Cisco Prime LMS appliance Compatibilty with Cisco Prime NCS

Hi,
Is it possible if we can install Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 in the appliance which is inbuilt with Cisco Prime  NCS .
We have PILMS42-1.5K-U license available with us.
Rgds,
Kamal

One can install either LMS 4.2 or NCS on the a physical (software on PRIME-NCS-APL-K9 hardware) or virtual appliance (software installed on customer-provided VM).
The two products (NCS and LMS) cannot coexist on a given appliance instance. This is due to change in the future as LMS and NCS merge under the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 release but for now they are distinct and separate products with a common approach and similar look and feel but requiring separate servers, whether physical or virtual.
Please refer to the ordering and licensing guide here.

  • Monitoring Dashboard - Syslog Alerts portlet (Prime LMS appliance)

We are using the Prime LMS appliance and have upgraded to 4.2.3.
Nothing is showing in the Syslog Alerts portlet on the Monitoring Dashboard.
If I click on the portlet title I go to the 24 Hour Syslog Report page.
This page has the standard settings and is set to run the report every 24 hours.
If I run it immediately, I get a nice long report of syslogs.
Nothing show in the portlet though.
I do not think DNS is populated with the device names & ip addresses (unsure how important this is).
Currently using the sysname (from SNMP) for device naming.
    Any help much appreciated.

  • Upgrade Cisco Prime LMS 4.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1

My company has asked me to migrate Prime LMS 4.0 to Prime Infrastructure 2.0 for a client and can not find the guide, the questions are? the migration is possible without an intermediate step? and There is a guide to update LMS 4.0 to PI 2.0 ??
    Thanks in advance.

Prime LMS 4.2.2 added support for the PI template directly:
    Export Data for Prime Infrastructure
Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution supports data migration to Prime Infrastructure 1.2. This feature enables user to export the Device Credentials Repository (DCR) data from LMS 4.2.x versions to Prime Infrastructure 1.2. The data backup status and backup location are displayed at the bottom of the Export Data for Prime Infrastructure page. The data being exported from LMS and the data imported back to PI are listed as follows.
    Data exported from LMS
    •Device Credentials Repository (DCR)
    •Software Image Management
    •Config Archive
    •Change Audit

  • Prime LMS EOL? Migration to Prime Infrastructure???

    Hi All,
I'm a little bit confused about the support for Prime LMS 4.2.5... is there any date for end of Life/end of support for LMS?
Should customers migrate to Prime Infrastructure or what does cisco recommend???
    best regards

Prime LMS 4.2 is not yet End of Sales or End of Life. Cisco continues to provide support develop minor device package updates etc. for it.
It will not get another major release going forward as strategically the platform being developed for wired and wireless LAN management is Prime Infrastructure (PI).
For existing LMS customers, they are encouraged to review the current feature comparison (link) and determine which product better serves their needs given that PI 2.2 does not have feature parity with Prime LMS 4.2.5. (Even new PI customers are given a license for Prime LMS in acknowledgement of this fact. How long that continues remains to be seen.)

  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Compatibility with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 8.X

I have a customer that would like to upgrade CUCM to either 7.1 or 8.0 and has Meeting Place Express.
In trying to establish compatability I found this link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr.html#wp56211 which shows compatabilty up to CUCM 7.0.
If CUCM 7.0 is in fact the highest version supported with MPE 2.1(1.2), that would mean that they would loose their conferencing server.
Can anyone confirm if there will be MPE support for CUCM 7.1 or 8?
    Thank you.

7.1 is still supported, however 8.X was never tested with MPE as it was already going to be replaced with MP.
Since the BU never tested it, it falls under not supported, MP8 is supported with CUCM 8.
But, since it uses a standard H323 trunk it should work fine.

  • Changing server for Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 installation

    Hi,
I am planning to install Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 with 50 device license on a temporary server. My question is:
Can we install Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 on Server A, applied the license for 50 devices, and then several months later we uninstall LMS on Server A, reinstall it on Server B, and applied the same license for 50 users?
Is it possible and legal to do that? I am worry if the LMS license is binding to the first server's MAC address.
    Thanks in advance.

also :vmversion 4.1 and 5.1 both checked, hdd 256, scsi , memory 8 gig,

  • Cisco Prime LMS High Availability

    Hi,
I am trying to setup prime LMS 4.2 with a pair of soft appliance. As I understand that HA is possible with the use of veritas/vmware for windows/solaris; I was wondering what are the possible high availability options available with a pair of prime LMS appliances? Can it form active/secondary with data synchronization/data redundancy of the LMS on top of the traditional backup/restore of the lms?
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thanks

As iceman said, in VMWare it is not needed to have a pair of host machines to configure HA. Pairs are managed using third party HA services like veritas.
In VMWare's HA concept all Host machines are pooled into one cluster and in case of host failure the entire cluster is moved to another host. vMotion can also help to move the entire vm to another host.
This is when the host fails where vm resides. In case of failure of vm itself, the HA can be set for various actions lilke Automatic restart when hardware or OS failure is detected. OR it can restart another backup host in other cluster when failure is detected.
You need to check availble HA option on VMWare and you can consider HA options via third party applications like veritas as well.
    -Thanks

  • Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 - Do access points use up a node count license?

