Choosing from multiple itunes libraries with ATV from same computer.

Hello to Apple universe. this question pertains to seeing and choosing from multiple librairies that i created through itunes on my one imac music server.
i created a second library on an attached external drive as my internal is almost full. I was wondering if there is a way to configure either itunes or ATV or both so that when I use ATV i am able to choose from which library to play from. i would appreciate steps to take or if this is an old topic, perhaps a referral link to the correct answer. Running Itunes v.10.6.3 on Imac running v.10.5.8 and ATV running v.6.2   Thanks for your time. John.

If you set up homesharing in iTunes on the Windows computer, using the same ID and password as used with your first library, then both libraries will show up under the computers heading on the Apple TV. When you navigate to the computers section you will be able to choose either library and hence any content from it.

  • Can I use purchase credits from my iTunes account with ATV?

I have some credit from an iTunes Gift card on my account. If I purchase movies and TV shows on ATV (which is logged into my account), will it charge my credit card with use the credits?
    Thanks!

Michele, are you saying this from personal experience. It's been some time since I had any credits on my account (usually just after Christmas when everyone swaps there gift cards for cash with me) but when I did, content purchased on the tv will always debit my credit card, whereas purchases made from itunes on my mac will use up the credit balance before debiting my credit card.

  • Sync multiple iTunes libraries with iPod?

How do I sync several iTunes libraries (selectable by holding down ALT while starting iTunes) with my iPod Touch (4th generation)?
With limited hard drive space on my Powerbook I've chosen to create an iTunes library which more or less just contains podcasts and internet radio stations etc. and use an external drive for another library which contains all my music.
I was hoping I could switch between the different libraries and have my iPod sync to both of them, but alas I get a message when switching over to the "music" library that my iPod "belongs to" another library and that if I choose to use the current one everything will be erased and overwritten.
So how do I prevent this from happening while allowing me to add music from the second library?

I'm not sure if I've got it right but I've played around a bit after reading the above and come to the conclusion that I first need to check (turn on) the "Manually manage music and videos" (and most likely "Open Itunes when this iPod is connected") options in iTunes when I click on my iPod icon on the left column.
But much to my surprise I can still have iTunes automatically (or so it seems) sync my podcasts which makes things a whole lot easier than doing that manually for each podcast update!
For everything else (music, videos, PDF files/books/audiobooks, iTunes U, Ringtones etc.) I will need to manually drag and drop over to the iPod. To make things easier I created a playlist folder named "Manually transfer to iPod" with various playlists inside (just to make it easier to see what my iPod contains from that particular library and to organize things neatly).
And instead of dragging the items from each playlist over to the iPod I simply select the folder, then drag all the items on the right hand side (contents) over to the iPod.
I haven't tried switching libraries yet, but I assume I'll be able to add media from there as well without any problems.
    Was this what you meant?

  • Multiple iTunes Libraries with same media folder

I have an iTunes library on a 2TB Time Capsule that I share with my family. However, only one person can load the library at the same time, and everyone has to see each other's playlists/ratings/etc. What I am trying to do is have 4 libraries (one for each person) that all access the same Media folder, so that whenever someone adds music/movies/apps/etc. anyone can access all of it. Is this possible?

To be honest with you I have only synced a device once, 5 years ago, but I thought you could sync individual playlists from a single library.  In other words, make a playlist for each device.

  • Multiple iTunes Libraries with Window XP

Trying to create and use two libraries under one user. I have an existing 30G ipod video and wanted to make a new library for an ipod Touch under the same user. Was instructed to hold the shift key while opening Itunes and was able to "create new library". Now I cannot open my old library. When I again hold the shift key while opening Itunes there is an option to "choose library", but I can't actually get anything to open. Any help?

The default location of the iTunes .itl file (on XP) is given in the following document:
What are the iTunes Library files?
If you browse to that location when you get to the "Choose library" screen, are you able to open your old library?

  • How do I move one song from an itunes library to another on same computer?

We share one computer (Mac - powerbook) in the household. We have an Itunes set up with two libraries (so we can manage our own ipod playlists, etc.). On occasion we want to move a copy of a song over to the other's library (cause they like the song too). What is the easiest way to do this?

If you are using multiple libraries within the one Mac User account then use the File>Add to Library option and locate the song in whatever folder you keep your music in (possibly the iTunes Music folder). Simply add the song to whichever library you are in from whatever folder the song is located in.

  • How do i set up a slideshow with pictures from multiple iphoto libraries?

How do i set up a slideshow with pictures from multiple iphoto libraries? One library is in my Macbook Harddrive, the other 2 libraries are in an external harddrive. Thank you!!

