Cisco Prime 2.1 Backup Device Configuration

Hi
Does anybody knows how I can change the credential of a group of devices to archive all the running configuration?
And other question is where this configuration is stored?
Thanks for your help
regards

The Bulk update option has been started with PI 2.0.
You can either streamline or change the information on the devices, or if you have another set of credentials for a different subnet, you could add that to the CLI section of the discovery profile and rerun the discovery. If you have a handful of changes, you can click the devices with a status of Managed with Warning and then click the Edit button to modify the credentials.
With Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0, there is now an ability to export devices with credentials directly from the GUI. Navigate to Operate > Device Work Center and you should be able to see the “Export Device” button as shown in following figure:
At that point in time, you can export the device credentials, change them using a spreadsheet application, and import them back.
TIP: If you need to change the credentials for devices in bulk, this method can be used to do that.
Importing Devices Manually
If you maintain a spreadsheet that has all the devices and would rather get started with that, you do have this option in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0. If you to go Operate > Device Work Center > Bulk Import, you get an import pop-up as shown in the figure below:
The configuration is stored in the oracle DB in various table and indexes. Unfortunately, it doesnt allows to see that configuration from the server directory. But you can manage and view from CPI GUI.

  • Cisco Prime does not update devices in "Device Work Center"

    Hi everyone.
I have a problem that is bugging me a lot.
I'm working in Cisco Prime 2.0 and we have a big problem.
If I run a discovery and find all a lot of switches, the switches is discovered and are fully managed via SSH and SNMP.
We are using both 2960S, 2960x and a lot of old 2950:s.
We are replacing all 2950:s to some new 2960 model.
The big problem is that when we replace the old 2950:s we reuse the same IP-address (so our customly built programs can find them again), Cisco Prime DOES NOT update the model of the switches. The switches are still in the Device Work Center and are still in recognized as a 2950.
If I mark the switch to view more info in Device Work Center the Unique Device Identifier says that it is a new 2960s/x but the model is still recognized as a 2950 so Prime can obviously find a manage the switch and update "some" info, but not the device itself.
Does someone have the same problem or do I need to delete all 2950:s and do a new discovery so Prime understand?
    EDIT
    I have now an example.
    Please look at the image.

    Hi,
I ran into same issue,Yes this is known issue, there is a open defect id and is fixed in upcoming releases.
I deleted existing devices and rediscovered, but note you will loose all your configurations related to existing deive model.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3, Mail Configuration

    Hi,
I have a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 and I want to set up the mail. When I test it,  I get this error:
Failed  to send mail to primary SMTP server. Failed to send mail to secondary  SMTP server. Please make sure that you save mail configuration by  hitting 'Save' button.
I have the ip  address, and the username and password. Do I need to create a new buzon  for the prime? because by default the "From" field appears with
    [email protected]
    Thanks!!

Some extra info that has just come to my attention.  At one point we were running (we're actually still running) CiscoWorks with LMS3.2 and Cisco NCS 1.x.  I merged these two things together into Cisco Prime Infrastructure (upgraded the licensing to get 450 lifecycle licenses to cover the APs + all of the devices coming from LMS3.2).  I followed all of the documented procedures to upgrade the NCS appliance to Prime Infrastructure.  But when I type "show application" from the CLI of the NCS appliance (now the Prime Infrastructure appliance) I see this:
    HQ-NCS1/admin# show application
NCS             Cisco Prime Network Control System
Is that normal?  Maybe this is my problem.  Should this output list "Cisco Prime Infrastructure" instead of (or in addtion to) Cisco Prime Network Control System?  When I login to the GUI it shows "Cisco Prime Infrastructure" and the GUI has changed considerably (menus are different) so I'm assuming that the application upgrades I launched from the CLI to go to Prime Infrastructure worked fine.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure - not updating device details

We run Cisco prime Infrastructure and I have found an interesting problem that I can't see an easy way round.
If I have say a Cisco 2950 switch on my network, managed by Prime and I upgrade it to a 3560 - I then ask Prime to re-sync the device details.
This works - you can see the updated configuration files etc but the device ID stays the same - Prime still thinks it is a 3560, which it was when the device was originally added.
Is there a way, short of deleting the device and adding it again (losing the config archive) of getting prime to update it's details to reflect the hardware change?
It came to light as it screwed up a network hardware audit I was doing - this is all showing up on Prime as the old 2050's which I have replaced with 3560's.
There must be an easier way that just deleting the device and re-adding it?

This is by no means a full solution, but deleting and re-adding only takes a few minutes if you use the "Export Device" and "Bulk Import" features from the Device Work Center. You can export the desired devices to a CSV file, delete them, then import from the CSV.
Of course, you might lose historical data when deleting the devices, but I'm guessing that's not as relevant since the devices themselves have been replaced by different hardware.

