Clicking on a link to open a new page or tab gives me a blank page.

If I click on a link to open a new page or a new tab, the page that opens is always blank and no address is in the address bar. Also, occasionally, my refresh button is "grayed" out so I can't hit that either. I think this is some sort of security setting blocking it. Can anyone help.

Thanks Jason, I had the same problem and did exactly the steps above. Problem solved! You rock! :)

Ever since I downloaded the new Firefox, when I right-click on a link to open it in a different tab, the tab will open but will not load anything, no matter what link I try. The tab will show the website destination in the navigation bar, but will not automatically load it; I have to press the load button in the navigation bar instead of it instantly loading.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== The newest version, 3.6.6, of Firefox was downloaded

It's not specific sites. I can middle-click on the same link 50 times and it will open it in a new tab 45 times and 5 of those times, it will randomly open it in an entirely new window. I don't know what's causing this.
It happens so randomly that I don't know how to pin-point what it could be.

I'm running Firefox 3.6.13 and if I click on a link to open a new window nothing shows up - i.e. if I click on 'enlarge' on an Ebay auction photo a new window opens but it's blank inside.
Any ideas please? I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, and downloading and installing Flash but no joy.

• Firefox closes after I click on a link to open a new window

I had to reinstall Window 7, and of course, Firefox and Thunderbird. Now Firefox closes after I click on a link to open a new window. For example, if I'm in Thunderbird, and i click on a link in an email, Firefox gives me a message like "Firefox is already open, but must close before opening a new window."

Is there more than one installation of Firefox listed in the Programs installed?

• When I right click on a link to open in new tab and move my cursor into the dialog box the box dissapears this is new in the last 24 hours.

I'm using Firefox 8.0 on Suse 11.4 today is 11/28/11 the past 24 hours I've been experiencing this: I always try to right click on links and open in new tab, lately when I do so and move the cursor into the dialog box the box disappears. Also if I online shop say for clothing, if I want to change size's when I click the button to do so nothing happens when I want to scroll down and pick a different size, (I can hi-light the size and click on it then when the window scrolls back up the default size is still there. This isn't consistent with all web sites.

• Flash website - need link to open in new page

I created my web site in Flash and published it as an HTML file. It's a page that has thumbnails. Clicking on a thumbnail should open a new window to view the full-size version.
When I play a SWF file and click on thumbnails, my project opens in a separate window.
When I open my page (published in Flash as HTML) in Dreamweaver and view it in the browser, when I click on thumbnails, instead of opening a new window full-size version overrides the current window contents -- but there is no "back" tab on the content, and the browser "back" tab takes me to the home page rather than back to the previous window.
How do I make it so that the link opens a new window (that can then be closed after viewing) rather than overriding the contents of the existing window after I publish my page as HTML file?
Thanks for suggestions!

My flash published html file works fine, I cannot open my thumbnails in a separate window when I open my HTML file in the browser from Dreamweaver.
It doesn't even open in the different tab. It opens over my viewing page and I have to click "back" in the browser, but it goes back to the main menu not to previous viewing page.
My thumbnails and links to the full-size files are in a separate XML file.
Thanks again

• Problem with opening new tabs, when I right-click on a link and open in new tab it doesn't automatically load up like firefox 3.6 always did. Is there anyway to fix this?

for example there's a link a friend sent me in my e-mail and I right-click on it, and select "Open in a new tab" it pops open like normal, except it does not load the page, I have to click the box and press enter to even get it to load it. In previous versions I have never had that problem, current version of Mozilla Firefox I am using is version 4, previous was 3.6 hope this helps figure this out.

• I keep getting redirects if I click on a link. If I click the same link with open in new tab or window it opens fine.

I get redirects always in current open page. If I click a link and say open in new tab or new window it does not redirect. I've noticed explorer is now advertising built in software to eliminate someone hijacking their browser. If I have to keep searching for tools to clean registry's and browser issues -- I may have to switch back to Explorer or Chrome. Lately my Firefox which I'm most used to is driving me nuts... Why can't you guys provide a tool that cleans the adware, hijacks, etc off the browser? I even downloaded the latest version and I'm still having the same problem-- seems the hijack to redirect remains......

• Whenever I click on a link, firefox opens a new tab instead of opening the link in the existing tab. How do I correct this?

I open firefox and type in CNN(or any other item). When the link appears I click on it. Instead of opening in the existing tab, firefox opens a new tab.

Thank you for this information. I love learning new things!

• When clicking on a link, it opens a new tab rather than just opening in the existing tab. How do I stop that?

For example, when I'm in Flickr and I'm looking at an album, I click on a picture and it opens a new tab for that picture. When I click on the arrow to see the next picture in the series, it proceeds to open yet another tab, and so on. It's not difficult to have tabs that span the width of my screen in no time at all.

This should help:
1. Go to: Tools > Options > Tabs
2. There is a section at the top that says 'Open links that open in a new window in:' and then a drop-down menu
3. In the drop-down menu, select the 'Current Tab' Option
4. Click 'OK'

• When I click on a link, Firefox opens a new window for that link, how do I change this setting?

I am unaware of having made any changes to my settings before this started. The best way I can describe it is that simply clicking on a link causes it to "open link in new window" rather than simply "open"

• Each time I click on a link in safari a new page opens. How do I stop this?

How do I stop a new page from opening each time I click on a link?

If the page contains the link you clicked on, choose Preferences from the Safari menu, click on Tabs, and change the settings as desired.
If the page contains an ad, click here and run the tool.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

• Way to click on link to open in new page?

Anyone figure out a way to open a link in a new page? I have a couple of pages I use as "home" pages and I'd like to be able to tap and open a link in a new page to keep the existing page at its site.

I haven't found a way yet. It depends on how the original page was coded.
If it's a page you control, try adding the following to the link anchor tag:
target="_blank". If not, sorry. Maybe it's something they'll add, but honestly, I doubt it (my personal opinion). It would add clutter to a portion of the interface that's working quite smoothly right now. There's no precedent for a 2-fingered tap like holding down a key, and holding down on the URL for a pause already does something.
My two cents. Sorry! I agree it would be very useful.

And why all the futzing around in Javascript? Why not just use <a> or <h:outputLink> in the normal way? What value are you trying to add here?
I'm new to JSF.OP answered that already. I guess the OP really wants to turn a table row into something clickable, a link won't suffice then. Basic JSF tags don't support tagging event handlers to individual rows/columns as far as I know.
@OP: you should really check out extension frameworks like Primefaces which have more advanced datatable implementations. Check out this for example:

There is also Richfaces, Icefaces, Tomahawk. Probably using any of these extension frameworks you hardly ever have to write manual javascript.
