Hi Gordon,
I have applied the various asian language service pack for the Adobe Reader.
However, i am still not able to see the Chinese Characters in the PDF document when click on the PDF at SAP B1's Toolbar.
Step 1 : Update a PLD with Chinese Characters (as text or from database field). Eg. AR Invoice.
Step 2 : Set the PLD as Default Layout.
Step 3 : At AR Invoice, call out an existing Invoice, click on Preview. Chinese Character is able to be previewed and printed.
Convert to PLD.
Step 4 : At AR Invoice, call out an existing Invoice, click on PDF button at the Toolbar. Preview the PDF document. No Chinese Characters are displayed.
Is it due to Localisation? Localisation = Singapore
Please advise.
Regards
Jessie

  • Chinese Characters Not Displayed Properly when iCal sync with Palm T5

    Hi All,
    I am having problem with the Chinese Character display on iCal. I am using iMac Intel Core Duo and Palm T5. I can read on my iMac the Chinese Characters which I typed on the iMac. Also I can read on my Palm those Chinese I inputted on my Palm. But both can't display the Chinese Characters inputed by each other. Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    I assume your flash disk is using FAT16/32...
    You need to specify the character set when mounting it. On the command line...
    # mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/mountpoint -o iocharset=utf8
    To include this option in the default VFAT mount options under GNOME, launch gconf-editor, look for the key: /system/storage/default_options/vfat and add iocharset=utf8 to the list of mount options.

  • Chinese Characters not displaying properly

    I pasted Chinese text into a Rolling title but not all of the characters display.  Some (not many) of them display as an x inside of a square.  All I can think is that some of the characters are not being recognized. If it matters, the text is simplified Chinese copied from a website, pasted into Notepad, then copied again and pasted into the title.
    Help is greatly appreciated.

    John,
    I see that now, but the font I selected (simsun) seems to have resolved my issue. I believe it is a bug if I can display the characters correctly on other app, especially Microsoft.  On Microsoft apps, I can select many standard fonts and the Chinese Characters display correctly.
    Thank you for the link to submit a bug report. When I get time I will submit it, and hopefully they will correct the issue.
    God Bless,
    Mark

  • Chinese Characters not displaying

    I am creating a pdf document containing Chinese Characters. The document renders fine for me. I email it to my colleague in China and when she opens the document everything is there in the document except the Chinese Characters. The graphs (survey data), and all the English text render as expected but every bit of Chinese is stripped out. She emailed the document back to me and sure enough all the Mandarin is missing. I am positive that when I send the document by email the characters are there.
    I also posted the document on the web thinking that some email gremlin was the cause. When my colleague views this document she tells me no  Chinese Characters are visible.  Ideas appretiated. -MikeT

    Now my English pdf docs are not arriving intact (pages and fonts missing). How do I embed fonts in an existing PDF document? Is that possible? Or, did embedding have to happen at the time of creation? -MikeT

  • Custom fonts not displayed when PDF is generated using 10g Report builder

    Hi
    I have two fonts , abc.ttf and def.ttf which I have placed under C:\Windows\fonts. One of these displays a logo and the other displays barcode
    I have added the environment variable REPORTS_PATH which has value C:\Windows\fonts. I have also added entries for PDF Subset in uifont.ali.
    But still when I run the report and out to a PDF file, the fonts are not displayed. They are remapped to some other fonts.
    When I check PDF document properties in Adobe reader, under fonts tab it says
    abc
       Type:Type1
       Encoding:ANSI
       Actual Font: Adobe Sans MM
       Actual Font Type : Type 1
    def
       Type:Type1
       Encoding:ANSI
       Actual Font: Adobe Sans MM
       Actual Font Type : Type 1
    uifont.ali entries
    [ PDF:Subset ]
    # This example shows how to subset Arial True Type font into the PDF file
    # Arial = "Arial.ttf"
    # The True Type font files must exist in any one of the folders specified in
    # REPORTS_PATH.
    abc= "abc.ttf"
    def="def.ttf"
    In Oracle reports builder, I am able see these fonts and select them in my report layout
    I am able to see the fonts in Preview/screen output while running RDFs in my reports builder, but PDF output doesnt display these fonts
    Is there anything else which is required to do ? Do I need to restart the machine after environment variable is added ?

    In one PC were Report Builder is installed, we see "COURIER NEW - WESTERN" font and the RDF created / saved in that font works fine on server. I don't know if this helps!

