Checking file exist using file exist operator

Hi all,
My environment is owb 9i. DB is oracle 9.2.0.8
My business requirement is,
If file exists in the landing directory the next instant my mapping should start execution other wise it should wait untill the file arrives there.
How could i achive this functionality???
For this i am utilizing the file exist operator in process flow.
When the file exists in the specified directory i am able to execute the process flow quite fine but when the file doesnt exist in the specified directory the file exist operator is in wait state and even after when the file is placed into the directory, still the process flow remains in the wait state.
please suggest me a way.

Hi Ram,
The problem you are hitting here is that there is no wait activity and no loop activity (yet) in the process flow editor. So it is hard to model this logically.
Would it be a good idea to write shell script that does similar things? You could check for a file, pauze and check again. Then error out or succeed...
In the 10gR2 release of OWB you can completely model this using waits and loops.

How can we get the file name with out payload using sync read.
For normal read (Inbound Spec)we have UseHeaders="true" property.
Is there any property for sync read to read the file name.

Upload file without using file upload UI Element

Hi all.
I need upload a .txt file without using file upload UI Element because filename is not insert by user. The filename is generated by program. I try to use 'GUI_UPLOAD' and 'WS_UPLOAD' but don't work.

As you correctly pointed out we cannot use the gui_upload and gui_download fm's in webdynpro because they require sap gui and WD Components generally run in a HTML or Portal environment.
The only option available is File Upload Element

I want to create a logical file name using "FILE" transaction , i have file path '/xfer/OUT/IDD0230 ' that cureently hard coded in program but i want to avoid hard code .

You need to go to FILE transction, create new entry.
You need to specify Physical name i.e value hardcoded in your program
and corresponding new Logical Path which enduser will be entering.
In code u ned to decode Logical path to physical path as its actual path.

Remove Line feed at the end of the file while using file adapter

Hi All,
I have a requirement. We are sending a file from SAP to FTP using file adapter. we are successful in sending the file to FTP but at the end of the file a extra blank line is created .
Can anyone please suggest how to remove the extra line feed at the end of the file.

To define an additional string as a separator after the last column in a row, specify it here. The system skips this string when it processes the last column (otherwise the system would treat it as part of the last column).
Also there are solved threads which deal with same problem....you can even check them out...

Files created using File.createNewFile appear too late

Hi all!
I've got a problem with creating files - in my code I'm using this method:
File f = new File("path_to_the_file");
f.createNewFile();
And it's work correct, but after some days (application is running all the time)some delays occur.
For example file was created on time e. g. 9:00:00 am (according to entries in trace file), BUT 'ls' command shown this file 15-20 seconds later.
The delay is about 4 seconds a day, and it continuously increases (only restart of the application helps).
This is an issue for me, because other part of my application (written in ansi C) uses these files, and if it doesn't find them in some time frame, then operation failed.
I'm using HP Unix in my work - maybe it helps you.
Does anybody has an idea what's going on?
Is it an OS issue, or maybe something is wrong with my JVM (jre5.0 is used)?
I will be grateful for any suggestions from your side

I have seen problems where Java's "clock" esp System.currentTimeMillis() gains or loses times. This is the time used for logging as well. (So it will appear right in the logs even if it is not) So if you are seeing the file being created later and later I would assume your Java clock is losing 4 second per day.

Issue with " " in file when using file adapter

Hi,
Iam using FIle adapter to load the data from file to a table.
Every thing is working fine, but when ever the record in the file has " " in the data it fails.
Eg:
12|"LOG" logo|Y
I am using file adapter with delimiter | and empty in enclosed by.
When I intiate the process it throws saying expected delimited | but could not be found . But I am not using any enclosed by clause so it should not check for | after ".
Any one have any ideas or face this kind of problem.

