Cisco Jabber client to support Multiple e-mail domains

Hi All,
Per the following link, CUCM an IM&Presence starts supporting multiple domains at version 10:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/10_0_1/delta/CUCM_BK_C206A718_00_cucm-new-and-changed-1001/CUCM_BK_C206A718_00_cucm-new-and-changed-1001_chapter_010.html#CUCM_RF_I31EA3AB_00
However, we have heard from Cisco that there is NO Jabber client that works with version 10 to support multiple email domains.
This may or not may be true.
Can someone who has connection with BU confirm this? If there is Jabber client that supports multiple email domains, what is the version and when is it going to be available?
Thanks,
Mustafa

How are you dealing with this DA restriction?
Also, what are your comments about the use of Domain Alias vs. Domain with inetdomainbaseDN pointing to my organization? Which one was your choice?
Thanks,

• A list of supported Android Phones for Cisco Jabber Client.

Hi there,
I opened a discussion before about the Cisco Jabber Client for Android phones.
This product from Cisco is only official support bij a several mobile Android telephones. (very poor)
As everyone knows is that the mobile market is continious in development. Since a half year the official support phone list is still the same, but a lot of new Adroid phones are now on the market.
It's even so worse that some of the Cisco supported phones, are not available anymore in the market.
- Samsung Galaxy S2 becomes a Samsung Galaxy S3
- Samsung Galaxy TAB is still there
- Samsung Galaxy S (are not available anymore) The S1 or S Plus are now becoming the Samsung Galaxy S Advanced.
At what are the alternatives?
Still the list on the documentation is out-dated.
See:
Samsung Galaxy S International (GT-I9000) with Android operating system (OS) Version 2.2.1 or 2.3
Samsung Galaxy Tab International (GT-P1000) with Android 2.2.1 or 2.3
Samsung Galaxy S II (AT&T) with Android 2.3
To use Cisco Jabber for Android on the Samsung Galaxy S device, it is important that you upgrade your handset OS to Android Version 2.2.1 or 2.3. See the manufacturer/carrier site for more information about how to update the OS on your device. Minor voice quality issues may be experienced depending on the device used.
So hopefully Cisco is still working on the Cisco Jabber solution, and a lot of mobile Android phones will be supported so the road to success will be open.
Hopefully someone can help me to list of tested and supported phones (Official bij Cisco)
Kind regards,
Edgar

The official list of tested Android phones is what you've already discovered. With the next release of Cisco Jabber for Android, I'm sure it will be updated.
While the official list of what we tested is short, the client will work on many Android devices and TAC will provide support if you run into technical issues; provided the issue is with the Cisco Jabber client itself, and not with the OS of the manufacturer.
If there is a specific Android phone you are looking to have officially tested by Cisco, PM me with that information and I'll work with you to see what we can do to get it added.

• Cisco Jabber client with other telephony devices

Hi,
I am completely new to Jabber and just started to understand Cisco jabber client for windows.
I understood that the jabber client supports xmpp for IM and CTI integration with Cisco Call manager for call control.
Is there a provision to integrate the jabber client to non-Cisco devices like Avaya or nortel or an ITS Netrix turret?
Integrate direct or indirect - as in with a plugin
Please do direct to any available documentation that would help
Thanks

Hi,
Welcome to Jabber! Yes, the client supports XMPP and CTI.
And yes you can use your existing Avaya / Nortel phones using a Cisco UC feature called Extend and Connect. No plugin required! It allows Jabber to CTI control any phone with a dialable number, including public phones. You can read more about the Extend and Connect feature here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/9_1_1/ccmfeat/CUCM_BK_C3E0EFA0_00_cucm-features-services-guide-91_chapter_0110010.pdf
To configure it for Jabber for Windows you can follow these instructions:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_1/JABW_BK_E4CC9599_00_environment-configuration-guide_chapter_010.html#JABW_CN_EB63387E_00

• Unable to Externally Register Phone Services on Cisco Jabber Client via Expressway E

Hi,
I have currently deployed Cisco Jabber along with Expressway C and E for external regeneration without VPN. I have successfully registered IM and Presence service externally on the internet and I am able to chat with other Jabber users.
I am not able to register phone services for Cisco Jabber client who are registering externally over the internet without VPN.
I have checked that all the users are able to use IM and Presence along with Phone services in the internal network and over the internet using VPN. I have configured the required DNS SRV records on both the internal and external DNS Servers.
I am attaching a screen shot of the Jabber Client that is registered over the internet along with this post for your reference.
Appreciate if you can share your thoughts on the same.
Please do let me know if you need any further informaiton.
Thank you.