I have defined the type as Tape.
    backup device type
    [tape | tape_auto | tape_box | pipe | pipe_auto | pipe_box | disk
    | disk_copy | disk_standby | stage | stage_copy | stage_standby
    | util_file | util_file_online | rman_util | rman_disk | rman_stage
    | rman_prep]
    default: tape
    backup_dev_type = tape
I have to define the Path how can i tell the system to backup to Extrenal tape drive.
    backup root directory [<path_name> | (<path_name_list>)]
    default: $SAPDATA_HOME/sapbackup

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Device Configurations

We use PI 2.0 physical appliance.
Is it possible to save a shadow copy of the configs so that you get config in filesystem?
We want to save the configs to an external server.
Actually we are using this feature in LMS.

    Hi,
unfotunately this feature is not avaiable so far an Enhancement request is already filed to track this issue:
CSCug82578    Prime Infrastructure should maintain archive shadow directory like LMS

  • Cisco Prime Infrastrastructure 2.1 HA Configuration

    Hello All,
Having commissioned and tested failover between a pair of appliances I was rather surprised to discover that they do not share a VIP address.  From an operational support perspective this implies that I need to configure each host to accept snmp queries from two servers and double the number of snmp trap receivers to cater for instances where the Primary appliance is out of service.  This implies that the network is having to cope with twice the volume of snmp udp 162 traps and alerts.  I dare not even think about syslogging!
Hopefully, I've missed something, but how do fellow community members handle this eventuality?
    Thanks in anticipation
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
I understand your concern , I have heard similar kind of query before. but this how it has to be implemented.
we need to have traps send to both the servers though one server is Online at one time :(
otherwise , we have to take the pain of doing this if in case fail over happened.
    Thanks-
    Afroz

  • Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 Device Availability Poller & Portlet

The default, non-editable "System" Device Availability poller appears to be the only one used by the Availability Pie Chart Portlet. Or is there a way to a show a chart based on a user defined poller, which excludes devices known to be currently offline?

    Hi ,
It's true  that you will not be able to Delete the system Defined pollers ,however you can DEACTIVATE them.
selecet system defined device availblity poller and De-activate it..
Now created a NEW poller , add the devices which you are interested in. and you should able to see the data in the PIE chart for the user defined poller.
    Thanks-

  • Cisco Prime 2.1 CLI-Template for Switch configuration Backup

    Hello everybody,
I am trying to write a CLI Template in cisco Prime to save the running-configuration of our core switch to the FTP server,
I have already configured the FTP username and Password in the core Switch
    ip ftp username cisco
    ip ftp password cisco123
in Cisco Prime I have created a template as follow:
    copy running-config ftp:
    $FTP_IP_addrress >> the FTP Server
$name                    >> the name of file and the date
After deploying this template on the core switch,
I received Error Msg in Prime as follow:
    Error : Command returned an error : copy running-config ftp: 172.16.30.30 Run_Config_Core_19_2_2015 ^ % Invalid input detected at '^' marker. QAF-DC-4507-CORE(config)#
I know that the backup files can be fetched directly from Cisco Prime in the Configuration Archives, But also I need to test if we can take a backup directly to the FTP server using Prime.
     Thanks in advance.

    Thank you Bkennedy for replying,
I changed my template to be as follow:
    #MODE_ENABLE
    copy running-config ftp:
    $Mgmt_IP_addrress
    $name
    #MODE_END_ENABLE
but still I am receiving Error like :
Error : Exception while sending interactive commands to device, Expect timeout: Failed to match expected device output due to Expect timeout current timeout 60000. Current output : Address or name of remote host []? Current expects : (DC-450.{0,30}|DC-4507-AGG)\([^\)]+\)#\s*\z DC-4507-AGG#
I believe that we have to tell the Prime how to send the variables to Switch, because the switch is waiting for the remote host IP address and the destination file name???
    DC-4507-AGG#copy running-config ftp:
Address or name of remote host []? X.Y.Z.W
    Destination filename [dc-4507-agg-confg]?
    % VRF table-id 0 not active
    % VRF table-id 0 not active
    Writing dc-4507-agg-confg !
    24425 bytes copied in 1.500 secs (16283 bytes/sec)
    DC-4507-AGG#

  • Cisco Prime -report

I have installed Cisco prime infrastructure 2.2 and configured it.
Now i want Per switch Per vlan traffic and per switch per vlan session
for that what i have to do please suggest me as soon as possible
    Switches is 2960 and 3750X.
Please suggest me and i want that report also..

Your layer 2 switches won't give you much of anything as far as traffic per VLAN as they do not have any interface to report against. The router (or layer 3 switch) which is the gateway for your VLANs can be queried to show the traffic for the Layer 3 Switch Virtual Interface (SVI). That shows up like any other interface in the performance reports.
I'm not sure what you mean by "per vlan session". Can you explain (preferably with an example of how you would do that from command line)?
