${com.sap.datasource.default}  for a remote ORACLE

Hello!!!:
At the data-source-aliases.xml  file are the following lines:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<data-source-aliases>
<aliases>
<data-source-name>
${com.sap.datasource.default}</data-source-name>
<alias>CAR_RENTAL_POOL</alias>
</aliases>
</data-source-aliases>
I'm using a remote ORACLE instead the default SAPDB and I need to know what I have to put in the place of            ${com.sap.datasource.default}           (which are the parts of the path or complete name ? where I should look for them?)
Thanks for your time.

Hi Javier,
You need to deploy the jdbc driver and create data source as defined in
Deploy JDBC Driver
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ab/082484173ae045ab8dad8a41d33da3/frameset.htm
Define DataSource
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ab/082484173ae045ab8dad8a41d33da3/frameset.htm
Once you define the datasource, you can use it in your data-sources-aliases.xml
Hope this helps
Thanks and Regards,

  • Having GP point to customer iViews and not "com.sap.pct"  default iViews

    We are tailoring the SAP-delivered ESS Life and Work Events Guided procedures, and have now successfully built a couple of them.  However, when we execute these procedures, they point to the SAP-delivered ESS iViews, and not to the copies we have made
    e.g. pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/.............../com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employmentverif   INSTEAD OF
    pcd:portal_content/com.COMPANYNAME//com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employmentverif
    I have searched high and low throughout the available documentation, and have not seen how I can point to our customied iViews.
    Any insight will be gratefully acknowledged.
    Sincerely
    Rob

    Problem solved.
    I was defining the actual webdynpro as the callable object.  What I should have done was invoke a Portal Iview, NOT the dynpro.  In doing that, I brought up the personalized iview, and everything worked like a charm.

  • Connect to Remote Oracle Server?

    Hi all,
    What is the recommended method for connecting a Windows 2000 web server to a remote Oracle database? Ideally, a driver could add the remote Oracle database to our local list of ODBC datasources.
    We're using ColdFusion (web application development package) to connect to local ODBC datasources. A prospective client of ours would like to use our ColdFusion web server, but with their own Oracle server providing the back-end database, rather than use our native Access or SQL databases. I'm happy to do this, provided a simple, secure and free solution is available.
    The ColdFusion support forums talk about an "Oracle Client" though I can find no reference to it -- let alone, a download page -- on Oracle.com.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Dave

    The general procedure for connecting a web server to an Oracle database via ODBC is as follows:
    1) Install the Oracle client on the web server machine. You can download the Oracle client from OTN by going to "Software" and choosing "Oracle 8i EE". If you have an Oracle CD, "client-only" is an installation option. Note that the 8.1.7.0 ODBC driver will be installed automatically when the Oracle client is installed. You may want to download and install the updated 8.1.7.2 ODBC driver.
    2) Use the Net8 Configuration Assistant to provide the Oracle client with the connection information for the remote Oracle database.
    3) Create a new ODBC DSN for the Oracle database (alternately, your application can make a DSN-less connection)
    4) Now, your application should be able to connect with the Oracle database.

  • Concept: How can I handle a hole in a non-sap datasource?

    Hello,
    I want to discuss here a problem with non-sap datasource:
    We load data from oracle db with db-connect technique. Each record we load has an idate(record is created) and a udate(record is changed). Based on the udate we create a kind of delta load:
    The udate is selection criteria of the Infopackage(full upload)
    In the start routine of the transferrule we detect the oldest udate and store it to the tvarc table. This UDATE is the low selection criteria for udate of the next load. So we reload only the records, which are change after the last load.
    The data are transferred to ODS (overwrite) and so on..
    That works perfect!
    But now we find out, that in this non-sap datasource it’s possible to delete records directly. In SAP we have usually the procedure that a reversal document is created to delete a record(for example FI documents). In fact this non-sap datasource creates a hole in the database. A record is deleted – > no udate change -> no change in BW. That means the record is still in BW!
    Do you had a similar problem? Or do you have an idea how we could fix this problem.
    I can not load all data every day by full upload – that needs to much time more than 2 million data from five different datasources….
    Thank you for your attention
    Ralf

    Hello,
    To close my post, here is my solution:
    - ODS A is filled by delta using the UDATE field.
    - ODS B is filled by full upload. It contents only the key fields of ODS A (load needs
      only 20 minutes)
    - ODS C is filled by ODS A(only key fields) per full upload. In the startroutine of the
      update rule is a check: Delete all data, which are in ODS B.
      Result is: ODS C contents only the data, which have to be deleted in ODS A.
    - Full upload ODS C to ODS A. Set in the start routine recordmode to 'R'.
      Result is: these records are delete from the ODS A and change log of ODS A is
      updated.
    Before the next load the content of ODS B and C is deleted.
    (cool picture:)
    ..........CUBE X
    ..............|
    .(delta)....|
    ..............|........ODS C(diff. A - B)
    ..............|........|....|
    ..............|..(R).|....|.\  (check)
    ..............|........|....|..\
    ............ODS A....ODS B(keys)
    .(delta)...|................| (full)
    ..........non sap systems
    It's followed the principle of Sudhi's idea. But I did it not with PSA, because I have five different DataSources, so I need five calls to identify the records, which have to be deleted and five calls to edit the PSA ....
    In this way I load everything in ODS and do the procedure only once time.
    All the best Ralf

  • Start/Stop OPMN for a Remote OAS instance?

