Extracted AIR application files for distribution
Hi All
We have a requirement to distribute the air application as drag and drop for Mac.
Since an installed air application can be copied from the Applications directory on Mac, and is playable from other system, is this a proper way of distribution.
Has somebody come across this issue. Can we actually do it like this.Good question! Seriously, these are the kinda concerns that arise when you're writing code for other's use. I'd assume you use a jar. I'm eager to hear other answers and methods.

Packaging application files for distribution
I've an application I want to move to another machine. Should I create Packages and a corresponding directory structure on the new machine, or simply dump all the .java and .class files into a common directory? There's only about a dozen .java and .class files.
Or, is a better route to make a jar file?
I ask because my IDE ( JCreator ) creates a default package and directory structure when workng in project-mode, so do I need to emulate this on the new machine?
Thank,

So another in my long line of questions in trying to change the implementation of the help systems at my new employer.
So, the pressure is to convince the existing guard to toss out the old method and go with a new method... One of the issues has come up for CSH Webhelp (via RH10)...
Apparently, in the old method (where every help topic was it's own CHM - no, I'm not kidding). They kept it that way so that any time a help file was updated, they could just send out that one chm to update that one topic.
Now they are worried that if we switch to webhelp using topics in one single big project that we can't just send out a single updated file any more...
So I'm trying to get ammunition as to how updates to the help can be distributed without it being a big hassle...
We do have small updates that go out about every week, and they are afraid that going to the webhelp (1 project with lots of topics) method will require more time and effort for the techs because they will have to complete the update of a huge help system every time.
One solution we have suggested is that we only update help files on major releases and add any changes to help procedures in the Release Notes or in a separate PDF and also include a note that the help files "will be updated to reflect this change in the XX/2015 XYZ Release).
Does ANYONE have any other ideas of how distribution could be done efficiently so that we don't have to continue this "project per topic" fiasco?
HELP!!! PLEASE!!!!Amebr - you hit the nail on the head... i want to apologize to everyone for all this mass hysteria...but this has been a freaking rollercoaster... one day they are happy with the plan, the next day they decided they want to complicate it more... So now my job is to find out how viable and how tricky and perhaps how dangerous it will be to send out JUST the files that have been changed. Especially for CSH!
Anyone have any experience with this or have any advice? Peter? I suspect you might know how this might work... are they any pitfalls to watch out for.. I just have this fear of sending out a few files from an entire project... Altho, it appears when I publish, ONLY the files that have been edited in some way show a new date.. that includes non-topic files - so i'm assuming sending all those will keep the TOC, Index, and Search features working properly... as well as incoming and outgoing links from an edited topic?
Another question would be how to handle new images in a project... as the image folder tends to be the largest, i don't want to have to send the entire image folder... Thoughts...???? Advice? Jeff? Peter? Amebr? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller....?
THANKS!Best/Easiest Practice for Distribution of Webhelp files for Fat(ish) Client Application
OH... and Jeff... my apologies for the misnomer of using the term "Fat-ish" client in reference to this... I totally misspoke and should have said Mobile App... but in my mind, any time you have to download something to use it, it's a fat client... sorry! :-/ -
Application Launch Failure for Pro Tools
I have a new MacBook Pro 15inch i5 with Logic express pre-installed.
I want to run both Pro Tools and Logic express via my Mbox.
I 'm having problem launching Pro Tools 6.9.2. When I go to launch it I get the following message:
Application Launch Failure
The application "Pro Tools LE 6.9.2" could not be launched because of a shared library error:"<ProTools PPC dbg><Pro Tools PPC dbg><DAE><Ficsetinputmutemodetransition>"
What dose this message mean exactly?. How can I fix this problem?
Is it possible to run Pro Tools 6.9.2 version on the Macbook Pro?
Kind Regards
RichardHi Richard and welcome to Discussions,
if I read this chart http://www3.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=54&itemid=23639 correctly, then the answer is no.
6.9.2 does not work on Intel-based Macs and Snow Leopard 10.6
Sorry

