Color Picker appears when quitting Premiere Pro CC

Anyone else having this issue...
Sometimes when I quit out of Adobe Premiere Pro CC, the Color Picker appears.  After I close the Color Picker, Premiere quits as normal, but sometimes I have to close the Color Picker 3 times before it goes away.
It doesn't always do it and I can't figure out what triggers it (besides quitting Premiere).
I'm running it on Windows 8.  Premiere Pro CC v7.0.1 (105).  I only started noticing it in this most recent update of Premiere Pro CC.
Thanks,

This bug landed on my plate recently for investigation, and today I managed to nail down one simple repro case: In AE, copy one or more Solids or Adjustment Layers to the clipboard (or a comp containing solids/AdjLayers), then right-click in PPro's Project panel, Timeline, or Effect Controls panel. I get one instance of the color picker for each solid copied to the clipboard.
A workaround for this repro case is to copy anything other than a solid or adjustment layer to the clipboard before right-clicking in PPRO.
Edited to add: I encounter the Color Picker only the first time I right-click in PPro after setting focus on the app. Also, once an AE Solid or AdjLayer is on the clipboard, this bug can be reproed each time PPro regains focus, regardless of which app had focus last.
If the Color Picker is popping up for you in cases that do not fit the scenario I've described, please send me a private message; I'll want to follow up to isolate your case.

  • Help with exporting. Video looks horrible after export, but great when in premiere pro

Hey guys, looking for some advice on exporting.
When I finish a video, the color and everything looks great while in premiere pro, but after exporting it, the color ends up looking dull and the whole video looks blurry.  I'm filming with a canon vixia hf200 at 60i. It imports as a AVCHD file, I deinterlace it, and then export at the Vimeo HD settings. What can be causing the video to look horrible after exporting? What settings should I be exporting under? Any help would be appreciated!

It looks like you're coming up against some of the colorspace handling issues that the Premiere pipeline has.
Since your source is 60i AVCHD it's HD and thus rec709 colorspace. If it gets encoded with the standard rec601 colorspace (SD sizes are this) then all the colors get crushed. Look for a "709" and "601" radio button in your export settings. If it's not there you're out of luck.
The "blurry" is probably a poor quality de-interlacer. If Vimeo permits interlaced vs progressive do that instead. it's always cleaner to stay in the same video format all the way through.
    TECHNICAL ASIDE:
rec709 is a triangle of possible colors that can be expressed by mixing of ratios of 3 emitters (the R G B corners of the triangle). (they are the RGB phosphors of a CRT and now LCD pixel elements)
rec709 is a bigger triangle than rec601 so it's capable of more colors. but if you accidently map that triangle's corners to the coordinates of rec601 it gets crushed.
In photography the "sRGB" uses the rec709 triangle. A bigger triangle that that is "Adobe RGB". So if you work in Adobe RGB and export to sRGB without conversion the colors get crushed because sRGB in inside the triangle of "Adobe RGB".

    Ricky,
simply find your work folder and save everything in safe place.
If you have not changed any setting, it should be in user\your name.
About uninstall, just launch it like you'd want to remove everything, then, when the program will ask you which application had to be removed,
just sign premiere, mediaencore and company.
Unfortunately for you, I'm quite agree with Harm.

  • Color and contrast different from Premiere Pro 2 DVD creation

I found after creating DVD's via Premiere Pro 2 are more saturated and more neutral in color vs encoding through Encore.
I made a si8de by side test, converted them back to AVI and grabbed the same still of each. The Encore still was lower in contrast (flatter) and a slight bit warmer. over all the DVD compression from PP2 gives a richer look. If you are a film maker or photographer this matters a lot, but not for most users.
the file sizes from premiere are bigger. for example a 8mbs from a 7:30 avi compression on premiere resulted in 544mb while a 9.4 compression via encore 2 resulted in 464 mb. when changing the mbs from 8-9.4 mbs it resulted in exactly the same size file 464mb. even when starting a new project, which means that there might be a bug and encoding on a unknown predetermined mbs, probably 7. This would explain the flatter look of the Encore 2 compression.
Does anyone know how to find out at what rate a dvd has been encoded after it's done? knowing that there isn't any difference in the file size between 8mbs and 9.4 mbs shows that there must be a problem.
This test was done with the Encore DVD 2 trial version. I have vs 1.51 as well and will make a test on this one as well. to see if there is the same problem.

