CHaRM, TMS, Monitoring using WILY Interoscope, Maintenance Optimizer

Hi Folks,
I am in urgent need of the configuration guide of SolMan 4.0.
as I want to implement CHaRM, TMS, Monitoring using WILY Interoscope, Maintenance Optimizer.
Also clearify the below mention doubts.
Scenario:
SAP is already implemented and Sol Man 4.0 is also installed.
We have 6 landscape of XI, BI, APO, CRM, SRM, HR, EP.
Also TMS is configured already for each and every system.
Doubts:
1. Can we do transport managment by using SolMan while we dont want to implement CHaRM.
2. Do we have to define the TMS again in the SolMan  including routes and TDC or just we have to add the satellite systems with Sol Man.
3. What would be the detail steps for this.
Mail me docs at [email protected]
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Akshay

  • Error when trying use the Maintenance Optimizer Transaction

I have finally gotten through a major headache setting up a SM box, but now when I try to use the maintenance Optimizer, i get the following messages and it won't go any further.

Warning There is already a transaction for the systems of this product version
It stays on the screen to select the logical component and just keeps saving the procedure.  I have tried deactivating the old procedures but nothing is working.
    Any Ideals.

  • Stack File for JSPM when using Maintenance Optimizer

    Hello,
As you know JSPM looks for a stack file when applying a support pack stack.  When using maintanance optimizer I see no way to get a stack file.  I end up having to do the work twice:  once to get the files in maintenance optimizer, and again I have to go to marketplace swdc to choose the files and create the list of downloads again only to save a stack file.
Am I missing something?  Is this double work really necessary?

    Hello John,
It seems that you are doing double work.
If you use the download type as "SLM" then you have a chance to transfer the XML to SLM. Else if you choose the download type as "Download Manager" then the XML should be created in the EPS/in folder of the Solution Manager system.
You also need to check whether you have applied all the applicable notes for the Solution Manager stack from the note 1122966 and that the BC sets for MOPZ are activated correctly.
Finally check the permissions on the EPS/in folder of Solution Manager to check whether there is a issue with authorizations.
A SLG1 log ( filtered by the username who creates the MOPZ transaction and time at which the transaction was created ) will reveal the errors in the process.

  • What is best practice for using Maintenance Optimizer to download SPS + EhP

SAP indicates in note 1095233 and many other documents that the best practice is to implement an EhP along with an SP Stack in the same queue. Furthermore, the only way to download the components of an EhP is via Maintenance Optimizer. However, in step 2 (Calculate download files automatically) you must choose either Maintenance (SPS) or Enhancement Package Installation (EhP); there is no way to tell Maintenance Optimizer that you want to download both SPS and EhP.
In developing the process for my team I circumvented the problem by saying to select Maintenance first to get the SPS into the Download Basket and follow that with selecting Enhancement Package Installation to get the EhP into the Download Basket. The plan would be to include all the downloads in the SPAM/SAINT queue with the expectation that SPAM/SAINT will be able to determine what must be included.
I'm wondering now whether that is a legitimate way to approach this and I am hoping others will share their process.

Actually, I don't believe you will get the entire SP Stack for ERP 6, you only get those pieces of the stack that are required for the Technical Usages you select for the EhP.  I'm basing that on my observation that you get a different subset of the files making up the stack depending upon your TU selection. Also, note 1095233 specifically states:
If now the corrections included in the enhancement package 3 correspond to ERP 6.0 SP level 11, SAP  recommends to update also the parts of your system to SP level 11 which you do not want to update to enhancement package 3  to achieve a consistent correction level in all parts of your application: SAP recommends to update all software components to the correction status corresponding to SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package Stack 11 with the installation of SAP enhancement package 3 for SAP ERP 6.0.

  • Solman 7.0 - Question regarding "New Maintenance Optimizer Transaction"

    Hi All,
Since I'm quite new on Solman transactions, while monitoring my queue, I found 4 tickets that says "New Maintenance Optimizer Transaction".
    This is what's inside:
    "Internal Note             SOLMAN_ADMIN 08.04.2014 08:41:25
The status was set to the value 'Selection'"
Can someone help me on where to find information regarding this, or if this is something I should take a look at?
    Thanks!

