Color Calibration for 27 " LED Display

I am shoping for a color calibration system for my 27 inch LED Display.  I was planing on gettinga ColorMunki Photo but I am not certain it will work with a LED backlit display.  What about the Spyder 3 route ?

I got the following response from Datacolor.  So I guess the Spyder is an option.
Dear Thomas,
thank you very much for your message and your faith in Datacolor products.
The Spyder3 (Elite, Pro and Express) is fully compatible with latest display technologies, such as LED-Backlight, Wide-Gammut and screens with a glossy surface.
Best regards,

  • Color Calibrating MacBook + 24" LED Displays

I'm using a Gretag-Macbeth Eye-One Display 2 system to color calibrate my monitors. The question is, when the LED is connected to the MacBook, and I calibrate it, does this affect the calibration of the display on the MacBook itself? After my last calibration, my LED looks fine, but the MacBook's white balance is way too cool. How do you calibrate for one without affecting the other and is there a way to automatically select the color profile depending on which monitor you're using?

There is no issue with it. I have exactly the same set up. You have to close the lid for the graphic card to display at 1920 by 1200. But I have a wireless keyboard and trackpad so I woke the computer up with it and the computer is running with the external display running at 1920 by 1200.

  • Volume controls stopped working properly for my LED Display

The volume controls stopped working properly for my LED Display (Mac Pro OS-X 10.6.8).  The sliders go up and down, and the clicks are audible, but the sound levels remain the same.  The internal speaker sound settings/controls are working properly.  I tried restarting to no avail.

  • Is the warranty for 27" LED display worldwide/international?

Is the warranty for 27" LED display worldwide/international?
I'm going to by display for my MBP in USA, while living in Ukraine and using it in Ukraine most of the time? Does the warranty cover issues in my country?

will apple Malaysia replace a refurbished macbook under warranty bought in Australia?
You need confirmation directly from Apple about your concerns.  Call the tech support center that handles your country Malaysia if there is none in Malaysia.

  • Color Calibration for Samsung T220?

    Hi,
I recently bought a Samsung T220 to connect to my MacBook using the Displayport to DVI adapter, but I'm having hard time calibrating its color -- it always looks over saturated. The best profile I tried so far is the default profile for the laptop LCD, but it still looks over saturated.
Is there a way to fine tune the profile? When I went to the color calibration wizard, the screen seems to change to use another profile.
Also in the color calibration wizard, what's the exactly meaning of the word "neutral"?
or, better yet, does anybody have the ColocSync profile for this monitor?
    Thanks.

  • Best color settings for LG led monitor?

    Hi,
I am using my macbook in clamshell mode with my LG 22 inch E2260 LED monitor over DVI and today I learnt that the factory settings for the monitor are not optimum for use with my macbook. perhaps they must have been set for pcs. there was a pink hue in the display. at the moment i'm using these settings...
    color temp: sRGB
    brightness 100
    contrast 70 (grayed out)
    sharpness 5
    black level low (grayed out)
can u tell me which is the best setting.
in Lion it has been set to automatically choose the color profile for my monitor.

please advice. I dont want to end up hurting my eye.
    Thanks,

  • Calibration tool for 24" LED Display

Greetings, I'm currently using the 24" display with my MacBook Pro and am looking for calibration tool recommendations. I went to the Apple store and they sold me the Huey Pro from Pantone. I haven't opened it yet as I saw it had mixed reviews. It also says it's for CRT's and LCD's. Has anyone tried it on the 24" LED monitor? Successes/failures appreciated.
    Thanks.

Brightness and Contrast settings are both dictated by ambient light in the room. There is no set point, and so day and night modes are used for this reason. For this properly setup, you need to use a test pattern which shows the greyscale detail and increments from black to white. Typically "pluge" or blinking patterns are used as well.
After setting those up, you DO NOT want ambient light present when using your meter. Meter's don't have peripheral vision like we do to compensate for room lighting tones... therefore, either work in the dark, or drape something over the sensor & screen.
Here is a free download to get some patterns:

    Good luck.

  • Color calibrating 27 inch iMac display

    A few months, ago I purchased a used 2009 27 inch iMac.
After a lengthy move and recnt medical isues, I am back t work doing some design work.
I need to color calibrate my this iMAc 27 inch screen and use Monaco Easy Color with screen colorimeter.
I used this on my old G4 system that used a matte screen instead of a glossy screen like on this iMac.
I need to know what lighting conditions and how to setup my iMac's screen to use/setup to get the colorimeter device and software to accurately color calibrate my iMac's screen.
I am do my design work using Adobe CS3, Painter 11, Blender and to do some technical drawing work using a CAD program for the Mac.
I am, preferably, looking for answers from people experienced with using monitor calibration software and specifically using the Monaco Optix hardware and software to create a profile.
Help is greatly apprecated and any useful links helpful.
Thanks to everyone who responds in advance.

