Cisco VPN client install fails with Error 1722 on Windows 7
Hi,
I am having issues with laptops upgraded from Vista to Windows 7.
Prior to the upgrade they are running Cisco VPN Client 5.0.05.0290. These laptops also have Juniper Network Connect 6.5 and Citrix web client installed. The windows upgrade advisor made no recommendations regarding uninstalling / reinstalling these apps.
I have done an inplace upgade to Windows 7 (Windows Vista Enterprise 32bit to Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit) and after the install the Cisco client is not working. Uninstalled the client (the uninstall was successful) then reinstalled and the installation fails at Installing Cisco Systems Virtual Adapter - error 1722 there was a problem with the windows installer package.
I have followed the steps for a manual uninstall of the Cisco client and then tried the install again - still not successful. Interestingly (or not) the Juniper Network Connect also fails with the error The Network Connect Virtual adapter driver is not installed properly. This also fails to reinstall after being removed.
I tried removing the VPN clients on another laptop and then running the upgrade but the same errors occured when reinstalling the VPN Client. I have tried the Winfix and DNE patch from Citrix but these fail saying there is a corruption in the application.
On another laptop where only the Cisco VPN client was installed a reinstall was required after the upgrade, but it did install successfully.
On a clean image these applications all install fine, however I have a large number of laptops do upgrade and don't want to do a fresh install and settings migration on all of them.
What files / registry entrys are involved with the DNE adapter so I can manually clear it all out before reinstalling?
Anything else I can do to troubleshoot this issue?
Cheers,
JamesYou should be able to install the 64 bit version of the Cisco VPN software
Latest version is vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.exe
You should download and run MCPR.exe first, to clean out any traces of McAfee products that conflict with Cisco VPN.
http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
If there is a problem with vbscript registration on the system - there is a fixit tool from Microsoft for that:
MicrosoftFixit50842.msi
(Using Shrew VPN is a possible workaround.) -
Cisco 3945- boot up fails with no error
Greetings,
Just throwing it out there to see if anyone throw some ideas my way. I recently sent a working/tested Cisco 3945 ISR router out to a office for redundancy. Before I did that, I removed WLAN controller and slot module, 1xVWIC2 T1 and 1xVIC2 FX0 modules. I did however leave the PVDM3 64ch and 1x VWIC t1 modules and flash card, which had a v15 IOS loaded and basic config. Upon delivery they said it doesn't work, "it hangs" and no damage externally or failed hardware (power supplies/fans). These things always make me wonder, cause hangs is so vague and do not really see Cisco routers do this unless they are taking larger than normal packets or someone turned on debugging without turning it off.
Here's my thinking and hope someone can chime in and throw some ideas at me before I get on a call with them on Monday. I attached a screen shot they sent of the boot up and looks to me that its trying to initialize the current config file which which may be trying to initialize the voice channels. Could this be as easy as killing the current config loaded, going into rommon and setting it back to default maybe? Or just removing the PVDM card maybe?
I hate to say something is just broke, I rarely see this and being I powered it up and tested the hardware, I don't want to involve tac until I can rule out the obvious. I did, however, test and powered down the router before removing the additional hardware. Would this current config on the router that may have lingering hardware (which I removed) in the config cause this to happen as well?
Side note: The flash cleared and below were the contents of the flash before sending out the router.

Another thing, your IOS is very old. VERY.

Cisco ip phone 9971 registration failed with CME 8.6 on WAN
Dear Sir
Subject: Cisco ip
phone 9971 registration failed
with CME 8.6 on WAN
I have a WAN simulation with one Cisco2811 router one Cisco1841 router (connected with fast Ethernet interface) plus one layer 2 switch.
I upgraded the 2811 IOS to 15.4M and installed CME8.6, when we tried to add 9971 sip phone If the traffic goes throw LAN (Same subnet- directly from switch to 2811) everything is fine and the SIP phone (9971) added with no problem but when I change the subnet and traffic goes throw WAN
( from 1841 routed to 2811 with default route) my phone didn't register.
It will be great if anybody could help!!
If you can solve my problem, I will be happy to compensate.Try binding SIP to an interface on which Phone can reach (Use "voice service voip" "sip" and then bind)

