  • Faulty clone stamp

using CS5 12.0.4 x32, the clone stamp function has slowly failed.   At first only the central third of the pixels were replace. now maybe 5% of the pixels are replaced.  Painting with a grey bursh barely lays down any pixels. I thought a reinstall of app might help. Do I delete CS5 or install over the present installation?

    Hi Everybody,
We are trying to extract moveplan.xml from a provisioned FMW setup but we are stuck with an error.

So, first we ran copyConfig.sh on CommonDomain, but came across the above error.

  • Missing entrys in SPRO after upgrade to FS-RI 6.60

    Hi,
    We've upgraded FS-RI 472 to 6.60 fp4.  (R/3 470 to ERP 60 EHP 4)
Refering to the Release notes there should be some new entries under "Accounting", "Settings for Time Period".
There should be "Edit Financial Years", "Open and Close Accounting Periods". We only have "Edit Scope of Accounting Period".
Anyone have any idea? I guess I've missed some step in the upgrade.

    Randy,
Looks like you need to add more space to /tmp directory as I see the following entries in CLONE*.error file.

  • Error while creating template from win 8.1 VM

    hello Experts,
    I have a SCVMM 2012 R2 with Hyper-V host on Windows server 2008 R2 sp1 .
Next I have create a Windows 8.1 VM on Hyper-v Host machine then created a clone of this VM. It created successfully, but when i i tried to create   a template from any of these windows 8.1 VM and its Clone VM. it have got failed with error as below:
    Error (2916)
VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the agent host1.aaa.com was lost.
WinRM: URL: [http://host.aaa.com:5985], Verb: [ENUMERATE], Resource: [http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/microsoft/bits/BitsCompactServerUrlGroup], Filter: [select * from BitsCompactServerUrlGroup where UrlGroup="none"]
    Unknown error (0x80338126)
    Recommended Action
Ensure that the Windows Remote Management (WinRM) service and the VMM agent are installed and running and that a firewall is not blocking HTTP/HTTPS traffic. Ensure that VMM server is able to communicate with host.aaa.com over WinRM by successfully running
    the following command:
     winrm id –r:host.aaa.com
This problem can also be caused by a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service crash. If the server is running Windows Server 2008 R2, ensure that KB 982293 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982293) is installed on it.
If the error persists, restart thost.aaa.com and then try the operation again. /nRefer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742275 for more details.
I have removed the hyper-v then re-added host on scvmm ,Ensured that Windows Remote Management service is running.
I don't have idea exact reason for this....is there is compatibility issue win 8.1 ?

    Hello Srinivasa,
The WWI folder in program files of C drive has definitely been played with. Try installing SAP GUI again on your machine.
Also, please check for WWI installation as follows
1.If you have done local installation, please try installing again by following steps mentioned below:
    Open any Word document .docx
    click on "office button"
    click on "word options"
    click on "advanced"
    click on "file locations"
    select "user templates"
    click on "modify"
look in " C> program files>SAP> front end> SAP Gui-->wwi". click on "Ok"
2.If you have MS word 2003, go to tools> options>advanced..Then follow the above steps.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Regards

  • This update ate my Mac!

Do not read this tip, unless you want to be left with no excuse for an unsuccessful update or upgrade.
Because you won't install anything until you KNOW if it will eat your Mac, your cat, or a school bus
You have Time Machine and Time Machine is good, but it's not the same as a bootable clone. Each have their own strengths and purposes.
The clone is a file for file copy of your entire hard drive. With a clone, if your hard drive fails you can just boot from it and keep on right on working, until you have the time to repair or replace the main drive.
There are many cloning apps to choose from, you can do it through Mac OS X in Disk Utility as described in Disk Utility Help, However Disk Utility won't update the clone.
There are other cloning utilities you can use, but both SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner seem to be the most reliable and simplest to use, as reported by users here. You can also use them for incremental backups. CCC is free for backup, while SD is shareware for the backup feature. Also be sure to run Disk Utility/Disk repair before cloning and that there are no issues you know of.
Why it's guaranteed not to eat your Mac....
Because the next time you install, you will startup from your clone, by selecting it in System Preferences > Startup Disk. (At the same time in System Preferences choose Time Machine and turn it off, remembering to turn it back on when you return to your main disk.)
Now, install your test software and try it out. (Remember to Repair permissions after all installs.)
After that, you can be very sure if it works, or if there are issues. If it runs well, boot back to your main disk and install the software.
    -mj

I see that as related but not the same.
Not so much the other side of the coin but certainly from the same set of coins.