Building Multiple Apps for Distribution Advisory
Has anyone read the "Building Multiple Apps for Distribution and Validating Your Distribution Builds" advisory yet? Am I the only one who's jaw is dropping that they've changed the rules again?
See here's the thing... I've already released an iPhone application. What is going to happen if I submit an updated version of the application using a new distribution profile? Is that going to cause problems for my customers? In other words, is the upgrade process going to work for them? How do I know the answers to these questions?
Furthermore... the instructions reference "company name". What are individual developers supposed to do? My application was already rejected at least twice because I had "iPhone Distribution: Developer Name" in the Code Signing Identity field instead of just "iPhone Distribution". Now you're telling me this has changed? Could you just confirm that please, before I go through another week+ of submission ****?
And seriously, could we get a show of hands: What developer here thinks they'll never want to develop more than one application for the iPhone?
Sorry, but my mind is just boggling. This gives rise to a few questions for me as well.
We currently have one application in the App Store (app 1) and is looking to launch a second (app 2).
App 1 is signed with a distribution provisioning (pp 1) created particularity for that app before the new guidelines and is in the App Store.
We have created a new distribution provisioning profile (pp 2) for a wildcard app ID as advised in the new guidelines. This will be used going forward.
Questions:
1. Will we need to rebuild the old App 1 signed with the new wildcard provisioning (pp 2) and resubmit it to iTunes Connect testing in order to get both apps running at the same time? Seems impractical.
2. Can app 2 be assigned any valid app-id (e.g. com.mycompany.newapp) created in the program portal in its info.plist file?
3. If there at a later stage is a new version of app 1 should it be built with the new profile (pp 2) instead of the one used originally for that app (pp 1)?
I can see in the program portal that the old pp 1 (non-wildcard) expires 10/02/2008 while the newly created pp 2 is valid way into 2009.
Looking forward to know the answers to these questions - as are a lot of developers who had titles for the App Store launch and is currently putting new ones out I would imagine.
Thanks. -
Adobe Premiere Pro CC launches for some users, but crashes for others.
I am troubleshooting an issue in a college computer lab. Adobe Premiere Pro CC launches perfectly for some users, but crashes for others. All computers are joined to a domain. The program launches successfully under faculty and admin accounts. It launches under my student account and will launch for some students in the class. There are, however, some students who cannot get the program to launch. Each time it fails when attempting to load ImporterQuickTime.prm.
For these students, the following error appears:
Adobe Premiere Pro CC has stopped working
Check Online for a solution and close the program (Tried this nothing seems to come of it)

I did check Quicktime and it is not updated to the most recent version. However, if it was a result of Quicktime not being up to date, why can some accounts launch the program while others cannot. I have also updated the graphics driver on one computer. No change. I compared my student Active Directory account to that of one student who could not launch the program. They are in exactly the same place in AD and therefore have the same permissions on the domain. This is a puzzling issue and the instructor is getting frustrated. Any help or suggestions with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
-BarbI have no idea, other than what I said about the program's design requirement for an Admin account and "sometimes" problems on any other account
About the only thing I can suggest is a "remote control" chat session... when a student with a non-working account is having problems
Creative Cloud chat support (all Creative Cloud customer service issues)

Error during creation of application entity for the plug-in.
Hi Experts,
As part of creating Content Database source for SES....
We,
1 Activated the Oracle Internet Directory identity plug-in for the Oracle Content
Database instance.
2) However after activating Identity plug-in for Oracle Internet Directory.... ......... we used the csPlugin.ldif file to create an application entity for the plug-in by running the following command "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/ldapmodify -h oidHost -p OIDPortNumber -D "cn=oracle" -w password -f csPlugin.ldif" ....but in the process executing the above command.... getting the following error(we gave correct login details):
SASL/DIGEST-MD5 authentication started
ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Invalid credentials (49)
How can i resolve this.
I have another query...in the command "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/ldapmodify -h oidHost -p OIDPortNumber -D "cn=oracle" -w password -f csPlugin.ldif" which user name should i specify..... is it "cn=oracle" or "cn=orcladmin"
Thanks
peter.Hi Raford,
Thanks for your reply.

could you please guide us.

How do i insert a splash screen or a loading screen and a application image for a phone app on Dream
How do i insert a splash screen or a loading screen and a application image for a phone app on Dreamweaver 6, 5.5 had the mobile application setting that is seemingly no longer present? and i also heard you can use animanted backgrounds on the mobile application in dreamweaver 6 but figuring out how to set the splash screen and application image like it was in 5.5 would be nice. All i can get to pull up is the web application i developed i am trying to build into a phone app on google chrome, if i could officially designate it as a phone app where i can set each splash screen and app image to where it is recognized as a phone app that would be really nice.
Duely noted, the server will still not connect, so i have left an inquery in the suggested forum.

One suggestion that I've heard is that there has been unexpectedly high demand on the server since the launch of Edge Tools and Services as part of the Creative Cloud last month. As far as I know, the only thing you can do is wait, and try again later. You could also try posting in the PhoneGap Build forum: http://community.phonegap.com/nitobi/products/nitobi_phonegap_build.