    1. Can you detail your exact method, step-by-step, for both Premiere and Encore?
encode encoded in premiere 2 at the highest level 9mbs (didn't chapter for a simple auto disk, this is disabled in pp2 but you can save as an mpg2 and import for chaptering in Encore2)
    2. Did you use the exact same source files for all tests, or just files that were the same duration?
Exactly the same source file, when importing the mpg2 into premiere i simply imported each file in the timelime and saved exactly the frame of each mpg2. All this started when i first compared 2 encodings from a film directors reel where quality is crucial, and saw it immidiatly when playing the 2 different dvd's of the same reel on a DVD player (JVC) and Sony monitor.
    3. Be sure to include project settings and program preferences for both applications.
encore 2 encoded at cbr 1x 9mbps (highest)
Premiere 2 encoded at cbr 1x 8mbps (highest)
when setting to 9mbps in PP2 I get the3 following warning:
Total Video and audio bitrate (10.536 Mbs) exceeds maximum allowable bitrate (10.030 Mbps) for DVD type of muxing.
So i reduced the bitrate to 8 and still got a file of 557mb and better color and contrast than Encore2.
The final results of encoding in PP2 gives an identical DVD mpg as far as color and contrast to the original AVI.
When encoding at the max rate of 9 in PP1.5 i never got this warning.
I just repeated the above test on more time in PP2 and Encore DVD 2
they must use a different codec for Encore2 than PP2.
Besides the color and gamma shift the image size horizontally is a slight bit different (larger) than the one done with PP2, but not verically.
you can also encode in PP2 save it as a multiplexed mpg2 file and than chapter it for the final dvd in encore2 which gives you the higher quality results of PP2.

  • Color Differences between Lightroom and Premiere Pro

I have been making color adjustments to movie clips in Photoshop or Lightroom (both of which do a great job), but when I bring the clips into Premiere Pro or Premiere Elements the colors are not the same as what I was seing in the other programs. It is as if the programs are using different color profiles. How do I resolve this problem?

Photoshop and Lightroom are designed for still photography. Still photographers use a color managed workflow that in general ends in a paper print. Since printers/inks/papers can in general display a wider gamut than computer monitors can display, we use tools manage it, such as soft proofing. The efficient way to control this is through ICC profiles of the printer/ink/paper combinations, of which there are thousands. Thus Photoshop and Lightroom and other still photography tools are esentially required to be color managed.
PPro and film/video have decidedly different requirements. The video workflow ends in a light source display (projection, HDTV, or web video, all are light sources, where a pigment ink print is a reflective source, which has entirely different characteristics). These end displays are not variable workspace displays. HDTV displays only in REC.709 workspace, its gamut, contrast, etc. are tightly defined. Web video uses the sRGB workspace. Etc.
I'm just sayin' that still photography and video have very different requirements. Trying to force still photography methods onto a video workflow is bound to be difficult and full of problems, as you have found.
The answer to your "How do I resolve this problem" question is perhaps to use the still photography tools for still photography, and the video tools for video. A stills workflow for stills, and a video workflow for video.
A video workflow implies doing color correction and color grading on external monitors that natively support the target work space (Rec.709 in the case of HDTV, Blu-ray, or DVD output [OK, technically DVD uses SDTV's REC.601 work space, but 709 is "close enough" that you can get by in all but the most critical applications]). IOW, use a production monitor, or at least an HDTV (calibrated of course), to judge final output.
Trying to color correct video on a computer monitor is just asking for trouble. As you well know by now.
A good place to start learning the video way of things when it comes to color correction and grading is Alexis Van Hurkman's Color Correction Handbook. Highly recommended; it answered questions that I didn't know enough to ask yet. Might for you too, IDK.

  • Lightroom 5 color labels appear dark causing mac pro monitor(s) to go black, have to restart, get a kernel panic os 10.7 5

I have a Mac Pro 12 core, with a Nvidia Quadro Pro 4000 video card. I have been using lightroom with this video card since 2011 without a problem. I updated to os 10.7.5, which apple says it is the latest f  and now when i use lightroom (after about 15 minutes),  my monitor goes black, which i am sure is a video card issue which involves lightroom settings, and i have to restart my system. After restart I get a kernel panic report. I unistalled lightroom, and had no crashes. I reinstalled it and i started to get computer crashes again. (not lightroom crashes but computer  -) When i open lightroom, the color labels appear saturated and much darker than usual. I took a screenshot www.jlanceimaging.com/lrscreenshot.jpg.
Since updating to 10.7.5 i have had this issue with lightroom and the video card.
I also went into photoshop an unchecked the graphics processor but still got the crashes.
and last;y, i opened up lightroom 4 and had no problems

You don't say what, if anything, you have done to test, resolve or rule out causes, so you can always assume hard restarts, freezes, and not safe shutdowns will make for more problems (corrupt files, file system, directory, etc).
Running Apple Hardware Test; Reset SMC; repairing your drives; ruling out cables, controllers, external devices, even drivers for printers and other devices.
If you are on a UPS, it should be 1000VA or larger (1300-1500VA). If there are other devices and you could be exceeding the load on circuit breaker, also worth looking into and sometimes requires adding a new circuit line.

