CMS is not started, giving up while Insatlling Business Objects XI 3.0

Hi
I am  trying to install Business Objects XI 3.0 in Linux. But it is failing at 55% all the time. I checked the log at that time and it is like
*[info] Return code from cmslogon.jar: 1*

and this is repeating till 210 seconds
I have opted for this steps while installing
1. New  enterprise install ( enable severs after installation)
2. Default ports
3. Use existing database(oracle).
4. Use existing Java application server, do not deploy web applications.
Please help with your suggestion.

Hi Tim,
I already try installing with MySql and I can see again these messages in my installation log file.
At the moment SAP Support can not give any advice to resolve this problem, do you have any idea why this can be?? and if somebody know anything about the error message that said "method amibiguos" because i believe there is the problem.
These are the resolution sending by SAP, I already try this but still the same.
Symptom
Segmentation fault during the CMS initialization phase of the install
Core file may be created in the <bobje> directory and install will abort
Gdb output of the core file shows the following:
#0 0xf63cdeee in process_next_block () from <install location>/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86/libWrapCryptoC.so
Reproducing the Issue
1. Launch installation of XIR3 or XIR3.1 on Linux running on AMD Quad Core Opteran chipset
2. Monitor the installation and notice that at approximately 55% during the install the CMS initialization phase will begin
3. CMS initialization will throw a segmentation fault and the installation will abort
Cause
The issue has been identified as a product defect and tracked under ID ADAPT01258674. The defect is in a 3rd party library which is embedded in Business Objects XI3.1 release.
Resolution
Launch the Business Objects XI3.1 installation on Linux.
Wait for the installer to extract the libWrapCryptoC.so file under <install location>/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86 directory.  This will happen well before the install reaches 55% completion.
While the install is running, and before the CMS initialization begins, replace the libWrapCryptoC.so under the <install location>/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86directory with the modified file (see attached).
Let the install continue and you will see the CMS initialize successfully.
The file is uploaded on the SAP site.
Thanks.

Try to add the hostname and IP address in the /etc/hosts file. Does your machine have more that one IP addresses?
Does the hostname contain any non alphanumeric characters like underscore etc?

Could also be a database connection issue.
    What database are you running?
We've had an issue where the database (MSSQL) was hosted on a seperate server and where Windows Authentication was used. To resolve the issue, we had to change the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) service to start with the Windows/domain account.

  • Getting status as ERROR while instantiating Business Object in work flow?

    Hi,
Getting status as ERROR while instantiating Business Object in work flow.
    How to rectify it.
    Tahnks in Advance.
Moderator message: please have a look at the dedicated Workflow forum on SCN.
Edited by: Thomas Zloch on Jan 19, 2012

    Hi,
Go to SWDD and create a new workflow. This workflow will have two steps. This is just for test purpose so we are not going to define any triggering event etc.  First step will instantiate (creating a runtime object) a business object and second step will use that runtime object to execute one of its method. We know that to instantiate any BO we need the object key to be passed. Key uniquely identifies a runtime instance of Business Object (henceforth we will refer it as BO or business object interchangeably).
use Business Object SYSTEM and method GENERICINSTANTIATE to instantiate any Business Object in workflow

  • CMS Will not start. MS SQL not starting. Error: 9003, Severity: 20, S

Sometime in the last two weeks, the master MS SQL database has been corrupted. As a result the Central Management Server will not start and we can not log into our online Crystal Reports viewer. We are running 11.0.0.1282 and what ever version of MS SQL that installed with Business Object and Crystal Reports.
Is there anyway to recover this master database (no, we do not have a backup). Can it be reinitialized and then what steps do I need to go through to get back at our reports?
    Thanks...
    Glenn

    Hi,
if you dont have a backup its getting worse. The CMS DB and FileStore Backups need to be in synch. You can re- initialize the DB...but all your Objects will be lost.
If the CMS doesnt start, you even cant backup your repots, universes etc. using the local client tools.
    Regards
    -Seb.

