  • Can adobe reader dc be used to combine adobe acrobat files

  • Combine problems Acrobat Pro 7.0

    Computers are XP Pro SP3
    Excel version 2003
    Acrobat Professional 7.0
This is happening on at least two computers.  Users have, in the past, been able to combine several Excel files into a PDF file for distribution.  A folder may contain 100+ files, but the users have always been able to combine them in the past.  This month, Acrobat will be going through the process and just stop.  The computer doesn't hang up or display any errors.  Acrobat just stops with an Excel file open.
One clue may be that all our computers were updated to the Reader 9.3 last month.
I have tried removing the Reader totally.
I have tried removing and reinstalling Acro Pro 7.0 and letting it update.
I have tried the same combine while logged on as an administrator.
Any other help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Ed

Thanks Bill.  Yes, I did let AA7 update after installing.  They first noticed the problem yesterday, but it was the first time they had tried to combine any files since the Reader 9.3 update.  I can only assume the problem is related.  I'll try another update and see if it does anything.
    I appreciate the reply.

  • When combining PDFs Acrobat XI Pro crashes. It manages to save the newly created document but the resulting crash is really frustrating. Any input would be welcome, thanks!

Just as the post said, I have a user that frequently combines PDFs. When she tries to combine documents, it crashes, although it does save the new document.
The crash takes away from her productivity and she isn't pleased as this was also happening with Acrobat 9 Pro that we just upgraded from. Any ideas on why
this is occurring would be most welcome. Thanks!

Acrobat versions prior to 9 had a bug which allowed you to do what you did. In Acrobat 9 this bug was fixed. In order to do what you want you need to certify (apply special certification digital signature with your certificate -- it is "Certify (Visible/Invisible)" choice in the "Work with Certificates") your document first. In the process of certification you can specify which modification permissions you allow the users of your document to make after signing. Certification signature must be the first signature in the document.

  • Error when Combining Files (Acrobat XI & Office 2010)

I have a user who is getting an error every time she tries to combine files on her computer.
    Pdfs will combine just fine.
Pdf + MS Office file types fail.
Combining two MS Office file types fail.
A side issue, maybe related, is that the Acrobat tab in her office applications errors when she attempts to "Create PDF".
I've uninstalled / reinstalled, and rebooted.
System is Win 7 running Office 2010 w/ Acrobat XI.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    I get this error.
The user is logged in as an admin of their machine and I haven't set any restrictions that should cause this.

  • Paragraphs omitted from doc combined in Acrobat 8

    Hi,
    Tech: Windows XP SP2, Acrobat 3D (8.1.2)
One of my clients needs to convert a long DOC file to PDF. He also needs to combine other files (some DWG's) in the same batch into a one single unified PDF
In explorer he right clicks the DOC, selects 'Combine supported files in Acrobat' and follows the wizard to add other files.
Everything seems to work pretty fine and the combined PDF is created. When he opens the resulted PDF, text lines are missing in a random manner (especially near page breaks)
We tested it again, this time we ensured to make the Adobe PDF printer the default printer, but again no luck.
The only workaround is to open the doc file, print to PDF, save the file, repeat this process for any DOC file then use the combine method. This reduces efficiency and increases the time needed to submit his Work.
Any suggestion resolving this is welcomed.
    Regards,
    Yossi Maoz

    Hi Yossi,
Please ask your question on the regular Acrobat User-to-User forum. Even though your problem is occurring in Acrobat 3D, this forum only deals with 3D specific issues. You'll probably get a much quicker answer on the other forum.

  • Can you get full acrobat program on creative cloud (ie, combine in acrobat and distiller)?

I have purchased the creative cloud teacher & student edition but need the use of distiller and the ability to combine multiple pages in acrobat. Is this available or do i need to purchase the program seperate?

If you downloaded Acrobat from the Apps page of the Creative Cloud https://creative.adobe.com/apps then you have the full version of Acrobat. I have found the "rotation of pages" and "merge pages into 1 document" features. I do not know about the "insert/extract pages" feature but they will in the Acrobat forum here http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat.
"Rotation of pages" is available from the Acrobat menu View > Rotate View:
"Merge pages into 1 document" is available from the Acrobat menu File > Create > Combine Files into a Single PDF:

  • Acrobat pro 9 in combination with acrobat reader X

In our company we have acrobat reader 9 installed on all desktops. About 5% of the users also make use of acrobat pro 9 and have both the pro and reader installed.
We now want to upgrade to acrobat reader X. This will work fine for the users who only have the reader, but can reader X and acrobat pro 9 coexist on the same system or do we get issues?

