Cmyk color mode is missing in pull down menu

cmyk color mode is missing in pull down menu in photoshop

You must have read my mind.  I am having the same problem.  No CMYK available or listed. I am not running Elements.  I can't imagine where it would be hiding and how would I ever know what plug in is not allowing me to access CMYK.

• Converting from pantone to cmyk color mode in Indesign CS3??

I am working on a business card for a customer, I am using Adobe Indesign CS3.
I use an outside company for the printing job called 4over (4over.com) and they require you use their cmyk pdf print engine so they can do the job properly... Basically to break it down: I am in Indesign CS3, I choose Print, and as the printer I choose their "4over pdf cmyk print engine" so the colors do not convert and the color doesnt change when they use their printers.
4over is telling me my document is in pantone color mode, they can see the pantone color 371C, but not the cmyk values.
How do I change from pantone color mode to cmyk color mode???
if anyone can help me please. I would really appreciate it.
I attached the file I sent to 4over incase that helps anyone answer my question.
Thank you,
Brandon

Before exporting, in the swatch panel, select your Pantone colour, right click and select swatch options. Change the color type to Process and the color mode to CMYK.
If it's a business card and you showed the client a pantone swatch, know that you won't get the same colour results. There's a very useful Pantone book available that shows swatches side by side with CMYK values.

I’m using an iMac running Os X Yosemite, Photoshop CS5 Extended, R2880 Epson printer  In the Print Settings dialog box, I can’t select Color, Advanced BW or Grayscale unless I select “Printer Manages Color”. The pull down menu is grayed out. Even with “printer manages color” the tif or jpg image comes out in color overlaid with black. (See example - printer1. image on left is close to what it should be). Photoshop has no updates pending. I’ve downloaded the latest Epson driver which was working fine just before the problem occurred

Is your Photoshop CS5 updated to 12.1?
Are you on Yosemite 10.10.1 or Yosemite 10.10.2?
Did you apply the recent Epson software 2.1.9 update?
What type of file is it (file format)?  What bit depth and what color space?

• Transparency in CMYK color mode

Windows XP Pro, Photoshop CS3
It seems  that one can only retain background transparency if image file is saved in PNG or GIF file format. It also seems that one cannot save to these file formats if graphic is in CMYK color mode - one must be in RBG mode to do so. How can I retain image with transparency in CMYK color?

I am starting with a TIF image in RBG color mode, a tree with grass in the background and foreground for example. I would like to eliminate the grass, make that background and foreground transparent with the background eraser tool so that only the tree remains and that when the tree is superimposed on a second image the background and foreground surrounding the tree will be that second image. In order to make the background and foreground of the tree transparent I have to save the file in GIF or PNG format since transparency doesn't seem work with TIF files however I cannot convert the GIF or PNG files from RBG to CMYK. CMYK doesn't seem work with those file types.

• Does Photoshop Elements 12 have a CMYK color mode?

Does Photshop Elements 12 have a CMYK color mode?

Depending on where you bought it you may be able to return it for a full refund within thirty days. Certainly if you got it from Adobe you can return it no reason required (within thirty days).
Not quite sure why you think it is shabby though. Surely you must have realised that there would be differences between a $700 product and a $100 one.

• Is it ok in the long run to placing a RGB photoshop eps file into a Illustrator CS2 CMYK color mode

Is it ok in the long run to placing a RGB photoshop eps file into a Illustrator CS2 CMYK color mode document ?
I am using windows XP with Adobe Creative suite 2.
In both Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2 have the same color settings.
If I take a RGB file that was created in Photoshop CS2 and place this file in a CMYK color mode document in Illustrator CS2, does this cause a problem for the output of the document ?
If you look at the Document Info window you can now see that the RGB file is now a CMYK file. Is this a good working habit ?
Thanks in advance. :)

>Is it ok in the long run to placing a RGB photoshop eps file into a Illustrator CS2 CMYK color mode document ?
Please explain why you would do such a thing? (Why RGB, and why EPS.)
>If I take a RGB file that was created in Photoshop CS2 and place this file in a CMYK color mode document in Illustrator CS2, does this cause a problem for the output of the document ?
Yes.
You are working in CMYK mode presumably because your Illustrator document is destined for output on a PostScript device -- e.g., a printing press. That means that your RGB image will undergo a space conversion somewhere in the process, and the questions are when and how?
The issue is compounded by the fact that Illustrator ignores color profiles embedded in EPS files by Photoshop. (Just another reason not to use EPS.)
By performing the conversion yourself in Photoshop, you take control of the process and ensure predictable color.

• Automatically convert from RGB to CMYK color mode

I have over 900 barcodes provided in EPS format. When I open them in illustrator, they are coming in as an RGB color space file. I need them gray scale solid black in CMYK color mode. I can batch using actions to convert the artwork using "Edit Colors > Convert to Grayscale". However, the document color mode remains RGB. It appears, even after using "Convert to Grayscale", that the RGB color mode goofs up the placed .ai file in InDesign, treating it as RGB and seeing it as a mix of CMYK rather than the 100% black only it needs to be for proper sharp printing.
The actions pallet doesn't record converting the document color mode. Is there a way to automate that file conversion so they are all saved as CMYK rather than RGB, or am I stuck opening each of the 900+ files manually?

