraction of second and closes (the "downloading" icon appears, of course running endlessly, since the files are mine, not downloaded). After that, when I try to play the video in iTunes, the exclamation mark appears, and the only thing I can do with the video is delete it...
I have, in fact, succeeded in this conversion with one of the files, but only once. After deleting it and trying once again, the same problem appeared. Is this a software bug, or a new feature in iOS 8.1 and the only thing I can do to get my videos organized is rely on third party apps?OK, the problem is solved. I've beed uploading the videos directly to iPad ("On My Device" section) and then trying to change the type to TV Show, while I should first import them into iTunes library, then change the type, and finally sync.

Itunes 10.6.1.7 problem: when I change the file "media type" from 'Music' to 'Podcast' the file disapears from ITUNES. I do this via (1) right click, (2) select 'Get Info', (3) select 'options' tab, and (4) change media type. What is the problem?
Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

FMLE Bug: Encoder changes video input from Composite to SVHS
I have a video signal on the Composite input of my video card and I am encoding using FMLECmd.exe
The problem is that when I change the video input to "Composite" using the Video Device's Property Pages,
FMLECmd.exe sets it back to SVideo again after it stops encoding.
So, before each encode I need to bring up the Property Pages go and change the input to "Composite" again.
How can I work around this FMLECmd bug, any ideas?
Thanks.FMLE saves Advance Device Property settings in profile file. When you change Input type to Comosite, make sure that you save a profile for that setting.
Next time when you start FMLECmd, start it with saved profile and it should work with Compsite input this time.
What you were doing is probably not closing FMLE after making changes in Device property page due to which settings are not getting saved in startup.xml profile and next time when FMLECmd starts with startup.xml by default it was loading prevoius settings having SVideo input.
So try closing FMLE GUI after changing device property page and then start FMLECmd with stratup.xml file or save these settings in some other proifle file and start FMLECmd with saved profile file
Let me know if this works for you? -
Changing "Video Kind" to TV Show?
So after manually changing each of my 450+ music video files to "Music Video" under "Video Kind:" (why on earth can't this come up under Edit Multiple Item Info?), my next project is to add my TV shows to iTunes.
However, I cannot find a way to change the video type to "TV Show". The options are only "Movie" and "Music Video", neither of which will make a video file appear when TV Shows is selected in the Video playlist.
Is there a way to do this?It is bad that you do not have TV Shows as a selection for the Video Kind for imported videos (not bought from iTunes). After having updated Ipad2 to IOS7 I can't change Video to Photo and viceversa on photocamera. Solutions?
Have you tried swiping up or down on the screen in the photos app? When you swipe up or down, that cycles through the Photo, Video and Square modes in the app. The current mode appears in yellow type.
The screen on the iPad in photos App is going to look different that what you see if you click on the link that was posted for you above - that link shows what the screen will look like on the iPhone, but they are similar. -
Change Video Parameters with flash button
Hi can anyone tell me what code I would need to attch to my
button to change the adress of the video being played in my flash
video player.
Or can you tell me how i can create a playlist of videos and
use flash forward/ back buttons to skip between them.
So far i have a working player, i have found a way to change
videos by tweening, but that would take me forever to tween every
video in my playlist.
Thanks
JeySure. Specically what I changed from what DW automatically
did is- delete the !DOCTYPE W3C line #1, Condensed the html tag to
simply <html>, moved title up under head, the "Content-Type"
bit under title, got rid of the "/" befor the ">" in that line,
eliminated the entire style section and replaced it with the body
tag, indented the "}" under the if line. Which one, or combination
of which did the trick, I don't know. Several of those things I
don't really comprehend. I was just trying to match what I knew
worked. And then on top of that, I had to publish in Flash7. There
is some kind of new way to do it in 8, called ExternalInterface
which made me dizzy when I read it. Here's the final working code:

my video files will not allow me to change their type from movie to music video or tv show i have tried what the help suggested but to no end, if i do it individually it is greyed out so i cant even click on the media type section when i do it as a group it allows me to do it but it then doesn't change anything. its the same with all my videos if i even want to change to name it will let me then not do it on the screen.
anyone know the reason its been like this for a good 6 months and i though it would be fixed with the new soft ware to no luckIf it's greyed out, that usually means itunes doesn't think it has WIndows 7 permission to change it. Even if you are the only user on the PC and using an admin account, you might not have proper permissions. Just checking to see if a file or folder is read-only isn't enough.
Here is what I'm talking about. Whether you can't change a file's info, or can't delete it - same thing.
http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/windows-7-how-to-delete-files-protected-by-tru stedinstaller/
Give yourself full control and ownership of the top-level music folder, and all its subfolders. Which means you need to check off "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".
Some folks have even had to temporarily turn off UAC to edit items. -
Programmatically controlling NI-1407 standard video types
Is it possible to programmatically control the standard video type on a NI-1407 Frame Grabber. For example, switch between RS-170 and CCIR within LabView code. (I know this is a simple chore if you utilize MAX)
J Mazzetta,
The information for the current camera type in contained in a text file in the IMAQ/data folder. You can parse this file and change the text string identifying the camera file. Here is a link to a KB on our website with an example to do this:

Hello,
I recently imported 5 mp4 videos in my iTunes library, then I changed the media type to "Podcast" ("Film" is by default) in the options by right-clicking and then select "obtain information." Since then, impossible to find them ! As well in the podcast category as in the movies. I tried to copy the videos directly from the Windows folder where the files are to my iPod, but it does not appear as well in the iTunes window reserved for the iPod as in the iPod itself ...
Thank you for your answers! Is that really the end, doc ?

I'm a captivate-user-in-training.
My settings created text captions, hint (rollover) captions,
and failure captions when I recorded my training video, which was
ok. I was instructed to delete the text captions, but keep the hint
captions. Hint captions seem to be the same thing as rollover
captions, and I don't want them to display on a rollover - I want
them on the slide most of the time. Is there a way to change the
type of caption without having to create all new ones? Even better,
is there a way to change the type of all the captions at once?
Caption properties don't seem to offer that option, but I'm
hoping maybe it's somewhere I haven't looked.Hi klhdv
Caption types fall into a few different categories.
* Standard Text Captions
* Feedback Captions
* Rollover Captions
While you should be able to change all of one category type
to another type within the same category, you cannot change them
across multiple categories. For example, if you are using Adobe
Blue for a Standard Text Caption and you want ALL your Standard
Text Captions to be Adobe Blue, you could use the "Apply to all"
feature you see on the Caption dialog to accomplish it. But if you
also wanted to change all "Success" captions to be Adobe Blue, you
would have to edit one of the Success captions, make the change,
then use the Apply to all feature.
Yeah, I know the Apply to all feature has an area where it
says "All caption types", but in my experience, it doesn't work
most of the time for this.
Here is the difference between a Hint caption and a simple
rollover caption. A Hint caption is associated with a Button, Click
Box, or Text Entry Box object. It appears when mousing over these
objects to provide a "hint" that something can be done. With a
standard typical Rollover Caption, you simply define an area where
you want the user to mouse over and have the caption appear when
mousing over the area. The big difference here is that with the
former objects, they are interactive. The user normally has to do
something with them. Click or type text. And with the latter, they
simply mouse over and read.
One more bit on changing the Caption type. There is no
facility I'm aware of that you may use inside Captivate to perhaps
right-click a feedback caption and choose to convert it to a
standard Text Caption or a Rollover Caption.
Hopefully this was helpful to you... Rick -