  • Unicode character not displaying when PDF is created using PDFMaker

    Using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9
    Our company letterhead contains a special character (Unicode 25AA "Black Small Square"). When a PDF is created of a Microsoft Word document (2003 or 2007) using the PDFMaker, that character is not displayed in Acrobat (shows as whitespace). Strangely enough, if I search for the character in that PDF file using the Acrobat search function (query "u/25AA"), the search finds the character, but again, it is displayed as whitespace.
    However, if I create a PDF from that same Word document by printing to Adobe PDF, the character displays correctly in Acrobat. Additionally, if I do a SaveAs to PDF (Using the Microsoft plugin), the character displays correctly in Acrobat. This leads me to believe that muy issue is related to the PDFMaker (as opposed to the PDF printing function) and how the character is embedded into the PDF file. I have tried opening the PDF in other versions of Acrobat, but I get the same result.
    Any suggestions? We would like to utilize the convenience of the PDFMaker for our letters and reports, and not have to use the print function. I can email a sample of all the PDF's I spoke of upon request, but the issue should be reproducable using the following steps:
    1. Open MS Word and type (or copy from the Character Map) unicode character 25AA in Arial font.
    2. Save Word file.
    3. Use PDFMaker to create PDF file.
    4. Open PDF file and view results.
    Any guidance or help is appreciated.
    Phil Hinton

    First, check the fonts in the PDF to be sure that they are not embedded (you are likely correct that there is a problem). What job settings are you using. Try the press or print. Also check the job settings to be sure that ALL fonts are to be embedded.
    Also, check the log file of Distiller (set it to not be deleted in the settings). If there is an issue with the license of the font then the font will not be embedded. In that case you need to find a licensed version of the font or change to a different font.

  • Chinese characters not displayed in Bex Analyzer

    Chinese characters in a BI report display fine in Bex Web, but not in Bex Analyzer (Excel).  Not sure if this is a NW2004s issue, or just an excel config issue. Is this a known issue?

    The problem is fonts. Are you setting a specific font for your dialog? If not, this is a JRE bug. Regardless, you can display the Chinese if you set the font for the dialog using a font that you know contains Chinese glyphs.

  • Dynamic text not displaying when publishing for flash 8

    This dynamic text works fine when the movie is published for
    flash 7, but when i export for the flash 8 player it seems to be
    invisible. Is there any obvious reason for this happenning?
    thanks
    jon

    Ok, thanks, looks like you've pointed me in the right
    direction. I havent fixed it yet though. Heres where i am at:
    eval(theTarget+".buttonPrime").tex.embedFonts = false;
    now i can see my text. of course its using a default font.
    var my_fmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
    my_fmt.font = "arial14b";
    eval(theTarget+".buttonPrime").tex.embedFonts = true;
    eval(theTarget+".buttonPrime").tex.text = "wasssup?";
    eval(theTarget+".buttonPrime").tex.setTextFormat = my_fmt;
    this isnt working. I have added a font object to the library
    and linked it for actionscript using the monkier "arial14b".
    however my text is quite invisible. i have checcked, 'export in
    first frame' for the font object i even tried it with this
    deselected. i have deselected the embed font option on the text
    feild itself. that doesnt work either (unless i dont try to set the
    text format, so long as i accept a default font, its fine).
    so err, help?
    confused
    jon
    ps further to this is have discovered more about this strange
    behaviour. i can set the text to a different string, provided i do
    not try to embed the font in any way. if i set the font to embed, i
    can have the text display with the correct font, until i change the
    text. then it dissappears. also i cannot seem to affect properties
    like font size by means of my TextFormat object. the textFormat
    object also does not seem to affect the font of the text.
    in short, when exporting for flash 8, i cannot seem to
    successfully embed fonts for dynamic text. the only thigs i have
    gotten to work are: static text (or a dynamic text feild with
    unchanged text) with an embedded font, or dynamic text with a
    default font.

