Colours look different in Elements compared with Photoshop Album

Hello All,
I have a bit of a problem with Elements 5.0. When I import a RAW file and save to jpeg (at the maximum image quality selection) I have the image exactly as I want it. However if I then double click the image from the folder where it is stored it opens in Photoshop Starter Edition 3.0 and the colours of the image are much warmer with skin tones appearing more pink.
If I then open the same image back in Elements it appears all ok.
Has anyone else had this issue whereby Elements displays an image differently to other programs?
Help!!

  • Images Look Different in Finder Compared to Photoshop

    Hi,
I have a bunch of photos on my MacBook. They have all got profiles embedded. When in Finder they look much less saturated than when opened in Photoshop. It seems as though Finder doesn't honor the profiles unless they are in Apple RGB, ColorMatch RGB or sRGB IEC61966-2.1 when they look in Finder how they look in photoshop.
I store my profiles in Mac HD>Library>ColorSync>Profiles
    Can anyone help?

  • Aperture image-control compared with Photoshop?

I'm looking to get Aperture 2. I've been using iPhoto as a library, and Photoshop to control\doctor images. How does the Aperture image-control compare with Photoshop's? I'm not thinking so much here about fancy plug-ins, just basic, but subtle, color, contrast, cropping controls ... especially dealing with the highlights and shadows.
Any info from a user would be most appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Same problem here...
It started recently so I think some update create the problem.

color balance looks different going from lightroom to photoshop which is correct?

    Besides calibrating you rmonitor:
Make sure that in PS you have selected ProPhoto RGB as Working Space.
Go > Edit > Color Settings.
LR uses ProPhoto RGB and tht cannot be changed. So you have to make sure that PS uses the same Working Space.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 10 with Photoshop Elements 9

Is it possible to use both Adobe Premiere Elements 10 with Adobe Photoshop Elements 9?
I don't want to upgrade Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 because has not enought new functions but need new Premiere with Organizer.
Does Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 will work correctly with Organizer of Premiere 10?

    Hi,
It is possible to use both of them, seperately though. If you wish to do use some interoperable feature, that wont be possible, since, as Steve said, they both use thier respective organizer.

  • Using Elements Organizer with Photoshop CS2

I have grown comfortable with Photoshop Elements integrated organizer and have upgraded to Photoshop CS2 and instead of using the CS2 file manager would like to continue to use the Elements organizer. The problem Im having is when I edit a photo in CS2 and save it, I have to go find the edited file in Elements organizer and add it manually to the organizer, where if I edit in Photoshop elements, the file is automatically added in the organizer for me. Is there something I can do to make this more automatic when I edit in CS2?
    Thanks
    Joe

    Joe,
I have all the current updates for both products, but other than that, I've
    done nothing special.
For regular file types (jpg, psd, etc.) the handshake goes without a hitch.
Raw files act a little quirky. Raw files do get passed from Organizer to
CS2 and they open in camera raw. But, I've found that if you don't press
the "open" button in camera raw, CS2 will give you an error message that
says it couldn't receive the document from "Photoshop Album". Click ok on
that message and you get another that says it could not complete the update
from the Photoshop Album command because of a program error.
If, I press "open" in the camera raw dialog to edit in CS2, all is fine. If
I make changes and save, Organizer pops up a message saying I've returned to
Organizer and gives me an option to add to a version set or keep it
separate. It adds to the version set fine. But, since I only selected save
in CS2, it remains open there. If I make further edits to the open file and
save, I have to manually update the organizer thumbnail. On the other hand,
if I just click close and respond yes to the "save changes" message , I get
two popups -- one labled "edited file from Photoshop" and "new edited file".
If I click "ok" on both, I get two entries in the version set. (I've done
that with a regular file and I only get one popup.)
So, there you have it. Ordinary files work as expected. But, raw is quirky.
Raw files work fine if you continue to open in CS2 from camera raw and only
    save once.

  • Jpeg looks different than actual Image in Photoshop (saving Issues)

My image in photoshop has thin lines, but when I save it, the jpeg shows the image with very thick dark lines, looking not like the image in photoshop. Why does it do this? How can I stop PS from doing this to my image? I want the image to look as it does in Photoshop when I save it as a Jpeg.
    This is in Photoshop CS4
As it should be (using the snipping tool (I can't use the snipping tool as my only option, because it will only capture the size as it is on the screen, not the actual dimensions in Photoshop)
Saved as a Jpeg; the lines are thicker, and now there is little variation in line weight
Does anyone have a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just one comment...  Your lines in your screen grab are NOT thinner, they are simply a good bit lighter.
You should try to use the proper terminology, because you will end up realizing, when C.Pfaffenbichler helps you get to the bottom of your problem, that you likely are experiencing a gamma/color-management issue causing your pixels to be displayed far more lightly in one case than another.
Besides your color settings in Photoshop, it will also be helpful to know what color profile is associated with your monitor at the operating system level.
    -Noel
P.S., I don't know what result you're going for, but the JPEG with the darker lines looks a lot better on a calibrated display.  The screen grab seems too light.

