Color mismatch Windows 8.1 and Acrobat X and XI Pro

I am creating a PDF from Excel 2013 using both Acrobat X and Acrobat XI on my ASUS laptop running Windows 8.1.  Text that is blue in Excel 2013 looks purple both in the PDF and when viewing the uploaded PDF in Internet Explorer.  The text in the PDF looks blue when viewed on other systems running Windows 7, Office 2010 or 2013 and Acrobat X.  On the Windows 8.1 laptop, the colors in the same uploaded PDF also look correct when viewed using Google Chrome.  There appears to be a compatability/color issue with WIndows 8.1 and Acrobat X and XI.  Anyone else run into a similar issue?

  • Rotated and Shrunk Printing with Win7x64 Ultimate and Acrobat 9.4.4 Pro Extended

I am running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, and Acrobat 9.4.4 Pro Extended and have been experiencing problems getting my pdf files to print properly.  For some reason all PDF's printed rotate from normal oreintation and print on only 1/2 of the page, as if I was attempting to print a bi-fold book (the printed page is always follwed by a blank page).  This occurs with a Xerox 6350DP PS and a Xerox 4500DT PS (both of which are Windows 7 64-bit certified and approved.  Latest drivers are installed).  I've checked settings and can't find anything that makes any difference.  Prints correctly on an old HP Laserjet 1320.
Other programs (MS-Office 2007) have no issue with any of the printers.
    Any help would be appreciated...

  • Adobe pdf files won't open while I'm online in FireFox even though I can download pdf files and then open them. It all freezes and tells me to check regedit. I have FireFox 5 and Acrobat 8, and I haven't found regedit, let alone know what to do with it..

If I click to open a pdf file when online with Firefox, the screen freezes and it tells me that the registry isn't updated and I should try regedit. About a month ago I had to wipe my computer clean and start all over again because of a virus that couldn't be cleaned out. I've since downloaded all necessary programs, Acrobat 8 one of them, but this message only appeared yesterday. Not sure why it worked up until now if it's the registry. But I don't know how to update it with regedit.

You need to get rid of all those duplicate files. Put these in the Trash:
    Adobe Reader 7.07 (all copies)
    AdbeRdr708enUS.dmg
This should leave you with one copy of Adobe Reader 7.08 in your Applications folder, with the correct Adobe icon.
Now run Disk Utility and choose Repair Permissions. When it's done, try double-clicking on the Adobe Reader icon and see if it starts normally. If not, make a note as to any error messages or unusual behavior and post again.

  • Plugin created using C++ 6 and Acrobat 6 SDK Not Working in Windows

I have an Acrobat plugin compiled in Visual C++ 6 using Acrobat 6 SDK. The plugin works flawlessly in Acrobat versions 6 to 9 in Windows XP. While the plugin is able to add a menu iterm and tool bar icon in Windows 7, it causes Acrobat to hang everytime when activated in which event I have to close Acrobat. Since Visual C++ 6 is a 32 bit app, I have to believe that Acrobat 6 SDK is responsible for the behavior described herein in attempting to get the plugin to work in Windows 7. Any comments or suggestions regarding what Visual C++ version to use along with the appropriate Acrobat SDK to get the plugin to work in Windows 7 are appreciated. In doing so, I would also be interested in knowing what backward compatibility one may expect w/regard to previous versions of Acrobat in updating the plugin to work in Windows 7. As for the answer, correct me if I am wrong but I'm thinking Acrobat 9.

Adobe hasn't supported Acrobat 6, VC6 or the Acrobat 6 SDK for at least 5 years.  You will need to move to the Acrobat 9 SDK if you wish support.
And Acrobat 9 and its SDK are fine with Windows 7.

  • Acrobat X and Word 2010 missing text

Has anyone found a solution yet to dropping text box text when converting a Word 2010 document via the PDF print driver? There are various posts on this topic but no real solution. Most resolve by using the "Save as Adobe PDF", which works but doesn't solve the actual problem. I have a specific document that we use extensively as a template to create other documents and the text in one text box is consistently clipped off when printing to PDF.
These are controlled documents done in Word that are kept in a limited access vault and need to be approved. Once approved, I create a PDF and put it in a public location. If I use the Save As option it works fine, except that it has to save the Word document before creating the PDF (why....? I haven't touched it...?). Since I'm working in the vault, the file is Read Only, so I have to browse out to another location, save it and then create the PDF. I get a lot of these and that's a very time consuming side trip, not to mention the extra file management of having to clean up all those files I needlessly created.
I've tried changing font to Arial, as well as making sure the background is set to No Color. No luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I had no problems using my Vista machine with Office 2007 and Acrobat 9. They upgraded me to a new machine with Win7, Office 2010 and Acrobat X and all those great improvements seem to have left me less functional.

