ChaRM: Transport of Copies

Hi Team,
I have configured ChaRM for normal correction (SDMJ). The standard SDMJ process is, when i execute the action "Complete Development", it sets the status of the normal correction as "To be Tested" as well the transport of copies also will be created. But in my case, the status of the normal correction is set to "To be Tested" but the "transport of copies" is not getting created parallelly. If i go to task list and execute the task "Create transport of copies", the "transport of copies" is getting created.
How to automate this task in the task list, so that when ever, i execute the action "Complete development", it set the status of the normal correction as "To be Tested" as well the "Transport of copies" also getting created in background?
Your guidance will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Kumar

Dear Kumar
I think it's related to how the transport request was made, if it was made in se01 for example and not by ChaRM I think you don't have the automatic creation of transport of copies. Is that the case that your transport request was created outside ChaRM ?
Please check following SAP notes:
Note 1150426 - Registering transport requests in ChaRM
Note 1134993 - Checking transport requests outside ChaRM

  • ChaRM - Transport copies

    Hi,
We are implementing ChaRM and have the following situation.
In our landscape we have two system CRM, ERP, but we have QAS only for ERP.
Then form CRM we have CRdev --> CRprd and when I create normal correction in ChaRM the both kind of request (original request and test transport) go to CRP.
The question is How do I do for only request about customizing/workbenchnot transport of copies go to CRP?
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

    Hi Christian,
Thanks for your answer but, I had tested the SDMI before.
    I have the following situation:
1.Using SDMI, all transport release go to CRPRD doesn't matter if the correction was "tested successfully", because of this I needed to use SDMJ for only correction "tested successfully" to be imported to CRPRD.
2.In our landscape we have another system like R/3 and this system has QAS. Then if I change the u201Cnormal correctionu201D Iu2019ll have problem in this system.
Do you know if is there a way to configure transport of copies for each system?
    Thanks

  • Job to Import Transport of Copies

Hi, we are implementing CHARM. In case of regular correction, when i say TEST Transport, it creates copy of that transport and release so that copy is in Buffer of quality system. But i want to automate that process. My question is , is it possible to schedule any job which imports only Transport of Copies (i.e. any request of type T).
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Hello Powai,
Have you looked over this blog post?

  • Java Transport of Copies

    Hello Experts,
Is it possible to send Transport of Copies for Java transports since they technically don't have their changes assigned to the tasks below the transport but instead at the transport level?
How can you send Transport of Copies for Java transports within Charm?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hello there,
As far as I know, CTS+ does not support transport of copies for Java objects. ChaRM operates assuming such a limitation of transport of copies for Java systems.
Just as an example: iIn the early days of integration of CTS+ with ChaRM, the normal correction document for Java systems had to be the SDMI, because the SDMI does not include any actions about transports of copies. Now the transport of copies actions are not triggered for Java systems in standard SDMJs.
    Hope this helps.

  • Normal Correction flow & Transport of copies

    Hi,
I am performing following steps for Normal Correction. But when I first time schedule the imoprt job, nothing is moved to Quality system.
    u2022     Action u2018Set to In developmentu2019. Status changes to u2018In Developmentu2019.
u2022     Perform action u2018Create Transport Requestu2019. Transport Request (ID6K900342) created.
u2022     Change the Maintenance Cycle phase to u2018Development with Releaseu2019
u2022     Developer completes the work & releases the Task in satellite system
    u2022     Action: u2018Test Transportu2019. Creates Transport of copies (ID6K900344)
u2022     Schedule the import job. ( But after executing also nothing will be moved to Quality)
u2022     Action:  u2018Complete Developmentu2019. System creates another new Transport of copies (ID6K900347) for Original Request.
u2022     Schedule the Import job. ( But after executing also nothing will be moved to Quality)
What could be the reason. both the TP copies are in queue only, nothing is moved to quality.

    PK

    Hi PK,
    Let me try to explain:
    NC => 80000001
    1. Create TR
    XXXK0001 (Original TR)
    2. "Test Transport" or "Complete Development"
XXXK0001 (Original TR) -> still not released
XXXK0002 (ToC- copy of XXXK0001)-> is created in DEV
    3. Import TRs to QAS (from task list)
XXXK0001 (Original TR) -> still not released
XXXK0002 (ToC) -> is moved to QAS
    4. Now the changes are in QAS, but is not placed in the PRD import queue. So, you can test it with no risk.
    5. If you have problem, go back to 'In development'
    Correct the problem in XXXK0001
and go to step 2 again.
    6. If the changes are OK in QAS
    - Select 'successful tested'
XXXK0001 (Original TR) -> is released
    7. Import to QAS
XXXK0001 imported in QAS and automatically placed in PRD import queue.
    8. Import to PRD
The ToC is used to avoid import an inconsistent TR into PRD system, because once it has been imported in QAS, the same will be available to import into PRD, without any test.

