Combine audio/video files

Does anyone know of an automator action I can use to combine multiple files into a single one?

You would need to do this in a video editing program such as iMovie (though its separate handling of audio and video may be limited) or Final Cut Pro. Try asking in the iMove forum. It's not something you can do with Automator by itself.

  • Can I Re-Combine Audio & Video Files??

A post-production house took my DigiBeta and created two separate files for a DVD Studio Pro project: one VIDEO file and one AUDIO file.
I'm now trying to use those two separate files for a different project in iDVD. (I do not have DVD Studio Pro.) But, since iDVD can't use two separate files, I need to find a way to make them into one file that iDVD can use.
    Any help?
(This question was also posted in the iDVD forum, but this DVDSP forum seems more appropriate for the level of technical assistance needed.)
    Thanks.

What format are the files? I'm guessing that you have mpeg2 video and PCM audio... These are pretty standard formats for any tool for creating DVDs, except of course iDVD. If you have mpeg2 files, your best bet would be to get the a higher-quality quicktime, since even if you use a third party tool to re-mux the audio and video, and export it to some other quicktime format, the media will have been compressed, converted, and re-compressed by the time iDVD puts it on a disc, which not only means quality loss, but also high potential for "glitchy" playback.
I never use iDVD, because I have DVDSP. But I checked the manual and it says it definitely does not support mpeg2, which seems very strange to me. There may be enother tool you can use such a toast to make the DVD, but your best bet is to either use DVDSP with the files you have, or get new quicktime files (which might be hard) to use in iDVD.

  • Can audio/video files not cached be downloaded somehow?

I know it's been extremely difficult to find cached audio/video files since Firefox changed how cache works, but I used to be able to find them with IE. Since I had to upgrade IE, and Adobe Flash player, I'm not finding audio files from a site that used to be stored on the PC. I've tried IEcacheview, and various addons for Firefox, but nothing works. Any notions on how to get the files cached? I dont want to record them.

rmcguigan, as I already said, websites are doing this intentionally to prevent files from being stored our PCs - why would you email them about it???
I tried several cacheviewer-type apps before posting here; and you already mentioned Cacheviewer. If you tried it with that website, you'd know it doesnt work.
cor-el, streaming media files have been stored in temp internet folder before. There's something different going on where the files arent being allowed to be stored now - I'm thinking it's the new Adobe flashware.

  • How can I combine two video files into one finished file?

I'm making a video of a guitar player.  I'm using two cameras simultaneously.  One gives the overall wide shot, and the other is zoomed in on his hands.  Both cameras run at the same time.  I would like to use the wide shot as the main video, and occasionally fade in clips from the zoomed in shot to show details of his playing.  I can manually line up both files so they are synchronized.  How do I cut a clip out of the main (wide) shot, leave the gap there, and insert a clip from the closeup?  I'm putting the two video files on two of the video timelines and synchronizing them that way.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?

The effect you are looking for is 'Picture in Picture'. If you want the gap to be there for the duration of the timeline add some 'black video' - from the Tasks Pane> New Item - on the video track above the main track. Resize / position it to where you wish it to be.
Then with your second clip (now on video track 3)
Do the same sizing / positioning for it.
split video and audio and delete or disable the audio.
Cut it where you want the various start/ends of the fade to be.
Delete, or just disable (right-click) the unnecessary segments.
Apply fade in / out to the remaining segments.
    [EDIT]
Also check out the 'Presets' in Video Effects. There are a variety of PiP presets that may do what you need.

    hi,
Base on my experience, you could use azure storage reference sharepoint app. I suggest you could recommend this blog via (http://sachintana.blogspot.com/2012/08/azure-blob-storage-for-sharepoint.html ).

