I had heard about this when HDMI was being used, and someone tried to also use RF. Perhaps Component cables instead of HDMI, and see if RF with Component operate at the same time. Component cables combined with audio are bulky, but will produce the same resolution and quality picture.
I believe it has to do with the copy protection..

Does the IR Extender Cable for Motorola  that Verizon sells online work for Cisco CHS 335 HDC STB?

Thanks for the response. I did call the reps a couple of times and they were unable to help and either told me they didnt know or didnt have one that worked. I have since purchased one that works from an online retailer.

  • Audio problems with CHS 435

Hello all, I'm having audio problems with my FiOS set top box. When I start to change channels I lose audio and can't get it back unless I turn the TV off/on or I change the HDMI source on my TV . Seems after changing a couple of channels the problem happens. I've tried the in home agent auto correct, and different HDMI cables. I have a Westinghouse TV and I'll try a firmware update for the TV and see if that fixes it. Any fix for this and the possibility that it might be the set top box ? I just got FiOS and all is going well besides this issue. Seems that the other STB that are model # 335 aren't having this problem.

Some TVs have had issues with the HDMI handshake and the Audio. You may be required to use the separate bulkier HD Component cables with separate audio cables. Or try it as a solution on that TV.

  • FiOS HD-DVR crashing since adding external eSATA drive

After the recent firmware update, I added an 2TB external eSATA drive to my FiOS DVR.  I'd really been looking forward to this because our DVR had been perpetually 90+% full.  After a couple of reboots, the drive was recognized and showed as a second DVR at 0% full in the DVR Status menu.  Just to make sure everything worked, I scheduled a bunch of recordings to make sure it was utilizing the new drive.
A few days later, we found that the DVR had erased several of our recordings because it was out of space.  Checking the DVR status again, the new drive had disappeared.
After a couple of reboots, it appeared in the status menu again, and the DVR started recording to the external drive.  But a few days later, my wife couldn't find the recordings.  Turns out it had disappeared again.
This pattern has repeated itself several times over the last couple of weeks.  On two occasions, the DVR has completely frozen while we were in the middle of watching something, necessitating a complete reboot in order to watch TV, and interrupting any recording that was going on in the background.  Each time, at least 2 reboots has been required before the eSATA drive appears.
Needless to say, this whole thing is a disaster.  I spent a ton of money and the result is poorer service quality.  What can I do to fix this?

After a few minutes searching I found the link of recommended drives.

Here's a snipet from that page...
Which Verizon FiOS TV DVRs are compatible with eSATA devices?
The following FiOS TV DVRs are compatible with eSATA devices:
    Motorola QIP 7216
    Motorola QIP 7232
    Cisco CHS 435 HDC
Which eSATA external storage devices can I use with my FiOS DVR?
Verizon recommends the eSATA hard drives below for use with FiOS DVR. Customers choosing to install other drive types will assume the risk of compatibility with FiOS DVR and Verizon will not assist with compatibility or performance issues should they arise.

  • Video keeps dropping out???

Had my FIOS installed today, now when watching TV (both VOD and regular television) the picture keeps dropping out for a second or two at a rate of almost once every 10 minutes. As rapidly as 4 minutes between occurrences when it first started this afternoon....
Anyone have any advice? My set topbox is the CHS 435 HDC if that helps....
    Thanks!!!

First change the Quicktime setting to 1.5/T1/LAN
Both Bandwidths should be set to NONE.
Is the cable modem Routing ?
If so open port 5297, 5298 and 5353 for Bonjour. Or use UPnP.
And turn off the Distributing Addresses in the Airport.
If the cable modem is not routing the Airport can Distibute Addresses.

  • Audio problems with Yamaha N12

    Hey,
I'm using the Yamaha N12 digital mixer plugged via firewire with FCP, and I'm having massive audio problems / sync problems: audio is always about 1 sec delayed. I've checked the a/v-configuration and it seems ok to me. The problem does not occur in other audio apps like iTunes or Adobe Premiere.
What could be the reason? Thanks for your help!

  • What is the difference between all of these STBs?

I don't mean for this to be a naive question but I really don't understand it and if someone could explain this, it would be helpful for my own knowledge.  I have the STB QIP-7100 and it's fine for what I have.  I'm assuming that's as "upgraded" as I'm going to get because honestly, I have no intention whatsoever of recording anything and I never will.
But I saw the list of all of these STBs and I was just wondering what the difference is between all of them.  Do they each just have different capabilities?
    http://www22.verizon.com/residentialhelp/fiostv/general+support/user+guides/user+guides.htm
What's the difference between a 7100-P1 vs. a 7100-P2?  Obviously I have the P1 because mine is silver instead of black.
And what exactly is a Cisco CHS 335 HD Set-Top Box?
I have no intention of getting any more upgrades or buying any more accessories until I really have to.

