Color management help needed for adobe CS5 and Epson printer 1400-Prints coming out too dark with reddish cast and loss of detail
System: Windows 7
Adobe CS5
Printer: Epson Stylus Photo 1400
Paper: Inkjet matte presentation paper with slight luster
Installed latest patch for Adobe CS5
Epson driver up to date
After reading solutions online and trying them for my settings for 2 days I am still unable to print what I am seeing on my screen in Adobe CS5. I calibrated my monitor, but am not sure once calibration is saved if I somehow use this setting in Photoshop’s color management.
The files I am printing are photographs of dogs with lots of detail I digitally painted with my Wacom tablet in Photoshop CS5 and then printed with Epson Stylus 1400 on inkjet paper 20lb with slight luster.
My Printed images lose a lot of the detail & come out way to dark with a reddish cast and loss of detail when I used these settings in the printing window:
Color Handling: Photoshop manages color, Color management -ICM, OFF no color adjustment.
When I change to these settings in printer window: Color Handling: Printer manages color. Color management- Color Controls, 1.8 Gamma and choose Epson Standard it prints lighter, but with reddish cast and very little detail and this is the best setting I have used so far.
Based on what I have read on line, I think the issue is mainly to do with what controls are set in the Photoshop Color Settings window and the Epson Printer preferences. I have screen images attached of these windows and would appreciate knowing what you recommend I enter for each choice.
Also I am confused as to what ICM color management system to use with this printer and CS5:
What is the best ICM to use with PS CS5 & the Epson 1400 printer? Should I use the same ICM for both?
Do I embed the ICM I choose into the new files I create?
Do I view all files in the CS5 workspace in this default ICM?
Do I set my monitor setting to the same ICM?
If new file opens in CS5 workspace and it has a different embedded profile than my workspace, do I convert it?
Do I set my printer, Monitor and PS CS5 color settings to the same ICM?
Is using the same ICM for all devices what is called a consistent workflow?
I appreciate any and all advice that can be sent my way on this complicated issue. Thank you in advance for your time and kind help.

Help needed for Adobe photoshop elements 3.0

My problem has been bothing me for a few years now, but because i was able to still use windows 2000 until a few weeks ago, it never occured to me to find a solution for this.
My problem is Adobe photoshop 3.0 in general.
After vista, and now windows 7, i have not been able to properly display my art program, and being that i draw... a lot... with a tablet, and not having it work on me, drives me mad.
i can open the program just fine, the problem occures when i try to draw with my tablet or even the normal mouse.

I've tried the update for this version on this site, but seconds after it starts installing the program shuts down saying I can't download it.
I've also tried for a few days now to find a solution to this but was never able to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and i would seriously love you x.x

You can't download the patch because it only works with version Elements 5. The patch updates Elements 5 to make it Vista compatible. Sadly, Adobe didn't provide patches for the older versions just the one that was current when Vista came out.
The phantom grid is one of the compatibility issues that some with Elements 4 and under have with Vista.
Just so you know you aren't the only person who's see that display issue. Here's a thread over on Elements Village with a screen capture of phantom grid by another user...

Things that might help...
If you haven't already, set up PSE 3 up to run in Windows XP service pack 2 compatibility mode.
Check and make sure your video card's driver is up to date.

Printing problems with CS5 and Epson Photo R2880 printer

I'm having problems getting good prints when using Photoshop CS5 with my Epson Photo R2880 printer, problems I never had with CS4. Here's the situation:
If I take a PSD file and print it using CS4, everything works out perfectly. But if I take that same PSD file and print it out using CS5, the print is now offset top to bottom, as well as left to right, along with a 1/8" black strip being printed down the right edge of the paper. As far as I can tell, everything is set the same.
I've compared all the print information found in the Print dialog summary box between CS4 and CS5 and everything appears to be the same. I've verified that I'm using the latest print driver with my printer, and I am. It's 8.27. I've verified that I've checked off the box to center the print to the paper, each time I've made a print. And in trying to figure out what's going on, I've discovered that this problem occurs with any paper size when using CS5, but not with CS4.
I'm stumped and frustrated and without any more ideas as to what I should do next, except to always print my projects using CS4. If anyone has an idea for me, please let me know! Thanks!
P.s. I'm new at using this forum, and though I thought I sent this out once already, I never saw it posted. If I'm in error and it's already out there, sorry for the mistake and posting it twice.

Getting very nice results with an R1800, Inkjetfly CIS, and Red River paper. The R1800 has never had Epson ink run through it and has no abnormal clogging problems. In fact, clogs are rare.
Getting near perfect matches to the monitor with both Colorvision and x-rite calibrating/profiling equipment. The printer stays on 24-7 so the only ink used, other than printing, is a periodic nozzle check. I am not alone in this, so blanket statements like the above are specious at best.
And no, I don't sell prints for big bux, so whether they are going to last a hundred years is not a concern. Besides, until someone is around long enough to verify those claims, the jury is out. I've got color prints from the wet days that are fading after 20+ years. Third party inks are not necessarily lower quality than OEM. One of the reasons for the development of high quality third party inks was the dissatisfaction of B&W and fine art printers with the OEM products.
Of course the cheap refilled/knockoff carts being hawked on ebay and the like are a different story.

