  • Connection of LC/APC fiber patch cords to Cisco Catalyst 6500 $ Cisco Access 3750 Switches

I have an LC/APC fiber patch cord infrastructure and I want to connect it to Cisco Catalyst 6500 & Cisco Access 3750 Switches. what type of transceiver should be used?
I read a note on Cisco website stating the following for Cisco SFP+ transceivers:
Note: "Only connections with patch cords with PC or UPC connectors are supported. Patch cords with APC connectors are not supported. All cables and cable assemblies used must be compliant with the standards specified in the standards section"

Thank you,  but my question is that I have a single mode fiber patch cord with LC/APC connector while cisco stating a note that only use LC/PC or LC/UPC type of connectors with SFP+ transceiver.
So what type of transceiver should I use to connect LC/APC patch cord to cisco switches?  Is there another type or SFP+ still can be used?

    Hi All.
I need to install a new network card on Cisco Catalyst 6500 VSS mode, I need to follow any special procedures or is it only insert the new card and the Catalyst automatically recognizes the card?
    Thank you So mucho.

    Hi,
Just insert the blade and the switch should recognize it. For the 6500 series the blades are hot swap able.

What IOS are you running on your Supervisor 2T? As long as it's 15.0(1)SY1 or later you should be OK. (Reference).
If it's not working with that I'd try reload of the ASA SM module (from IOS cli - e.g. "hw-module <module#> reset" and, failing that, "no power-enable module <module#>" followed by "power-enable module <module#>) while the new Supervisor is installed. Watch the log for relevant messages during that process.

I have InDesign 3 Version 5.0 for Mac. I have a client with a PC who has either InDesign 6 or CC for PC. If I sell him usage rights to my files, will he be able to use them?

...but from what I have read general practice is to charge extra for native files as you are giving over usage rights of the artwork.
Not a lawyer, just been around the block before. It all sort of depends on the client and understandings on both your parts, whether in writing or not. What is their expectation while they were paying you? What was your expectation during the same period? In lieu of an agreement, I think the courts would side on the client's rights.
But regardless, I generally do what Peter wrote unless there is an agreement in writing stating otherwise. One of the reasons why I happily turn over client work is because sometimes the new-hire or new contractor simply doesn't work out and I am often called back into the mix. It's goodwill.

  • Cisco Catalyst 6500 Supervisor Engine 2T Baseboard

    Morning Guys
i have just bought a Cisco 6506-E Chassis, it came out with only the SUP2T Engine on slot 5, i have already stacked 3 switches (3750-X) as my core, i want to replace them with the chassis the problem now is my company doesn't have money to buy the 48 port switch and the fibre switch for the chassis, help me link the SUP2T Engine with the stack and improve my network. i also have the 12 port netgear fibre switch. help with the configuration.

You obviously need to configure the ports etc. but the switch should recognise the module as long as you have an IOS that supports it.
There is nothing extra to do, you just slot the module in.
If you are connecting all your distribution switches to the 6500 then if you don't need a vlan/IP subnet in multiple buildings then you should use L3 connections to the 6500.
Note also that you may want to consider at some time in the future a second supervisor or another chassis as this 6500 with one supervisor is a single point of failure ie. if it goes then there is no communication between buildings.

  • DHCP on Cisco Catalyst 2950 Switch

    Hello
I need to configure my cisco catalyst 2950 series switch in order to act as DHCP server for devices connected to its ports.
Please say me, how to do that ?
    Thank you
    Narek

Please find the sample DHCP configuration for one of the VLANs.
    Interface Vlan1
    description Cisco DHCP
    ip address 10.10.2.1 255.255.255.0
    ip dhcp pool cisco
    network 10.10.2.0 255.255.255.0
    default-router 10.10.2.1
    domain-name mydomain.com
    dns-server 10.10.2.10
    netbios-name-server 10.10.2.15
    lease 7
A 24 hour lease is the default if left out and the netbios-name-server is WINS in the Windows world.
If you want to use DHCP server for other VLANs as well create similar DHCP pools and assign the DG to the corresponding VLAN interface IP.
    HTH, rate if it does

  • Catalyst 6500 Central Fwd Card for WS-X67xx modules ?

    Hi ,
I have a BOM of materials that has this part number in it.
WS-F6700-CFC Catalyst 6500 Central Fwd Card for WS-X67xx modules 1
Though on Cisco configurator it doesnt show up. Is this what it should be WS-F6700-DFC3A Cisco Catalyst 6500 Distributed Forwarding Daughter card-3A for 67xx modules
    Are they the same ?
    thanks
    Allan

    Allan,
Both the cards are not same. One is the CFC i.e centralized forwarding card and the other is distributed forwarding card. DFC cards downloads the CEF cache tables on them, both the FIB and the adjacency table.
WS-X67xx modules which are sfipped with CFC's are field upgradable to DFC's.