While recording the action, from the popup menu in the Actions Panel choose Insert Menu Item, then from the main menu choose File > Document Color Mode > CMYK color.

• Display profiles via a pull down menu from menu bar?

I'm often switching my display profiles on my iBook-- depending on sunlight, lighting conditions, etc.
Is there any software or Apple setting that would give me a pull down menu of my choices from the menu bar?
Right now I have the monitors or whatever it is on my menu bar, but that requires multiple steps-- selecting Displays Preferences, waiting for it to come up, then clicking on the Color Tab, and finally picking one of the display profiles.
I'd much rather have a one-step pull down menu. Anything like that?
Also what does "Recent Items" mean in that menu?

Open the AppleScript Utility in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder and check the box to display the script menu. One of the choices in the script menu under ColorSync will enable you to change your display profile. If you know the names and paths of the profiles, additional scripts can be created that would change it in a single step. The lines of code needed are:
tell application "ColorSyncScripting"
run
set display profile of display 1 to alias "path:to:profile"
quit
end

• Long pull down menu with no vertical scrollbar

Folks,
it's been already 3.5 years ago when we had to learn that there is no way to have a long pull down menu control without a vertical scrollbar. See
http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=217428&query.id=395029#M217428
Now, after we got LabVIEW 8.6.1 there is still no opportunity to suppress the vertical scrollbar though there is a property node "Vertical Scrollbar Visible" for combo boxes. As Smercurio already observed in 2006 with the LV 8.2 combo box, this property node does not have any effect, probably due to a bug. This behaviour is still the same with LV 8.6.1.
Just a few days ago a user of our software complained that items in the menu would be missing. In fact they weren't but rather he oversaw the scrollbar and did not scroll down the column -- that's why he didn't find the menu items. In general it's quite inconvenient if one has to scroll down first before one can select a particular item. In most cases the scrollbar is simply useless since the panel is tall enough to show all menu items at the same time.
How are you designing a long pull down menu on your user interface? Any ideas how to circumvent the nasty scrollbar?
Sorry for the rather lengthy post. I am afraid you had to use the vertical scrollbar while reading through my text...
Thanks for any contribution,
Peter

I think this does what you are asking.  It works for any named numeric control, and I think a little modification will make it work for a combo box too.

• Pull down menu does not work.

Hi.
I'm using Firefox 24.0 under LinuxMint 14.
Sometimes, pull down menu does not work correctly.
When I tap File or Edi or View, Menu blinks instantly.
To resolve, I restart Firefox.
I disabled "Use hardware acceleration when available".

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

• N8 (belle) pull down menu

On my homescreen, since the update to belle, we now have a pull down menu which allows you to switch on or off Mobile Data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or select Silent Mode.
I quite like this feature but want to ask.......can you edit these functions? For example, rather than go from General to Silent, I'd prefer be able to select 'Meeting' rather than "Silent'.
Is there a way I can modify this?
Thanks.

The pull down notification bar is not modifiable, not sure if it will be in future, someone had actually asked for it to be modifiable... This will indeed be a great feature.

• My pull down menues have dissappeared

I logged into firefox today and all of my pull down menues are miss. The only keys available are the back key, reload adn home key

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Hit the Alt key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. <br />
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

• Unstable pull-down menu

With FF 4.11 beta, I press the Feedback button and the pull-down menu won't stay open. It flashes but closes right away. I think it has something to do my display, which is a Vizio HDTV connected to my desktop via HDMI. I am using Windows 7 and the graphic card is ATI Radeon HD 4290.
I experience the same thing when I try to open a folder in the Bookmarks tool bar.
I don't get the same kind of problem with the 2nd display which is Dell 1703FP.
Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
* Troubleshooting extensions and themes
* Troubleshooting plugins
In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

Hey,
You can build your own runtime menu (Edit>runtime menu) and then e.g. only display the application items you want to.

• Firefox 3.6 had a "Bookmark All Tabs" in the Bookmarks Pull down menu. How can I "Bookmark All Tabs" using Firefox 4.0.1

I recently updated to Firefox 4.0.1 from Firefox 3.6. Firefox 3.6 had a "Bookmark All Tabs" in the Bookmarks pull down menu. There isn't a "Bookmark All Tabs" in the Firefox 4.0.1 Bookmarks pull down menu. Has this feature been eliminated from Firefox 4.0.1? If I want to save 24 tabs in one window of Firefox and 14 tabs in another window of Firefox, do I have to save all the tabs individually? How can I set the options, preferences, etc. so that I can "Bookmark All Tabs" at once in a window of Firefox 4.0.1. I am running Firefox 4.0.1 on a desktop computer with Windows7 Professional OS with Firefox as my default browser.

Right click a tab and you will get the option to bookmark all tabs. Or use keyboard Alt + B which opens the old style menu. You can make changes to Firefox, as explained in this post: [/questions/799856#answer-155765]
