Comcast connection.watching TV through 2012 IMAC 27, is that possible?

Would like to know what is required to connect to Comcast cable connector, currently have a cable wire to the computer , but DVR is in another room.

While there are devices to convert HDMI to mini-displayport as mentioned in that article, no matter what they say, don't get your hopes up of connecting a cable company settop box to your imac, if these devices are legal that is.
Two possible reasons why this cannot be done. First is because of HDCP compliance. And if you can get around that the second one you cannot because you cannot attach a mini-displayport source to a thunderbolt imac (presumably running in target display mode).
You could, however, look at the Elgoato products to allow HD input to your imac from an over the air antenna or Elgato's sevice. The best you can hope for from your set top box is non-HD component, composite, or s-video. Elgato also makes products for that.

Normally an Elements purchase is good for both platforms. You should only need to download and install the Mac versions of the programs and install and activate them using the serial number you have from the opriginal purchase.

Can't connect Canon HV20 to 2012 IMac

I have a Canon HV20 that my 2012 Imac will not recongnize. I'm using a 4pin to 9pin cable and the thunderbolt adapter. In system info under Firewire I get

Any ideas?

Went to radio shack and got a new cable, works fine now. The first cable was a Rocketfish cable. I guess it's a known issue with HV20 and the thunderbolt adapter that these cables have problems.

You would need a display port to HDMI adapter. One of the newer features (which the 2012 iMac has) is that it can display this type of content like a DVD player to the iMac.

Use the above link to review that item. It also has a DVI adapter that you would not use. But the display port to HDMI is the correct item. Then you connect the PS3 to the hdmi on it. I don't think it would passthrough audio though so you would have to figure something out for sound.

Unable to connect to Netflix through Apple TV (ATV-ui62)

I can connect to Netflix through my iMac but unable to connect via ATV, any suggestions? I've done both hard and soft resets of ATV to no avail and rebooted router. I have a 3rd Generation ATV.

I have the same issue, but I'm not using a VPN. I can also watch netflix on my Macbook Pro or on my iPad Air. If I try to Airplay netflix from my iPad to the AppleTV (2d gen) it will pop up a message saying an error has occurred, I can though, Airplay through my Macbook but only because I'm using the browser to stream the Netflix content.
Maybe it is the Geographical thing.

No. Your iMac only has DVI video connection. You would need an iMac with Thunderbolt.

Depends which iMac exactly and your network setup, you can go into System Preferences and under the Sharing pane you can enable internet sharing from ethernet (or whereever you get your internet from) to Wi-Fi.

Looks like you plan to use ps as a transport and iMac as an external display? First of all you need Hdmi to Display port converter or cable. The rest should be easy.

There is a good chance the printer is just getting auto IP internally..
Plug it into your TC. And then set to dhcp via the controls on the printer.
If you know the name of the printer it should be immediately available to the network.. but anyway, you can find its IP by printing out the test page. That will also give you the network name.
Most later HP printers have web access to the print servers.. just type the ip into your browser and see if it comes up.
From the Mac, you should then be able to set it up via the printer preferences. Most HP will just appear.. but if not you should perhaps delete the local version and then check again for network printers.

I have a wireless router in one room that has the only phone jack in my house. In another room, I have an iMac running Leopard and an eMac running Panther. The iMac is connected to the Internet via the wireless router. Is there a way to hook up the eMac to the Internet THROUGH the iMac? Like with an Ethernet cable and internet sharing, or something like that? I don't want to buy an Airport card or a USB internet stick if I don't have to.

My eMac is wired via ethernet direct into my Airport Base Station router, and then my MacBookPro and Powerbook connect to the Airport via wireless...
So, yes, you could plug the eMac into the router via ethernet.
But yes also, you should be able to connect both Macs via ethernet, tell the iMac to allow "Internet Sharing" (and choose Ethernet in the list), and then go online on the eMac...
