Chemical plant process mapping

Hi gurus
Which mapping senario to be selected for the Soda ash manufacturing plant. Is it REM OR PP-PI.
What are the merits and demerits of the above .
Best wishes
Murali

Hi Daram,
PPPI - Production planning in process industry.
It is one of the production process, where in the product is produced and controled by a DCS or one of the process controlling system, Which can be directly intergated to SAP system.
Here many level of process approvals required example ...shift operateor is given the instuction in SAP PI sheet and he does the production booking,,,which will be approved by shift incharge and then psoted to invenory, same way quality of the product also can be approved....
In the chemical industry, you coordinate the communication between PP-PI and process control during the execution of a process order.
So some process contorl activity are there so better you should go with PP-PI.
Hope it is now clear to you.

  • How do we add a link to process map on the desk manual web page?

Hi: The Tutor demo I used shows a hyperliink to process flows and one can drill down to see the connections between the processes at a high level so the auditor to navigate the different processes and sub-processes. Is there somewhere in the documentation that can show me how to include this? I created a process map document, using the steps in the documentation, saved it with the prefix RE and published it, created a new index, but sadly I can't seem to get a link to this on the main web page. Also when I click the hyperlinks on the Process flow doc, I get a web page error although I used a valid PR doc name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there any additional documentation on publishing the maps and displaying them on the web pages? Thanks so much, Heather

Hi Emily: I'm finding it difficult to understand how the SR suggestions answer my inquiry. Is there any way you can take a look at SR 3-7354806811? , Heather

    Hi Torpedotown,
Can you tell me what version of FlexRIO Adapter Module Support you are using?
The 5761 Low Speed CLIP has a constraint that doesn't work properly with some versions of the compilation tools.  In order to solve this you should be able to upgrade to our latest version of FAM support, or go change the constraint manually.
For the latest version of FAM support, go to http://ni.com/info and enter code "famsoftware"
If you've modified constraint files before and feel comfortable doing it yourself, let me know and I can provide you with the details on how to do that.
    Thanks!

  • Question about documenting process maps and form object properties

Does the new version of Workbench have a tool that allows us to print a report showing the properties of the object used in a form template or process map? For example... showing all of the properties like fonts, size, patterns, defaults, whether or not a field is required, etc...? I am also checking to see if this capability has been added to Workbench for Process Maps?

No it does not but there is a blog entry by John Briinkman that will analyze your form template and give you some of that information. Here is a link to the blog entry:

  • Process Map in Workspace

    Hi all,
We are using a clustered environment in QA.
When we click on a Work Item and then on Work Item Details inside the BPM Workspace and then click on the Process Map on the right hand corner of the Work Item Details , we DO NOT see the Process Map and the server fails.
What could be the possible reason for this?
    Any idea?

I don't think its possible to hide any activities from the process map. Within studio, you can only hide them from your view but even that functionality is buggy....

  • Best Practices for ASAP Inputs - As-Is Business Process Mapping

I am new to the SAP world and my company is in the early phases of implementation.  I am trying to prepare the "as-is" business process maps for the Project Preparation and Business Blueprint phases and I am looking for some best practices.  I've been told that we don't want them to go too deep but are there best practices and/or examples that give more information on what we should be capturing and the format.
I have searched the forums, WIKI, ASAP documentation, and other areas but have not found much at this level of detail.  I have reviewed the [SAP BPM Methodology|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SAPBPX/BPM+Methodology] but again I am looking for more detail if anyone can direct me to that.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
    Kevin

    Hello Kevin,
You can try to prepare a word document for each of your As-Is processes first before going to As-Is Process Design in a flowchart.
The word document can have 7 sections -
The first section can include Name of the Process Owner, Designation, Process Responsibility, User Department(s) involved, Module Name and a Document number for reference.
The second section can include Process Definition details - Name of the major process, Name of the minor process, Name of the sub process and a Process ID for future reference.
The third section can be titled as Inputs - this contains details of - Input, Vendor for the input, Type of Input (Data / Activity / Process), Category of Input (Vital / Essential / Desirable) and Mode of Information (Hard / Soft Copy).
The fourth section can be Process Details. Here you can write the process in detail.
The fifth section to contain outputs of the process, customer to whom these outputs are sent, type of output (report / approval / plan / request / email / fax), Category of Output (Vital / Essential / Desirable) and Mode of Information (Hard / Soft Copy).
The sixth section can be Issues / Pain Areas in this process - Issue Description, Remarks, Expectations, Priority (High / Medium / Low)
The seventh section can be expected reports in future out of this process for internal and external reporting.
    Hope this helps your question.

  • SAP business process maps for mySAP ECC6.0?

Any idea how we can get the SAP business process maps for mySAP ECC6.0?  Is this imbedded in Solution Manager?
    Thanks,
    Phani

    Hello Phani,
I suppose you are looking for the solution maps for mySAP ERP (which contains SAP ECC as a component). These maps are not contained in the SAP Solution Manager, but they are delivered with the SAP Solution Composer, an offline PC tool which allows you to browse and pre-scope your own solution (evaluating your solution). The tool itself including the latest solution map content is always available for download at the SAP Service Marketplace:
    <a href="http://service.sap.com/s-composer">http://service.sap.com/s-composer</a>
You can also view the mySAP ERP - as part of the cross-industry maps -  right here:
    <a href="http://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000338980&">http://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000338980&</a>
The SAP Solution Manager would then come into play for configuring the respective processes (implementing you solution).
    Best regards,

  • SAP defined process maps on SCM

I need SAP business  and process maps on following areas for discrete and process industry.
    1. Order Management process ( Procurement)
    2. Warehouse management
    3. Transportaion management
    4. Demand planning
    5. Inventory planning.
Please inform me the location ( website , sap address etc. ).
    Thnaks.
    Sumit

    Sumit
Typically there is no single process flow defined for any given business scenario within SAP, normally there are a number of alternatives based on industry best practice.
When you have carried out the business blueprint phase and captured these requirements within Sap solution manager you are then able to generate process flows that describe the business scenario.
These are not currently able to generate BPEL or UML models, to do this you would need to use something like ARIS for SAP Netweaver.
Unless the context of the business requirements are understood and without access to SAP Solution manager you might be limited as to the "process flow" view you seem to be after.
Therefore please have a look at the business scenario maps, I would also recommend downloading the solution composer, this should be capable of generating the business scenarios for you.

