Dear Experts
There are two server nodes with physical hostname as
dbpocvm and cipocvm and virtual hostame as dbRP8 and ciRP8 respectively.
We have successfully installed the SCS00 on ciRP8 and DB on dbRP8.
Now we are running CI installation on ciRP8 where 26 out of 29 steps
are completed and stuck on 27th step(Prepare to install minimal
configuration).

Hi Sunny,
You are correct, but we have a different strategy.
We will have CI as SPOF and no CI with DI as non SPOF on two nodes.
CI will be a part of cluster in compensation to the CI and DI as non-clustered on seperate nodes.
I am yet stuck on 27 th phase of CI installation.
I do not think that can be a cause of the error as we have gone through the phase of installing /confguring Java Engine and installing S/WUnits prior to this 27 th phasei.e  "Prepeare to install minimal configuration"  .
Anyways CI can always be a part of cluster as and HA option too.
Thanks for your reply.
Any futher suggestions is appreciated.
Thanks

    Hello Sonia,
Can you ask your network team to monitor the traffic between primary and virtual host when you try to start java i.e STARTING_APP as it tries for 20mins and stopped.
I had the similar issue but with App server. Its almost the similar condition. Our network team managed to open some ports and removed the firewall.
    After that issue got resolved..
    Hope it helps

  • CJS-30151 Java process ERROR

    Hi Everyone,
I was trying to install NW 2004's(ABAP+JAVA,BI,EP,EP Core),getting following error, eventhough VM settings changed  to 1024(total 4GB).
    Error is :
CJS-30150  Java processes of instance ECC/DVEBMGS04 [ABAP: ACTIVE, Java: UNKNOWN] did not reach state PARTRUNNING after 20:00 minutes. Giving up.

    Please do needful.
    Thanks,
    Naren

    My Solution:
    OS: Win2003 Std Edition
    DB: Oracle 10g
    SAP: SolMgr 4 SR3
    1. Set VM to 4096.
    2. In Services, make sure Oracle listener starts automatically
    3. Stop the installation and SAP instances.
    4. Restart the server
    5. Check that oracle listener is running
    6. Start SAP from the SAPmmc Console and wait till all processes are green. Java process will take a while to complete. I waited about 4-5 mins for it to turn from yellow to green
    7. Rerun the installation
From the above steps, I managed to resolve this problem.

    Henry

    Hello Henry,
The exitcode -11113 is just a generic message to tell us that a core service has failed to start. In this case, it is the UME service due to the error java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/security/core/util/config/IUMConfiguration
This is caused by an inconsistency inside NW Java stack. With any NoClassDefFound errors, We need you to patch some sca files as there is missing references or corrupted classes on the filesystem. As you say that this error occurred during an upgrade then I assume you are missing dependencies
The affected sda files belong to UME:
    com.sap.security.core.offline.sda      (extract from SAPJEECOR**_*.SCA)
    com.sap.security.api.offline.sda       (extract from SAPJEECOR**_*.SCA)
    com.sap.security.core.ume.service.sda  (extract from SAPJEE**_*.SCA)
What you need to do is to download the latest patches for the above components and apply them in your system with SUM/SDM. As there are certain dependencies with core Java components, Along with patching SAPJEECOR and SAPJEE, you should also patche SAPJTECHS and SAPJTECHF.

    David

You did not meet the requirements necessary for a SAP installation, you pagefile is too small. Check the installation guide for necessary pagefile requirements.

  • Single SOA Suite Install with multiple oc4j instances and java processes

We right now have 5 BPEL processes and 5 ESB processes all running under one java.exe process. We would like to seperate some of
them out into their own java.exe processes without having to install more
%ORACLE_HOME% instances of SOA Suite. I can create an oc4j instance but of
course it doesn't have any SOA Suite stuff deployed to it. I tried to see what
the install would do with this new oc4j instance but it wants to create a new
%ORACLE_HOME% with an entire installation of SOA Suite.
Is there some sort of way to clone oc4j instances that have SOA Suite deployed to them so that you
    don't need multiple %ORACLE_HOME% instances?
    ### How is this Issue Impacting Your Business ###
We really don't want to have a lot of %ORACLE_HOME% instances to have to maintain. We are
migrating projects over from our current integration server product and we'll
have potentially dozens more BPEL and ESB projects. We definitely want to
group and isolate projects so that outages of one project do not bring down
    others that are unrelated.
We are currently experiencing periodic problems with one BPEL project that requires recycling but all the other BPEL and ESB
projects get recycled also. If we could put this project into it's own java
process without creating another SOA SUITE instance, it would be a big
    help.
    ANSWER
    =======
You can create multiple domains in BPEL or create multiple systems/groups in ESB to group different projects.
    MY REPLY:
    =========
We have been using systems/groups in ESB but they all run under the save java.exe process. I would assume that having a seperate domain in BPEL would also run in that same java.exe process.
Right now, the one BPEL project we have a problem with will gobble up all the JDBC connections from time to time and that requires a recycle of SOA Suite, which means all BPEL and ESB projects that run in that java.exe process get recycled also. We're working that issue in a different ticket.
It would be nice if the SOA Suite installation would install against a new oc4j instance and not assume it has to create a complete %ORACLE_HOME% instance. The components of SOA Suite seem to be J2EE based components.
Scenario: I already have an oc4j instance called oc4j_soa and a complete %ORACLE_HOME% installation of soa suite. I then create a new oc4j instance from Enterprise Manager. Then I would deploy the esb-dt, esb-rt, orabpel, etc. components of SOA Suite to that new oc4j instance and modify the necessary config file so that it can work with OHS and the SOA Suite Databases. Is this possible?
Does anyone have any experience with this or do people typically install multiple complete installation of SOA Suite with mulitple Oracle Homes?