  • What restrictions are there when downloading Premiere Pro CS7

I would like to know if there are any restrictions to the trial software such as missing codecs when exporting or the inability to dynamic link to After Effects for example. Are there any others? It would be nice to be able to assess the software thoroughly before buying.

They appear to be. My After Effects is installed through the CC and is working fine. So too is Premiere Pro. They both work independently of each other but one of the big reasons for me switching to Adobe PP is the fact that I'm supposed to be able to easily, and without losing data, switch between AE and PP and back again and it'd be nice to see how it works in practice.

  • Re-interpreted footage metadata is lost when moving Premiere Pro CC 2014 project file to different computer

    Hi guys,
I believe this is just a bug in Premiere Pro CC 2014 (and other versions in the past), but I wanted to make sure it was on the PP team's plate for the next update, since it's detrimental to a workflow that include more than one computer or more than one editor on a project.
My team shoots a lot of footage in slow-motion (for instance, 59.94 for 23.976). Premiere's process to conform this footage is great. Modify -> Interpret Footage -> Assume this frame rate: "23.976".
Unfortunately, when we move this project file to another system, even if we are using a hard-drive that is synced to have the exact same source media files with the exact same file structure, we lose the footage interpretation metadata. Premiere Pro CC thinks this footage is 59.94 again, and our sequences are in shambles. All clips where the interpretation metadata is lost have "zebra pin stripes" on them wherever they exist in our sequences.
We have to manually re-interpret the footage, and then sometimes manually re-select in and out points. This is a work-around that enables us to push forward, but it's a barrier that makes collaborative editing extremely challenging and opens up rampant possibility for error. It's hard to locate every clip we need to re-interpret in some of our more complex projects, and even harder to avoid re-interpreting the wrong clips.
Looking forward to a resolution to this problem.

"Do tou have after effects installed? If yes, please try to import the main sequence into it and then export it as premier pro project from file/export ootion and then try to open that in premiere pro."
This didn't work for me too but I did try and import my existing project into a new project and copy all the files over. Works fine now.
I don't know if I will have the same issue again tomorrow so I'm going to render out a super high res video before I close premiere just in case

  • My webcam turns on when using Premiere Pro CC. How do I make this stop?

Got a weird one here folks...
It seems as though my webcam (Logitech C110) is turning itself on whenever I am using Premiere Pro CC.
When any window within Premiere is selected the green light besides the lens turns on...when I click "out of" Premiere...it goes off.
I seriously doubt Adobe is pulling some NSA-esque reconnaissance here. Does anyone else have this "problem" and if so do you know a way to fix this?
    Best,
    Alex

I believe this issue has been present since day one of signing up for CC. Anyone have a solution?

  • Screen captures (.avi) appear black in Premiere Pro 2.0

I have been using two screen capture programs: HyperCam2 and Camtasia to create .avi files. I have been importing the .avi files into Premiere Pro 2.0, and then editing the avi content. This process worked well.
Recently, the .avi screen captures that I have importing into Premiere Pro 2.0 appear black although the same .avi files play properly in any media player that supports .avi files.
Can anyone tell me what has changed, or how to correct this problem?

That is LIKELY a codec problem... where you have installed something new, which included a codec, and that install process told Windoze via the Registry something like "put my codec in 1st place" and doing that now causes your old codec to be a lower priority... and your files don't work properly

    Hi there,
When I have an insert from After Effects in Premiere Pro, and when I render these parts in the sequence, everything is fine untill I restart Premiere Pro: the render files do not load. Checking the cache directory however, they do exist! Anybody knows how to solve this issue?
    Thanks for yor response, Pieter

I failed to mention that I tried this on another computer as well with a completly different lesson. This time I brought the whole footage in to afteraffects and did the keying and then went back to CS6 and tried to render it, and it locked up my second computer the same way.

  • I'm getting an Error mesage 148:3 when opening Premiere Pro CS4 it's telling me I have to restart computer.  This does not solve the problem however.  Working on a PC.

This message came out of the blue.  I have made no changes to my computer or Premiere Pro.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.