  • Is a Time Machine back up sufficient if I have a USB pen drive with Mavericks from which to reinstall the OS?

I have used SuperDuper to make bootable back ups in the past, but if Time Machine backs up files on the fly it seems unnecessary to make a full back up from time to time. The bootable backup is easier to restore, but takes up another disk. The chances of both the computer's and the Time Machine disks failing simultaneously are, one hopes, fairly remote.
    Any advice or comments appreciated.

Yes you can always boot in recovery mode and restore from the TM backup. If your data is important to you then you should have a secondary backup on another drive for safety. Drives are cheap and you just never know what's could happen. Lightning strikes in a home can fry more than one piece of equipment at one time. If you can't afford a large enough drive for a secondary backup, then a smaller drive could be used to backup just your data files using SuperDuper.
I only have one backup drive myself. But my backup drive is partitioned with TM on one and a SuperDuper clone on the other partition. Even a TM backup can become corrupt or fail. I also just like to have a bootable SD clone in case my internal fails. I can boot from the external SUperDuper clone partition and continue on until my internal could be replaced.

This is with J2SE 1.4.1 on RedHat 7.3 running a vanilla 2.4.18 kernel. I'm running everything out of shell scripts to keep from getting bitten by typos.
Here's the punchline: The identical code works just fine on RedHat 6.2 (kernel 2.2.14 or so) - same 1.4.1.
Netstat tells me there is something listening on the appropriate ports, and output from strace suggests that there is some traffic back and forth to the server. There is no firewall running - I unloaded ipchains in the interest of paranoia. (There is firewalling running on the working system, go figure...)
Help? I can post more details if that would help resolve the problem.

    I wrote

    The key was this:

fine on RedHat 6.2 (kernel 2.2.14 or so) - same 1.4.1."Identical" really was - I'd used a tar archive to make a complete copy of the code running on the RH 6.2 system. The copy included the file log/Logfile.1, written by rmid (or rmiregistry). This contains lots of IP addresses; I suspect it's more than a log. Since the original machine and the clone are separated by a firewall, attempts by the clone to contact the original failed.
Deleting the "log" directory made the problem go away.

  • How do I upgrade to mac OS X version 10.7?

I have Macbook Pro OS X version 10.6.8.  How do I upgrade to 10.7 so I can use the Quick Books for Mac software I just bought?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First, check if your Mac is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
If it's compatible with OS X Mountain Lion, open App Store and purchase OS X Mountain Lion. While Mountain Lion is downloading, make a backup of your data with Time Machine and/or Carbon Copy Cloner so, if the upgrade fails, you won't lose any file. When the download finishes, the Mountain Lion installer will show up, so follow the steps to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Also, check if your apps are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • Installing 9.2 with 10.4.6 already installed