    Hi,
yes, on metalink you get in touch with real experts....
You have to install serveral application servers to get different ORACLE_HOMEs.
For each one, you can install a BPEL PM.
But: For each BPEL PM you need your own database instance, or you have to configure them as a clustered BPEL installation.... (but i do not know if this work with non RAC DBs)

    Hi Muddassar,
    Hope you are doing good.
A new note has been released exclusively for this issue. Please see:
note 1937296 - SUM fails at start-shadow-instance-dm step. This is not
an issue with the SCAs and more with the kernel employed.
You will need to make sure that you are on the latest kernel so that
    this can be resolved.
The below links will help you if there are any queries with the
    kernel update procedure

  • Why java process crashes frequently

We are facing an issue with our Oracle CMS server which is a java process. Content server instance is going down again and again within 5 minutes. We don't see any entries in the content server log files. However there is a crash dump of the java process that we get. I am attaching log entries here. Can any one please guide by looking at the logs as what could be the probable issues for the crash.

Looks like Stellent comes with the JRE built in, judging from the stuff in the shared-libs. This smells like a HotSpot bug - you might dig around in the Sun bug database and see if there's anything similar there. In any event, the advice to work with oracle/Stellent is sound, since everything in that log points at something either in Stellent or in the Sun JRE itself.

  • Starting New process (continous) from another java process

    Hi,
I am running into a trouble in starting a new java process (continous process it is like daemon process ) from another java process.
    Eg;
Caller.java runs on one JVM instance, from this Caller.java i need to start a daemon java process ConnectionManager.java (My caller.java should have to know whether ConnectionManager was successfully started as a seperate java process or not)
Also Caller.java has to stop ConnectionManager.java(which is running as seperate process)
    Any help would be appeciated.
    Thank you very much.

First of all the design is unusual. Your issue is basically intercommunication between two processes written in java. There are various ways to do that:
    1. Use Persistent system(File/Database) : Easiest but have external dependency.
    2. Use RPC calls both JVM,s little bit complex.
    3. Run new JVM in debug mode and connect on bootstrap port.
    4. Communicate using Sockets.
    Whatever suits you...

First I am trying again with downgraded version of j2sdk from 1.4.2_15 to j2sdk-1.4.2_12. I hope this should work. If not, is there any way, so that i skip this phase "Configure System Landscape Directory" and jump to next phase? I can configure SLD manually later-on. Please suggest is this the right approach?
    Please help.
    Thanks,

    HI,
I think SAP recommend using J2SDK1.4.2_15. Since this windows, have your java env as >> Drive:\j2sdk1.4.2_15...
Try if this is gonna work.
    Thanks,

  • J2EE:some java processes running

    HI!
I have a general question regarding the SAP Solution Manager.
We have succesfully installed SAP SOLMAN 4.0 (Windows, Oracle).
Unfortunately when I start SAP system with MMC-Console, I see that the Java-instance is yellow.
    (disp+work.exe --> tells, J2EE:some java processes running).
I cann log on to the system, but it scares me a lot (in Tr. SICK are no errors).
<b>Can some one tell, wheter it is critical and how can I solve this problem?</b>
    Thank you!
    regards

it seems, that your j2ee engine is not coming up correctly.

  • Java Processes for Planning Applications

    Hi There,
We've experienced performance issues where we have reached the limit of the java process for Hyperion Planning - WAS element. My question! Is it possible to create multiple java processes for Hyperion Planning, for example: If we have 7 Planning applications could we have 7 Java processes running - one for each application?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Couple of thoughts on scaling:
    1. Change the mx setting to 1200m -- this is the most you can scale a single instance on 32-bit
    2. Use a 64-bit platform you can set memory settings really high (AIX/Solaris)
    3. Multiple servers with planning on it using a load balancer

  • Memory space using a 32bit Java process on Redhat Linux

I have a java process that I need a lot of memory for. Its a 32 bit process, and I have no desire to have it as 64bit due to the huge pointers it forces.
So I know I can turn to Solaris where I will have close to 4GB of memory available for this process (right?). But are there Linux alternatives? I am especially curious regarding Redhat on intel64 machines as I have (which is the common desktop hardware nowadays).
I heard about the hugemem kernel for Redhat, but I am lost understading its nature. It is said it is not available for v.5 for x86. So is it available for the intel64 processors as I have? And what is the max memory space for a java process?
Any other bit of information about java 32bit process running on a linux flavor on an intel64 machine will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance!

I'd say this is normal. There are a few things to consider when looking at an application like this:
    1. The 14 MB your process consumes include the memory required to load the java virtual machine. That is, all the base classes, native links, the just in time compiler etc. 14 MB isn't a lot, all things considered.
    2. When you display a message box, java will load additional classes and resources. They increase the heap size, though not really by 4 MB. Java preallocates portions of memory for the heap. If, for instance, your application consumes 16 MB of memory and you allocate another MB, the heap size may grow to 32 MB. Having a free section of heap space to spare increases performance, since java won't have to ask the underlying system for free memory every you create an object. You might want to check out your program in JVisualVM (deployed with every JDK6), which will tell you how much of the allocated heap size is really in use, or you can rely on the according methods in the Runtime class.
    3. The JVM is capable of 'heap shrinking', meaning it will return allocated sections of memory to the OS once in a while. However, it will not do so unless the heap size is significantly larger than the used portion of the heap (otherwise, it would defeat the purpose of preallocating memory). So if you allocate 2GB of RAM when clicking your button and allow this memory to be cleared by the garbage collector, you'll observe that the heap will shrink again eventually.