    Hi Bua,
Somebody has created an new maintenance transaction from MOPZ of solman, which is used for generated XML for applying support packs and EHPs.
Selection mean, that the user was selecting the components but has now done anything or updated the status

  • Configuring Maintenance Optimizer issue

    Hi All,
This is the first time I am configuring SM 4.0. I am done with installation, and want to conigure maintenance optimizer.
I followed the IMG guide step by step.
But after all done, there are no systems listed under the maintenance optimizer of my Solution Landscape.
    Instead I get a message:
<b>Change requests cannot be displayed or created, because the RFC connection has errors, or is not maintained.
Check whether the RFC connection to the Change Man agement system is under the key CHARM_DEST (APPLI field in the DESTINAT field), in the view BCOS_CUST. You need authorization for the cross-client view/table maintenance (S_TABU_DIS and S_TABU_CLI).
Check the RFC connection in the transaction SM59. If your SAP Solution Manager system is also your Change Manager system, the internal connection must be 'NONE'. You need authorization for the administration of RFC connections (S_RFC_ADM).</b>
Meanwhile I have issue with my J2EE engine not starting due to some UME issues, which I am working on parallely.
Please do let me know what would be the issue.
I have followed the note 990534 and doen with the BC sets.
But I am not sure where am I making a mistake.
One more doubt is, does maintenance optimizer connect to the SAP service market place through SAPOSS??? and am I not seeing anu system because my SLD is down. Please bear with my ignorance, I am a little lost here.
I have completed the solution landscape, logical component, etc.
    Please help...
    Regards,
    Sapfan

    Hi JP,
    My current SP levels are:
    SAP_BASIS - 0011
    SAP_ABAP - 0011
    PI_BASIS 2005_11 - 0011
    ST-PI 2005_11 - 0003
    SAP_BW - 0011
    SAP_AP - 0007
    BBPCRM 5 - 0007
    CPRXRPM - 0007
    ST400 - 0010
    ST-ICO - 0008
    ST-SER - 0007
The issue is I did not connect to SAP yet, as I have only one RFC generated i.e. SAPOSS> Since my SAPRouter is not yet configured, I will connect to a valid  SAPRouter once all the SM config is done.
I als got sone error in generating RFC for the main system when I used the wizard. I selected Change management and customizing directory and also selected Assign RFC for system monitoring.
I changed back the UME source to client 001, but still same.
Moreover the maintenance optimizer is not showing the satellite system.
    I am really stuck.
Please let me know if you require more information.
I created the main system and defined the solution, as per the SPRO->Solution Manager -> Advanced Configuration -> Basic settings ->
I started this only after applying SP10.
Now I don see the systems both for Setup Solution monitoring and in maintenance optimizer.
WIll the system not reflect is the java ebngine is down???

  • Solman setup maintenance optimizer

    Hi all,
I'm trying to setup my Solman Maintenance Optimizer to download SP.
When I read the configuration guide. It says the prerequisite is as below :-
The Maintenance Optimizer contains a lot of scenarios for maintenence procedures. The scenarios have different prerequisites.
    Basic Prerequisites
       1.
You have configured the Maintenance Optimizer in the SAP Solution Manager customizing.
You must perform the following customizing activities for the Maintenance Optimizer:
Assign S users for the SAP Support Portal.
This activity specifies the S users (user ID for the SAP Service Marketplace) assigned to user IDs for the SAP Solution Manager.
For more information see S Users in the Maintenance Optimizer.
Enter user for communication with SAP Service and Support systems
    2. This activity specifies the RFC connection SAP-OSS and the corresponding RFC user.
    3.     You have assigned product versions to the system to be maintained, in the system landscape.
You have assigned the systems to be maintained to a logical component.
          Note Note
If you want to use a solution, you must assign the systems to be maintained, to the solution landscape. For more information, see Solution Manager System Landscape.
          End of the note.
       4.
You have installed the Download Manager locally in your workplace. The Download Manager is in the SAP Software Distribution Center in the SAP Support Portal.
          Note Note
    The item no2.
This activity specifies the RFC connection SAP-OSS and the corresponding RFC user.  <---- Is this mean I must have install and setup my Saprouter so that the SAP OSS connection is working before I can completed the SAP Solman Maintenance Optimizer setup?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Just clarify my question.
I would like to run tcode "Solman_setup" to activate my Maintenance Optimizer for my new install SOLMAN & ECC6 System.
The reason is I need to download service pack for my ECC6 system.
Now I have some confusion on the "Solman_Setup" prerequisites
    Prerequisites
You have installed the SAP Solution Manager and satisfied the following configuration prerequisites:
      1)   The license key is installed.  -
    >OK
      2)   The profile parameter /ICM_HOST_NAME_FULL or SAPLOCALHOSTFULL is set----
    >OK
      3)   The Transport Management System (TMS) is configured. -
    > Not sure, Is this mean I have to setup my TMS in all the ECC6 system? Example --> DEV, QAS and PROD.
      4)   The connection to the SAP backend system exists and works. -
    > What is this mean? I need to Setup RFC connection manually using SM59? RFC connection from Solman to my ECC6-DEV,QAS, PRD?
      5)   The SAP Solution Manager Java instance is up-to-date. --> not too sure. Can someone explain how this can be checked?
    Thank you very much.

