Colors suddenly changed in Photoshop

Hello All,
I have been using Photoshop 7 on Windows 7 Home Premium for three months with no problems whatsoever (with Pantone Huey Pro).
Suddenly the colors are out or wack, as you can see (please click the link). I reinstalled Photoshop. No luck, even with Huey disabled. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

ssprengel, hklotze,
Thank you for your responses! I downloaded an updated video driver, but that didn't do much for Photoshop, but the OS looked much better. I reinstalled Huey, and that didn't help, either. Erasing Photoshop's preferences is what did the trick. Without your suggestions I may never have updated the video driver or thought to install new prefs.
Thanks again,
Mark

  • Edge color suddenly changed in captured slides

I have Captivate 4. I recently completed a series of Captivate simulations, all of which appear to have a black edge.
Today I was making some tweaks to the simulations and recorded some new slides. The new slides appear to have a blue edge (matches the menubar of the captures). They also are of a slightly different size. I tried re-recording and had same result. See JPGs of Captivate slides below:
I did not (knowingly?) make any changes to the Captivate settings. I used the same computer resolution and theme. I don't know what determines the edge color. I thought that Captivate 4 used a black edge, so I'm not sure what's going on.The border settings and skins are identical between the versions with black and version with blue orders, as are the record settings.
I'm rather puzzled by this. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    Hi again
Most interesting situation. Not one I recall ever seeing here before.
Admittedly, I'm stumped. I'm inclined to believe it's got something to do with graphics and/or color settings. (Number of colors configured for the OS, graphics effects, etc)
I'm assuming here that when you view the systems that seem to produce the black edge, that the windows appear with no black edge? There isn't by chance a Highlight Box surrounding the window is there? What does the Timeline show for the affected slides?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Sudden color temperature change when opening some programs

I got this sudden color temperature change when I open Photoshop, Maya and a few other games. When I quit the programs the color goes back to normal. It first started happening once a while and I didn't really notice, but now it's become a regular thing... I think it begun after upgrading to Yosemite. It's quite uncomfortable to my eyes but it's bearable. I'm just concerned whether it's a sign for something worse. Please please help!
I took photos of before and after the color change, basically it becomes much brighter and more blueish.

Did you ever find a solution for this? It recently started for me too, and it's already getting on my nerves First I thought it was because of dynamically switching the graphics card but unfortunately it happens when I use it on an external monitor only (and thus is locked to the Radeon card)...

  • Created file in illustrator then opened in photoshop but color code changed?

I Created file in illustrator and then opened the art in photoshop but the wierd thing is that the color code changed. If you look at the image with you eye the color will look the same to the naked but if you use the eye dripper tool you can see that the color code has changed between illustrator and photoshop.
Is there a way to make the CMYK color code stay the same?

In Illustrator the "Edit---> color settings" are set to "North America General Purpose 2" and the that is the same color setting choice in Photoshop.
For example there is a black color in Illustrator that has this CMYK code "60, 49,47, 100"
but in photoshop the CMYK code for the same part of the graphic changes to "75, 68, 67, 90"
This is only one example of many color code changes that are happening and this may look like the same color on the screen but I need them to both have the same code because I am doing specialized printing and need no changes in color codes like this to occur.
If I have the color setting in both photoshop and illustrator both set exactly the same "Edit---> color settings" then do you know why this color shift would be happening. Please help.

  • Change color of clothing in Photoshop?

    Hello,
There's a nifty filter in After Effects called Change Color, with which you can select the color of a shirt in a photo, for example, adjust the threshold of the color to change, and quickly change the color of clothing, in very realistic way, in one step. I don't see a similar tool in Photoshop. Does anyone know if there is one? Thank you!

If you're looking for penultimate quality, I imagine you'd want to try to select/mask the garment in question with a high quality selection/mask, then do something like a Hue/Saturation adjustment (layer).
Russell Brown's video shows how to use selection and the Refine Edges function, which I'm sure would work with a colored shirt or whatever quite well...
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-russell-brown-show/masking-basics-in-photoshop-cs5/
Short of going all the way per the above video, the Hue/Saturation function itself allows you to affect color ranges.  Sometimes this can be enough in itself.  Depends on the level of realism in the detail you want to achieve.

Try running in Safe mode.  This leaves out some video drivers.  Which results in machine not using advanced video hardware.

  • Different Colors when printing from Photoshop and InDesign CS3

Different Colors when printing from Photoshop and InDesign CS3
    I have the following problem:
When printing from Photoshop or InDesign to a PostScript printer, Adobe recommends to let Photoshop handle the colors (I use the German version, so I don't know the exact term used, it changes slightly in all CS3 apps anyway).
The manufacturer however told me to let the PostScript printer handle the colors.
When I chose this option in Ps's print dialog and then choose ISO Coated as the printer pfofile, the results are fine.
But when I place the exact same image in an InDesign file and print from InDesign or export to PDF and print via Acrobat, again using "Printer handles colors", the results are the exact same as if I had used Ps and chosen to let Ps handle the colors (way too saturated and a bit too red).
    ·Photoshop CS3
    ·InDesign CS3
·Test image is a TIFF in CMYK Fogra 27 Coated (which is also the working color space in Ps and ID.
    ·Printer: Xerox Docucolor 3535
    ·Printer profile: ISO Coated
How can I make sure the printer handles the colors in other CS3 apps than Ps? I tried it with ID's print dialog (translated from the German version: Color Management > Options > Color Handling: PostScript-printer decides colors).
    Thanks a lot!