  • Country name in Chinese not displaying in PDF

    Hi Experts
    I am working on a Chinese localisation DB and when I export any docs to PDF the country name disappears. Print preview is fine . I have checked the forum and found the following link Chinese Characters not display when PDF for marketing doc which was helpful but unable to resolve the issue even after using different Chinese recognisable font. Just like to know how to get around this ?
    Has any one comeup with this kind of issue ? Any help will be appreciated.
    regards
    Johnson

    Hi All,
    The issue has been fixed. There is a SAP note  1406074 as per the sap note,
    Exporting Chinese/Japanese character correctly, involves a setting of the layout in SAP Business One.
    1. Open the document layout.
    2. Go to Print Layout Designer > Display Document Properties > Format tab;
    3. Tick the "E-Mail Layout" checkbox, and choose a Chinese / Japanese font (E.g. MS Mincho)
    4. Save the layout and set as default.
    5. Export to PDF.
    I had always changed the format to Chinese but never ticked the ' E-mail Layout box'  This is just for information & thanks to Gordon and Rakesh for the inputs.
    regards

  • Chinese and Korean characters not displaying in navigation pane

    I have an issue with Chinese and Korean characters not displaying on the tabs in the navigation pane:
    I have 2 RoboHelp projects (using RoboHelp 8 with the updates installed) to generate WebHelp, one in Simplified Chinese, the other Korean. The HTML files, .HHC and .HHK were sent out for translations. I have set the appropriate language in the project settings, everything almost works, except for the text on the Contents, Index, and Search tabs. (I'm not using a skin.) I have read in various threads that the lng file should be edited using the RoboHelp interface, and this seems to be the crux of the problem. The characters do not display correctly through the RoboHelp UI.
    The computer on which I generate the WebHelp is Windows Server 2003, and I do not have the language packs installed. (And am having problems getting hold of the language packs to install to see if this fixes the problem.)
    Aside from installing the language packs, is there anything else I can try to help resolve the problem? (The characters in the content are displaying as expected.)
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated

    Perhaps something in the Translation Info section of this page might help? (The specifics are for Japanese, but I believe the issue would apply to all double-byte languages).

  • Problems with Turkish characters not displaying correctly

    A user is having problems with certain Turkish characters in particular fonts not displaying correctly (as shown below).
    The two fonts (Gill Sans and Helvetica LT CondensedLight) are used for English language marketing material.  Ideally, for continuity, the same font would be preferred for our Turkish language marketing material rather than changing it to a similar font.
    Helvetica LT CondensedLight
    Turkish character “ İ ” does not display correctly in either Word or InDesign.
    Gill Sans
    Turkish characters “ ş ” and “ ğ ” display correctly in Word but not InDesign.
    My questions are:
    1. For Gill Sans, why are the characters not displaying in InDesign but are in Word?
    2. I've noticed here: http://www.webtype.com/font/gill-sans-family/#glyphs-tab that the required characters are available within the Gill Sans font.  Is this because the font is newer and includes the additional characters?  Would this work in InDesign?

    One of the big differences between InDesign and Word is that Word will happily substitute glyphs without telling you. So, unless your installs of Word and of InDesign are using different versions of Gill Sans (which is possible, BTW) then your s-with-cedilla and your g-with-macron are actually not in Gill Sans but in some other font. I'm guessing Arial.
    It's possible that you have more than one Gill Sans installed (e.g. one in your Document Fonts folder and another in your system fonts folder) that have different glyph complements. Gill Sans has been around a long time, and the version I have from the 90s has no Turkish support whatsoever.
    As far as the capital-I-with-dot, you can check your glyph coverage in a variety of ways. In both InDesign and Word, you can open up a window that shows you all of the glyphs in a font. In InDesign, find it in Type -> Glyphs. In Word, it's called "Insert Symbol" and you can find it in Word 2010 by going to Insert -> Symbol -> More Symbols. I am guessing that the answer to this question is simply that your cut of Helvetica LT has no cap-I-with-dot. You'd need to pick a font that actually has support for Turkish. On WIndows, I use a very full-featured freebie called BabelMap to check font coverage. They have a Web version here:
    http://www.babelstone.co.uk/Unicode/babelmap.html
    but I personally prefer the downloadable .exe file.

  • Adobe Reader Will Not Display Large PDFs

    When using the Adobe Reader app on PlayBook it will not display some PDFs. It seems that it will not display PDFs that are too large.
    Some files that might be too large do not display while smaller files do display in the app. The too large range could be in the 12 MB region where the good range could be 6 MB or less.
    I tried to submit feedback to BlackBerry on this issue but it returned my email saying it could not process my request. I am hoping that they read it here.
    Here is a link to a page with both readable and unreadable files:
    http://www.bossus.com/backstage/product_manuals/?group=2
    A readable PDF is the owner's manual for the RV-3. A unreadable PDF is the owner's manual for the RC-3.

    That looks like a perfectly good PDF, but since it's trying to open in Microsoft Word, that means your file association for .pdf files is incorrect.  You should change it to point to Adobe Reader instead of Word.