  • Maintenance Optimizer = Unnecessary Overhead

Who in the world came up with an idea to make it mandatory to use Maintenance Optimizer for SAP patches? There's no real value in this tool except additional bureaucracy. We still have to download support packages & import them manually. So where's the benefit?
First, we are now forced to spend a week to patch Solution Manager to the required level (although we could safely ignore it until now - we don't use Solution Manager). And then the support package with the Maintenance Optimizer included appears to be buggy and counterintuitive to configure (including the latest one - Level 11)
Maintenance Optimizer is making our life more difficult, not easier. It was clear and simple to download the support packages one-by-one - only what we need. So why to take out a working, trusted and efficient mechanism?
Just expressing my serious disappointment. Make the Maintenance Optimizer optional, not mandatory - hope someone from SAP will read it.

    Hi Marek (and all others),
I've said and communicated that in the past also - here, in the OSS, to the sales reps (they even didn't know it's mandatory as of 2nd of April), to the "complaint management", on official SAP events, in the DSAG et al - no luck whatsoever, everybody is totally convinced, that THIS tool, which is even more complex than everything we have in our company, is THE solution for EVERY problem. The main problem is in my eyes, that the SolMan is the biggest problem itself. The IDEA is not generally bad, but the implementation is unfinished, overly complex, non-intuitive and lacks a consistent setup and "view". In my eyes it's just a conglomerate of transactions put together in "some form" without a real thread.
Criticism and customer input IS being heard here and things became "easier" already but the fact, that customers are URGED to implement SolMan, no matter if they have already another ticket system, monitoring infrastructure, implementation tools, project management etc. is the wrong way, it's pure pretentiousness. And even if you don't use anything of those nice features, it's WAY too bloated to just download SPs.
And you still don't need SolMan to download - you can still select them one-by-one without everything, you just have to download from the download basket instead of direct clicking on a link in the browser, that's the only change so far and I'm VERY happy with that.
Don't expect some official person from SAP stating on this here, that decision was made at management level @ SAP and I'm sure that SAP internally there are many people thinking the same way but via customers the strategy must be consistently communicated and thus nobody from SAP here will say anything against it, even if they think likewise.
I still have hopes, that, after Agassi is gone and Plattner is back (well, at least a bit), winds will change again back to business, back to quality and back to less intrusive and less presumptuous customer interaction.

  • Maintenance Optimizer Configuration Guide

    Hi All
I have a fully installed version of Solution Manager 4.0 SP12 and I am looking to configure the Maintenance Optimizer for monitoring our ECC and BW systems.
However, I feel that rather than using the wizards I need to set it up step by step.
My question, is there any documentation on how to set this up from Start to finish?

  • Local logical system is not defined-Maintenance Optimizer Config

    Hi,
When I try to configure Maintenance Optimizer in SAP Solution Manager 7, it gives me an error saying "Local logical system is not defined"
But I have created a Logical client using SCC4.
And the other thing is for this created client, does not have any users on this client, If I run,
    SQL> select bname, UFKLAG from sapsr3.usr02 where mandt='400';
    Answer is "no rows selected"
So I cannot even login in to my new client as well. I tried with SAP/PASS no use. I tried to re-set sap by deleteing it nothing helped.
my login/no_automatic_user_sapstar parameter also have 0 (But this is in Red, I dont know why its like that)
Please help me to rectify both these issues. Issue with Maintenance Optimizer and loggin in to the new client.
    Thank you!

