Combining Video Clips

Hi. Is there anyway to merge several short video clips together into one video for posting on Youtube? Something similar to the Flip Video software perhaps? A simple interface that would merge the video clips together with a simple transition?
Please let me know if this is possible - either on the iPhone itself or by off loading the videos somehow and then combining the videos with another program.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My first attempt would be to use
cat
in the terminal
See if the output file works. If it does, it's the simplest way.

  • How to combine video clips into one video clip using FCPX

I typed this into the search engine but could not come up with anything. How do you combine Video clips into one Video clip using FCPX? Thanks in advance.
    Gar

The simple answer is to put the clips together in a project in the desired order and export (oops, the new word is share [YUK!]) a master file.
But maybe you should say a little more about the clips to determine whether the answer I've given is relevant to yor situation.

  • Audio from video clips

I tried combining video clips into one movie through imovie, the video was there but not the audio from the clips. What can I do to fix this?

The conversions played sound in QT, but no sound in the editor... What can I do so I don't lose the audio?
Open the Event file(s) with the QT Player and check the "Inspector" window to make sure the file, as imported to iMovie '08, still has its audio track in tact. If it does and the missing audio is limited to scrubbing Event files, check the audio switch under the preview window to see if it is off. If no audio is present in normal playback/preview mode, then thumbnails could be bad and you might try re-thumbnailing the events. If the problem is on the project side, try duplicating the project and see if the duplicate has sound. If you still don't have audio, try trimming the duplicate project to a very short sequence and exporting it to see if the output has audio. This assumes you have audio everywhere else and it is not a system wide problem like muting, system sample rate switched to a different setting, system volume turned down, etc...

  • Sync multiple video clips with one audio track

I'm an FCPX noob, trying to sync some clips.  I recorded a 1.5 hour concert with a DSLR along with an audio track using a separate digital recorder.  I have seven video clips, all in sequence (stopping and restarting the camera because of clip length limitations) and one long audio track in WAV format.  The audio track is longer than the combined video clips, and there are some short dead spaces in between the video clips when I turned off/on.  Now I'm trying to sync them but when I do, the video clips get stacked together with lots of overlap.
I made a test with 3 minute video and audio clips and had no problem.  But when I try to do the whole event, I get a jumbled mess.
I could cut the audio into pieces and sync each piece with its corresponding video, but that seems to defeat the sync process, as well as being a lot of work.  And, wouldn't I end up with lots of overlap anyway, since my audio clips would have to be longer than my video clips?
Am I missing an easier way to do this, or a way to arrange things better?  I can't imagine the problems with several cameras and several audio tracks; my project is actually pretty simple, since it is very linear.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks--

Sorry to take so long getting back to you.  Thank you for this advice, but I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly.  Is there a way to set the angle on all of the clips at the same time?
Yes. Select all the clips you want in the browser, and then in the inspector fill in the camera angle with the value you want. This can be just about anything, it does not have to be a number. I prefer to name  it something meaningful, like "wide" or something.

  • How do you combine videos from different cameras

    Hi there,
I would like to be able to combine video clips taken of the same event with different cameras in such a way that they all share the same audio.
I have recorded my daughter's entire theater play with a camera in the back of the hall connected directly to the theater's audio equipment. Thus, I have the entire audio in high quality in one huge clip. Then I and a couple of other parents have recorded the play with a number of additional cameras. I would now like to put together a project with video clips from the other cameras using the audio of the first. Obviously, the timing is critical here.
How can I replace part of just the video of a clip with the video of another clip without affecting the audio and making sure that the part that I replace is of the exact same length as the part I insert? How can I then finetune the location of the replacing part so that it fits to the audio?
Thank you very much for any help you can provide.
    Best regards,
    Marcus

    Hi AppleMan,
this is also a very helpful hint, thanks!
This has been quite an experience and wasn't as easy as I had hoped. May I add two additional hints in the hopes that someone else will find them useful:
    * When taping an event with several cameras make sure that all cameras are set to the same time. This makes iMovie sort them in roughly the right order and makes it much easier to find the clips you want.
    * When trying to overlay one short clip over another longer one (using the audio of the longer clip) it is helpful to have several extra frames on the left and right of the clip. With the "Trim" menu item one can then more precisely determine exactly which part of the clip to insert. With the Shift-Arrow Keys one can then easily shift the entire clip by individual frames without changing the length of the clip.
    Best regards,

  • Streaming stills and video clips

    Dear all,
I have a basic question about QuickTime streaming: Is it possible to
combine video clips (video & audio) and sound files (audio only) in a
single stream (or playlist) ? The problem is that the video (obviously)
will be missing when we stream audio clips. So we had the idea to use
some sort of poster frame that shows an image while the audio file
is being played back. Is this possible ? A workaround would be streaming
a full video (freeze frame) that accompanies the audio. But this seems to
be the worst solution. So is there a way to send just a single
frame (photo) to the QuickTime player, that stays on the screen as long as
the audio is being played back ?
Thanks a lot for your help !

    Sonic007, welcome to these discussions.
All you need to do is add your image track to the audio track (scaled). This new .mov file needs "hint tracks" (required for streaming).
The "Save Copy as Hinted" AppleScript will add the hint tracks without requiring an export (which would reduce the quality).
Downloaded them (free) from this link:

In the iMovie 11 event library, how can I get the iPhoto video clips to combine with my camcorder pics listed below and in chronological order?