    Hi,
    I found this documentation online for Starting and Stopping all OPMN Managed Processes for a Remote Oracle Application Server Instance:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/core.1013/b28944/tasks.htm#i1017215
    Ex: prompt > opmnctl @instance:oracleas2.foo.com startproc
    However, from what I understand, I can't use this command unless the server I'm calling it from has an installation of Oracle Application Server... is this correct?
    I was wondering if I could do a stopall/startall of a 10.1.3.1 Oracle Application Server instance from a different/separate Oracle database server?
    Thanks much,
    Nora

    What about:
    ssh oracle@remotehost opmnctl startall
    This will only work provided that you have set up your remote environment properly.

  • Error using SAP datasource for OmniPortlet

    I have installed and configured PDK 9.0.4.0.2 on my iAS 10g system. Also installed and configured the SAP datasource for OmniPortlet. AIX/5.3 - OAS10g ( Portal version Default 9.0.4.0, won´t work!!! )
    Hi there...
    I did got some problems when I was installing a SAP OMNIPORTLET...but now , it´s working just fine ...
    Please ,
    1 - First , pay closely attention on the documentation and installation guide :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/point_downloads.html#SAPDS
    2 - Make sure that you are using a CORRECT version. For PDK , must be 9.0.4.1;
    3 - Sapjco.jar version 2.0.2 isn´t available anymore, at SAP website. I have used sapjco.jar version 2.0.10, and please, follow ALL instructions, that´s include do the examples;
    4 - Make sure that all steps (Installing the OracleAS Data Source Plugin,Installing the JCo lib´s,Testing the Deployment, etc) describe on the installation guide, be complete successfully;
    5 - On my case, ´cause we have Infra and Middle , at same host ( hold on...it´s just a developed enviroment...), a did specify a CLASSPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH , at ..EMC > Middle > OC4J_Portal > Server properties > enviroment ..
    6 - My question now is... That plugin it´s just able to see a default BAPI´s? It´s possible to work with "Z" functions ?

  • Error while creating datasource userdsn for oracle 10g Errorcode (998)

    while creating datasource userdsn for oracle 10g i am getting error "The setup routines for the oracle in OraDb10g_home1 odbc driver could not be loaded due to system error code 998" please give reply soon

    Thanks for your reply , Steve.
    I noticed that there is a default datasouce on the EM with the following parameters:
    <data-source
              class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
              name="OracleDS"
              location="jdbc/OracleCoreDS"
              xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
              ejb-location="jdbc/OracleDS"
              connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
              username="scott"

              url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:oracle"
              inactivity-timeout="30"
         />
    The location and xa-location attributes that I use for my "test" data source are the same as the default one. So, could this be the issue?
    What should be the values for location and xa-location attributes from my "test" data source?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Let me see your code. A simple executeQuery() should do the trick:
    Statement s = c.createStatement();
    ResultSet r = s.executeQuery("select sysdate from dual");
    while (r.next())
    java.sql.Timestamp t = r.getTimestamp(1);

    Hi.
    I guess you are using weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource as a

    Weblogic JDriver for Oracle "implementation" is really weak as a lot
    of methods are not implemented.
    This is why you get this message.
    You may find the (very impressive) list of non implemented methods at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/oracle/API_joci.html#1162621 (sorry
    HTML links don't seem to work here).
    Any call to one of this methods will give you these nasty message and
    exception.
    Try to use the "official" Oracle JDBC driver XA Datasource
    (oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource) instead of Weblogic JDriver
    for Oracle one's.

    hey,
         The JDBC driver installation is different for PI 7.1.
    The dowload/modify/deploy .sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda method was used in the earlier versions.(mentioned in the How to guides)

    Hi,
    1. I believe you need to use 5<xx>04 instead of 5<xx>05.
    2. Make sure user has proper rights for deployment.
    @ John: Runtime Systems should be the CE systems.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers-

  • Portal Runtime Error for "com.sap.portal.toolAreaiView"

    Hi EP Gurus,
    We are using EP6 SP11 Patch3 installed on UNIX and Windows machine as well.
    We are getting following error message:
    Portal Runtime Error
    An exception occurred while processing a request for :
    iView : pcd:portal_content/com.lti.I-1192_fldr_01/
    com.lti.I-1192_fldr_17/I-1192_desktop/
    frameworkPages/frameworkpage/com.sap.portal.toolAreaiView
    Component Name : com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.default
    Each time when we got this message we have to restart the j2ee engine and then everything works fine.

  • Com.sap.ip.bi.rig.ColumnWidth for key vs. text

    I am implementing module com.sap.ip.bi.rig.ColumnWidth (in conjunction with com.sap.ip.bi.rig.DocumentContent), and have come to the point where I need to set all the column widths.
    It would be really great if BEx would just render the column widths as usual for all the unmodified columns.  Tobias / SAP can you make that an option in the future?  It would be very helpful!!
    But for now I must specify a column width for every column.  I do not like using the approach of just setting column widths by index because as soon as the user re-arranges the columns it looks terrible and cuts off some columns.  So I have been using the "Default width for specific characteristic" option (from [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_NW70EHP1core/helpdata/en/47/a0623a12753377e10000000a421937/frameset.htm]) and listing out all the different characteristics and using trial and error to set the widths.
    Now the problem is that I haven't figured out a way to specify a column width for the key versus the text of a characteristic, since for some characteristics we display key + text (or the user could set that in the navigation).
    Is there a solution for this?
    It would be really, really, REALLY helpful to have BEx set the column widths as usual, because otherwise I have to set them manually for all the characteristics, possibly by key AND text, and for all attributes that the user could potentially add.  That is a LOT of work, and error prone I might add.
    We are on BI-BASE-S and BIWEBAPP 7.01.5.20.

    Hi Christian,
    I have gone through lot of notes and found that in SP 17 this issue was resolved, currently i don't have the note number.
    The alternate solution to control the column width was to use the Report Designer(we  are currently implementing this).
    Thanks,
    Kumar