Hi,
we are upgrading our CUCM 8.6.1 to 10.5.1 on VMWare Enviroment (vSphere 5.5 running on UCS).
We are running this upgrade in a sandbox, in order to avoid any problem in the production cluster.
We followed the refresh upgrade guide ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/upgrade/10_0_1/CUCM_BK_U4214F9D_00_upgrade-guide-cucm-100.pdf)
Pre-configuration steps
Take a clone of the running publisher and put it in the sandbox
Remove DNS servers (they are not available in the sandbox)
Change the NTP Server with a ntp that is recheable from the sandbox
Check that Gateway and NTP connectivity are OK for the CUCM
Pre-upgrade:
Run the cop files to update keys and increase disk space (log partition is 80% full)
Shutdown the CUCM VM and
Increase disk space on the VM configuration
change VM OS from RedHat5 (32bit) to RedHat 6 (64bits)
change VM nic from flexible to VMNIX3
Restart the VM
Upgrade
1. mount the iso
2. connect to OS Administration web interface and perform the Software installation from CD/DVD
3. upgrade process works fine up to the post-installation task
During post-installation tasks (after completing the DB Load and Transforming Copy) the Upgrade process always fails fails with an internal error
IPM|Internal Error, File:ipm.c:2011, Function: ipmReadNormalizedInputLine(), "/usr/local/cm/script/cm-dbl-install RU PostInstall 10.5.1.10000-7 8.6.1.21019-1 /usr/local/cm/ /common/component/database /common/log/install/capture.txt " failed (1)|<LVL::Critical>
IPM| end-of-session "Installing database component": 1109.369 secs.|<LVL::Info>
IPM|Close progress meter "Component Install"|<LVL::Info>
We also tried the intermediate steps:
- upgrade from 8.6.1 to 9.1 : worked
- from 9.1 to 10.5: Failed with the same error
- from 9.1 to 10.1: Failed with the same error
any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks
StefanoIssue was related to Dial Plans, the logs showed

Integration problem between Cisco Seure ACS 4.2 with LDAP
Hi expert,
I have a problem with the integration between Cisco Secure ACS 4.2 with SUN Java System Directory (LDAP). During the integration, I noticed that user failed to authenticate against LDAP via Cisco Secure ACS. The error message is "Authentication Type is not supported by external DB". In this case the "external DB" refer to LDAP. Anyone of you having an experience on integration on both product before? Can any of you give me some pointers about this. Attached are both screen capture on my ACS server.
Thanks very much,
DanielHi,
Thanks for the compatibility chart. Oh dear ..., it seems that the LDAP does not supports PEAP (EAP-MS CHAPv2) at all. Am not sure if the latest LDAP (particularly for SUN Java System Directory) able to support this authentication protocol.
Just to clarify with you all just in case if you wonder what I'm trying to do; our company wants to implement 802.1x over the network. So, every staff on the network must authenticated before able to access the network resources. Our Linksys switches supports this standard including Cisco switches of course. Our RADIUS server is Cisco Secure ACS 4.2 but all those users information including username and passwords are stored in our directory server (LDAP) which is SUN Java System Directory.
Since most of our staff machines are running on XP and Vista, the only available authentication method (beside certificate based) is PEAP (EAP-MSCHAPv2). Based on the compatibility chart, the generic LDAP does not supports this authentication protocol as what we noted the "authentication type not supported by external database" error message in the ACS logs.
From what I learned that the latest LDAP (version 3.0?) able to support this authentication protocol, but yet to be confirmed on my further research.
So... Anyone can advice me on this matter? Thanks very much ! -