You can't, simply. An iPhoto Slideshow can only draw from a single library, so you'll need to get all the images into one.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie is on every Mac sold.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
    FotoMagico $99
    Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • Have created multiple itunes libraries but when asked to choose a particular one only a single library shows up???

Have created multiple itunes libraries but when asked to choose a particular one only a single library shows up???

Unless you or your software moved or deleted the files from iTunes on your PC, they're still there. Time to go hunting. I don't know where iTunes stores its files on a default installation of a Windows Vista box, but I'd look in your documents folder for something containing "music" in its title. Before you do *anything* to or with the folder, copy it to a safe location. That way if something you're doing messes it up, you've got clean files with which you can work. Make sure you can see all the files in Windows Exploder by first checking your folders settings. By default Windows often hides important system files.

  • Problem with multiple iTunes libraries!

I've been using a program called PowerTunes that enables easily switching between libraries. I suspect that it may be the culprit of the multiple iTunes Libraries that I have. It's out of control! I've nested Previous iTunes Folders six layers deep!
In addition to this weirdness I've also got multiple plist files and temp files. It's a mess!
When I look at my backup iTunes folder it looks much cleaner. None of the nested folders (pictured above) or the temp files and multiple plist files. Can someone help me to understand this and restore my iTunes library to a normal state??
I've written the maker of PowerTunes but he's just one guy so who knows when I'll hear back from him. The more overt problems I am having include:
    • losing ratings
    • recently added items disappear
    • when I switch libraries, iTunes wants to rebuild the genius library (every time!)
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm noticing that with iTunes 8, iTunes now doesn't keep separate preferences for multiple library locations, which is really crazy. I wonder if it's a bug or if there's a reason they did that. so when you hold option and launch itunes to get to your other iTunes library, this "other" iTunes library is now using the "old" iTunes library's file location. So if you add music to them, then they get all jumbled together and you don't know what's going where.
I'm thinking this is the cause of what's happening to you. When you "keep music organized" or whatever, who knows where iTunes is putting the stuff now. It's really bad. I'm hoping somebody has a solution, or any ideas.

  • Display data from multiple document Libraries in List View Webpart

    Hi All,
I want to display data from multiple document libraries into one list view webpart(custom i have created)
I went through the following link http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ramg/archive/2009/04/22/implementing-a-simple-cross-site-collection-list-view-webpart.aspx
but it tells to display only from one document library.
My motive behind displaying data in the list view webpart is to achieve the functionality of Check In ,Check Out and other OOB features.
    With Regards,

    Hi,
As there is no such OOTB feature, a workaround is to create a visual web part to gather items from libraries and implement functionalities like Check in, Check out files
    in different libraries.

  • I have multiple devices backed up to the same computer each with different data. how do i keep them from syncing all data when i back up or transfer stuff from the computer to a device?

i have multiple devices backed up to the same computer each with different data. how do i keep them from syncing all data when i back up or transfer stuff from the computer to a device? one is an iphone 6 and the others are ipad mini first gens, each ipad has 64gb and the iphone has 128, need to keep the data seperate as they are not all mine

Itunes content and pics are NOT part of the backup that itunes performs.
Backing up, updating, and restoring iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone software
You should transfer any purchases from iphone regularly:  File>Transfer Purchases  , if they fail to be transferred when you sync.
You buy one and only one download.  It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your purchases.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception, but they are under no obligation to allow.

  • How to import photos from multiple iphoto libraries to iPad

How do I import photos from multiple iPhoto libraries from my iMac to the new iPad? I have 4 different iPhoto Libraries on my iMac.
I can import photos from  iPhoto library 1,  to the iPad, but when I import photos from iPhoto Library 2, created on my iMac to the iPad,
it deletes the original photos that I imported from the first iPhoto Library and replaces them with the import from library 2.
I only want to import selected photos from each library to my iPad. Can someone plese help me?

As Ralph has suggested, if you want to sync photos from your computer, you must include all photos that you want to sync - with each and every sync. You cannot import photos from another Main photo folder on the computer. You must create an all-in-one photo library in iPhoto and sync from that folder. You can select one level of sub folders from within that main folder, but all of those folders must be included in the main folder - in your case it is in iPhoto. That is just how the sync process works with Photos.
I don't know how using third party apps affects the photos that you have already synced from iPhoto, but take a look at these apps in this Google search. Maybe Wifi transfer is the way to go for you.