  • Business Process Maps/ Process Flows for Retail Operations

    Dear All,
I am looking for Business Process Maps/ Process Flows for Retail Operations like forecasting, inter store transfers, ASN, Procurement, Allocation etc.
Kindly provide me with a link, docs, PPts etc.
Appreciation would be in the form of points.
    Regards,
    Jack Silverz

    Hi Jack
Seeing as you only got one reply - I'm jumping in with my 2-peneth.
Seldom have I found process content which sufficiently explains both manual and automated processes in a format which is sufficiently simple to engage discussion (between project teams and business representatives).  Is there a way to strike the required balance - simplicity for the sake of engagement; yet rich enough to record SAP dependencies, system requirements and so forth.
An answer in my opinion is [here|https://ecohub.sdn.sap.com/irj/ecohub/solutions/control2007].  (Honest account - I work for Nimbus.  But you don't have to take my word for it.  Check out our case studies if you like. This approach is being adopted by several strategic SAP accounts several of which are listed [here|https://ecohub.sdn.sap.com/irj/ecohub/solutions/control2007]).
What might partly address your requirement is the [APQC Process Classification Framework|http://www.apqc.org/portal/apqc/site/?path=/research/pcf/index.html] . We took this framework as a starting point for building a model company process map. I cannot claim that it is Retail specific, but we have quite a few retail customers who have adopted Control 2007 and also several supply chain optimization projects which we have delivered.
If this is of interest - we provide a web hosted demonstration environment where you can explore the APQC process content I mentioned above. You can contact me through [SAP EcoHub|https://ecohub.sdn.sap.com/irj/ecohub/solutions/control2007] for more details

  • SAP standard business process mapping

    Hi All,
Can you provide any link or document where I can find standard business process mapping with various SAP modules for Hi-tech manufacturing industry.

    Cool,
The below link should help you.
    http://help.sap.com/bp_hightechv1600/HighTech_DE/html/index.htm
In the area Industry-specific information you will find general industry information and general information on SAP Best Practices for High Tech.
The section Business Blueprint provides a SAP Best Practices Solution Scope document which outlines the processes and functions covered by the SAP Best Practices for High Tech. It describes the various functions and explains their business purposes.
The SAP Best Practices Solution Map shows how various processes are covered by SAP Best Practices and illustrates the preconfigured processes in a consistent, multi-level way, in order to demonstrate the value SAP Best Practices can add to a company.
Under Preconfigured Scenarios, you will find all the scenarios in the scope of SAP Best Practices for High Tech, grouped accoring to the different SAP solutions.
    Hope this information helps too.
    Thanks,

  • REG: PROCESS MAPPING

    Hi All,
I have scenario, in stock transfers from plant to depot,
    1) Depot send the indent to plant in excel sheets
    2) Executive at plant makes the sto( in SAP  for available products and remaining will put in pending orders( makes in excel sheet).
now the requirement how to map the above scenario in SAP.
    REGARDS,
    RAM

    Dear Ram,
-->In SAP you can  process this scenario through Stock Transport Order(STO).
-->You can treat Depo as one of the despatching plant.
-->You can do the STO process between two plants(i.e depo and maufacturing plant).
-->You can create Stock transport Purchase order from Depo plant to the Manufacturing plant
Based on the STO PO you can deliver the products from the manufacturing plant through replenishment delivery.
-->For STO related settings go through this IMG path
    SPRO>IMG>Material management>Purchasing>Purchase order-->set up stock transport order.
I hope this will help you,
    Regards,
    Murali.

  • How to implement in chemical plant

    Hi SCN Gurus,
currently i have one scenario for implementation in a chemical factory. Below are the details.
    Finished product- Sodium Tungstate(ST)
Raw Materials- Tungsten Ore Concentrate (TOC), caustic soda(NaOH)
    Auxiliary Raw Materials-
           a.       Coal
           b.      Sulphuric Acid
           c.       Aluminum Sulphate
           d.      Magnesium Sulphate
           e.       Sodium Hydro-sulphate
           f.        Isodecanol
           g.       Mineral Turpentine
           h.      Ditridecylamine
           i.         Hydrocholic Acid
Strategy should be Make to Stock(10)
Process- Initially they are taking raw material Tungsten Ore Concentrate(TOC) from their group company as baggage shape. Each bag having 1000KG and at the time of charging for one cycle they are charging 4 bag at a time. They have 3 operations. First leaching, second crystallisation and third blending and packaging. Finally after all process they are making Sodium Tungstate Finished product. Manually they are filling finished product into a bag upto 1100kg and then packing into a pallet. At the time of finished product packaging they are generating a batch number manually. They have no by product or co product. For each leaching operation time duration is 12hr and for crystallisation operation 8hr.
So how to map this in SAP? Please help me in this regard.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Siva

    Hi Siva!
SAP ME solution is originally designed for discrete production that does not look to be your case. Though, it might be mapped into a process production too. But for this, you'd rather contact SAP ME Consulting team or check the available documentation on SMP, for example, Business Scenario Description.
