Comments on the Audigy 2

This post is to all the whiners and complainers regarding the Aud 2 zs. I purchased this card recently and I must say it is truely awesome. It replaced an Audigy 2 Platinum that I thought was excellent. Creative raised the standard in PC sound with the Aud2 zs, and yes the drivers are written correctly.
This card performs superbly in my high end self built system. There is no need as some suggest in
this forum to load third party drivers, enable this disable that, reinstall this reinstall that.
Do a little research (READ) on Creative's support site regarding installation procedures and browse other
forums to see what other people did to insure a smooth installation. Anyway, this is what I did and hope
it could help someone out there:
a. Go into Add/Remove Programs and remove anything that says creative(do not reboot).
b. When this is done go into system properties and enter device hardware. Scroll down to sounds, media click on and remove anything with the creative name on it(now you can reboot)
c. Go get a program( I use system mechanic) and clean out your registry and remove any uninstallers/installers, junk files, broken shortcuts anything in your system that you don need. When thats done go into run type misconfig and and enter your startup. What most people don't realized this is
what causes most problems with sound and video cards. Too many sytem resources are being used on
startup. Disable what your system really doesn't need on startup i.e., AOL,Microsoft Office and etc.....
You will be suprised how fast your system will boot after this is done. Go slow and please remember
what you disabled so if there are any problems you can enable that particular item(Don't forget to reboot
once you are finish)
d. Go to Radio Shack and spend a couple of bucks on a anti-static wrist strap. This might sound geekish
but this inexpensi've item could save you alot of grief and money. Static is a killer of sound cards, video
cards and motherboards.
e. Now power down anything thats plugged into your computer. Lastly power down your computer;
unplug and remove the power cord(Don't forget to wear your anti-static wrist strap). Now open your
computer and remove/install old/new sound card. This is a good time to use a compressed can of
dust remover.
f. After everything is assembled get the Driver CD that came in your retail box and place it in your optic dri've(Now Bootup). After windows acknowledges your hardware let it do its thing. Once thats finished
click on full/custom install. I always use custom. This way I install only the programs that I will actually use or need.
g. Before you attempt to use this card please read Creative's help section. Once thats done test your
system. Its all provided in the Creative Program. Once thats done now you can configure your speakers
i.e. 5.,6., and 7..
I have installed six(6) of these cards in friends and family computers and never a problem. So far as
conflicts with Nvidia chipsets I cannot elaborate whereas I only use Intel.
Finally, do yourself a favor and download winamp and let this puppy ROARRRR.

So you must be more a expert than all other here that you call "whinners"and you can sort all their pcs out i take it, as there is nothing wrong with the creative drivers/apps for ZS cards, is this correct ?
Everyone here that has issues with ZS is in the wrong and it may be nvidia chipsets on their mobos like my NF2 ?, aswell as that intel user i told to turn of HT (amd patent 2002) to make card work.
Im happy for you fact that your happy but its fact that the ZS support in drivers/apps is rubbish or else noone would be here as we all be happy gamming / listening to music, i for one am as happy as i could be on ZS due to this >>>> http://driverheaven.net/showthread.p...644&page=&pp=5
I have owned all but the not so good audigy card (as it wasnt true 24bit and i skipped) from creative so i think im kinda in bit of know how of their support and long waits from new product till getting acceptable drivers/apps, try 2 years + for li've 5. player from launch.
Your info isnt gonna help users who fully formated the pc with ZS and only have o/s mobo and gpu and CREATIVES drivers intalled and it still is rubbish even before they install rest of their software inc antivirus etc, fact is the software isnt 00%, may be less troubleson on some set up and more on others to do with hardware and"OTHER" installed software.
3rd party would be KX Project drivers that i aint ever used but read were good for music not games as no EAX, the above drivers/apps are from Creative for Audigy 4 pro (but fixed), you would be able to install the entertainment centre as you got PLAT and a remote :smileytongue:
BTW i build and fix pc for 4 years and i never use antistatic strap and if you ask in most shops they laugh at you .
It makes me laugh the st time posters that know it all, most us have been here years.
BTW ICE, can you play your dvd audio sample dvd without it makeing noises like a cat be stangled ?.