  • Sync manually managed iPod played count etc with multiple iTunes libraries

I have my music and podcasts spread out in different iTunes libraries. So if I sync items, tracks from another library are deleted from my iPod therefore I manually manage my tracks. The downside is when you connect a manual iPod to iTunes your ratings, played date, count don't get synced with the iTunes Library. So I created a simple applescript that syncs tracks on specified playlists on your iPod with matching ones in iTunes. I realise applescripts exist to do this already but I wanted something which required no user input and simply did what would happen if the iPod was in sync mode.
    The applescript:
    tell application "iTunes"
        set iPodName to ""
        set syncPlaylists to {"Music", "Podcasts"}
        repeat with syncPlaylist in syncPlaylists
repeat with i from 1 to count of sources
if the kind of source i is iPod then
set iPodName to name of source i as string
set ipodPlaylistId to (first playlist of source iPodName whose name is syncPlaylist)
                end if
            end repeat
set musicLibraryId to (first playlist whose name is syncPlaylist)
--update every track itunes syncPlaylist with data from ipod syncPlaylist
repeat with ipodPlaylistTracksCounter from 1 to count of tracks of ipodPlaylistId
set ipodTrack to track ipodPlaylistTracksCounter of ipodPlaylistId
set ipodTrackData to {name, artist, album, played date, played count, rating} of ipodTrack
set foundTracksInPlaylist to (every track of musicLibraryId whose ((name is item 1 of ipodTrackData) and (artist is item 2 of ipodTrackData) and (album is item 3 of ipodTrackData)))
                repeat with eachFoundTrackInPlaylist in foundTracksInPlaylist
--use try blocks in case of missing data
                    try
set played date of eachFoundTrackInPlaylist to item 4 of ipodTrackData
                    end try
                    try
set played count of eachFoundTrackInPlaylist to item 5 of ipodTrackData
                    end try
                    try
set rating of eachFoundTrackInPlaylist to item 6 of ipodTrackData
                    end try
                end repeat
            end repeat
        end repeat
    end tell
Mac Mini G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1 GB RAM, ATI 9200 32MB, Samsung 940BW 19" Widescreen TFT LCD monitor

btw if you don't know how to use applescripts. Open script editor, you'll find it in Applications/Applescript/. Open a new window and copy the code in it and press compile. Save as a script and place in your home folder at ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts, create a Scripts folder if it doesn't exist. Alternatively, save as an application, on opening it will do its magic! Make sure an iPod is mounted in iTunes otherwise an error message will pop up.

  • Problem opening documents from SharePoint (2013) libraries with Office 2010 and 2013 components installed

    Hi
I've been encountering the problem of Office files failing to open from SharePoint 2013 libraries with the prefix of 'ms-excel:ofv|u|' etc. in the url. Following the
helpful questions and answers in the forum, I've identified the likely cause as the fact that my main Office installation is 2010, but I also have installed OneDrive for Business 2013 (which I need in order to sync document libraries with my local drive).
The solution I've seen suggested elsewhere of deactivating the SharePoint integration of Office 2013 components fails for two reasons: there is no way (or at least, I can't find one) of deactivating SharePoint integration probably because, deactivating
SharePoint integration would likely stop the syncing of libraries/folders.
One thing that I have noticed in my case that I've not seen mentioned elsewhere is that if I right-click a document and select 'open in new tab/window' the required
document opens directly in the relevant office package. I don't know if this is a useful observation, but it seems to be new information.
My question is, is there a way I can continue to sync libraries and open Office documents directly in Office 2010? My thoughts are possible changes to registry settings
(which I can do, but don't know enough to find the correct ones myself) or (re)installation of software in some appropriate order to leave the correct settings.
I have 'repaired' my Office 2010 installation without any observed affect on behavior.
    Thanks
    Ray
(I've just seen a suggestion that Office 2010 SP2 may fix this issue. I've requested to test this, but whilst this may fix my problem, rolling it out to
other users may be more problematic. In the meantime, other suggestions of solutions are welcome)

    Hi,
According to your description, it is a good way to do a test about office 2010 SP2, here is an article about this issue- limitations of using the OneDrive for Business sync app with Office 2010 applications , it may help you.

  • HT3819 How do I share just one movie (not my entire library) from my itunes library with an authorized computer using home sharing?

How do I share just one movie (not my entire library) from my itunes library with an authorized computer using home sharing?

    many thanks.
    That should be possible.
From his library connect to your library via Home Sharing.
Select the name of the shared library in the source pane of your itunes, and click on the wee disclosure triangle to the left of the name of the library. Does "Films" appear beneath the name of the library?
    Here's a screenshot of what I mean.
Select "Films". In the right-hand pane you should see the item you want to transfer. Just select that item, and click "Import".
Use the same basic technique to get one or a few songs from your library transferred to his library. (The only difference is that you would have "Music" selected instead of "Films".
If you don't want him to have access to other items in your library, you could just switch Home Sharing off on his library after you've done the transfers.