    Thanks, Bill!
Coincidentally, I had an AA update come in this morning. I checked Word (yes, it's 32-bit) and downloaded a couple of updates that were waiting (.NET security issues, not sure they're related?). But after the reboot I tried creating a PDF with the Press settings and everything was there. Better yet, I tried again with the standard settings and everything looks good! I verified by converting two or three other documents and everything's fine.
I thought I was stayingup to date but the latest updates seemed to do it! Thanks for the help!

  • Problem printing fra Acrobat 8 and Indesign CS3

    Hi Forum
My setup is a Powermac G5 with 10.5.8 and a Epson 1400 and a Epson c8500. I have checked, that I'm using the latest drivers from Epson.
My problem is then I print A4 PDF documents to these two printers, the prints will be cropped, it actually seem like the top and bottom margins of the printable area are wrong. Scaling is set to none and I have also tried printing as an image.
I have tried using Acrobat 8, Adobe Reader 9 and Indesign CS3, also behave the same.
If I use Preview, my prints will look just fine.
I tried the same from a Macbook pro with 10.5.8 and Acrobat 8 and 9, and from this computer things work correctly.
So it's seems to be a problem with an Adobe related file or setting.
    anybody seen this before?
    kind regards
    Lars

Our office is printing fine from ID & PS CS3. This is from Intel & PPC Mac's running 10.4.9.
What is your printer and how is it configured for printing, ie USB or IP.
Also, have a look at the cups error log. You can find this via System Profiler > Software > Logs. This will show which process is failing for the spooled job. You can post it back here for more help.

  • Status check: Shall I install my FrameMaker and Acrobat 8 updgrades or not?

    Hi:
I recently purchased the FrameMaker 8 and Acrobat 8 upgrades. I received them more than a month ago but have yet to open the boxes.
That's primarily because (1) I have a very solid, reliable, trustworthy tools set in the form of FrameMaker 7.0 and Acrobat 5, and (2) I keep reading and hearing about a variety of annoying "gotcha" problems with either or both of the version 8 tools.
Secondarily, it's because I'm not aware of any "must have" features in the version 8 tools.
So, for those who have upgraded I have a question: Knowing now what you do about the performance of the version 8 products, do you recommend that I take a deep breath and install the upgrades or shall I continue to postpone the possibly disruptive upgrade 'til the products become a bit more trustworthy?
Cheers & thanks (and have a GREAT weekend),
    Riley

There have been patches released for both Acrobat 8 and FM 8. So after your install, you'll still need to download and install those.
I personally didn't have any problems with either version on 8-10 systems, but the patches have greatly improved the stability.
You can leave FM 7 in place, but only one version of Acrobat can be on the system.
    I'd go for it.

  • Why don't AutoCAD drawings converted by Acrobat 9.1.2 Pro print?