I just bought a 27 inch Imac a few hours ago.
If it were me, for a brand new hours-old machine, I would demand (not ask) for a replacment (not fixed) from wherever you bought it from.  For the prices of these things I wouldn't tolerate that.
In the meantime try smc and pram reset and see what happens.

  • Adjust the color calibration for your camera

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS939594D8-4279-41b4-B8E9-B06BC919EC7C.html

The Camera-centric profiles for Canon, Nikon and some Pentax cameras are Adobe’s attempt to mimic the similarly-named in-camera color modes, but they are only approximate so aren’t some magic bullet to make your photos look like the camera-JPGs.
Creating one or more custom profiles for your camera is relatively simple, although you’ll need to invest in a standardized color checker calibration target.
I use the Color Checker Passport from X-rite, which comes with its own software and LR plug-in to create camera profiles, and then Adobe’s DNG Profile Editor also uses photos of a CC to create camera profiles.  The profiles from each are a little different so it doesn’t hurt to make some from both products to see if one renders better in a particular situation.  You can make one for various lighting situations, even ones that aren’t covered by Adobe-supplied profiles, such as lighting that has a large positive or negative Tint value like Fluorescent and arena lighting.

  • Need help choosing a hardware color calibrator

I'm in the market for a hardware color calibrator for my Cinema display and MBP. These are the ones I'm looking at. Spyder3 Pro, EyeOne LT and Huey Pro.
Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.
    thx
    lenn

Over in another forum (can't remember which) a color expert was saying that if you want to be able to accurately calibrate an LED-backlit display, make sure you get a calibrator that's a spectrophotometer like the ColorMunki, instead of the colorimeter that's inside most inexpensive calibrators.
    Oh, I found it

  • Color Controls for Calibration?

Is there any way to access color controls so that I may calibrate my 23" CD with a Colorvision Spyder and PhotoCal software? The Apple calibration routine is pretty vague, and I need the CD to match a calibrated CRT sitting next to it. Thanks.

"...if some software can adjust the colors, why can't I?"
You can if you want to run the Apple color calibration tool (Sys Prefs / Displays / Color / Calibrate). But if you want to use the Spyder, you have to use the Spyder software which is designed to work with the device.

  • Recommended color calibrator/monitor calibration tool?

    Hi all,
It is a few years since I have purchased a color calibrator for my monitor and need to purchase a new one now at the new company I am at. It will be for my 30" Apple Cinema Display. As usual, I always come straight to these forums for your advice FIRST before making my selection.
In the past I have used both GretagMacbeth's Eye-One Display and the Pantone Huey. I have not tried the Colorvision Spyder.
Of course, these have each changed and been improved since I last worked with them, so can you make some recommendations as to which you feel may work best for you, and can thus recommend to me?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
    Best regards,
    Christine

ColorMunki has been getting lots of press.
This guy has a pretty good movie/review:

Profiles your printer as well as the monitor... Google it, lots of reviews.

  • Using the LED display as a heater!

    Hello,
I'm living in a student dorm in UK and it's pretty cold in the night.
My central heater is not always turning on and I always have a trouble complaining to the accommodation office.
Now I have a 24" LED cinema display and my problem is gone. I can feel strong background heat in my room after having the display turned on about 1 hour.
So it's a buy-1-get-1-free: Display and a room heater in one prize. Cool, isn't it? (Well, I mean, hot...)
Back to serious thing. I would like to know if it is a normal for a LED display. Since I never had a display before, only had a laptop.
I touched everywhere of the screen, back and front, and feel the same heat dispersed all over its body. There is especially heat coming out from the bottom mesh, where I always put a cup of tea there and keep it warm.
Overall, no problem for me, but I don't know if it will cause any damage to the display in the long run. I have no AppleCare for this display because I did not purchase the same time as my laptop, and purchase a new protection plan is expensive though.

Mine gets very warm also. Remember the power source is now inside of the display. Its vented at the bottom, and helps to keep my hands warm while typing. But its perfectly normal. If you check the LED displays at the Apple stores, they too generate a lot of heat. Even my 40" Sony XBR LCD TV gets warm, so I think that is normal.

  • MacBook Pro 15" LED display

    Hi
I am wondering if the problem of flickering displays will ever be properly eliminated by future updates by apple.
I already returned my first LED MacBoo Pro for the yellow screen tint, and have a new one wich tends to flicker on the uper third of the display even after all the software and firmware updates.
Is this a long-term problem, or do I just hope that the right update will come soon?
    Thanks
    Martin

You can buy a VESA Mount Adapter Kit for 24" LED Display and then connect an Ergotron MX Desk Mount to the display so then you can have a display that is able to move freely above your desk, and essentially have your Macbook Pro beneath it. This is the set up I plan to have for my dorm desk in a few weeks.
