Comment based help, .link online version

Hello,
Sorry for what's probably a very stupid question but I'm banging my head against the wall. I'm trying to add a link to .LINK so that it appears as Online Version:
https://www.somesite.com like with what you see with Get-Help Get-Service in related links.
I can get it to work just by doing the below but it won't work with the online switch with get help. Any light to shine on the subject? The error I get is "The online version of this help topic cannot be display because the internet address (URI) of the
help topic is not specificied in the command code or in the help file for the command. I can fix it but just leaving the address there and taking out "Online Version".

Hi SysNetEng,
this is due to the difference between XML based help and Comment Based Help (CBH). In the XML version a link has two properties (linkText and uri), while in CBH you only have the option to provide text. Get-Help -Online will interprete the first line in
its entirety as its target uri, and if that's not a valid one ...
So if you want this optic, you'll have to go to XML based help.

Why don't our links work in browser based help?

We are using RH8, Windows 7 and outputting to browser based AIR help.
We cannot get our links to work in browser based air help. These are links between projects. Links within projects work fine.
We output our help and it worked fine on our test system. We tested it on another system and it worked fine.
However, when we attached it to our application, the links between projects did not work.
We think it might have something to do with the address, which looks something like this
http://199.166.111.177/smartc/smartsol/mgproj/ etc. etc.
When we set up the links they were set to something like this
../../../smartc/smartsol/mgproj/ etc. etc.
We are thinking this might be the problem.
Our question is - is there a universal naming convention that will allow us to publish our help anywhere.
We don't put our help on a server and have people access it that way. We provide the help file and let the user put it anywhere they want.
I may not be saying this correctly.
any help is appreciated.

I'm having a similar problem, if I understand the original question, in accessing my AIR help from a server ...
Background:
In RH8 html, I've been creating a Web Help project have successfully integrating it into our product for a couple of years now (thanks to all on the forum who've helped me with bugaboos along the way, Peter et al!). The project is bundled in with our software and pushed out to our hardware device (let's call it a router) and the user can access their router's UI via a custom path and use the help when needed from their home network and remotely.
Today I've been looking at changing over to an AIR help end product to replace the Web Help project. In my initial tests, using the exact same project I'm using for the Web Help, when I push the AIR help out to my test bed I see a blank page when I access it. I'm using the same path and same files and have flushed my browser cache. When I build it, it is set as a "Browser Based Help". My thinking is something along the lines of certificates / security etc. but don't know and don't see a setting.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Update:
I may have a solution ... a developer noticed that in one of the .js files a file names "AC_OETags.js" was listed with caps. If you are running apache on your server it will not like the capitalization in referenced in the file (the actual name of the file can have caps). Once the link to the file was made lower case the help system worked as designed.

Customize portal "Help" link based on user roles

Is there a chance to customize the Help link URL in Masthead iView based on user roles? The use case we have is that the "Help" should be different for users of the purchasing company from those of the supplying company.

This is a multi step process.
Step 1 : Create 2 desktops with everything as same but different mastheads.
- Copy your existing desktop and paste it in your working folder in PCD (Not select Delta link)
- Now download masthead par file.
- Modify your masthead par file where you will disable help link. Rename you masthead file (newMasthead.par) and export it from NWDS. Now import it in portal.
- open your framework page in desktop2. Just add your new masthead in it. Enable the new one and disable the existing one.
Step 2 : Create 2 groups of users. (First one belong to users who wish to see help link . i.e existing desktop) (Second of thoese users who do not have to see help link i.e. newDesktop)
- Assign users to appropriate groups.
- Assign same roles to both groups.
Step 3 : Modify main rule section in PCD.
- If group = HelpLinkUsers Then Desktop1
If group = NoHelpLinkUsers Then Desktop2.
You may find above process bit tedious and lengthy.
But if you wish to further customize your portal then this will be needed one day.
If you find problems in implementing any step then please search in google or SDN.
Please revert back on any specific question on above approach you may face while implementing.

Search Help in online adobe form WDABAP

Hi,
How to get F4 help in online adobe form? If the values are maintined in the domain then in the form Im able to see all the values by using Enumarated drop down. But if for the particular filed any Value Table is assigned , then how to get those values in F4 of Adobe form? It can be done by binding to UI elemtn or Do I need to do any coding for getting this?
Actually I have gone through few links in SDN but Im not clear. Im not working on ISR. It is a normal BAPI and adobe form is designed based on that BAPI and form is ZCL type.

