Communication error with Epson R2880 printer using Snow Leopard 10.6.4

I am having trouble printing with my Epson R2880 printer on my Mac Pro running OS X 10.6.4 with the most recent software updates. The printer prints about a quarter of the print and then quits giving a "Communication error" message. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer and downloading the latest driver form Epson. My other printer, a cheap Canon printer, works fine on the computer with 10.6.4 and the R2880 printer works fine with my old G5 running 10.4.11. Any ideas?

Thanks John. I tried deleting the Epson printer folder from the library like you said and then checked for Software Updates. But Apple did not indicate that there were any for my OS (probably because I had installed the latest OS update this morning). So I installed the driver from the Epson site with the printer folder removed. But this did not work because when I tried to print the computer indicated that there were missing files. So, I reinstalled the Epson folder that I had just moved to trash, deleted the new Epson folder, then tried reinstalling the Epson driver with the original folder in place. THIS WORKED! Finally, I am off and printing but with little knowledge gained about the inner workings of my computer.

  • Communication Error with Epson 1400 on Airport

    Hey all,
I have my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 connected to my Airport and it used to work just fine under Tiger. Now I keep getting communication errors. The printer dialog finds the printer and says, "Printer is now on-line," but then there is a moment of pause and then the message "Communication Error" pops up under "Printer is now on-line."
My Epson R340, also connected to my Airport works just fine (although I did have to re-install it after upgrading to Leopard...thanks Steve).
I have downloaded the latest drivers from the Epson site. I deleted the printer from the print list and added it again.
    It didn't work. Any ideas.

I, too, have the same problem with Epson Picturemate Deluxe and Leopard. Sorry no solution but maybe more details of the problem will help to find a solution.
USB printing works fine but communication error occurs after a few seconds of printing via airport, almost as if there is an overflow of data. During USB printing, the printer pauses for a fraction of a second after printing about 20% of the file but then continues. It seems to do this in increments of 20% but always reaches the end. This was the same under Tiger. Under airport, it does not seem to continue after the first 20% of the file.
Epson claims Leopard comes with updated drivers. They are also available for download from Epson Europe (v. 3.09 for Picturemate but Picturemate Deluxe is not indicated)

  • Communication error with Epson Stylus C63 with Airport Express

I have a brandnew iMac running 10.5.2. Set up my Airport Express and got the wifi to work in the house. Now I am dealing with remote printing. Printer is plugged into the port on the Airport Express, I see it in the Printer tab of Aiport Utility, I see it in the printer dialogue... but whenever I print I get "communication error with printer". I have unplugged the Airport Express, restarted computers, to no avail.
What am I missing?? Thanks in advance for any tips.
    -Joanna

I solved this problem! After lots of searching I ended up at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5692363 Printer setup utility in Leopard which gave the tip to reset the printing system... I did, and then somehow the Epson printer showed up as a Bonjour printer (which I had tried to do in the Airport utility but it would not let me because the name was too short or something strange like that). PageSender Fax showed up also and I just printed a document remotely...
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • Communication error with epson artisan 1430 printer

I used to be a Windows pc owner, and never had an issue with my Epson Artisan 1430 printer - Now i have a Macbook (OS X Yosemite 10.10.2) and my printer decides to have a communication error 1/3 the way through printing something .... I have used the Reset Printing System, I have deleted and reinstalled all software and drivers ... I don't know what else to do. My Printer is on a network so i can connect wirelessly .... Please if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it...

Most likely, the printer's Wi-Fi interface is malfunctioning or misconfigured, or else there is a bug in the software. Since this is a current-model printer, your next step should be to contact EPSON support.

  • Communication error with Epson printer SX510W

I am getting a communication error when I try to print on my Epson SX510W  wrieless printer.  How do I correct this? My operating system is OS X Version 10.9.4.
I've tried re-installing the software from the CD-Rom but it won't let me use the Quick Start, It lets me download the print driver and scan driver from the list of software on the disc but that hasn't made any difference.  I think it's a problem with the printer and the IP address, how do I correct this.  How do I find the correct IP address on the printer?
Sometimes if I turn the printer off and on again, it allows me to print just one page and then stops again.

  • Communication Error with Epson R2400

I have an Intel Mac running Leopard and Photoshop CS3 and despite the latest driver from Epson my printer will start to print a photo and then stop due to a communication error. I checked the cables, tried printing different photos. Sometimes it will stop near the beginning of a print, sometimes halfway through, sometimes near the end. My printer worked fine with my 4 year old laptop running Tiger and stopped a half hour later with my new machine. Anybody else have this and perhaps an answer?

Just finished a 30 minute tech support call with an upper division rep at Epson, we seem to have fixed the problem, I was very skeptical, but so far all is well. This is exactly what we did:
Go to you user account and navigate to:
Library->Preferences. Select everything that starts with "com.apple.print" (I had nine files) Copy these files to a safe place, they contain customization to you r print settings such as paper handling and quality settings.
Now delete the ones from the Library->Preferences folder.
Go to your main hard drive, not your user account, and select "Library->Printers"
    Delete "Epson"
    Empty Trash
    Reboot
Install the latest driver from Epson for your printer.
Open the "Print & Fax" System Preference
While holding down the "control" key, click in the area where the printers are listed (left side bar). You will be presented with a pop-up menu that says: "rest printing system". Select it and your existing printers will disappear.
Add your printer back to the "Printers" list.
Close the "Print & Fax" window
Add your saved "com.apple.print" files back to the User->Library->Preferences folder
    Cross your fingers.
James at Epson asked that I not use this number, which I posted earlier for future requests.