I used to have the iPhoto application and for some reason it is now gone. Do I have to pay 14.99 in order for me to be able to have it again or is there a way I can get it back. I have a MacBook pro 10.9.5 .
Depends on what you had
If you had iPhoto version 9.5.1 then you can reinstall from the app store under purchases
If you had any version of iPhoto '11 then you can install for free from the App store
If you had any earlier version of iPhoto (iPhoto '09 version 8.x.x) or older then you need to purchase iPhoto '11 version 9.x.x from the app store
If you had iPhoto '08 (version 7.x.x) or older then you also need to download and run the iPhoto library upgraded prior to launching the new iPhoto

We are configuring a group policy to launch an application upon login to the Remote Desktop Server.
The following group policy object is configured;
User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Session Host/Remote Session Environment
By default, Remote Desktop Services sessions provide access to the full Windows desktop, unless otherwise specified with this setting, by the server administrator, or by the user
in configuring the client connection. Enabling this setting overrides the "Start Program" settings set by the server administrator or user. The Start menu and Windows Desktop are not displayed, and when the user exits the program the session is automatically
logged off.
Start a program on connection - Enabled
Program path and file name "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Application Virtualization Client\sfttray.exe" /launch "universe 1"
Working Directory
This has also been tested running Notepad.exe
The application launches successfully.
Upon exiting the application the App-V client shuts the application down successfully but the RDS session does not log the user out or end the RDS session. The sftdcc.exe process
does not timeout.
Using Task Manager to end the sftdcc.exe process initiates the logout process.
Is the following still valid for Server 2008 R2 and App-V v4.6 x64?
Can’t find any reference to it via;
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd464849.aspx
How To Deal With Microsoft App-V sftdcc.exe when Sessions are not closed properly After installing Microsoft App-V for terminal servers
users sessions are not closed properly after logoff. You can see through the Citrix Advanced Management Console that the session is in disconnected state and sftdcc.exe is running in the user session.
There are two registry keys you can set for this problem to disappear:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Softricity\SoftGrid Client\CurrentVersion\Configuration\
Value Name: DCCSeamlessTimeout
Type: REG_DWORD
String: 0
I have tried adding the DCCSeamlessTimeout to the HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Softgrid\4.5\Client\Configuration
but this does not have any effect.Updates on this issue.
if you are running window server 2008 R2 install this hot fix:
KB2815716-v2-x64
then add this registry values:
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\SysProcs" /v sftdcc.exe /t REG_DWORD /d 0
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\SysProcs" /v splwow64.exe /t REG_DWORD /d 0
then reboot, and that will fix it.
if you are running 2012 r2, then only add the registry values and reboot.

After clicking to send/not send an error report, I get back to the desktop where all appears normal. However, I can no longer access the internet while logged in under this account.
I can log in on another PC with the domain admin account with no error.
Any help would be appreciated.Hi,
I would like to suggest you run System File Checker with command: sfc /scannow to scan and repair the system files.
If it does not work, please also test the issue in Clean Boot.
Clean Boot
================
Let’s disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading
program or service. Please perform the following steps:
1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.
2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System
Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
What’s the result in Clean Boot?

In Need of an Application Launcher
Does anyone know of an application launcher that will launch multiple applications simultaneously and remember their window state (size, position and desktop)? I'm running OS X Mavericks so I'm looking specifically for an application that was released no earlier than October 22, 2013. Also, what I mean by window size, position, and desktop is that windows can be resized to our liking and positioned on our screens where we put them, and ever since a few OS X releases ago we could assign applications to launch in certain desktops and these desktops can be managed using what is now called Mission Control. I really need an application that can do all of this. I thought of using Automator but I’m not sure how to get it to remember window size and position.
Thanks!I have zero experience with Applescript, but perhaps what I'm looking for can work using Applescript. I will consider it after any suggested applications fail to offer what I need.
I've viewed features of several application launchers, but the closet I've seen to offering what I need are those that will allow the user to save specific applications in a list or menu, but the applications still must be launched individually. Personally, I see no advantage to that as I can launch individual applications using Spotlight, Finder, or Launchpad.
Thanks for your suggestion Barney-15E. -
Acrobat X Pro launches for a short period, then goes dead
Acrobat X pro does launch for something like 10 seconds. While the Application Manager shows up in the dock, acrobat is getting terminated and shortly after, the application manager stops too.
can not work with our pdf forms anymore.... all the returned and filled in forms are worthless due to this very bad release of acrobat x pro
can anybody help?
thx, andreasI would try uninstalling Acrobat X Pro, and reinstall it again.
I had the same problem but it was because of a conflict between an install of Acrobat X Pro and an install of Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection (which includes Acrobat X Pro). I uninstalled all, and reinstalled and it now works fine.