  • Multiple Catalogs with Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0?

Is it possible to work with multiple and independent catalogs in PSA SE?
I suppose all catalog information by default is stores in the file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Album\Catalogs\My Catalog.psa (Windows XP Pro), and I can se that a renaming of this file is reflected in the program top-line.
It would be fine if I could start the PSA SE with a file path+name parameter identifying the actual catalog (xxxx.psa file) to open

The previous post answers my question about SE not having a multiple catalog feature. But I had been using PSA ver 1 which does have this feature. The SE came with a new computer. Is there any way I can incorparate the feature from ver 1 (which I paid for) into SE?

    > Thanks a lot.
    Hi Anita,
For XP you do NOT need to upgrade. I would recommend uninstalling the
application, redownloading a fresh package and reinstalling. Remember to
put in your email address when you get the package so that Adobe sends
    you a unlock code.
I think what you have run into is a minor problem with a file becoming
corrupted. The problem is, it is easier to just reinstall than to try to
    figure out which file.
Your images will be fine as your catalog does not change.
    Cheers

  • Storing Notes with Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3

I am new to Photoshop Album Starter Edition and was working with it yesterday to catalog some old family photos that I had scanned. When I was cataloging the photos, I added a caption and notes for each photo under the properties tab. When I burned the photo files to a CD and loaded the CD to another computer using Photoshop Starter Edition 3, I able to see the caption under properties but there was nothing in the Notes field. I'd like to use the notes field to store comments about the photo and then be able to burn the CD to share with other family members. Is there a way to burn the photos to a CD and be able to see the Notes information?

Using PSA 3.0 does this also mean that if I move an image to a new directory it loses the notes information and similarly should I rename the file will it will also lose the notes detail but not the caption. I understand why this is, if it is so - ah but here comes the question, "Is there any way to print out the notes detail by images etc to a file or to the printer should the need arise to reuse the information. Say I scan images to a laptop and record "notes information" using PSA 3.0 - how do I get that "notes" information to my desktop should I transfer the photos & use PSA 3.0 there - any help or advice would be most appreciated - are there other Adobe products that address this

  • What program compares to Photoshop Album Starter?

I just got a new computer using Windows 7.  I was using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter 3.2 on my old computer to transfer all my pictures to the PC and erase the photos from my camera or disks.  What do I use now that is comparable.  I use Adobe Photoshop CS 2 to edit the photos, but it does not transfer from the camera to the albums.

What program compares to Nero 7 ?
on a Mac, that would be Toast: http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/titanium/overview.html?gclid=CJGDnq_g8KE CFQuS3wodzG1lJQ.

  • Printing problems with Photoshop Album Starter Ed. 3.2 (Viewer)

Everytime I try to print a picture associated with Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 (Viewer) I get an error message saying it has "encountered a problem and needs to close."  I will post the additional information it gives below.  Can anyone please help!!  Thank you very much!  SCH
    Error Signature:
    AppName: componentlauncher.exe      AppVer: 3.2.0.12228      ModName: print.dll
Technical Information about the error report:  ......I can't get this information to copy and paste
    ModVer: 3.2.0.12228      Offset: 0001321d

I would normally say reinstall, but since the program has been discontinued, and if you don't have your registration serial number, then the program will not unlock after 30 uses.
You could simply NOT print from the viewer, and print from within the program.
Or, you could have another program take over as the default viewer for jpeg files, and utilize another viewer (like Windows Picture and Fax viewer); instructions for changing here: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-xp/change-windows-default-picture-viewer/

  • Photos look different on distilled pdf than photoshop edit

I have a customer who prints her tabloid with us> Yesterday she sent a couple screen shots to show me the difference in her black and white photos
that she edits in photoshop compared to that edited pic on the finished pdf which she then sends to me.
She is concerned because the photo in photoshop after she edits it to what she wants it to look like looks considerably lighter on the pdf.
    Anyone know what causes this?
    thanks

It all depends on the print condition, the accuracy of the ICC profiles, and the accuracy of the display (the monitor needs to be properly calibrated and profiled).
Black ink only can print pretty dark and rich using a sheetfed press and a #1 coated sheet. So much depends on the characteristics of the paper and the solid black ink density. Still, no halftone can ever print as deep as a black and white image using CMYK, or 2 hits of black.
Generally speaking the default dot gain 20 is not the most accurate profile for grayscale. The absolute best course of action is to obtain a CMYK profile from the printer or get them to recommend one. Then a grayscale profile can be generated from this CMYK very easily. If you are interested I can tell you how.