Try forcing iPhoto to load the Library on the External Hard drive by launching it while holding down the Option key. Choose the Library on the External HD, and quit iPhoto, see if iMovie can see the Library with the iPhoto Videos contained inside.

  • Newbie trying to combine multiple clips on one video file for iDVD

I just bought my Mac and and starting to make home videos. I have 20 .mov clips I imported from my HDD camcorder into the events section on Imovie 08. I could not find a way to combine these clips on Imovie 08 into one large clip. I imported these movies to iDVD in attempt a uninterupted movie. I have not found a way to do this. All I can do is add the the clips into a chapter screen, but then each clip stops after it end. How can I combine these .mob clips in either iMovie, iDVD, or any other software program that came with a normal Mac book?

I am not familiar with iMovie 08, but I am with the HD6 version. This is the one that you will be able to download using the link provided by SDMacuser.
You can use iMovie HD6 to combine your clips into a movie that will either play straight through or stop at the end of each clip if you wish. First, import your clips into iMovie to create your new movie project. Add audio, titles, effects, etc., and, if desired, chapter markers. Chapter markers will give you the option to advance to different parts of your movie, like a scene selection menu.
From iMovie Help, *Setting Chapter Markers*:
    To set chapter markers:
Move the playhead to the point at which you want to start a new chapter.
IMPORTANT: You cannot add a chapter marker to the very beginning or end of your movie. (iMovie HD automatically adds an initial chapter marker at the beginning of a movie.) It's also a good idea not to add a chapter marker within a transition, or within one second of a transition or other chapter marker. If you do so, other applications may have trouble recognizing the chapter markers.
Click the Chapters button, and then click Add Marker.
Tip: To quickly add a chapter marker, you can also choose Markers > Add Chapter Marker.
Type a chapter title next to the thumbnail that appears in the Chapters pane.
    Good luck.

  • Can I combine still slides and video clips in a presentation?

I have just returned from a safari and have a lot of pictures and videos from the trip.  I would like to create a presentation/slide show that will show the slides and also videos in the same slide show and allow me to manually pace the show.  I know how to do this in PowerPoint but would rather use a more natice mac ap and thought it might be possible in iMovie or iPhoto but am not sure exactly what the best way to do this would be.

You can of course combine stills and videos in an iMovie project.  You would have to manually stop and start the resulting video to  "pace the show'.  You could of course put blank stills or something similar in the video as a guides where to pause.  iMovie has the advantage that you can do more with the video clips such as camera shake removal.

  • How to combine 4 angle shots into a single video clip

First of all, I am very much a novice in video editing and have yet to try Adobe Premiere.
I am working on a video project which will film a single subject from 4 different angles:  front, back, left and right.
I would like to create a video clip which shows all 4 angle shots playing at the same time.  Basically the video has 4 quadrants with each quadrant playing one of the angles.
Is this possible to do in Adobe Premiere?  Any references or instructions?

  • I want to copy video, cutaways and audio combined and use in another project. So far I can only copy the video clip or one of the other elements at a time. How do I group all of them?

I want to group my  video clip with its audio and cutaway clips so that I can copy the segment and move it to another project. So far I can only move one element at a time. How can I group all the elements?

You can select multiple objects in the timeline in the usual Mac way - hold down the shift key while you click on the objects then copy, select other project, position playhead where you want to insert then paste.

That's also known as 'Brady Bunch Effect', named after a TV-show's intro, showing 9 people in 9 'frames':
    • get familiar with the crop and transform tools of FCPX:
    http://help.apple.com/finalcutpro/mac/10.0.6/?lang=en-us#verfc8a4713
    • in your case, stack (=not in a row, but over each other) the 4 clips into the timeline
    • resize and replace each clip to any position
Suggestion: aside plain 'grab'n drag', the Info board allows numerical input - which gives each 'frame' its precise same size and position…

  • Trying to combine audio from a video clip with a photo

Is there a way to allow the audio of a video clip to continue, while the visual is changed? I'm trying to insert a photo to replace the last few seconds of a video as the song in the video finishes.

Not at the moment. Hopefully at some point they will add a feature to independently trim the audio and video to allow this type of edit, otherwise known as an L cut.

  • How to combine several small video clips of different size?

The first 4 segments I added were all the same size, as far as length and width. However, my last segment was slightly larger. My whole video clip now as big black areas when the smaller segments are play, and then when it gets to the 5th segment, it perfectly fills the QuickTime window. So how do I tell that 5th segment to reduce in size so that it matches the others? Does this make sense?
    Thanks!

Open your file with QuickTime Pro and then open the Movie Properties window.
Highlight your "oversized" video track (single click on it) and then click the Visual Settings tab.
Reduce its dimensions to match your other video track sizes.
Save As to make a new self contained file.

We have about 3000 sequenced photos we want to put together into a Stop Motion video. We would also like to add an actual video clip to the beginning and to the end of the Stop Motiuon segment. Can this all be done in Premiere Pro? If so how? If not - what other Creative Cloud programs should we use and how?
