I have a little problem. When i tried configure this in Prime 2.2 i can´t find the option/menu to do it!.
In the previuos version (LMS 4.2) i have the option in the menu "Admin > Network > Notification and Action Settings > Syslog Automated Actions"
Anyone can configure this?
Thanks!!!

Hi Jose,
As of now in PI the syslog and syslog feature support is less\minimal.
unfortunately the one you are looking is also Not available.
hoping to see this in coming future.

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3, Mail Configuration
Hi,
I have a Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 and I want to set up the mail. When I test it, I get this error:
Failed to send mail to primary SMTP server. Failed to send mail to secondary SMTP server. Please make sure that you save mail configuration by hitting 'Save' button.
I have the ip address, and the username and password. Do I need to create a new buzon for the prime? because by default the "From" field appears with
[email protected]
Thanks!!Some extra info that has just come to my attention. At one point we were running (we're actually still running) CiscoWorks with LMS3.2 and Cisco NCS 1.x. I merged these two things together into Cisco Prime Infrastructure (upgraded the licensing to get 450 lifecycle licenses to cover the APs + all of the devices coming from LMS3.2). I followed all of the documented procedures to upgrade the NCS appliance to Prime Infrastructure. But when I type "show application" from the CLI of the NCS appliance (now the Prime Infrastructure appliance) I see this:
HQ-NCS1/admin# show application
NCS Cisco Prime Network Control System
Is that normal? Maybe this is my problem. Should this output list "Cisco Prime Infrastructure" instead of (or in addtion to) Cisco Prime Network Control System? When I login to the GUI it shows "Cisco Prime Infrastructure" and the GUI has changed considerably (menus are different) so I'm assuming that the application upgrades I launched from the CLI to go to Prime Infrastructure worked fine. -

Cisco Prime 2.1 Backup Device Configuration
Hi
Does anybody knows how I can change the credential of a group of devices to archive all the running configuration?
And other question is where this configuration is stored?
Thanks for your help
regardsThe Bulk update option has been started with PI 2.0.
You can either streamline or change the information on the devices, or if you have another set of credentials for a different subnet, you could add that to the CLI section of the discovery profile and rerun the discovery. If you have a handful of changes, you can click the devices with a status of Managed with Warning and then click the Edit button to modify the credentials.
With Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0, there is now an ability to export devices with credentials directly from the GUI. Navigate to Operate > Device Work Center and you should be able to see the “Export Device” button as shown in following figure:
At that point in time, you can export the device credentials, change them using a spreadsheet application, and import them back.
TIP: If you need to change the credentials for devices in bulk, this method can be used to do that.
Importing Devices Manually
If you maintain a spreadsheet that has all the devices and would rather get started with that, you do have this option in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0. If you to go Operate > Device Work Center > Bulk Import, you get an import pop-up as shown in the figure below:
The configuration is stored in the oracle DB in various table and indexes. Unfortunately, it doesnt allows to see that configuration from the server directory. But you can manage and view from CPI GUI.

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Syslog
Dear all,
I found some strange on Cisco PI 1.3:
Many syslog messages (about interface change status) were sent to PI, however not all message displayed in Event List.
E.g: All Syslog Messages from C6504 are not displayed.
From Switch 3750, some are displayed, some not.
Even I used Tcpdump on PI and saw that all syslog packets are received on PI's Interface.
Could anyone help me???

Cisco Prime Infrastrastructure 2.1 HA Configuration
Hello All,
Having commissioned and tested failover between a pair of appliances I was rather surprised to discover that they do not share a VIP address. From an operational support perspective this implies that I need to configure each host to accept snmp queries from two servers and double the number of snmp trap receivers to cater for instances where the Primary appliance is out of service. This implies that the network is having to cope with twice the volume of snmp udp 162 traps and alerts. I dare not even think about syslogging!
Hopefully, I've missed something, but how do fellow community members handle this eventuality?
Thanks in anticipation
MichaelHi Michael,
I understand your concern , I have heard similar kind of query before. but this how it has to be implemented.
we need to have traps send to both the servers though one server is Online at one time :(
otherwise , we have to take the pain of doing this if in case fail over happened.
Thanks-
Afroz

Where are syslogs stored, if I point my devices to Cisco Prime acting as my syslog server? I am running 2.0
thanks, JerryHi ,
As of now , this feature is not available , I mean PI will not work as syslog server.
Syslog messages received by PI from managed devices are found under Monitor > Alarms and Events > Syslogs
as you are using PI 2.2 , you will be able to see all device syslog messages (0-7 severity)
That display will show you up to 200,000 messages at a time.

Cisco Prime 2.1 CLI-Template for Switch configuration Backup
Hello everybody,
I am trying to write a CLI Template in cisco Prime to save the running-configuration of our core switch to the FTP server,
I have already configured the FTP username and Password in the core Switch
ip ftp username cisco
ip ftp password cisco123
in Cisco Prime I have created a template as follow:
copy running-config ftp:
$FTP_IP_addrress >> the FTP Server
$name >> the name of file and the date
After deploying this template on the core switch,
I received Error Msg in Prime as follow:
Error : Command returned an error : copy running-config ftp: 172.16.30.30 Run_Config_Core_19_2_2015 ^ % Invalid input detected at '^' marker. QAF-DC-4507-CORE(config)#
I know that the backup files can be fetched directly from Cisco Prime in the Configuration Archives, But also I need to test if we can take a backup directly to the FTP server using Prime.
Thanks in advance.Thank you Bkennedy for replying,
I changed my template to be as follow:
#MODE_ENABLE
copy running-config ftp:
$Mgmt_IP_addrress
$name
#MODE_END_ENABLE
but still I am receiving Error like :
Error : Exception while sending interactive commands to device, Expect timeout: Failed to match expected device output due to Expect timeout current timeout 60000. Current output : Address or name of remote host []? Current expects : (DC-450.{0,30}|DC-4507-AGG)\([^\)]+\)#\s*\z DC-4507-AGG#
I believe that we have to tell the Prime how to send the variables to Switch, because the switch is waiting for the remote host IP address and the destination file name???
DC-4507-AGG#copy running-config ftp:
Address or name of remote host []? X.Y.Z.W
Destination filename [dc-4507-agg-confg]?
% VRF table-id 0 not active
% VRF table-id 0 not active
Writing dc-4507-agg-confg !