  • How to import transport of copies to productive systems

    Hello,
I have been experiencing a problem that even the guys from admin could not solve (yet). I should say I work in a development team.
Imagine you have two landscapes, one DEV-QAS(1) to develop big projects and a normal DEV-QAS-PRD(2) landscape where my objects will be imported. After a new group of objects is finished in (1), we ask to import the workbench request in the STMS queue of DEV(2). After this, and after some small test, we create a transport of copies in DEV(2) where we include the first transport, release it and import it to the QAS(2) queue. After the tests in QAS(2) the idea would be to import the transport of copies to productive system PRD(2). But it does not work...
In STMS queue for PRD(2), there is no entry for the transport of copies. Also, when I tried to add the transport request to the import queue (via menu -> Extras -> Other requests -> Add), I get an error message stating that no co-files where found for the transport.
Does anyone know this problem? I suspect it can have sothing to do with the use of a transport of copies, but, if I don't use this kind of transport, how can I get objects from other systems to production?
    Thanks in advance.
    Davide Sepanas, Portugal

    Davide,
    Re your latest questions:
    > 1) Why this problem with transport of copies doesn't happen from DEV(2) to QAS(2), since these systems are also not in the same transport directory?
    >
I think the answer is in your original problem description:
we create a transport of copies in DEV(2) where we include the first transport
    >
When you create a transport of copies you must indicate a terget system and I suppose you enter QAS(2) there. In that case the TMS will add the request to the import buffer of the target system when you export the request from DEV(2). I understand that you never have to add transports of copies to the import buffer of QAS(2) manually, which proves the TMS does this for you. However, for further imports into systems that are not designated as target system of the transport of copies, like PRD(2), the TMS will do nothing of the sort and you must add the request to the queue yourself - which in your case also means you have to forward the transport files first.
    > Can we assume, then, that, where I was working before, all three systems were configured in the same transport directory, avoiding thus the problem with the transport of copies requests?
Yes, and that is the most common way of setting up the transport system. Having separate transport systems really only makes sense when sharing the transport directory between the dev, qas and prd systems (via NFS for UNIX, via network shares for Windows) is not possible, either because there is no local network between the servers or because some security policy forbids it. I'd advise you to certainly ask the question to your system admin.

  • Transport of Copies for Modif. Adjust. Transports during patch application

    Hi Experts,
I've got two transport requests(Modification Adjustment Transports) in the DEV system containing SPAU and SPDD corrections for patch APPL-19, I need to include these Modification Adjustment transports when I start applying patch APPL-19 in my QTY system, wherein it prompts me to include Modification Adjustment Transports if any.
I've been told to release these requests in the DEV system encorporate both these requests into once and create a single request of the type Transport of Copies, and supply the Transport Request No. of this Transport of Copies request when it prompts me for Modification Adjustment Transports in the QTY system during patch APPL-19 application.
Please help me out with the procedure to create Transport of Copies for my case, also if you could post some theory on "Transport of Copies", it would be highly helpful.
    Thanks Alot in advance.

    Hi,
Check the thread for transport of copies creation.
    Request type  Transport of Copies
For theory check http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/57/38e1a94eb711d182bf0000e829fbfe/content.htm and related links as well which mention how to include objects into a request.

  • ChaRM: transport layer/routes used by ChaRM

    Hi!
We have very complex trasport system settings and would like to implement ChaRM with parallel usage of transports in non-ChaRM environment.
We have a lot of transport routes (between DEV:100 and QAS:100) (e.g. SAP, ZDEV, ZFAD, ZGFA, YDAS).
How can we split the transport routes for ChaRM and transport routes for transports without ChaRM?
Which transport routes will be used with ChaRM?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi
as already mentioned in one of my replies to your last thread, ChaRM always (and only) uses the standard transport layer (route) per client.
This one and all other ones can be used for non-ChaRM transports. This is standard TMS functionality.
But you have to check if the "ChaRM check" in your project configuration accepts your TMS settings. Maybe the other transport layers/routes make waves. Then you have to change them...

  • How to use transport of copies

    Hi Friends,
My requirement is to transport se38 programs from one Development client of one server to Development client of another server using transport of copies.
    any idea on this requirement.

    Hi ,
You can try Download/Upload of transports.