  • Issues relinking files in FCP X -original audio & video files not accepted

I have recently updated my FCP x to version 10.0.9. Most of my projects have updated fine and until I loaded them on another mac (I have the actual files on an external hard drive) today, I was able to work with them as before.
Something strange happened today - when I loaded one of my projects, it said that the audio tracks I had previously detatched in the timeline could not be found (although the video files were in the timeline as before, showing the audio track beneath). But whilst they were marked red, I could still play back the project and hear the audio playing.
I decided to re-link the project files, except for the first 5 clips which hadn't been affected by the 'loss' of audio. After relinking the files, the audio worked, but the video showed up all black. It turns out that Final Cut had moved all my 'faulty' video files into the trash, and just kept the audio from these files (though I don't know where as there were no audio files in the folder the video files had been moved from.
I decided to re-start my computer and Final Cut, and to re-link the files again. At this point Final Cut came up with an error message, saying that the files could not be re-linked as they contained audio, whereas the original files didn't (this is of course incorrect as these are exactly the same original video&audio files I filmed and imported weeks ago.
Please help me, I am very worried about losing my projects I have spent weeks on editing as I use Final Cut professionally.
    Many thanks in advance.

I have run into this kind of thing  before and I can only attribute it to a data base error on FCPx part. In my case the only solution I have found was to re-import the files again and then drag the newly imported file to the timeline. You may choose to Replace or you may delete the original section in the timeline and just place an appropriate length section in. You'll have to reestablish transitions and such.  There may be some other methods to deal with this kind of bug in FCPx but if there are I haven't found it. I have only encountered this kind of thing once or twice but I have found no way to ever get those files connected again and for FCPx to "see" things correctly.

  • Combine/Split Video files

What is the best way to combine or split video files?  I have found a third party program that will do this (ScenalzyerLive), but I would think that Adobe Premiere or Photoship could to this as well.  My understanding is that Premiere does not actually change the root file, which is what I want to do.  I am less concerned about using Premiere to create great videos to burn to a dvd than to quickly combine my short videos into one video file (i.e. 13th birthday).  Conversely, I would like to split my long videos that are 2 hours long from my old, old 1992 camcorder (Sony Video 8 TRV21 Handycam with .avi files) into much shorter segments.
With technology today, I think a lot of people simply want to combine and split videos instead of create great transitions from one scene to another.  Espceially now that you can use remote into your computer from your iphone to play videos (i.e through AirVideo).  Ease of finding relevant and organized clips is getting more important.

The reason I change the original file is that I can watch my videos from my
iPhone or iPad remotely (i.e. through the AirVideo app) in an organized
manner.  I currently have nearly a terabyte of video that obviously cannot
be stored on my iPhone or iPad.  Therefore,if I am away from my house and want
to show someone my child's soccer game, I don't like having to remote into my
home computer to play 30 clips (files), versus one clip (file) that was
combined.  I think with "the cloud" direction we are going, and more and more
    people watching videos remotely.
My editing of the original files is not extensive.  I simple cut out parts of
scenes I don't want, and combine others.  ScenalyzerLive 4.0 does this very
    well.
Since there is not an Adobe PRE app that allows me to watch videos remotely,
    this is the best alternative.

  • Trouble with seperate audio/video files in DVDSP -- please help!

When I import my quicktime files into DVDSP, they are automatically segmented into seperate files, and are both the same file size. So essentially my file is doubled, and this causes the total file size to be too large and will not burn. Has anyone else had this issue, and what can I do to remedy it?
for example: If I import a file that is 1.5gb into DVDSP, then in my asset window I have a video asset with a file size of 1.5gb and an audio track with a file size of 1.5gb. It is double the size of the orginal. There has to be a setting or something that I'm unaware of that will fix this.

    Thanks for your reply.
I know I need seperate video/audio files. My question is why the audio and video files are the same exact size. They are clearly not the same size in the original file. Im okay with DVDSP doing the compressing, Im not concerned with that. I need to be able to fit large amounts of video onto a DVD, but when I import files (ive tried many different file formats) they are enlarged.
Should I not be able to import a file that is 800mb and have it stay 800mb, or should I be using a different authoring software that will allow me to do that?
    Thanks for the help!

  • Sync audio+video files (=TB's) between Mac+PC

I used Chronosync for many years to keep our drives in sync at work+home, mirroring audio+video data
usually ranging in the 1/2 to 1TB, all on Mac drives.
Now we're moving to an AVID ISIS storage (networkable) and CS isn't able to understand the fact
that the ISIS doesn't keep MAC modification dates (for example) and wants to sync every file, all the time.
I've reached out to Econtechnologies but in the meantime, is there other software out there ?
Obviously cloud based solutions will not work, we'd need way to much space.
    Thanks,
    Benny.