I have installed Cisco prime infrastructure 2.2 and configured it.
Now i want Per switch Per vlan traffic and per switch per vlan session
for that what i have to do please suggest me as soon as possible
Switches is 2960 and 3750X.
Please suggest me and i want that report also..Your layer 2 switches won't give you much of anything as far as traffic per VLAN as they do not have any interface to report against. The router (or layer 3 switch) which is the gateway for your VLANs can be queried to show the traffic for the Layer 3 Switch Virtual Interface (SVI). That shows up like any other interface in the performance reports.
I'm not sure what you mean by "per vlan session". Can you explain (preferably with an example of how you would do that from command line)? -
Configure the syslog of ASA 5512-X for display on Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1
Hi, I'm working on implementing the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1 and want to display the syslog about ASA5512-X with Software Version 9.2.
What would be the procedure for configuring?
Thanks in advance.Hi,
Enable "logging host x.x.x.x " command to enable logging
check the below link:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa91/configuration/general/asa_91_general_config/monitor_syslog.html#68764
FYI: Prime Infrastructure support only SEV 0,1,2 syslogs as of now.
Operate > alarm and events > syslogs

Hi friends,
I have a question about my syslog from Cisco Prime LMS 4.1, the hours from this syslog in the LMS is diferent from my switch log. I dont kown why.. I verified the hours betewen switch y the Cisco Prime is the same(the LMS is over Windows Server 2008R2) . both are the same log but in diferent hours about 5 hours.
maybe I have to configure the hours for Syslog in the Cisco Prime.
Log from Switch
Log from Cisco Prime LMSIf you have LMS, i am not sure, but if you have PI 1.2. Take a look at my post.
Basically, syslog feature doesn't work well. I could see couple of syslog through event / alarm, but syslog itself is not working properly.

Comparing NX-OS Configurations in Cisco Prime 2.1 or LMS 4.2.5
Hello All,
Maybe this is just an NX-OS thing but does anyone have issues comparing different versions of a configuration for the same device? As an example we have Nexus 5548 running version 5.1(3)N2(1). When someone configures an interface on the switch Prime and LMS receive syslog notifications and back up the configuration. When you attempt to do a configuration comparison within Cisco Prime 2.1 it appears like the entire configuration has changed (see below - if you were to scroll over the entire config is red).
When I do the same comparison within LMS 4.2.5 it gives the same result. Is this just the way it is?
BrianSo I checked another Nexus 5548 that's running 5.0(3)N1(1c) and it is working as expected. It seems with that device that Cisco Prime 2.1 is able to parse the configuration out and you can compare differing versions of the same device:
Looking back at the original device that Cisco Prime is having issues with it appears that everything is lumped under the global config: -
Cisco prime syslog functionality
Hello All,
I have added devices in cisco prime. I can see logging option in cisco prime under Administration > Logging . I have given one server IP (10.18.89.43) where I wanted logs to get saved but I am not sure whether prime is acting as a syslog server and if its really collecting those syslog. Also how do I know where its saving those logs on server. (See attached image)
Please help me with exact configuration. Thanks Marvin for valuable reply. I can see Prime generated syslog message for one of added switch under Inventory > Device Management > Network Audit.
But it was just one message as follows:
Syslog Message<189>92196: Apr 21 17:33:55: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by 5588648 on vty0 (10.18.83.170)
How do I configure Prime so i can increase buffer for these messages. -
Cisco Prime Soft Appliance not saving changes to syslog.conf
Greetings,
I'm having an issue with the syslog.conf file on a Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.4 soft appliance with a Solaris base. My workplace uses local4 as the logging facility for its network devices, and according to a discussion I found on this site, I need to add the line:
local4.info /var/log/syslog_info
I have attempted this several times; we're approaching at least 5 attempts today. I have attached text files created from putty logs where I've attempted to make the necessary change. I appreciate any assistance the community can provide.
Regards,
RobHi, Afroz,
I really appreciate your assistance, but I'm afraid my hopes have been dashed. The syslog.conf reverted to its original configuration. I will go through my steps to be sure that I understood your suggestion properly.
I edited the syslog.conf to put all messages from local4 in /opt/CSCOpx/conf/syslog-entries.txt. Then, I exited the shell to the console, issued the 'write mem' command, and closed the session. Upon my reconnection, I found that my changes to the syslog.conf were not saved.
Did I make the correct edits in the correct places? Another question, is this bug present in the versions of Prime LMS running Linux and/or Windows, or does it only exist in the soft appliance running Solaris?
Regards,
Rob
Edit:
I'm reading the "Installation and Migration of Cisco Prime" PDF, and it gives me the impression that Cisco Prime is only supported as Windows, Solaris, and soft appliance installations. Is that correct? If it is correct, then installation of Cisco Prime LMS is not supported on other Linux distros such as Ubuntu Server, CentOS, Fedora, etc.?
My thanks.