there is no subscriber at branch side, so the outbound call should travel to call manager at head office and then get exit from branch gateway to ITSP through sip line. -
Cisco VPN on Mac existing with Apani
Hello:
I recently installed Apani VPN ( a Mac client for Nortel Contivity connections that connects through a browser) on the same machine with my Cisco VPN. Now for my customers with Cisco VPN connections I fail to connect with this error:
51 11:12:50.183 09/16/2011 Sev=Critical/1 CVPND/0xC3400003
Function SocketApiBind() failed with an error code of 0xFFFFFFFF(ike-init-state.cpp:402)
52 11:12:50.183 09/16/2011 Sev=Critical/1 CVPND/0x43400012
Unable to bind to IKE port. This could be because there is another VPN client installed or running. Please disable or uninstall all VPN Clients other than the Cisco VPN Client.
Only problem is I cannot find this process in my Activity Monitor--I'm not sure what the process is. The is no application that I can see in my "Applications Folder". I haven't been able to get help from Apani. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Cisco but no joy.
Any idea how I can get cisco taking over again? If I have to choose between the two it is more important to get CIsco working. I am running a Macbook with OS 10.6.8.
Thanks.Apple's support section (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306256) says "How to enable Cisco VPN connections
You should use Cisco's VPN client software to establish a Cisco VPN connection via an AirPort Extreme base station. Note: In the Cisco VPN client preferences, make sure the "NAT-T" option is enabled.
Note: Some corporate firewall configurations may cause issues with the Cisco VPN software.
Please contact AppleCare support if you are unable to contact a Cisco VPN server via Cisco VPN client software and an AirPort Extreme base station.
I'm experiencing the same thing. DellLatitude D610. Netgear rangemax wireless PC card (WPN511). I can connect to the internet but I try to vpn into work I get half way through the connection process and get an error which states" Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding. I've spent 2 hours trying different settings. I really want to stick w/the apple product but will have to return it if I can't get it to work. I need cisco vpn via wintel for work. -
Hi,
Have anyone configured ECLB in a pair of Nexus 7018 to "load balance" the traffic for several IPS Sensors.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/products_configuration_example09186a0080671a8d.shtml
I am not really sure if it works with Nexus. It works with Switch 6500 for sure,
Regards,I think you can post this question on routing switching section as well , experts there have better suggestion related to port channel and hsrp.

Cisco Valet - Starts to fail.
I bought the more expensive Cisco Valet about a year ago. Within a few months it started to fail in supporting my home wireless network.
Now that it has been a year and has taken a total POOP, Cisco will not "help" us because we are out of warranty.Let me know the model number of the Valet Router? Let me know was the problem with the wireless connection? How did you install the Valet Router? How did you install the Router means – with the help of the Cisco Connect Software that came with Router or configured it manually… If you are facing the concern with the wireless then you should do the following settings…
If you configured the Router with the help of the Cisco Connect Software then open that up in which you have installed… There you will be able to see 4 small window screens…
You have to click on “Router setting” window…
Then click on “Advanced settings” button… That opens the Router Setup page then Go to Wireless Tab and make the following wireless channel-
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
Then check the connectivity…
If you have configured the Router manually then open up the browser and on the address bar type “IP address of the Default Gateway” that will open up the Router setup page… From here you can do the same steps as above… -

1 lync 2010 std edition server with CMS file store/store and store scp dbs hosted locally on itself.(no sql is involved).
2 lync 2013 servers std edition.
the only database that resides on a sql server is the archiving database(which i already setup a new sql archiving database for 2013).
all other lync dbs reside locally on their front end server installs.
2010
lnCp01.local.net\rtc
2013
lynp01.local.net\rtc
lynp02.local.net\rtc
i have already moved all users to the lyncp02.local.net front end server and into the 2013 pool. but cant move the CMS.
any help would be appreciated.Hi,
Please check to ensure the SQL Server (RTC) service is running on the new front end.
Also check SQL configuration manager and ensure that TCP/IP is enabled for client protocols under client configuration (although this should be enabled).
You may also re-run the database installation procedure for the CMS outlined here;
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688013.aspx (assuming that you've already performed it once).
You may need to include the -clean switch if you have already done this, then attempt to move it again.
Attempt the move command from an elevated management shell (administrative credentials)
Kind regards
Ben