  • Communication error with Epson 2400

I am trying to use my Epson 2400 printer with my MacBook and my MacPro, both using Leopard (10.5.5) and connecting by FireWire. When I try to print a photo from PS CS2 with the MacPro, I get a dialog box in the printer application stating that there's a communication error, and the job doesn't print. When I restart the printer and the computer, the same job will start to print, but halt partway through, again with a "communication error". If I then try to print again without restarting, the job won't even start to print. I have to restart the computer, with the same results all over again.
Printing works fine from the laptop using PS Elements. I don't have Elements on the MacPro or CS2 on the laptop. I also have not tried connecting the MacPro by USB, but I shouldn't have to do this.
    Any guidance?
    Thanks,

  • Communication error with epson R24000

I have spent two days trying to network my Epson Photo R2400 to my imac via an airport express.
I upgraded the epson software and have managed to get the printer recognised. However, when I send a print job I get a 'communication error' and the print stops at the first line.
I have tried a couple of fixes including following the advice here - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107418
    I'd appreciate any other help.
    Thanks

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at the following site: iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility List
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.

  • Problem with HP 2100 printer under Snow Leopard

I am sorry for me bad english..........I have HP 2100 TN and I have very big problem always. I was try various solutions form net- from direct HP web page - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&obje ctID=c01844302 and from another users also - for example from this : http://www.mariasguides.com/2009/09/03/using-an-hp-laserjet-2100tn-with-snow-leo pard/
But none solution is not function in me comp. I am desperate..... Al another printers in me home are without problems, but this HP 2100 not. I find any working solutions 2 days, I was try reinstall all, but not, not, not ..... Can you help me any ? Or I will be must buy any another printer ?........Thank you in advance. ([email protected])

    Jirka,
First, don't worry about your English, its good enough for me to understand what is wrong. Most likely the problem is what hamiller described, but let me try to expand on it.
Apple dropped support for AppleTalk in Snow Leopard. That means the mechanism you were using to discover and setup your printer no longer works under 10.6. What you need to do is find out the IP address of your LaserJet 2100TN and add the printer queue directly using HP JetDirect - Socket. That option shows up under the IP button in Add Printer.
In order to find out the IP address of your printer, the easiest thing to do is print the Self Test Page (Simultaneously press GO and JOB CANCEL). If the Self Test page doesn't give you an IP address, now you're off in the weeds of JetDirect land. Specifically your printer includes printer an EIO Slot for HP JetDirect 600 N print servers. I really don't know much about them, but if you are still having problems post back here and I'll try to find somebody that does.
And note, that if the IP address in your printer makes no sense to the router you are currently connected to, just because you have the IP address, the printer still won't print. In any event if you can't get things working, please also post the IP address the Printer thinks it has.
    Just trying to help.
    Andrew

  • ICal and Address book will not print using Snow Leopard

I have had several issues resulting in my having to re-install Snow Leopard several times. Currently all the issues are resolved, but now I have a new issue. The printer and PDF functions will not work. I dread having to reinstall Snow Leopard AGAIN. What is the deal?

This issue was resolved, thanks to a call to Apple Care support. Simply uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer driver fixed the problem. This may be necessary after another printer driver update.

  • Error with Epson AcuCX11NF printer

I just installed a new Epson multi-function color laser jet on my computer network. It prints correctly, but after every print job, it gives this error that I need to click through: "AL-CX11-CCF782 TCPIP, Unknown error, Check the printer." Has anyone else had this error, and if so, how did you stop it from reappearing everytime you printed something? The printer still works, so it's more annoying than anything else.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo; 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

You need to ask Epson support about the problem. These discussions do not provide third-party product support.
The error is related to TCP/IP, so a guess is it has something to do with network configuration of the printer or the printer driver. In either case it's an Epson support problem.

  • Epson Wifi Printers and Snow Leopard

Just curious - Has anyone gotten one of the newer Epson Wifi printers (like and all in one) - to work with Snow Leopard? Something like the Epson Artisan 800?
    Thanks

My Artisan 800 works fine wirelessly with my Macbook and wired with my iMac. I did have to fiddle with deleting/adding printer after Snow Leopard install and then there was an automatic Epson Printer Update download from Software Update. Not sure which one did the trick, but it's working.

  • I have mac book pro and recently changed to Lion.  since then it will not recognise my epson r2880 printer telling me it is not connected when it plainly is with usb connection?

I have mac book pro and recently changed to Lion.  since then it will not recognise my epson r2880 printer telling me it is not connected when it plainly is with usb connection?

    Turn off your printer.
Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan > Printers window and delete the printer from the list, then add it back.
    Turn on your printer.
    Any difference?
Here are some more tips from Apple Support article.