This will work. However, even though it's supported the installation of different products with different version across an enterprise environment introduces many variables, and there's no way that Adobe can test what soon becomes an infinite number of environments.
That said, the reason Reader X was designed to work with Acrobat 9.x (the later the version the better) is because its sandboxing features make it far more secure. So upgrading to Reade X is recommended. It would be wise to test your deployment on a few machines for a bit before deploying to all your users.

  • Combining PDF Form causes fields to disappar, Acrobat to crash when trying to edit combined PDF

I have a 10 page PDF form that I can edit normally.  I combine it using the Combine Files wizard.  The resulting PDF has several fields disappear upon saving, and causes Acrobat to crash every time if I try to edit the form.  I can combine the original PDF form with no other document, and the error still occurs.  I have several similarly named fields, such as Name#1 and Name#2, and it seems that all those fields disappear after going through the Combine Files process.  I can open the resulting PDF, and fill in the remaining fields, but attempting to edit the form causes Acrobat to crash each and every time.
I have used this process before, with no problems, but it fails every time on this form.
This is the error in the Event Viewer: Faulting application Acrobat.exe, version 10.0.0.396, time stamp 0x4cc5ebc0, faulting module AcroForm.api, version 10.0.0.396, time stamp 0x4cc5f5cc, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0012d905
This is using Acrobat X Standard and Pro on XP Pro and Vista.
If I open the original PDF, and insert a new PDF as new pages, that works fine.
I updated Acrobat to the latest patch, problem remains.  I don't know how to resolve this.

Did a little more testing and this is what I found. If I use the "Insert from file" feature to combine a cover sheet plus 3 AcroForms (inserting each file one by one), eveyrthing appears to work.  However, if I use the "Combine via Acrobat" feature I run into the issue of fields disappearing once combined.
I shoudl also add that perhaps the issue had something to do with the fact that I initally produced the cover page pdf via Photoshop "save as PDF". Perhaps that contirbutted to the structure issue despite it being a PDF...maybe under the hood things are structured differently.  Who knows.
Just FYI for others: What appears to be working is using the "Insert from file" option vs "Combing via Acrobat". Also, if you are including a non-AcroForm PDF, be sure it a traditional vs. saving as a PDF from Photoshop.
Alot of this may be a fluke, but it seems to fix my issue - for now.

  • Acrobat combine feature switching pages?

I'm using Acrobat 9.5 (Windows) in a business where we handle PDFs from customers every day. For each project, some of my clients prefer to send me all their pages in a PDF that has already been assembled. Other clients send the pages individually and I use Acrobat to group them, check the page order, and output an assembled PDF. (We convert the PDF to a series of images they can view online in a browser.)
Recently I started having problems with projects for a client who sends individual pages. Two months ago, after I posted his project online, he emailed to say one pair of pages was reversed, and could I please fix that. It was pretty embarrassing, considering how basic page order is. So, one month ago, when I combined the pages in Acrobat, I very carefully made sure the pages were in sequence. S-l-o-w-l-y counting "10 ... 11 ... 12 ... 13 ... 14 ... etc" as I viewed the pending combination in Acrobat. I saved the result and converted the PDF. This time when he contacted me to say THREE pairs of pages had been flipped, I was amazed.
I have a half dozen clients with up to 50 or 60 regular projects. This only happens to one client. Plus it's recently started. Can't find anything wrong with his original files. They have normal file numbers.  Any ideas?

I'm taking their PDFs, selecting all in Windows Explorer, right clicking to get/use "Combine supported files in Acrobat" from the context menu, which takes me into Acrobat Pro 9.5 to move pages up or down if necessary, then output a standard PDF w/all pages of their magazine.
From that point on, it goes through a process that basically converts each page into a single-frame Flash file (image) for online Web viewing. Pretty much SOP for digital publishers.
Don't know why they're using that route to export their PDFs. Also don't know why some clients send individual pages and some send a single document with all pages already in a PDF file. I don't usually have reason to query them about their production.

  • Acrobat 9 combines files alphabetically. Why?

I recently upgraded to Acrobat Pro Extended 9 from Acrobat 7.
In 7, when I wanted to combine individual PDF's to one PDF, I would select them, right click and choose "Combine in Acrobat".  It would then order my PDF's in the order that I selected my files, and give me the option to rearrange them if I needed.  Now when I select my files and right click to combine, the files are always listed alphabetically no matter how I highlight my files to be combined.
I don't like this feature.  I print individual PDF's in an order in which I want to combine them.  When I select all of those and right click to combine, I don't want to have to rearrange out of an alphabetical order.  Is there a way to set the default order to the actual order in which I highlight my files to be combined?