My client installed Portal version 3.0.8.9.8 on Sun solaris.
When I click the Help Link (the "?") in the Portal Home Page, I got the following error:

If it gets far enough to reject your serial number, it won't help to download it. It must have installed ok.
What is the message you get (DON'T tell us the serial number!!)?
Does it mention a "qualifying product" by any chance?

I lost my tool bar on top. I no longer can see the Bookmarks, Tools, or Help links. Where are they and how can I reset them? I had them at first but now I don't see them.

Event Log Help Links No Longer Working?

Have the help links in the Windows XP event log entries been discontinued?
They used to open up the Help and Support Center with further information about the Event Log error if it was available.
For some time now they have all just given a "page not found" error, which then re-directs to Bing with offered results that are no use at all!
This happens now on every XP system I've tried it on.
As a user of Windows 8.1 as well as XP, I'm well aware that the Windows 8 Event Log help links have never worked so far, but the XP ones always did, and despite the looming "End of Support" I can see no reason for all that information to have been
removed.
Any explanation for this?

Hi - thank you DaveHawley for the report. Just wanted to confirm that I've passed this on to the team that looks after the redirect service behind the "More Info" link.
There have been some major changes in how this redirection works over the years as well as in the last months. The most recent efforts added the option to enable use of the TechNet Wiki [sample]
to allow the community to comment & contribute for a given component. I'm only guessing here, but this might have accidentally impacted XP.

Usage of CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN SAP Help Link and Suggestions Required

Currently we are using function module crm_order_maintain outside Loop i.e calling once for all the contracts as sap crm performance standard ,
Is there any standard documentation where we can find that states CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN should be only used outside loop,
As some are telling us to use in Loop Endloop because of timeout error in background job with contract having 180 line items,Which i feel that this create unneccessary load on execution (Not Recommendable)
Please share any comments and suggestion this and also provide me the SAP Help Link on this

Reports based on Linked Universes in BOXI 3.0 do not work

We have noticed that reports based on linked Universes do not work. We have imported our (BO) documents/Universes into the BOXI R2 environment, upgraded to BOXI 3.0 and now found this issue in InfoView which affects a lot of our reports, details as follows:
When refreshing a (Deski) report in InfoView, get a dialogue box titled "Refreshing Data" with no error message;
Click on OK, and it seems the report does not get refreshed;
Click on Refresh again, this time get prompt dialogue box;
Enter prompt, click on Run Query;
Get another dialogue box titled "Prompts" with message "SetPrompts failed - click on OK;
Click on a TAB in the report - get error message, title "Report" with message "The document instance is no longer available. Please reopen the document (Error:RFC 00421);
Click on OK it throws you out of the report and takes you back to the document list;
Try another report:
Click on Refresh Data;
Error message - title "Refreshing Data", message "Cannot load linked universes. (UNV0011) - click on OK;

Just tried to install FireFox and it did not work as my OS(mac) is compatible. now i dont have firefox. can you point me to a link for version 3.6.24 please

Issue in using ADF Instructions based help

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0 and i am using ADF Instructions based help for fields . By default it is displaying first the description of the field and then followed by the field name provided but as per my requirement it should be the vice versa - First the field name and then the description of the field. How do i achieve the same.

I am new to Robo Help. I have created a Robo help for my Java Web Applicaion. My application is role base i.e some user's will not see some of the pages of the application. So I want to hide those pages in Robo help as well. I tried creating multiple TOC for different Roles.
My Question is
How to call robo Help from my application?(I will be calling using java script. If it is with RoboHelp_CSH.js where can I get that and How to implement it in my project)

I answered that. My point in asking whether it matters was that if it does, then you cannot use content categories and point different users to different categories and not allow them to see the others.
The alternative, as I said, would be to produce different outputs for each role.
As it does matter, then using webhelp you will have to use your RoboHelp project to produce a number of outputs, one for each category. Your app would install each webhelp into different folders and when your app determines the user role, you will link to the appropriate help.
There is another thread running where it has been explained by Willam van Weelden that you can achieve what you want using browser based AIR help. If that form of help can be considered, then the thread is at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4914753?tstart=0#4914753
Browser based AIR help must be run from a web server. It cannot be installed locally.
