When I click on the iTunes ikon I get a box pop up which reads Problem with shortcut. The item iTunes.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.
My computer which is a packard bell vista operating system, recently stopped working as the power supply overheated and blew up and it has recently been sent back to the Know How team at PC world and it seems to be since it came back I now cannot open iTunes. I have also tried to search for iTunes in the search bar, I can see several files, but can't seem to open any of these either. I think that quicktime isn't working, either.
I have over 4000 songs in iTunes that I had recorded from my collectiong of CD's am going to loose all these now? Can anyone help, with very easy instructions as I really don't know what I am doing??

I would copy over the entire thing if you have room. With iTunes 10.4 though, you can download any previous iTunes purchases you have made in the past with your current iTunes account. While in iTunes, look at the left hand side of your screen and select "Purchases" and look at the bottom right corner of the screen and select "Download Previous Purchases". If you have an iPhone, iPod and/or iPad...you can do the same thing from each device. Nice new feature...just remember that those ripped CDs need a back-up!!! Enjoy...

I think it is some sort of permissions issue preventing the installer from updating the shortcuts. Is your account an administrator of the machine? If it is and you still have the problem then you may need to explicitly use the "Administrator" account for the install.

I have tried the solutions that I have seen already. Restarting the computer and then repairing through the Control Panel. It didn't work. I have removed the software and done multiple restarts and reinstalls. I'm running on Vista 64 bit and the last iTunes from last spring ran fine. Any other ideas? You have (probably accidentally) moved or deleted the Lightroom program. You need to find it (have your operating system search for lightroom.exe) and move it back to where the shortcut expects it to be.

Thanks, Michael. Itunes Match is not enabled on my daughter's Itouch. I have subscribed to it and have used the service to back up my song purchases. I merely did a sync via USB (as normal) to her Itouch. The sync wiped out 85% of the playlists that were on my home computer for the last seveal years. I have updated her itouch multiple times - both before and after I had subscribed to iTunes Match. After the last sync to her iTouch, the playlists just disappeared. My home computer is the main device I use to manage my Itunes library and my playlists. I am not sure what happened?
BTW - how are you affiliated with Apple? Are you? I feel like I have explained the issue pretty clearly, but your responses seem to focus on her iTouch and not my computer, where the playlists are managed. I want to know how to get the playlists back on my computer.

Your songs and iTunes balance are fine, they are not influenced by the iTunes applications or any issues it may have. The message you are experiencing indicates the folder where iTunes is saved has changed, or no longer exists. Since you are using a shortcut (a link to where the application iTunes is installed) and you're getting this message, it means the iTunes application is not where it used to be located.
I would suggest trying to reinstall iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes and let us know if you encounter any errors messages.

Look in Windows Explorer, Music Library, My Music, iTunes, iTunes Media, Music which is where your library should be located. If it isn't there make sure you have the first two items on the advanced tab of the preferences ticked, then on the file menu select Library and Organise Library which should put all music remaining on your PC into the iTunes library.
Alternatively, if you can find where the music has become relocated to, move it into the automaticall 'add to iTunes' folder within itunes Media and it should then go back into your library.