RE: "You don't indicate what Xerox printers you have"
In my first post I named it, is that the information you need?
    Docucolor 3535 using Splash 3535
That's interesting, so I have to find a way to turn off the printer's Color Management function? I mailed them, hope they can tell me how to do it easily. They usually just tell me to not use any profiles and so on, but that's the general rule in this area, I'm really tired of hearing it. Everybody seems to think profiles and LAB mode are nuclear science and I should stay away from it.
Anyway, the test image I'm using is a simple photograph (size A3, 300dpi), so no transparencies at all. I'm placing this image into an equally large ID file and print it from ID, then export it to PDF-X/3 and print it from Acrobat. Hope that helps.

  • Hotmail suddenly changed appearance and now presents with the top of the page blue with lines. I have a screenshot...

Running Firefox 15.0. Hotmail suddenly changed appearance and my page is not at the bottom of the screen. The top 5/6 of the page is a series of horizontal blue strips. Text in the blue section is the Windows Live titles like "Home, Devices, Mobile, etc". When I try to compose a new message, text from the blue area partially covers the "To" button, so I have to position the cursor at the very bottom of the button to enter an address. I tried Hotmail in IE and it appears just fine, so it must be a compatibility problem between Hotmail & Firefox. Hotmail has not responded to my email questions. I could understand if this happened at the very beginning of a session, just after I power up, but this happened after I had been active in Hotmail and other sites. Other sites are not affected, just Hotmail, and just in Firefox.

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Color managed printing from Photoshop CC 2014

It appears color managed printing has either changed significantly or is no longer possible with Photoshop CC 2014. We're able to turn off color management with both Photoshop CS6 and CC when printing to Canon iPFx400 series printers, but not with CC 2014. Has anyone encountered this issues and if so hopefully discovered a work around?

Im using OSX Mavericks. Photoshop CC 2014 was defaulting to Color Handing: Printer Manges Color in the print Dialog box. I was not use to this and didn't notice. Switching to photoshop manages colors grays out color matching in the printer settings. Im still not sure what has changed as all my profiles are way off with Photoshop CC 2014.

  • Simulate DNG profile change via Photoshop

    Hello everyone,
I have a RAW file and applied Adobe's default DNG Profile (via the  Camera Calibration panel in Lightroom 2.6) and converted it to a PSD file so I can retouch the photo via Photoshop CS3.
After hours of retouching, I now want to apply a custom DNG Profile that I made from a Macbeth Color Checker. However, I'm not able to apply the profile to "already-rendered images" (http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles:FAQ#WhyOnlyEmbedded)
So my question is: Is there any way to simulate the effects of a profile change via Photoshop adjustments (i.e. HUE/SAT adjustments)?
Please feel free to let me know if more clarification is needed.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi Wolf,
Thanks, I really appericate your response. But I'm still not able to change the DNG Profile. Here are my steps in following your direction, please let me know where I went wrong:
    1. I exported the retouched PSD file as a DNG file via Lightroom 2.6
    2. I then opened the DNG file in Camera Raw via Adobe Bridge
    3. At this point, I checked the "Open in Photoshop as Smart Objects" option and opened the file in Photoshop CS3
    4. I then double clicked on the smart opject within Photoshop, and like you said, the file opened in Camera Raw again
    5. However, when I go to the camera calibration panel, I am still not able to apply another profile; I only see an "Embedded" profile in the Profile popup menu and no other options.
Any advice would be much appericated.
    David

  • Batch Color Correction Change

What is the best method for changing a whole roll of photos that need color correction? I have iPhoto 6 and Photoshop CS. Would there be a way to make those changes in Photoshop, and than reimport those changes back into iPhoto to replace the noncorrected photos? Im not very effcient at photoshop so step by step would help the best. Or other suggestons or applications that will do the trick quickly and easily are welcome too...
    Thanks In Advance,
    Hintzer

    Hintzer:
You can batch change 4 photos at a time in iPhoto with PSC2 and not have to reimport. I can't help you with batch processing with PSC2 as I've never done it. But if you work out a workflow you can open 4 photos at a time using PS as the preferred editor in iPhoto.
Outside of iPhoto you could do as many as you'd want with PS. If you do batch correct the original files in iPhoto's Originals sub folders and then replace them with the corrected version you'll have to do a library rebuild and rebuild the thumbnails in order to see the changes reflected in the thumbnails. The changes will show in the full sized image in iPhoto without the rebuild.
What color corrections are you finding you need to do?

  • Colors suddenly super-saturated

Sudden change to my Imac 20" display today. Colors - desktop, web browser, documents, etc. are super saturated, while white colors are washed out. The brightness/darkness settings on keyboard don't help. Open windows are whiter than normal, eg. opening hard drive, application folder icons super saturated, normal blue folders are somewhat washed out, as well as the background,
When I restart, or start up, when the desktop comes up, the colors are normal for a few seconds, then switch to super-saturated.
Reading on screen individual letters look to be of different colors, i.e, instead of black, they're blue, orange, purple, etc. Even in the words I'm typing in here.
Anyone have this problem? Is my display going? I've shut down to let it rest, but it still persists. The weird thing is when I start up, it's normal for a few seconds, then the colors shift.
    Anyone? Thanks.

Wow! You certainly made my day! Thanks so much!!
I'm curious, how did this happen? The Display was always on Black on White, but dragging the slider more back to "Normal" fixed it.
(Just answered my own question...hitting apple/. at the finder level. (was trying to quit a scan yesterday, probably not in the scan window when I hit apple/.))
    Whatever ..... thanks again, Niel

  • Color picker changes as soon as I touch a slider

I select a Pantone color in the color picker. I switch to view the CMYK sliders to make a small adjustment. As soon as I touch one of the sliders the color sample changes to a darker shade even though the CMYK values ahve not changed. Doesn't happen if I touch a RGB sliders.
This happens using the Apple color picker in Photoshop no matter what color management I am using, also in Freehand.

Have you tried typing and saving using Notes or word processing Apps before sending message?
