Clients using Muse/business catalyst to edit their site

I am currently hosting clients' sites from my Creative Cloud account. Do clients have to sign up for a CC account to continue to host and edit their site? Is there a way to transfer Muse sites to another account?

  • Adobe Muse & Business Catalyst "InContext Editing" formatting limitation problem

I created a site in Adobe Muse, and hosting it on Business Catalyst (web marketing account). I want my client to update site using the new "Edit" tab for "InContext Editing.” Made her an administrator and user like myself. I can edit content, but no formatting is allowed. Not even allowing me to add a link. A setting in Muse or BC I need to change? Any help appreciated, thanks.

    Hi
Can you replicate the same behavior with any site you have published with Muse or any specific site ?
If you try to add any content , do you face any error ? or what exactly happens ?
Please try to check this with a different page and add a simple text and publish.
If still same issue, it would best to submit a support ticket directly.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Help: Using Adobe Muse & Business Catalyst with Google Domains: URL not mapping

    Hi,
I've had some issues publishing my site to the internet using Adobe Muse (version CC 2014) and publishing to Adobe Business Catalyst.
I am currently using Google Domains to host my domain name (www.mattandsangeeta.com) and have tried on multiple occasions to get the domain name to correctly map  using Adobe's Business Catalyst nameservers.
I've verified with Google Domains that their process is setup correctly to map to my site, so it indicates the issue is on how I've configured my Adobe Muse/Business Catalyst side of things.
So far, every attempt at publishing the site via Adobe Muse has worked with its extension at http://mattandsangeeta.businesscatalyst.com/index.html, and I'm able to login into my Admin page from Adobe Muse immediately following publishing. However, when I try to login directly to the Adobe Business Catalyst page, it takes me to an admin link for www.mattandsangeeta.com that is broken.
To summarize: My published domain isn't being mapped correctly and I hit a dead end every time I try to login into the Business Catalyst website.
Thanks for your feedback and support in advance,
    Matt

    Hi
As I checked the site loads fine with domain Matt And Sangeeta . I tried to get to site manage area using Administration Login  and I see it works fine as well. I would suggest you to please try clearing browser cache and cookies and check if that helps.

  • Muse + Business Catalyst, viable now?

So now that Adobe Muse can become a full fledged CMS with integration with Business Catalyst (as seen here), along with easy to add paralax scrolling and other new advancements; do you think it has graduated to the realm of professional web development for the code-illiterate designers out there?
The reason I ask is I have been using Photoshop and Illustrator for years, but just started learning code over the last year. My current abilities allow me to code up a very basic website in HTML and CSS, but I dont yet know Javascript/jQuery and PHP and other scripting languages look like alien writting to me at this point. I am slowly learning, but for someone like me, Muse + Business Catalyst seems to be a great way to delve into web design while still learning how to code by hand on the side.
I know the code muse generates will never be as perfect as hand-coded websites (it is probably better then my hand-coded websites at this point in learning), but it seems to pass w3 validation, and seems work on most browsers.
What are your opinions on it? Should people like me use it if it gets us into web development sooner (while still learning code on the side)?
Any and all opinions are wanted, but please keep it civil.

Muse is certainly OK for quick mockups, hobbyist and small personal web sites.  But I would be embarrassed to use it on a professional site.
My gosh, the code is awful to work with.  Expect to  use MU for the life of the site.
What will you do if the client comes back later and says "I need more advanced features."  And then you learn that what the client wants isn't possible in MU because of its limited capabilities.  What will you do then?
Or what if something breaks and you don't understand the underlying code well enough to fix it?   Who will you turn to?
My advice is stay away from MU.  Don't sell your services until you've learned all you can about code and you fully understand what you're doing & how to fix things when they break.   I think that's the very least you owe your clients.

  • Muse Business Catalyst Integration

One thing I'd really like to see is a tighter Muse/Business Catalyst integration. I've been able to sell clients on the prospect of using Business Catalyst (and/or price it into my SOW), but it's still quite the chore to manually locate all of your styles using Firebug, then go back in and rewrite them all in the module stylesheet CSS.
I'd be nice to see all of the BC modules either automatically inherit styles from the main Muse stylesheets, or it'd be nicer to see Business Catalyst widgets (a la the Dreamweaver interface) be built into Muse.
Also, I'm a beta tester who would be pleased as punch to test these features.

What I'd love to see is another widget panel, designed for Business Catalyst, that would let you pop in the different elements of BC.
I was thinking along the same lines—the Muse team needs to add the BC features in as widgets. Your idea of a seperate panel is even better!
I haven't signed up for BC because I've found the interface clunky and awkward and even if you might not have to know a lot of code, you need to know some which takes it right back out of the comfort zone of the very people Muse is targeting. Make a BC panel where I can do all of the BC stuff without actually having to go to the back end and I'll gladly hand over my cash.
Just yesterday I went to play around with a form I made in Muse but wanted to add drop downs and radio buttons to. Went to BC, never understood how to get the new elements integrated with the existing form and back onto the page with the original formatting applied, made a hash of it and logged out.
At a minimum please put those other form elements into Muse (there in InDesign now, why not Muse?) but I'd really like to be able to take full advantage of a premium BC account right through Muse. Maybe it can be a panel set that you get when you sign up for a paid BC account?

Our iPads work just fine behind a firewall and the Lightspeed filtering solution in an education environment.  If your proxy solution cannot be configured to support IOS maybe you should be looking at another vendor.  Products such as 8e6 and Lightspeed can be deployed without the use of a traditional proxy set up.