retired me - oh yeah, technological fever, woo hoo!  I'm jumping for joy.  lol...Trust me, I'm far from being a geek.
I already calibrated my TV settings to those recommended by the manufacturer which I found on line.  Having them too high can definitely put more strain on the energy use.
I think I'm definitely set now.  I already have what I need with the STB and flatscreen TV and my HDMI cable and my component video cable for my DVD player.  I think it's easy to get carried away by making upgrades to the point of "overkill" and I think it really can get complicated fast.  I have no idea how my grandmother would have handled this.  She was very unfazed and didn't care much at all when CDs came out.  I definitely inherited her sense of simplicity when it comes to things like this.  lol
In all seriousness, I don't get myself involved in making upgrades until I really have to and I keep things the same for as long as I can, sticking with my need to keep appliances as long as I can until the bitter end and as long as everything works fine, i.e. getting the maximum benefit for the price I paid for the appliances and the service,  I leave everything alone and I'm not ashamed to admit I am pretty stubborn about that because I see that as a good thing.  Change for the sake of change doesn't interest me and sometimes the old way is better depending on what you're talking about.  I kept my old stereo that I grew up with for decades until it stopped working, the kind with a turn table on which I could stack LP records and with the old fashioned turn dial for the radio and the big speakers from the early 70s.  I'm usually "in between" when it comes to any upgrades.  I usually don't bother with any of that until I really have to.  It keeps everything a lot simpler and more relaxing for me.
My DVD player doesn't have the HDMI-DVI capabillity but I'm definitely not junking it just over that.  I get to a point where I'm content with what I have and then leave it alone for as long as I need to.  I always know where to go for accessories but believe me, I'm definitely not a frequent customer at electronics stores.

  • CISCO CHS DVR dropping sound to LCD TV

I have a CISCO CHS 435HDC DVR hooked up to a 32" Emerson LCD TV.  Periodically the sound will stop coming out of the set...and we have to turn the TV off then On.  The installer mentioned something about "HDMI" synching problems with the receivers and that unplugging/replugging the HDMI cable would fix it. (That does work but we found that turning the TV off/on forces the "resych" and the volume returns.
Is there a DVR SW patch for this intermittant sound loss.?

The boxes all have the latest software. You will want to check with your TV manufacturer. Most newer TV's come with updatable firmwares to fix problems such as these. Since every TV is different in this procedure you would need to contact their helpdesk.

  • No variable audio output for Cisco CHS 435HDC set top box.

Background:  Until the other day I had my stb connectected to a TV, using TV sound, with an HDMI cable.  The P265v2 remote volume control changed the TV volume.  No problems.
My new TV & home theater system was recently installed.  We don't use the TV speakers.  While my first preference was to program the Verizon remote to change the volume on my Onkyo receiver, this did not appear to be an option on the remote's programming instruction page on the Verizon website.  Instead, I am directed to change a setting on the remote that makes the Verizon remote change the stb output volume vs the tv volume.  I changed the setting on the remote and ensured the stb box was set up for "variabe" audio output.
Problem:  Using the stb variable audio settings, volume settings 1 through 30 produce the same volume.  (Volume setting 0 produces no volume, as one would hope.)  It appears the "variable" setting isn't producing a variable output as it should be on this unit.
Thinking that maybe the receiver was complicating the sitation, I tried connecting the stb to the old TV and the new TV directly and had the same results.
Now, while I am watching TV, I need to have the receiver remote at hand in addition to the Verizon remote.  It would be nice to have the volume be adjustable as it should be while using the Verizon remote.  I don't like the idea of using a seperate universal remote because then I would lose some of the functionality that the Verizon remote provides when watching TV, using the DVR, watching on demand, etc.
I would like to know if this is a problem just with my unit, or if it exists with all of these units, which would hopefully be fixed with a Cisco/Verizon firmware update soon, hopefully.
    Thank you.

Having same issues with hdmi and optical. Any fix to this.
    Hello,
In order to control the volume on your home theater system, you'll need a FiOS TV Universal Remote that has the 4-buttons on the top for 'DVD', 'Aux'iliary, 'TV' and 'STB'.  The audio receiver would have to be programmed into the FIOS TV Remote, and controlled using the 'Aux'iliary button.
Verizon's 4-Button Universal Remote Controls are available for purchase:
    a) online via www.verizon.com/fiosaccessories
    OR
    b) at a local FiOS TV store (call first to check if they have them in stock).  For a list of stores:  http://www22.verizon.com/support/residential/tv/fiostv/general+support/account+issues/questionsone/8...
Presently, the default remotes for new set top boxes are the 2-button P-265 (newer version) remotes.
Regarding a problem with HDMI/optical on Cisco 435 STBs, check out the following:
    Go to this webpage:  http://www22.verizon.com/Support/Residential/TV/FiOSTV/Receivers/Equipment+Issues/QuestionsOne/12839...
Click on the link for 'Cisco CHS 435 HD DVR User Guide'.
Open the PDF and go to page 22 for 'Connecting to a Home Theater System...'.

  • IMovie 08 and Panasonic HDC-SD5 Camera

Hi Folks I have a Mac (lol), i have a Panasonic High Definition Camera and i have a problem. I connect the camera, i import the clip on my macintosh hd and i create my dvd with iDVD. But when I see my dvd i see that the video is ginned, with a very low quality. Why???
Info: Mac OS X 10.5.6 on MacBook 3.1 with 2.2 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 2 Gb of RAM and Intel GMA X3100 graphic card.
Panasonic HDC-SD5 with 3CCD and high resolution (Full HD 1920x1080). It recorded with the AVCHD format.
    Thank you!!

If you have a PC and the generic software that comes with the camera you can as well.
If iMovie 08 can import high definition video can it not output it on its own as AVCHD (AVC/H.264 - MPEG4) to DVD?

  • What is the best way to transfer video from a Panasonic HDC-SD60 camcorder on to a DVD using iDVD?

I am trying to get my Panasonic HDC-SD60 camcorder to transfer video over to a DVD using iDVD.  The iDVD wants the firewire connection to be used,  No mini USB to firewire line exists.  Any help?

iDVD is part of the iLife suite of apps.
in this collection, iMovie is the 'importer', esp. via usb from AVCHD-devices like yours.
plus editor, I mostly doubt, you haven't to 'clean' here&there your recordings
from there you 'share' to iDVD.
you'll notice a loss of quality in this process due to  cam is HDef, any videoDVD is always SDef .....