    Hi Raoul,
Welcome To The Apple Discussion Pages.
If you mean you are trying to do Audio only chats with a PC which is using AIM 5.9 or 5.5 then it will not work.
The AIM application has never been able to do Audio Only chats to iChat
One end needs to have a camera (preferably the Mac end).
The PC end stilll needs to do the "Tuning" after getting to the Porperties.
They may also need to enable the application through the XP firewall.
And it goes without saying they have to be on XP.

  • Functionality for seeking media file(audio/video) files

    Hi
In my project my web-application initializes Quick Time media player
    for playing media files(audio/video).
My problem is when I drag my task bar on the media player my application could not play from that point. From the point I drag the bar my media player in web-application has to play from that point.
How can I write code in servlet for SEEKING FUNCTIONALITY.
    Thank U

If you uncheck a movie by its name it won't get listed on the tv. So there isn't actually any need to give the two versions of the same movie a different name.
So for the movie encoded for tv, check its name and it will appear on the tv.
For the movie encoded for ipod, uncheck its name so it won't appear on the tv and add it to a playlist for syncing with your ipod.

  • Can not find audio video file

I created a dvd proj. burned it to a disc. all worked very well. I copied the dvd. proj file to an external drive. Now when i access file i get an error message that it can not find two files. C audio and C video files.
    Any suggestions?

It created the DVD proj file ok and I could play it through dvd player and burned it to a disc. The problem occurred when I copied and pasted it to an external drive. When I open the dvd proj file on the external drive I get an error message that it can not find the audio and video file. It is looking for the file on the hard drive and not the external drive. i deleted the original dvd proj file on the hard drive.

  • Unable to play audio video files in solaris express

I am unable to play mp3 and avi files in my newly installed oracle solaris express. I have installed 'gnome-audio', 'gnome-media', 'gstreamer', 'gstramer/plugin/gnonlin' packages. I have even installed 'IPSFWmpeg' MPEG-1 liabrary from sunfreeware repository. All these softwares are shown as installed packages in my package manager. But still on playing any video in totem movie player or audio file in rhythmbox player, a dialog box with an error message is displayed "The playback of this movie requires a MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder plugin which is not installed".
What should i do to play avi files in Totem movie player and mp3 files in Rhythmbox music player? Please don't suggest other media players because i want to use only above said totem and rhythmbox and i want to know what's wrong with my software installations?

You can get a free MP3 codec from Fluendo (http://www.fluendo.com/shop/product/fluendo-mp3-decoder/). There are some instructions on setting it up here: http://blogs.sun.com/observatory/entry/playing_your_mp3s_with_songbird.

  • Can QT 7 pro isolate audio from combined audio/video tracks?

I just upgraded to Pro to try to convert small video clips (.mov files) taken on an HP digital camera into an iMovie-compatible format- they will play fine in QT (both audio and video), but there is no separate audio track. No matter what format I save the clips in, they lose the audio portion. Can QT or iMovie solve this?
    G4 tower   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

It sounds (no pun intended) like the file format from your camera is MPEG-1 (muxed). QT can play but not export or convert the audio. Same with iMovie.
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert your .mpg files to QT formats.

    This is the ANNOUNCEMENT:
ANNOUNCEMENT: Windows Update Causes Half of Display to Be Blacked Out
    Hide Details
MicroSoft has issued an Update for Windows, that is causing problems with Displays. The following is from Talbot McInnis, who tracked down this problem, and offers a fix:
"MS bulliten MS13-057.  Specifically, on XP kb2834904 and on windows 7 kb2803821 is causing a problem
For us, it occurs when decoding WMV9 files.  Not all uses of WMV decoding are affected, but I confirmed that when connecting the WMV decode DLL to a sample grabber for RGB32 video, the frames arrive black on top, so that points directly to decoding internals of the WMV Decode dll.
You can uninstall these windows updates to resolve your problem."
There are several threads on the problem that this Update is causing on the PrE and PrPro Forums, so one can get more details. So far, there is not another fix from either MS, or Adobe.