I am testing with an android device, and I had to add a "digest user" on the BOT device in order for this to work. Phone services are now connected.

• Unable to select 'Use Phone for audio calls' on Cisco Jabber Client 9.6 for Windows

Hi,
I have recently deployed Cisco Presence Server and integrated with Call Manager 9.1.2. I have successfully deplyed 6700 users on IM & Presence. Some of the users requested for Cisco Jabber with phone control.
I have added CFS client on the Call Manager and associated it with the same extension numbers from their desk phones. I am currently able to make audio and video calls for these specific users. I am currently using Cisco Jabber Client 9.6 for windows. I have users both daisy chained to their desk phones and who are not. Can you please confirm if it does make any difference.
Problem Faced -
I am not able to use to option use phone for audio calls. The phone comes down with a cross sign on it. At the same time Cisco Jabber by default uses the client and it works as expected.
Can you please let me know if any of you guys have faced a similar issue.
Please let me know if you need any information regading the configuration used.
Looking forward for your valuable comments.
Thank you.

Hi Will,
I am attaching the screen shot for the END USER on CUCM 9.X that has been configured on Cisco Jabber.

• Directory Caching issue with Cisco Jabber client for Windows

Hi ,
I am facing cache issue with Cisco Jabber client for Windows. If I do any change related to modification or deletion of contacts in Active Directory/ Callmanager, it does not reflect in the Jabber. Because jabber takes the contacts from the locally stored cache file in the Windows system.
Every time I have to remove the cache file to overcome this issue, practically it's not possible to do the same with all the Widows users. As, if any employee leaves the company and still I can see his contact appears in the "Cisco Jabber client". I have not seen this issue with Android/Apple iOS.
Is there any automated way to remove the cache file?
Here is the detail of CUCM,Presence and Jabber.
CUCM version: 9.1.x
Presence : 9.1.X
Jabber : 10.5 and 10.6

Hello
On our environment we had to install a dedicated Microsoft Certificate Authority "just for Cisco Jabber usage" to house the
Network Device Enrollment Service.
Our certificate for the CUPS were generated on this Certification Authority too.
I discussed this certificate matter with my colleagues this afternoon and nobody seems to remember how these certificates were deployed into the
Enterprise Trust store for the users.
But I think they asked all 400 users to accept the 3 certificates by answering "yes" to the popup instead of using a script deployed by GPO...
I wish you success with that deployment and really hope you have a technical partner that *Knows* this subject.
Our partner left us alone with that unfortunately.
Florent
EDIT: If the "Certutil script method" works, please let me know. This could be useful in our own deployment.

• Cisco Jabber Client for Linux

Are there any plans to have a Cisco Jabber client on linux?

Mike,
The larger body of use case and development for Jabber has centered on Windows and mobile iOS and Android devices. That's not to say that there isn't a contingency of customers that want a Linux client but, as of today, there is no "Jabber" client for that platform. However, I've heard this question asked in a few different forums and the answer thus far has typically been one or both of the following:
1) There is a Jabber SDK, which could potentially be used to custom develop an application.
2) Use 3rd-party XMPP client (e.g. Pidgin)
As for an official answer on "will there be in the future" with a yes/no/maybe and/or a possible timeframe, you would need to reach out to Cisco or your trusted partner as roadmap items cannot be discussed without having a non-disclosure agreement in place. That's what Jamie is getting at in his response.