  • Transport Organizer SE10: perform transport of copies

    Hi,
I would like to make a "transport of copies" from production system to development system. I collected my objects in a "standard" transport request via RSA1 -> Transport Connection. Then I created a "transport of copies" request in SE10.
So I now have the standard request and a second transport of copies request where I set the development system as target system.
I now need to move the collected objects to this transport of copies request but couldn't figure out how to do this...
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
please perform steps below, some you already covered:
    Transport from PRD to DEV
    1. First collecte it in a workbench TR in Production. and release this request.
    2. Now create a TR as "Tranport copies request" in SE10 . This is 3rd type of TR apart from Customizing TR and Workbench TR.
    3. Include the components of TR released in first step into the TR created in 2nd step.
    4. Now go to edit mode for TR created in step 2, specify the DEV system Logical name as the destination for this Tr.
    5. Now release this TR. And if you refresh the STMS in DEV you can get it in the list. So import it.
So keeping in mind your steps already done: you need to release the first transport (copy the number because you need it at step 3). Then in step 3 you go to the transport of copies request and there is a 'include objects' button/icon in the menu bar. You click this and then paste your copied transport number and the objects will be included. Follow up with further steps.
    Hope this helped,
    regards

  • Transport customizing objects in transport of copies

    Hallo,
my question is, if I can include objects from customizing transport into transport of copies and transport them only into specific system. What is differences between transport objects in transport of copies and customizing transport. Generaly I understand what is diferent between those type transport, but.. My interest is mainly what can be bad with customizing objects in target system after transport of copies and what activities does customizing transport in comparison with customizing transport. Are there any risks??
    thanks a lot for answer
Edited by: Tomas Chudoba on Oct 19, 2010 2:50 PM

    Hi Tomas,
The Transports of copies allow you to transport (sub-)objects in an object list into any other SAP System you want.
Where as Workbench or Customizing requests there is no automatic delivery into other systems for transport of copies.

    Chandu.

  • Revert back/Undo the import of transport of copies/transport files

    Hi All,
We have imported the transport of copies/transport files suggested by SAP Note 810014 into the development and quality systems and the client requires it to be undo the import.
Please let us know how to undo the import
    Regards,
    Venkat

    Hi,
undoing an import the way you would like it to be done is not possible.
In genereal you got four possibilities I can think of.
1.) Undo the changes manually in DEV and transport the request to QAS. This presumes you know what have been changed.
2.) If versioning is active you may activate an old version. This depends on what your transport contained.
    3.) Restore the system.
    4.) Raise a SAP Call.

  • Difference between work bench request and transport of copies

hi-- what is the difference between wrokbench request and transport of copies. when it comes to overwrite originals etc. thanks
i am transporting from production to development and i need to make transport of copies of that workbench request, why i need to do this?

Workbench request - created in the 'source system' where the object was first created. Each object has a 'source system' attribute (table TADIR).
Copies - When transporting from a system other than the 'source system'.
The basic idea is that the 'source system' is the place where an object shall be changed (using a workbench request), while copies can be moved from other systems as well. You can ofcourse override this check.

  • CHARM cannot create transport of copies for BW transport

    Hello Colleagues,
I am facing a problem using CHARM with BW system:
I create Request for Change --> Normal Change --> Transport request
then BW developer uses a task in my transport (takes the task under her name) and attaches several BW objects.
At that time objects in the task are locked.
Then Developer releases the task. At which point the objects are unlocked in the Task, but got instead locked in the transport header.
I am trying to "Pass NC to Test", but facing error: TOC is created but cannot be released because of locked objects.
Releasing created TOC manually gives me the same error.
Is there a solution to this issue?
    Thank you
    Elena

Yes, OSS message came back with recommendation to apply note 1816332 in BW DEV system, after which TOC got created and released with no issues.

  • ChaRM transport route, one development, 2 QA, 2 PRD system landscape

    Hello,
We have a customer who has an ERP system with a transport route which is the following:
One single Development system which feeds, 2 QA systems and then 2 PRD systems.
We are to implement ChaRM and we want to customize the tickets so that every time you execute the import action of a transport request into QA (and later into PRD) both systems QA1 and QA2 are updated and later on with PR1 and PR2.
We would like to know how to support this scenario in Solution Manager using ChaRM.  How do we set up the logical component at SAP, how we define the transport route and layers, and how we define the actions in the SDHF ticket.
    I appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Esteban

    Hello,
We set up a testing environment for change request management. In a solution manager we created five clients.  One single development which feeds two quality systems, and final two production system.  As it was said in the thread we used transport groups in the transport route.  The development system feeds this transport group which feed to import queus in quality systems.  We tested this transport route and transports worked well and arrives into both production 1 and production 2 systems.
Then created a logical component for that landscape, with five sytems.  Then we created a maintenance project using that logical component.  We created a maintenance cycle and then a task list was created which shows two delivery system, and the two productive  systems.  All the groups have the right actions.
However when we created a SDHF correction the system creates the task list only for 3 systems, not for the five of them.
we see that only action groups are created for development, quality 1, and production 1.  No entries for quality 2 and production 2
We try to run the action which is in the general part of the task list to execute the import in multiple systems, it cames out with the correct selection of importing in quality 2 system because it is the transport group.  However an error is raised saying that the actions for  quality 2 are not there in the task list which is true.  Finally, as short term solution, we were able to import into quality 2 and later on pr1 but done manually in the stms transactions which is not what we want to do.