I am not sure how to do this given what I am  doing.
Scenario 1:  I have scanned a bunch of pages into a single pdf file and at my leisure move the pages to different files.  Not sure how I would use insert pages in this situation.
Scenario 2:  I open a monthly statement and move the pages into another file containing previous months statements.  Would I have to actually save the file first before I could follow your suggestion?
Is there anyway of determining what fonts I need in order to check if I have them?

Subject: acrobat 9 pro seems to be damaging files, why?
To test the font issue, try using insert pages to add a file to another one rather than the drag and drop. There could be a bug in the latter, or just that fonts don't work well with that process, particularly if you do not have the fonts on your system.

  • Acrobat 7 freezes when combining multiple files

I'm running Acrobat 7 Standard, and whenever I attempt to combine multiple PDF files acrobat will freeze up completely. It can scan, and add pages to an open document with no trouble. It will freeze whether I choose Create PDF From Multiple Files within acrobat, or if I select multiple files in windows explorer, then right click and choose Combine in Acrobat...
I have cleared temporary files, repaired the program, and completely reinstalled the program. Even after a fresh reinstallation, it will lock up when trying to combine multiple files. It does everything else just fine.
I am running a HPCompaq dc5100 MT, with Windows XP Pro. I have 2GB ram, and a P4 3.2Ghz processor. I also have a database program called Laserfiche that I run, though this problem occurs whether I have Laserfiche open or not. I've already tried killing all acceptable processes (minus adobe's of course) and recreated the error. I've also tried this with the most recent update 7.1.0 and without: both yeild the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dear all,
I think I have the same problem... or not ?!
=> When I try to open multiple files at the same time it opens only the 2 or 3 first ones then it freezes on the Spinning Beach Ball of Death !
=> Then it never completely finishes loading and freezes up Indesign.
=> I am unable to cancel the dialog box and have to use cmd+alt+esc to close the program
=> then, the files open directly on indesign when I open the program again (jus as if the files had been loaded and ready to go)
I am working on MAC OS X (10.7.3)
Anybody could help please ?? (sorry for my english... I'm a French native speaker)

  • Combined PDF page display speed difference between Acrobat 8 Pro and Acrobat X Pro

I have encountered a display speed issue with regards to combining Tiffs with Acrobat X Pro.  The Tiffs are between 200 KB and 600 KB.  Tested the issue by using a series of Tiffs originally combined using Acrobat 8 Pro but used Acrobat X Pro to combine them.  When I open the combined PDF files using X, I can cycle through the pages of the one created using 8 significatinly faster (i.e. about as fast as I can click) but the file created using X is significately slower.  Note: PDF file size is smaller using X (30.9 MB) than same combined files using 8 (46.1 MB).  Any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

Found a Tips & Tricks document for Acrobat 8 which indicated the default Monochrome Compression setting for Acrobat 8 is CCITT G4.  Recreated the combined PDF file from the original Tiffs using X Pro with the modified setting and works like a charm.  Thanks for the point in the right direction.

  • Blurry images when I combine files into a PDF with Acrobat

I have created 4 files in Photoshop with a combination of graphics and text.  I am trying to make a PDF that can be emailed, so it only has to look good onscreen.  I have saved each file in numorous ways (jpg, tiff, pdf, bmp etc...) I have eliminated any compression.  When I pull the files up individually they look great, but when I try and combine them in a PDF the images get blurry.  I have selected the largest file size, change compression for jpg (and the others) in acrobat. I can't figure out what I am missing.  Why do the files look good until I combine them?

A little confusing. How to eliminate compression when using JPG or PDF?
If you export the images from Photoshop to PDF, will they look good on screen? If so, and you import and combine in Acrobat, they should not be changed, unless you select "Save as optimised PDF", because then optimisation settings could re-encode the images to lower resolution.

  • I need help with combining two pdf files together but it won't let me in the latest Acrobat DC?

    Hi,
I had two ai files, 11 by 17 on separate pages, and made them into pdf's. When I combine the files, it will let one out of the two files go through. The funny thing is that it will let the larger file go through than the smaller file. The file that went through had been in  ai, dropped it into photoshop and put it back into ai again. The file that won't go through is a quote with different text. What should I do? What does pdf/a, pdf/x, pdf/e and preflight mean?
    Thank you

Make sure neither of the PDF have been secured in some manner like password protection, form rights or forms distribution.
Forms created with live cycle cannot be combined by Acrobat.