• Softphone feature for Cisco Jabber Client

Hello everyone,
I have a CUCM cluster v.8.6.2 and a CUPS v.8.6.4. I've installed my full CUWL licenses as well as my CUP Licenses AND the Jabber for Everyone COP file. I've managed to install Jabber on Mac and on Windows and have all the features such as Chat, Desktop phone integration and Visual Voicemail with Cisco Unity Connection working as well. The only feature I'm having a huge hassle getting to work is the Softphone feature. I've tried adding a CUPC device with the user (btw everything is integrated and uses LDAP for authentication) as the digest account for it as well as the Owner ID. I've tried adding a CSF device as well (I remember reading it somewhere) but the Jabber client never discovers a Softphone device and all of the options on the client are grayed out for me to put in the device settings. I thought I saw it once looking for a device name CSFACILLI (ACILLI being my username) in the System Diagnostics for the Jabber for Mac client but now it just shows:
Soft Phone Server
Server Address: cucm02.mycompany.net
Server Port: 2748
Server Protocol: --
Device: --
Line ID: --
Status: Disconnected
Any help or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It looks like it's trying to get CTLFile.tlv from my TFTP servers (which are my subscribers). I went under TFTP File Management under OS Administration on the Subscribers and no such file exists. Is this something I have to download from Cisco? It does look like it's trying for the correct device, just can't get the Configuration File it needs... Your thoughts?

• Upgrading Cisco Jabber Client

Actually alI final users are running Cisco Jabber for Windows version 9.0.1, is there an automatic process to install new client version 9.0.2 using jabber-config.xml configuration file??
Regards,
Juan Carlos Arias

Hi Juan,
No worries. I've just checked a working set up. I'll try to describe the exact behaviour to see if that helps.
Here is the setup:
jabber-config.xml contains the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
http://server_name.domain.com/update_jabber.xml
EDI
True
sAMAccountName
http://server_name/dir/sAMAccountName.jpg
telephoneNumber
update_jabber.xml contains the following:
9.0.2.9453
9.0.2
false
Cisco Jabber Update
Please install the new version of Cisco Jabber.
Please visit our http://mycommunityurl.html">community to give us your feedback and to view the latest discussions.]]>
http://server_name.domain.com/dir/CiscoJabberSetup.msi
Here is what I see in the client:
If I'm signed in to the client, I can select Help > Check for updates. The client should check if an update is available and prompt me to download the update and then install it.
If an update becomes available, the next time I sign in the client checks for the update and prompts me to download the MSI and install it.
The behaviour I see is that a pop-up notification displays and asks me if I want to update the client version. When I click OK on the pop-up, a progress bar shows the status of the download. When the download completes, I'm prompted to exit the client and then the install program guides me through the installation process.
Again, I hope you find this helpful. Please let me know if you still have issues with the automatic updates and I can try to help some more.

• Cisco Jabber client not displaying Contact Photos

Hi All,
We have configured an external webserver to store our contact photos. But I couldn't get it working on Jabber windows clients. It works for CUPC8.5. I run the wireshark on webserver and can't see any request from Jabber client. xml file is -
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<config version="1.0">
<Directory>
<DirectoryServerType>EDI</DirectoryServerType>
<PhotoUriSubsitutionEnabled>true</PhotoUriSubsitutionEnabled>
<PhotoUriSubstitutionToken>sAMAccountName</PhotoUriSubstitutionToken>
<PhotoUriWithToken>http://webserveraddress/people/sAMAccountName.jpg</PhotoUriWithToken>
</Directory>
<CUCM>
<PhoneService_UseCredentialsFrom>presence</PhoneService_UseCredentialsFrom>
</CUCM>
</config>
Can someone please advise what's the issue.