    Hey guys,
I just purchased a new processor from WOC http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MEG42M1500/
and because of its requirements I need to install OS 9.2 on the same disk that already has 10.4.6. Presently I don't have OS 9 installed at all and I dont have the 10.4 disk with me anymore. I do have an original OS 9.1 install disk and my original Power Mac G4 OS 9 Install disk (grey) as well if that'll work plus the 10.2 - 10.3 install disks.
    After reading this page
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh763.html
I tried to install OS 9.2.1 but my only option during the install setup was to do it on my secondary storage drive, not the main drive where I need it. Is it a problem that I have File Vault active on my main drive?
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here and should I be concerned that once installing OS 9 on my main drive it will screw up/erase any part of 10.4.6?
These are the questions I ask and await your godly response.
    thanks/e
    Power Mac G4 400MHZ - soon to be 1.5 GHZ   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I don't know about "godly" response. "It's against my programming to impersonate a deity." (thus spoke C3PO in "Return of the Jedi").
Anyway, if you need to boot into Mac OS 9 on the hard drive, which is frequently the case for firmware updates which need to be applied in Mac OS 9, you need to install the Mac OS 9 drivers. I would repurchase the retail 10.4, as that's necessary for troubleshooting 10.4 issues. Assuming the last time you installed Mac OS X, you erase and installed, your problem is going to be the fact that automatically the drivers for Mac OS 9 are not installed. I would clone your system to an external hard drive as my backup FAQ says:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
And if necessary erase, apply the Mac OS 9 driver installation, and restore the system you cloned. Be sure to have at least two clones, in case the first fails.
Here is the article on how to install the Mac OS 9 drivers:

  • Back-up advice/assistance needed

hi, i have a titanium G4 with all indications of hard drive going bad and want to replace the HD. Meantime, tho i've read about Carbon Copy Cloner i'm still not clear just what the step-by-step should be as far as backing up everything before swapping out old HD for a new one.
As it stands, the Ti-Book is so slow that i hesitate trying to boot from it as the 'master' machine. What's the best way to replace the drive and restore the contents from the HD going bad....I believe what i need to create is a bootable Clone of its HD onto a firewire drive. Meantime, the only way to conveniently access the TI-Book is via Target Mode from a
healthy system. The Ti-Book is just running WAY too slow to boot into it - and the drive is making noise.
Anybody have a suggestion on the best approach to take with this. I'm thinking that if i could do the backup and restore using Target Disk mode from a desktop as the "master" machine that would be the easiest for me to understand but
need instruction on what the procedure would be for if i can do it that way...
Thanks much for any thoughts on this one.
    Mike

And once you get the two Macs connected in TDM, I strongly suggest that you forget about cloning the old hard drive. For one reason, if it's already malfunctioning, you may not have enough time to clone it completely before it fails altogether. For another, its directory may have been corrupted already, and if that's the case, a clone of it may be nonfunctional even if it is completed successfully (or appears to be).
Instead of cloning, focus on drag-copying the most important data files from the problem hard drive (the Target) to the desktop Mac's (the Host's) hard drive. Never mind the OS, any applications that can easily be reinstalled from their original source CDs, and data that is already backed up. Concentrate on backing up your highest-priority data files first. Most of those will be in your Home folder inside the Users folder, by default.

  • Journaling could not be enabled

I always format my drive using OS Extended (Journaled) I had always assumed the HD in my MacBook Pro was formatted this way. I recently cloned my HD to an external drive and in the process discovered the HD was not Journaled. Upon researching the issue I discovered I could enable journaling through Disk Utility.
I selected the external clone and enable journaling highlighted. I selected it and journaling was enabled on the external. I tried the same procedure on the internal HD and I get the dialog Journaling could not be enabled on this HD.
How can I resolve this? Disk Warrior says all is fine

Here is a summary of my solution: Remember, after I cloned my HD to the external, I discovered my internal drive had not been journaled for some unexplained reason.
The clone was not journaled as well. I assumed the file system was just copied from the internal HD to the clone. I successfully enabled journaling on the clone using Disk Utility, but failed enabling journaling on internal HD. Booting from the clone did not help. Permissions repair, and DiskWarrior did not help. Journaling could not be enabled. Then I thought I would just do a Smart Update using SuperDuper from the clone to the internal HD, thinking the file system, journaled, would copy to the internal HD. Superduper Crashed each time I tried to Smart Update the internal HD. Detailed reports were offered to be forwarded to Apple in a dialog box. Anyway, solution was to make a second clone, just in case, and then erased the internal HD and formatted extended journaled. I then used the original clone to restore the internal HD. Both volumes are now journaled and up to date. Phew!