  • CMS is not started

Hi, I installed trial version of Business Objects Edge series. DUring installation system asked me to logon into CMS to configure but I don't know what password I was suppose to give and thus after multiple tries I decided not to logon. Now I see that CMS server is stopped and I am not able to start and I dont know what to do. I can not at all login into anything.
    Thanks,

    Hi, The version is 11.5.8.826.
The serve log is given below. I repeat that during the end of installation it asked me to enter the password for CMS. I did not know what the password would be so I had to cancel that and thus CMS did not get configured. Please let me know how I can do it now or I have to reinstall. Please also let me know what would be the first time password.

  • Error while creating Business Object

    Hello All,
I am creating one business object for the Chapter ID. But while creating API method the error message is coming up as "Parameter <parametername> does not have a reference structure".
But I already defined BAPI Structure which has the required fields and also i follow the Std. naming convenions.
Kindly guide me for the same.
    Egarly Waiting for the reply.
    Regards
    Nilesh Shete

    Hi Nilesh,
could you please go a bit more into detail?
Best would be to post the interesting parts of your source code here.
At the moment I can only guess that you created an adaptive RFC model. But did you also create a context node and bind the model to it?
What do you mean with "creating API method" and "I am creating one business object for the Chapter ID"?
    Regards
    Helmut

The BO XI R2 server can only be installed on a server version of WIndows (eg. WIndows Server 2003 or 2008)
The BO XI R2 client (even the latest SP 6) is not supported on Windows 7.

  • Issue While creating Business Objects in SWO1

    Hi all,
I just want to add a FM to my Business Object.
In the FM, when i define the import and export parameters using "TYPE" the FM is working fine. But while adding that method to a Business Object in SWO1, an error is raised. The details are -
Data type xxxx cannot be used for methods
    Message no. OL403
    Diagnosis
You tried to create a method in the BOR with a data type that is not supported. Only data elements and structures are allowed as reference types for parameters in the BOR.
But when i use "LIKE" in place of "TYPE", everything is working fine. Why i want to use "TYPE" in place of "LIKE" is that "LIKE" as typing for parameters is obsolete.
Please suggest the reason for the same.
    Thanks,
    Deb

    Deb,
TYPE is not supported in BOR method. You may check the following link for more information:

  • Signaling start and stop of a Business Objects report execution

Hi we are facing the following issues on Business Objects:
When starting a report we would like to signal to the backend database that the report has stared.
When finishing a report we would like to signal to the backend database that the report execution has ended.
Any idears on how this can be hooked into the reports?
    Best regards
    Jacob Mossin Andersen

What type of report, and what type of signal?  Are you scheduling or on-demand viewing?
    Need more info.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • CMS is not starting

    Hello,
I am facing issue when trying to start the BOE CMS from CCM. The error message shows in event viewer is
The root server reported an error Initialization Failure. (Reason: Database access error. Reason ORA-00942: table or view does not exist.).
The CMS.log is showing this too:
    [Thu Jan 29 23:39:51 2009]      7212    7744    assert failure: (.\dbssoracle_impl.cpp:465). (0 : ORA-00942: table or view does not exist)
    - I verified that the BOE CMS data base server is up and running. i am able to connect through sql developer to repository.
    - I restarted the DB server/BOE server , even after this i am getting the same error message
    - I stop/start the oracle listener also. Still no luck.
Could you please tell me if you have any idea how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Prakash,
You need to check the schema you have your DB connecting to. Ensure it is the correct one. Then log onto the scham using Oracle and see what tables and views you can see. If you update these to the post I will do a comparison, depending on the version that you have.

    Hi,
although the binding order of the network cards (2 NIC present) was correct and the hostname was present in the host files there seemed to a problem for XI 3.0 by the name resolution. I had to add the hostname explicitely in the command line arguments of the CMS ("-port <hostname>") so that it can start. During the installation process I had to start the CMS manually in order for the installation process to complete succesfully.