Hey Abhi,
In the PRT, I see the following:
2012-05-28 09:02:16,733 DEBUG [0x00001654] [s\feature-libs\config\src\Config.cpp(74)] [csf.unified.config] [Config::getValue] - result [true] key [PhotoUriWithToken] value [http:///people/adack.jpg]
I understand that you changed the parameter to see if we can even pull a single image for anyone, however, what I see next is:
2012-05-28 09:02:16,733 DEBUG [0x00001654] [rdsource\ADPersonRecordSourceLog.cpp(50)] [csf.person.adsource] [WriteLogMessage] - Configuration::SetConfigurationParameter - setting configuration parameter [PhotoSource] to [adack] //This needs to be AD Parameter which I see you used earlier
2012-05-28 09:02:16,733 DEBUG [0x00001654] [rdsource\ADPersonRecordSourceLog.cpp(50)] [csf.person.adsource] [WriteLogMessage] - Configuration::SetConfigurationParameter - setting configuration parameter [PhotoUriWithToken] to [http://pho/people/adack.jpg]
Do you know where this url is coming from?
I suggest that based on Jason's input and as well as changing the parameter back to the one we want, lets follow this action plan:
1) Exit out of Jabber and delete the files from the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Logs
2 ) Modify the Jabber-Config.xml
Change the Directory Section of the Jabber-Config.xml to the following
EDI
True
sAMAccountName
http://sptde.racq.com.au/people/sAMAccountName.jpg
3) Re-login and then Generate the PRT by Help -> Report Error
Keep in mind if the jabber-config.xml is uploaded on Call Manager, it'll replace any local modification, so we have to update the file on Call Manager .
Once we have the new PRT with the Config provided above, I can work on that.
Regards,
Jasmeet

• Cisco Jabber Client - QoS Config

Hi Guys,
I'll be deploying the new jabber client for a customer and i'm unsure of what QoS to configure on the switch ports for end users. Users will also have 7942 handsets, so if i configure auto qos voip cisco-phone, I doubt this will protect the voice/video for Jabber.
Has anyone got any config or tips they can share?
Cheers,
James

Hi,
I believe you can use "auto qos voip cisco-softphone"
Please see below QOS SRND.

• Cisco Jabber client installation issue

I am trying to install Jabber Client 9.6(1) with this installation command
msiexec.exe /i CiscoJabberSetup.msi /quiet CLEAR=1 AUTHENTICATOR=CUP CUP_ADDRESS=1.2.3.4
but it didn't set account type as cisco IM & Presence instead it stays in Automatic
Is there any correct property to set it to Cisco IM & Presence as account type. Thanks for your help.

That is the correct, documented structure of the command so I'm unsure why it didn't work. Have you considered doing DNS SRV records instead? It's both the recommended and far easier way to get this done.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_6/InstallConfig/JABW_BK_CDFE9752_00_installation-and-configuration/JABW_BK_CDFE9752_00_installation-and-configuration_chapter_0100.html#JABW_CN_S8703698_00
If DNS really isn't an option for you, you could also consider creating an MST file using ORCA and using that instead of manual CLI switches.
If CLI switches are really your only option and no one has a better idea, try an older release (e.g. 9.2.6) just to see if it ever works. Depending on the outcome, it may be time for a TAC case.

• Can ACS support multiple Active Directory Domains for 802.1x EAP-TLS?

Hi
I'm looking to implement ACS 5.2 using 802.1X, we have two seperate AD domains.
Now.. this is the tricky part...
A single switch will need to support both ADs, so if a machine in AD1 is connected, it will be authenticated to the ACS using AD1 and applied to VLAN1, while a machine that is in AD2 will be authenticated to AD2 and applied to VLAN 2.
I'm looking at machine authentication, not user authentication, so I assume that I will need to import two certs from each AD.
Can any expert please let me know if they think that this will be possible please??
Many thanks

Yes ACS can support multiple AD domains but you will have to configure one as your AD domain and the other as an LDAP database and this will work since you are planning to use eap-tls.
The question I have is which version of ACS are you using? If you are using ACS 5.x then you can setup and identity store sequence so if the user is not found you can move to the next store and this will prevent you from installing two certificates on every machine.
You can then setup an authorization rule for the seperate containers on where the workstations are located (this is assuming machine authentication is being used) for the AD database or the LDAP database and then assign the vlan based off that.
Thanks and I hope this helps!
