Charged for an upgrade I didn't fully download and don't need

I started to download the iPhone 3.1.1 upgrade for my iTouch and realized that if I installed it, it wouldn't really give me anything I need more than I have now and I would lose everything already on my iTouch (I just don't want to reload everything as my wife and I have several iPods and several libraries and just finally got everything set the way I want it).
I stopped the download before it completed but was charged for it anyway. Granted, it's only $5 but I never installed it or even fully downloaded it. Can I get my money back? If not, how do I complete downloading it and can I 'save' it for later use w/o installing it on my iTouch right now?

It's doubtful that you can get your money refunded since Apple's terms clearly state that all sales are final. But you can ask.
For completing the download, look under the Store menu in iTunes for the "Check for available downloads" command and run that. You should find the update there to be downloaded. Once downloaded you should have the option of whether or not you want to update your iPod at this time. Just FYI, you should note that a number of iPod touch applications require the 3.x version of the OS, so you may at some point indeed want that update.
If the download won't complete, or if you want to try for a cancellation and refund, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department through the form you'll find by selecting the most applicable section of their Support page and explain the problem to them.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
    You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • Apps didn't fully download and now won't open or continue downloading.

    I tried to update a couple of apps on my iPhone 4s and didn't have enough internet so it paused. Now I can't open the two apps (Istagram and TED) and when I try to continue downloading it says it's unable to. If I delete and reinstall the app I'll also be deleting the data, and for Instagram that's not something I really want to do.  Troubleshooting advice? How do I restart an app??

    Thanks for replying! All of the other apps that needed updating updated, but Instagram and TED stayed greyed out and didnt update. When I tap it it says "Unable to Download Application: "Instagram" could not be downloaded at this time. :-(
    When I look in the App Store--Updates is says INSTALLING and it's also greyed out and I can't select anything.

    Perhaps you are correct but this is not made clear in the update window of this App Store.

    Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
    If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music then you will need to contact iTunes Support - try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).

    It should have an Apple part number at the bottom of the charger and an embossed Apple logo on the face of the adapter.
    Anyone can stamp a logo on the side, of course, so I would take a good luck at the part number and do an Internet search for the part number, making sure that it's genuine Apple.

  • HT1725 I am having problems getting rid of old podcast downloads that never fully downloaded and now are just stuck in my account.

    I tried to download a tv episode and a podcast awhile back and the tv episode didn't fully download due to a poor Internet connection. The podcast just didn't want to download for no reason as that was done another day with excellent connection but both didn't want to download even after I retired many times again using many methods I read on here? Now they just won't go away and just show up on the Downloads section of my account on iTunes and don't know how to get rid of them. I don't even care that I paid for the tv episode I just want them both gone. Any help on how to delete them both from my account? They just keep saying that there both are unable to download at the time when I tap on the download tap. It's been over 3 or more months that they just are stuck there.

    It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions. 
    How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?

    You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
    Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
    If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
    Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
    Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
    To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar

    Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download and don't appear in the Purchased link for re-downloading, so you will need to try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history to contact support : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that audiobook and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