First of all, 'Logical System' and 'Logical Client' are two different things.
    For Client Problem:
You did create a client in SCC4.
    1. did you create a logical system via BD54 and then did you assign that logical system to this newly created client ?
    2. did you perform a local client copy to put data into this new client from an old or from a standard client like 000 ?
If you didn't perform above two things, then please do. Only then, you will be able to see some data in this client and will be able to to select statements, And, obviously the SAP*/PASS login (login/no_automatic_user_sapstar should be 0 after reactivation of profile and restart of the instance)
    For MOpz issue:
Could you please search in sap marketplace for any particular note specific to MOpz ?

  • Maintenance Optimizer in Solution Manager 3.2

We are experiencing the sheer joy that Solution Manager is, while trying to configure the Maintenance Optimizer.
From the document MOPZ_Component32_vers4.pdf document that is for SP15 for SolMan 3.2, we are confused by this section on Page 6.
"Your system administrator must have performed the following Customizing activities:
&#56256;&#56440; Maintain User for Communication with SAP Service and Support
&#56256;&#56440; Assign S-User for SAP Support Portal functionality or with the transaction AISUSER
Your S-User must be assigned to the same customer or corporate number as
the S-User which your administrator entered in the SAP-OSS RFC destination."
We just don't understand the last sentence.  You enter an S-User in the SAP-OSS RFC destination in sm59??  Where??
Currently in AISUER I have an entry, with my SAP User ID (eg. FRED) and my S-User ID in the 'Contact Person' column (e.g. 123456, my S000123456, shortened).
We can access the Maintenance Optimizer, but packages are not visible there.  No error is reported.  I have the necessary Roles.  Are these the correct values?
Our SAPOSS Rfc is functioning, as user OSS_RFC. What the document is trying to say about the relationship between this RFC and a service marketplace S-User is unclear.
Any assistance appreciated.  Remember, SM 3.2!

    Hi,
You can download this to desktop or you  can transfer same to server(/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/)
You have to uncar using SAPCAR.
Also you can directly upload from front-end using spam/saint as well.
Then apply the same using spam/saint.
Let us know if you need any clarification.

    Hi,
i had the same problem and i solved it with note 1090202 this problem is caused because of a missing customizing setting.
I dont know how the creater of this thread could be so egoistically and mark this thread as answerded without posting the solution. I think this is a insolence.
( He mentioned the same not as i do, but he didn´t wrote that this was the final solution)
I hope i can help somebody with posting my solution!

  • Problem with activating Maintenance Optimizer

I have reached the final stage of the configuration of the maintenance
optimizer.  I have implemented all of the required notes in the MOPZ
collective note 1024932 (Notes 1008717 - HMTLViewer:  Postdata of
length more than 255 gets truncated, (note 950975 is n/a for my system
we have SAPGUI 7.1), Note 975510 - Corrections for calls/interfaces
implmented incorrectly, and 1004691 - SNOTE:
OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED when you implement a note, and the strongly
recommended note 997780 - Maintenance Optimizer:  Checks that should
    not be executed.
When I try to run the report SM_PREP_MAINTENANCE_OPTIMIZER after
implementing note 990534, I get the following error:
For object SOLAR, no sub-object SOLMAN_CONFIG is maintained
    Message no. BL011

I have verified all of the steps in the document "Step by Step
Configuration of the Maintenance Optimizer".  I have also done the
basic IMG settings under Solution Manager in the IMG.  I did not
do "Activate integration with the Change Request Management".  We are
    not using Change Request Management.
Has anyone seen this type of message before?  I could do the BC Sets manually but I want to use the report.

Thanks Lars.  I opened a ticket with SAP and it looks like you can ignore this:
    Hello,
You can ignore the message. It is displayed because when the report
runs we try to write the log to the sub-object SOLMAN_CONFIG, which does not exists with Support Package 9, due to it you get the message.
Regarding the 02 options to configure the Maintenance Optimizer it
just occurs becasue the report was not available with Support Package
9 of SAP Solution Manager, however due to the increasing number of
customers that required an easier configuration for the Maintenance
Optimizer we decided to make the report available through the note.
So there is not difference between the 02 configuration options.
The report does exactly the steps described in the alternative
    configuration.
    I'll give you full points!!