    Hi Everyone,
I wish to purchase Cisco Prime LMS 4.1, particularly Cisco part # R-LMS-4.1-500-K9 which support 500 Cisco nodes.
We have about 360 Cisco switches/routers/ASA/FWs/WLCs so the 500 nodes license would seem to suffice for now & for future growth.
We also have about 200 lightweight APs that are managed & monitored by our WLC/WCS/Navigator environment.
According to the device support documentation for LMS, it supports and I assume will auto-discover these APs.
Does that mean these APs will use up node licenses on LMS even though management of the APs is done by WLC/WCS?  If so is there an easy way to suppress discovery of APs by LMS so we don’t have to purchase extra node licenses for LMS?  Or, does LMS offer additional support features for wireless APs not already offered by WLC/WCS/Navigator?
Just trying to understand how many network node licenses for LMS I have to purchase.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Ian.

Thanks but I just heard back from my Cisco SE and he assures me that an AP will NOT use up a license.
I've asked him to verify his answer for me.
Is your answer based on real world expereince (the best there is)?  That is, are you running Prime LMS 4.1 and does it indeed use up a license for each light-weight AP it discovers & manages?
Thanks for mentioning options 1-3 but I do not wish to employ any of them.  I don't mind buying the additional licenses for APs ... I just need to know if I have to or not.
    Ian.

  • Migrate from Prime LMS to Prime Infrastructure

I'm currently running CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 on Windows 2003 under VMware and just got upgrade licensing for Prime Infrastructure 1.2.  I am assuming that I will need to upgrade the current server to Prime LMS 4.2 in order to ensure that data migration to Prime Infrastructure goes well.  I am planning to follow Cisco's recommendation to run Prime LMS and Prime Infrastructure in parallel for a time and migrate individual functions.
My real question is about Syslog handling.  All of the managed devices are currently sending Syslog data to LMS.  As a last step in the migration, is it possible to change the IP address of the Prime Infrastructure server to replace the Prime LMS server so that the Prime Infrastructure server will just start getting all the Syslog data, or do I need to go change hundreds of managed devices to point to a new address?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Putting LMS up against Prime Infrastructure is like comparing Apples to Oranges.
LMS is a very mature product and Prime Infrastructure is in it infancy stages...
My suggestion would be to leave the current LMS system up and running; bring a Prime Infrastructure server up with a Demo License; add a few of each type of device to your Prime Infrastructure server; setup a proof of concept scenario to prove you can do everything in Prime as you can do in LMS.

Hi, I purchased 4 WIC-1AM cards for my cisco 1760 gateway to use with cisco call manager server. I'm trying to figure out if I can even use these cards for voice cards to make calls inbound and outbound. I'm seing that the cards that CM gives me are all VIC cards listed and i don't see any WIC cards listed in the endpoint list on the CM for the gatway. So can I even use these cards for what I'm trying to do??? Please help???

  • Cisco Call Manager 5.1 and Cisco VoIP Gateways

    Hi,
I have Cisco Call Manager 5.1 with Cisco 2800 series routers as a ISDN gateways and Cisco VG224/ATA 186 as POTS gateways. While Cisco Call Manager collects call statistics from 7900 series SCCP handsets managed by the Call Manager (number of VoIP packets, dropped frames etc.), it shows only one side of the call as it does not collect statistics from the Cisco routers (configured as H.323 gateways), the Cisco VG224 (with ports configured as H.323 gateways and as a SCCP devices) and Cisco ATA 186 (configured for SCCP).
Is the collection of these statistics possible? What needs to be done?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Update: Logging of QoS/Call Management Records (CMR) to Call Manager CDR database is not possible with H.323 gateways; only MGCP gateways:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_qanda_item09186a008020650a.shtml#qa4
Anyone know how to get the Cisco router gateway to log these statistics anyway using standard router logging mechanisms (e.g. syslog)?
Anyone know about calls to SCCP ports on Cisco VG224 or ATA 186?
    Thanks,
    Paul