And in the other side use a Cisco Catalyst 2960X-48FPD-L (have two SFP+ bays) whit SFP-10G-SR=  (multimode fiber)
    this solutions works???
    another question:
WS-X6908-10G-2T card   comes equipped with DFC4. What mean that? requiere another slot in a 6500 chassis??
    thanks

    Hi,
    Q1:- yes it should work.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-6500-series-switches/data_sheet_c78-648212.html
    2)
WS-X6908-10G-2T card   comes equipped with DFC4. What mean that? requiere another slot in a 6500 chassis??
Answer: No DFC4 is the sub-module which would sit on the line card WS-X6908-10G-2T. It doesnt require any spare slot.
WS-X6908-10G-2T: comes equipped with DFC4 for distributed forwarding, supporting 256K forwarding entries, increased ACL entries to 64K, increased Netflow entries to 512K, and increased IPv4 forwarding speed to 60 Mpps

  • Cisco 5508-WLC using MS NPS as RADIUS Server for EAP-TLS

Has anyone experienced a problem getting a Cisco WLC to work with MS NPS server? We've done it before albeit with differnt code versions.
I have a Cisco 5508 WLC running 7.0.116.0 code hosting a WLAN configured for WPA2 with 802.1x for authentication.  I have two Windows NPS servers configured as the RADIUS servers for EAP-TLS authentication. Via debug info on the WLC I can see the 802.1x handshake take place with the wireless client and the WLC as well as a successful transmission of an Authentication Packet from the WLC to one of the RADIUS servers. However on the WLC I see repeated RADIUS server x.x.x.x:1812 deactivated in global list and on the NPS server I'm seeing event log errors indicating "The Network Policy Server discarded the request for a user"  along with the pertinent auth request info that I would expect the NPS server to receive from the WLC.
Based on the WLC debug info I'm never actually getting to the EAP-TLS certificate authentication part. It seems the NPS servers don't like the format of the initial RADIUS authentication request coming from the WLC and so don't respond whcih in turn casues to WLC to switch to the other NPS server which produces the same issue.
Any ideas of what might be the issue or misconfiguration?

    Jim,
I wanted to know if you can setup wireshark on both of the boxes and see if your are hitting the following bug:
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCti91044
It looks as if the WLC is retransmitting the client traffic from one radius session with primary over to the secondary in which the radius state attribute that was assigned from the primary server is probably hitting the secondary server. Therefore if the state attribute isnt assigned from the secondary server it will discard the packet.
May need to open a TAC case to see if this issue is on the 550x controllers also.
    Thanks,
    Tarik

  • Cisco ACL for Wireless VLAN's

Hi all and Merry Christmas to you.
So I have been off work for a few days now playing in my lab, I have configured a number of VLAN’s to separate Data, Voice, Servers, Games Consoles and Guest on my Cisco 1142, I know it may be a bit of an over kill but it’s just me doing a bit of lab work and learning
What I’m after doing now is setting up ACL’s to deny the Guest and Games Console VLAN from accessing my LAN and I’m not sure where to start, I want to consoles only to be able to connect to PSN and Xbox networks as well as my DHCP server, and the guest network to connect to the web but again not my LAN, this is for users who come round with phones and tablets.
    My lab look like this:-
    Broadband > Cisco RVS4000 (soon to be ASA) > WS-C3560 > 1142 AP.
My DHCP server is on VLAN 6 with an IP address of 192.168.6.241
    VLANs are: -

At the minutes I’m just trying to stop Console getting to the Home network before I move onto the rest
I have not got a clue where to start or where to place the ACL’s, would they be on the Switch or the AP itself?
Hope you can help me out.
    Happy new year

  • Is it Possible to Create 13 DHCP pools in CISCO-WS-3750X-24S-S for 13 VLANS-1000 users?

Total No of VLANs = 13 (Including Wireless network and Management VLAN)
Client has no DHCP server and has decided to configure the Distribution Switch 3750 as DHCP server.
Can we configure 12 DHCP pools for LAN users and wireless users in the Cisco WS-3750X-24S-S switch?
Can It Handle the DHCP Load of the LAN users and Wireless users together?
The only thing I can do is to Move the Wireless DHCP in the Wireless LAN Controller.
Please suggest if configuring the 12 DHCP pool in the Distribution switch will be Appropriate for this network infrastructure.
If you have any other query please feel free to ask.

Can we configure 12 DHCP pools for LAN users and wireless users in the Cisco WS-3750X-24S-S switch?
I believe you can configure this much DHCP pools.
Can It Handle the DHCP Load of the LAN users and Wireless users together?
It can.  DHCP is not CPU intensive.  Plus you have lease time.
Besides, it's a small network.  Should work.  The main thing though is this:  Why so many VLANs?
Downside is you don't have much features.  You can't trace a MAC address from weeks ago.  DHCP profiling is also not supported.