I have been using Adobe Acrobat 6.01 Professional to make PDF files from my AutoCAD 2002 drawings. I email these PDF files to a client who prints them. My drawings are 2D with a 24 x 36 inch sheet size. The Adobe conversion buttons were automatically installed on my AutoCAD 2002 toolbar when installed Acrobat 6.01 Pro. When I would make a PDF file I went to the layout view of the drawing, and click the button “Convert to Adobe PDF”. Everything worked GREAT. I would email the PDF drawing files to the client, and they sent them to the printer and produced their hard copy drawings.
A few months ago I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium. After installing this suite my Acrobat 6.01 Pro was replaced by Acrobat 9.1 Pro, and the Adobe conversion buttons were removed from my AutoCAD 2002 toolbar. I now have to either try to create the PDF files from within Acrobat 9.1 Pro, or from within AutoCAD by selecting Adobe PDF as my plot device and plotting them. A PDF file is created with either method which can be opened and viewed as a normal, but neither will print on my client’s printer. When sent to the printer they get a “parsing error.” Also these PDF files are about half the megs of those created by using the conversion buttons on the AutoCAD toolbar for Acrobat 6.01 Pro.
I have up dated Acrobat 9.1 Pro to Acrobat 9.1.2 Pro, and do like the many new features. I set up the recourse path for the text, plot, and styles in Acrobat 9.1.2 Pro. Nothing I tried fixed the problem, so I uninstalled Acrobat 9.1.2 Pro and reinstalled Acrobat 6.01 Pro. Everything is back to normal, and the Adobe conversion buttons are back on my AutoCAD 2002 toolbar?
I would like to be able to use Acrobat 9.1.2 Pro because of its new features, but Acrobat 6.01 Pro and Acrobat 9.1.2 Pro can’t exist on my computer at the same time. Is there a fix for Acrobat 9.1.2 Pro? Is there a way to get the Adobe conversion buttons back on my AutoCAD 2002 toolbar? What am I doing wrong? I’m running Windows XP and have read about Acrobat 9 Pro includes a Windows-only PDFMaker for AutoCAD. Supposedly PDFMaker runs inside of AutoCAD, but will it run inside of AutoCAD 2002? Is PDFMaker inside of folder with Acrobat 9.1.2 Pro? HELP.

Over the weekend I wiped my hard drive and did a total clean instal of Leopard (not Snow Leopard) - total clean meaning I had to find all my serial numbers when reinstalling apps. A lot of work.
The problems with InDesign have cleared up, but my Acrobat problem remains. However, I have isolated the problem: it occurs after I have done an "Examine document..." and removed all metadata and other stuff, then resaved the file. I close the saved file and the file closes leaving an empty window (same as a Microsoft Windows window). The little clock mouse icon spins wildly around (forever), I tell Acrobat to either close this window or quit, and it crashes.
Acrobat closes other "unexamined" documents without any problems and thus I have been able to save my toolbars...
Anyone else have this crashing problem? Does anyone have a solution?
Note: if anyone else does a total reinstal of Leopard from Snow Leopard then export your iCal calendars first. They were the only things I lost and this loss was (fortunately) no big deal as they were backed up elsewhere in Leopard.

  • Color mismatch between CS4 and Canon PIXMA PRO6500

Hi there! I am trying to research if anyone else is having a problem with color mismatch between CS4 and their printer. Last night I printed a .tiff image out of CS4 to my Canon PRO6500 printer and the sky came out purple / pink! It was supposed to be a stormy grey color. I have the color management turned off on the printer settings. I have CS4 manages color turned on and the correct ICC profile selected for the paper I am using. When I do a soft proof in CS4 the image looks fine, but when I print I get something completely different, mostly with the sky (purple / pink) color! Just for the heck of it I did a Print Preview under my Page Setup and guess what, the sky actually shows purple / pink! So I have no idea what's going on. I checked all my setting, ink cartridges, tried different paper with the appropriate ICC profile and no dice. Still have a goofy looking sky! I thought PROOFING the image is supposed to show you how the printed image is going to look? apparently it doesn't because it's not. The Print Preview has an accurate representation of the print but I have no idea where the pink / purple sky is coming from. They are supposed to be stormy clouds as I said. I appreciate any help anyone can provide .

I have the color management turned off on the printer settings.
But do you have a measured color profile based on a sample print? Most likely not, so this is not doing anything in your favor. The current profile may present the defaults for a given printer, but not the actual density based on your other printer settings. So by all means, unless you can be sure to obey a full calibration throughout, turn on the printer CM. Also, since it is a Pro model, you may actualyl have to use the dedicated RIP software that was bundled with it to get correct results, not the default windows print engine.

  • PDFs look different in Adobe reader and Acrobat professional compared to the built in PDF viewer on windows 8

    Hi there,
I have been trying to narrow down an issue we have been having for some time in printing PDF files and finding that they look different on paper compared to screen.  Up until today our big KIP plotter got the blame, but as I have been collecting notes on a little windows 8 tablet I noted that PDFs opened in the windows PDF viewer have the same visual defects as the printouts.  My example today is that on a CAD drawing there is a small box/frame with a number in their, I tried printing and the frame was completely blacked out.  As a test I tried saving the PDF as a TIFF file from Adobe Acrobat professional and this file had the same fault as the printed copy.  When I open it in the windows 8 pdf viewer I can see that there is a shading within this box that does not show on Adobe Reader (latest version 11.0.10.32), the adobe reader and acrobat pro version both show a white background to the box.  We have been having lots of issues with sections being missing from drawings and overly feint lines.
I am not sure where to start trying to narrow down why we are getting different results in different PDF readers.  Is there anyone who maybe able to point me in the right direction?  It almost feels like the shading or colour density is not being consistent when PDFs are being opened in different packages.
    Thanks in advance
    Andy