Even i faced this issue before...the problem with file adapter is the attribute nxsd:quotedBy takes " as default even if u dont mention it takes the same and now after the quotes it immediately expects | wch is not there in the data and it throws the error...now the fix for the problem is put some symbol for nxsd:quotedBy wch u never expect in the data some thing like less than or greater than symbol ....some thing like below
<element name="FieldTwo" type="string" nxsd:style="terminated"
nxsd:terminatedBy="|" nxsd:quotedBy="<"/>

Error in Receiver File adapter using File content Conversion

I am getting the following error in the receiver file adapter.
Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found: Parameter 'statement.fieldFixedLengths' or 'statement.fieldSeparator' is missing
I am using the below parameters for FCC:

I feel the problem in your content conversion parameters is with
statement.fieldNames and ignoreRecordsetName
When you are confirguring receiver file adapter for file content conversion the above one is not required. Please refer below link for details on configuring content conversion in file adapter

Flat File to Flat File Scenario using File Adapter

Hi Experts,
In my scenario, requirement is Flat File to Flat file through File Adapter in PI. At sender end, we would need to use Sender File Adapter (NFS) and receiver end we would need to use Receiver File Adapter (FTP). File would be coming as a encrypted format, and the file needs to be sent in encrypted format.
Any idea how to proceed with this requirement would be helpful.

Hi Soumya,
You need to choose the FTP in the "transport protocol" option. Then in the FTP connection parameters choose the option Connection Security and assign the value "FTPS for control and Data Connection". Then the "Command Order" will show up below that option and you could leave the default value itself. If you are using Public private key certificates of X.509 then you could choose the option "Use x.509 certificate for client authentication" and assign the values to the "keystore" and "certificate & private key" fields.
Note: To use the FTP with SSL you need to add the CA certificate to the TrustedCAs keystore view.

How to get full path of a file uploaded using file control on a jsp ?

I have a jsp on which i am using a file element (input type="file") to upload files present on the physical file system.. Thats working fine.. But i want to retrieve the full path of the file uploaded for further computation.
What are the possible ways which can give me the full path ?? (e.g. "D:\data\text\Output.txt" )

Some browsers send the full path. Some do not.
You can not affect this in any way shape or form.
All you can count on receiving is a filename - no path information.
So you will have to have some other way for the user to pass along this information.
If they are uploading to a "remote web site" they could specify a folder to put the uploaded file in.
You could classify it and put all image files in "images" and all script files in "scripts" etc etc by default, and let the user deal with it in their own HTML.

Two Files merging using File adapter in Bpel 2.0

I have two different files (File 1 and 2) of same format(Two columns each) , now i want to merge these two files using their data and form a consolidated file (File 3 with four columns).
Please advise on how to make it possible using file adapter.
Example:
File 1 Format: A1 and A2 - are two columns of number and sring type
File 2 Format : B1 and B2 - are two columns of number and string type
Consolidated File 3 Format : A1 B1 A2 B2 - forming a single row if A1=B1 and also populating A2 and B2.

Hi Karthick,
I would say read both files completely. Then create a transform and select both messages as an input creating one output. With XSLT it should not be too hard to combine the two inputs. You could loop on one file and then select each row from the other file. That output can be written to file.
I don't know what triggers the process, but you could either let bpel be triggered by the polling on one file and read the other synchronously. Or read both files synchronously.

Picking up file sequentially using file Adapter

Hi Experts,
I am working on a scenario, where two type of files are coming to the source directory namely "Data File" and "Flag File".
First, all the data Files will be coming and after that one flag file will be coming containing names of all the data files.
I am using two seperate Communication channels using "File Adapter" to pick these files. One for all tha data Files and one for Flag File.
As per our requirement we need to pick all data files first and then the flag file and process then in the same sequence.
Is there any solution to do it without BPM.

I don't think there is any mechanism where in you can direct the sequence of files to be picked ,more over you are using two communication channels .So both will act individually as per the poll interval.For your requirement. BPM Pattern Collect Message suits better as it always waits for Stop message to finish the integration process.In your case stop message can be your Log file.
Then all the data files will get processed at a time as soon PE receives the Stop msg (Log file).

couldn't you simply modify your target DATA type so it will be easier to handle?
For example something like:

In this way file content conversion will be easier (easy)!