  • Business Catalyst Help | Creative Cloud Sites / Upgrade and launch a site

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/upgrade-temporary-site.html

I have enrolled in BC webbasic paying monthly. (enrolled today aug 8th, 2013 and I have a muse site that I developed and published. After publishing the site I visited BC admin page hoping to launch the site but could not find the button to launch a site.

  • Muse, Business Catalyst, and client text editing

Can Muse websites have client text editability if published and hosted with business catalyst?

Talk about making apple pie complicated. I explored the idea of using ICE features within Muse pages. As it turns out, I discovered a lot of things.
    1. It could be done.
    2. It will get wiped out if you update the page in Muse when the page is republished.
So I tried the following (going around my elbow to get to my rear side.)
    1. Created my page (PG 1).
    2. Created a second Muse page (PG2). This contained the my ICE DIV and content holder.
    3. On PG 1, I did my page layout and then embedded in the center of the page an iFrame html code which pulled through PG 2.
    4. Now, when I make updates to the PG 1, the client-allowed section was not effected. To update the PG 2 text using ICE you opened it through BC Insite Editing.
The only drawback is the ICE editable text inside the iFrame must stay inside the iframe's opening dimensions you set (otherwise you have to increase it to fit the content or turn on the scrolling feature.)
    5. I wasn't sure, so I uploaded the ICE js folder to my BC hosted site and then linked PG 2 through the header scripts placement.
Tested it and it worked. I was able to use the Edit and the Repeat Section function using the Insite Editor. I did not turn on the "enable online content editing" button as described.
Like I said... complicated apple pie... but it gets the job done. Allows me to update PG without losing my client's edits.

  • Muse; Business Catalyst; Ecommerce. Need input!

    HEY EVERYBODY!
    Alrighty then. Here's the situation.
Working in Muse, doing quite a few sites with it. Great stuff. Also a Business Catalyst Partner (Branding level soon! Woot!)
Let me get this out of the way first: I'm not a code expert. Hence the reason we were attracted to the Muse / BC solution in the first place. However, while I don't "do code" on a regular basis, I can make my way around with reasonable success using Firefox and Firebug to inspect elements and do "reverse engineering" where necessary. That said, again, Muse and BC as a business / marketing and ecommerce solution is very appealing with the concept of building the site and navigation in Muse and then inserting the modules via the "HTML" object is very sweet and a big timesaver and headache reducer.
Now that you have the basic "backstory", here is the issue at hand:
A couple of upcoming clients are going to be requesting ecommerce implemented on their sites. We are planning to design the site with Muse and then use the ecommerce function in the BC system in the Muse websites.
While I get the whole process of setting up a Muse page as a "template" for the BC system by inserting the "{tag_pagecontent}" HTML object and then letting BC populate the template or "skin" with it's pre-defined layouts for ecommerce and a number of other functions, we'd really like to know how to exercise a greater level of control in the layout of the page presenting such things as the landing page of the catalogs, the product pages, shopping cart, checkout, where the bread crumb navigation is placed, the shopping cart status location, etc.
We tried this by taking the tag elements on the module template pages within BC and inserting them into Muse, but are getting no connection between the pages and the catalogs we're trying to put into the pages. For example, we'd like to have the "4 across" products in the catalog on the right 2/3 of the page with another menu down the left side or space for promotional links within the site. At the same time, we'd like to be able to put the breadcrumbs above the menu on the left and the shopping cart summary at the top right of the page above all the art created in Muse.
Is any of this making sense to anyone else out there?
Ok, so now this is started, please, positive input only. I'm not looking for someone to come in here and tell me I need to start from Ground Zero and learn code so I can create everything in DW, etc. I mean, isn't that why Muse and BC exist in the first place?
Looking forward to connecting with some minds greater than mine!
    James

The only relatively insightful guides I have found to date on this matter are in no particular order:-

Seems that there is more info about integrating BC with dreamweaver than muse at present but I will charge on nontheless.

  • Problem with Adobe Muse & Business Catalyst publishing

I am unable to publish my site on Adobe Business Catalyst via Muse.  The error in Muse is "Unknown Error" in the dialogue box "Upgrade to Adobe ID".  I have already tried deactivating and reactivating Muse.
I have also tried signing into Business Catalyst directly and get the error message "This Adobe ID email address is already registered with Business Catalyst and cannot be merged with a different Business Catalyst account".
I don't have any issue signing into Adobe Creative Cloud.
I have contacted Adobe twice about this with no response whatsoever and urgently need to publish updates to my site.
I am using Mac OSX 10.8.

    Hi Sacha
I have never, ever - not once - uploaded anything to Business Catalyst. The ID I attempt to use is my Adobe ID, which I provided in my last tech support e-mail to Business Catalyst.
I have made changes to my Adobe ID, yes. Until about a week ago, it was __________. I then changed it to __________. I also changed the password associated with the ID when your colleague (or someone with Business Catalyst via e-mail) asked me to provide it as I both wanted to comply with the request but have some security as I was having to e-mail it. I hope that seems reasonable.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,
    David
P.S. I had no idea this would be made public as I replied via e-mail. For that reason, I have edited this message and removed my IDs.

  • Switching from Muse Business Catalyst site to register domain name.

My domain name is registered through web.com
I recently created my site through Muse and previewed it using Business Catalyst. I would like to fully publish it using Adobe as my hosting and the registered domain name I purchased through web.com
How do I do this? Where do I find the DNS info they are asking for?

    Hi
    try
    http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/using/change-site-domain.html
it shows the domain names in Step 2 point 3. I recently went through the same process and my site started working within 5 mins. I might have been lucky!