Some PDF viewers comply with the PDF ISO Standard (ISO 32000) "just enough" while others (such as Adobe's) fully comply.
As with anything there's a cost to using anything that comes from a "just enough" approach.
    Be well...

  • "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser" error in Windows 7 and Acrobat pro 8.1.7

I get the error "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser.  Reader will now exit.  Please exit your browser and try again" in Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with Acrobat pro 8.1.7.  This happens when trying to open  a PDF file in Internet explorer 8.0.760 or when I open a PDF in Quickbooks 2008.  If I answer ok or cancel the file opens normally.  If I open acrobat 8 first then the pdf files open as expected.  I also tried a copy of Acrobat reader with no difference in the outcome.  Since this happens on two different computers one fresh copy of windows 7 x64 the other an upgrade to windows 7 x32 and they used to work before the change to windows 7, I assume there is some kind of incompatibility with windows 7 and acrobat.  Is this a known issue and will it be fixed in an update to acrobat in the near future?

tvandersluijs - I'm sorry if that screwed up your machine however:
    1. What version of Adobe Reader are you using because as you can see the registry entry is for Adobe Reader 9, if ur using Adobe Reader 8 then u need to specify ur version as PAllens entry suggested - "E.g. "C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat [version]\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""
    2. I've used this solution significantly because I have come across this specific issue for multiple users.
    3. All the registry entry does is tell Windows what program to use by default to open/view PDF documents.
My intention wasn't to screw up ur machine or anybody elses as I said I've used this solution many times however what I've should gave is the disclaimer to backup ur registry before u make mods so u can revert back in case. Also the ony other thing I can think of is that this solution was for Windows XP using registry editior 5, I'm noticing that the title of this thread is Windows 7.

  • Windows 7 and Acrobat 9 Pro (CS4)

Oh please, oh please won't someone help me.  Someone else HAS to have run into this.
I install CS4 and enter serial number on a Windows 7 RTM machine (64-bit).  It tells me I'm activated.  And I can use all the products just fine - except Acrobat.  As most of you know - CS4 without Acrobat is a little like buying a car without a steering wheel.  At some point, you're going to need it.
When I run acrobat, I get this: "Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a suite. To enable Adobe Acrobat, please start another component of this suite (such as Adobe Photoshop)."
    So, here's what I've done:
    1) Deactivate, uninstall, reinstall, activate.  No go.
    2) Deactivate, uninstall.  Install just Photoshop CS4 and Acrobat.  Run Acrobat and I get the message, so I run Photoshop and it activates and then I run Acrobat again.  Same message.
    3) Referred to article at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407134.html - but the file versions I have on Win 7 are higher than the ones specified in the article.
    4) Called phone support.  No help there - "Uninstall and re-install and you should be good."
No matter how many times I uninstall/reinstall or what order I do it in, I get this error on all of our Win 7 machines (3 of them).  And the best part?  Each install takes about 45 minutes or longer.
Please don't tell me that Windows 7 isn't supported yet.  Release date to full market is scheduled for October 22nd so if someone doesn't fix this issue they're going to have a LOT of support calls on their hands.
I understand Adobe does this to limit piracy of their software.  But at this point, they've basically rendered $1,000's of spending for our organization completely useless as we need to be able to produce PDFs of our work from CS4.
    Help?
    Thanks,
    Mark Gerlach

  • Windows 7 and Acrobat 8 printing problems

I recently installed Windows 7 as my operating system and when I try to print an image I dont get an image from the printer, just some unconnected marks.  Once I was able to find a setting in acrobat that read "not to print pictures as text" but am unable to find it again.  Adobe support blew me off so I need to try this avenue.  Don't think I will go with Adobe again.  Any body know where this setting is?

Acrobat 8 does not work under Windows 7. You need to install either Acrobat 9 with all updates or Acrobat X.