Have Apple 5... Suddenly photos are coming out too dark and poor color....any ideas as to problem

Did you alrready try the general troubleshooting?
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

10.5 with Adobe CS2 and epson 1280 - no printer dialogue box

I have recently upgraded from Tiger to Leopard and now when I run Photoshop CS2 and try to print on the Epson 1280, there is no choice for paper quality and other settings. It just prints and it is just awful.
I have the latest drivers installer (CUP and Guten).
I also have CS3 put that wouldn't work with any Epson printer and had to de-install it (year ago).

In photoshop, the triangle jut opened up the main parameters box. In there is a 'printer features' button this is where the media selection is. They changed the tags. Thanks for the help.

CS5 and Epson 3800. Prints Too Dark.

I've seen old posts about this, but nothing recent with this configuration of software and OS:
After years of printing successfully with my Epson 3800 from a PC, I recently switched to a Mac (Mac OS X 10.6). I am using Photoshop CS 5.
Despite many iterations of monitor calibration trying different settings, my prints are consistently about 2 stops too dark. I'm very vexed.
What is the latest information about this and how do I resolve this?

Prints coming out too dark: need calibration workflow?

Yes, my monitor is an LCD and it is bright. It is not a proofing monitor. It was calibrated. I've been printing B&W from LR on an Epson printer (r1900 & r2400). I know proper color management. Turn off Epson Color Management, let LR manage color with the correct icc profile
Obviously I can do trial and error, brightening the photo until it looks correct.
My thought is, is there a way I could print on one page Thumbnails or like in the film days strips with different "exposures." Then with one print I could pick how much of an adjustment is needed?
Any thoughts how this can be accomplished?
Any plug-ins?

It was automated. So I don't know what tweaks it did. My colors are accurate.
It's been awhile. You run the software and it generates the icc profile. I see it load on each start-up. It was the version before Color Monkey. I don't have a highend monitor.

I just updated my iPad and for some reason I can't paste anything onto some websites on Safari now. Sometimes the keyboard doesn't type anything either and I have to refresh it. Anyone know how to fix it or what's the problem?

So there is a Rafflecopter giveaway on a website. I copy the link to my tweet on Twitter and try to paste it in the entry box. Nothing happens. These would be my suggestions:
Create a new user account with administrative rights, log out of your current account and into that one, launch Adobe Application Manager and attempt the Photoshop update again.

If this fails, uninstall Photoshop (Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers) and reinstall Photoshop then from Adobe Application Manager the attempt the Photoshop update again, also from the newly created user account.

The Acrobat Family uses TCP HTTP/HTTPS for all traffic. The following processes and ports may be active on a Windows client machine:
AdobeARM.exe - automatic updates - port 443
AcroRd32.exe - brand messages - port 443
AcroRd32.exe - links in documents - anything specified in the URL
Acrobat.exe - brand messages - port 443

The same ports are used by the program components on OS X.

Color Management Trouble! HP, Lion, CS5 ***!

I've spent the last 6 hours on and off the phone with HP tech support, which is blaming Mac OS Lion and Adobe Creative Suite 5 for the crappy color management that I'm getting out of a new HP Laserjet CP5225.
Can anyone give me some tips to improve my color output?
I can print the same color to a Canon Pixma Pro, a small cheap Epson RGB printer, and an HP Indigo Digital Press, but it comes out too dark and lacking yellow in the mix via printing on the mac.
I have had more problems with color management in my Macs than I had in 15 years of owning PCs. I figure that the solution is probably more complex, with the driver, the Color Sync "utility," and Adobe all getting in the mix to screw up the reliable output of color.
Any tips would be very much appreciated.
HP suggests that I give up the idea of being able to print in CMYK and just try to convert and print everything using an RGB color profile.

Colour management help needed?!

I'll soon be getting some of my images made into a photography book by a large and reputable printing company. They have just sent me their ICC profiles for me to use when I edit the photos for the book.
What exactly do I need to do in order to make what I see on the screen identical (or very close to) what my printed books will look like? I will be provided with proofs before the books are printed but would like to get colour management right the first time around.
I edit my images using Photoshop CS5, mainly in camera raw.
If anyone could provide me with the steps required it would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I recently got given a spyder calibration device but have never used it, don't know if this needs to be involved in the colour management process somehow?

How did they describe the profiles given to you? What are their names?
This is not really a subject someone can just lay out for you in a forum post. It's complicated to get things set up right, and the choices you need to make during setup require both understanding of the concepts AND of your needs. There are few cases where without knowing your needs someone could just say "the right way to set it is this". You need to go seek out all the information you can find about color management and read it, then come to a place like this with specific questions. There are quite a few overviews online, but understand this while you're reading: Not everyone who writes on the web really understands it either, so you'll have to keep in mind that some of the info you find is going to be just plain wrong, even though it sounds right.

Inevitably the schedule will get crunched, and they'll suggest that the physical proof review can be skipped.
ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH SKIPPING THE PROOF REVIEW.
In a recent book of astrophotography I did the printing came out too dark, because for all my color management knowledge and proper setup, someone without the proper knowledge at the printing contractor didn't handle the files properly, and because of the editor's stupidity they both caused the schedule to slip and requested that we make up time by skipping the paper review - and like an idiot I let them. As a result the images are just interesting rather than spectacular, and book sales suffered.
