Compare cameras one x ,4s,gs3,xperia s

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/samsung-galaxy-s3-vs-iphone-4s-vs-htc-one-x-vs-xperia-s-camera-test-...
i must say i'm a bit disappointed with the xperia s cam. although it has a 12.1 megapixels
what do u think?

Sure looks like there are mayor differences in between different producers phone's and how they handle different environments. Wouldn't it be weird if that wasn't the case also?
Some phone's camera's are better at handling one interaction then the next one, but might be not so good in the next interaction.
Good to bring up a comparison so people/user's can see there are differences!

I don't understand your last paragraph.
"The home page also has a full bar ..." What does "full bar" mean? " ... instead of the tray it had before."  What does "tray" mean?
Anyway, you might try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout
I guess that cannot make things any worse.

  • Photo images from dig. cam [one is error and other won't open] questions

My wife inserted the sd card in the card reader and copied about 70 photo image files to the Mac. The camera that took all the 70 photos was a Panasonic DMC-LZ5 but I don't think the camera model matters much here.
For the first time, 2 of the many images seem to be corrupt. Mac X reports one photo image has an error while trying to open and reports the second image won't open.
My main concern is whether or not to just delete the two error/corrupt jpg images. My other main concern is that I don't want to keep the two images if it could affect or corrupt my hd or Mac system in some way.
I normally just trash corrupted files; however, in this case I went ahead and attempted to open both of the 2 troubled files myself later and they both opened up in Preview and didn't report any error or corruption. However, one of the jpg images defintely is corrupt when viewing it as the bottom of the image is definitely messed up. However, the other image now opens perfectly and looks fine to the eye as if nothing is wrong with it.
Here is a link to the one photo image that isn't quite right [note the obvious distortion at bottom of image]. Link is http://mysite.verizon.net/vzenvo78/question595.jpg
Further very relevant information: The SanDisk sd card that all the 70 images were on is a 1 gig card and the sd card seems to be a total loss. The sd card can't be initialized/formatted by disk utility and furthermore the sd card is no longer recognized by the Panasonic camera - the Panasonic camera won't even preview the images off the card or allow me to format the card even from the camera.

    Hello,
I see what you are talking about. I just discovered this same exact problem on a friends G5 after he uploaded pics from his Leica.
This is what I did: I ran Disk Utility from the system restore disc to verify and repair the drive. DU reported Volume Bitmap problems. DU was able to repair the disc. Next, I created a new user account and tried uploading the images from the camera to the G5 and it worked just fine. The images loaded like they should.
I also reinstalled the drivers that came with the camera.
Delete any files that your Mac reports as a problem. It's just not worth leaving them on the drive.
So...... run Disk Utility from your system restore disc. If it reports errors, hopefully DU can repair them. If not, one option is to get DiskWarrior here:
    www.alsoft.com or TechToolPro4 here: www.micromat.com
One other idea is how old is the card?
Next idea is to create a new user acccount: System Prefs/Accounts. Try using that account to upload the same images. See if they upload as they should. If they do, then the issue isn't system wide, it's just in the other user account.
Remember to always back up your images/audio/data often as you never know when you might need to do either an Archive or Erase and Reinstall.

  • 2 iSight Camera One Computer

I am using an iSight camera as a webcam connected to a G4 Cube. To increase the field of view I want to add another iSight. Anyone ever run 2 iSight cameras on one computer? Any problems

You can connect two cameras to your Mac at the same time, however, iChat and the other apps that I have checked from those listed in Some Applications You Can Use With iSight will not operate both cameras simultaneously. You can only switch between the two video sources.
You apparently want to show the views of two video sources simultaneously. You will need to find software that will do that or find a hardware video mixer device such as FOCUS Enhancements' MX-4 DV™ Professional Digital Video Mixer that can deliver the features you want.
A lower-cost alternative that may work for you would be a wide-angle accessory lens to expand your iSights field of view. One way to do this is explained in the paragraph titled "Accessories Are a Geek's Best Friend from this MacWorld article.
Another accessory lens approach uses Kaidan's Accessory Kit for Apple iSight. The included 37mm threaded lens adapter will allow you to add a threaded wide-angle accessory lens without the tape and rubber bands of the MacWorld article's suggestion.

  • Newbie Question: Two Cameras, One Soundtrack

Hi there, I will have access to a machine with FCP for a week. It's a bewilderingly complex product for the non-pro editor like myself. I've tried to use iMovie on my own iMac without success. I shot a classical concert on two cameras (SD DV). The closer of the two has the soundtrack I want to use but the other one has the majority of the video I need. What is the simplest method of using the first soundtrack, the video from cam 2 but still using the some video from cam 1 for cut-aways? And last but not least, are there any specific tools for syncing the audio to the video. Obviously I don't have time-code.
    Thanks for your indulgence.

Go to Help in FCP's menu bar and read up on the Multiclip editing function.
The printed manuals contain exactly the same information -the online documentation is searchable by keywords.
Basically, you find a common sync point, press play and then switch cameras using the keyboard.
The edit points can be changed after the fact if neccessary.
You probably will need to use FCP for more than a week to finish this. Much to learn.
Footage from a DV cam does have timecode by the way.

  • Two cameras/One Timeline

Is is OK to use material shot with the Canon HV20 and the Canon Vixia HF20 in the same project Timeline?

Well, you really meant " ... in the same project Sequence ..."
The answer is yes. The HV20 is DV/HDV, the HF20 is AVCHD. If you shoot DV, you will capture that directly in FCE. HDV and AVCHD, however, are transcoded to Apple Intermediate Codec when you capture (HDV) and log & transfer (AVCHD).
You may have to be careful about your sequence settings if you shot the material differently (especially if you are combining DV with HDV or AVCHD in the same sequence; also if you shot 720p on one cam, 1080i on the other). I'd suggest reading up on sequence settings and Auto Conforming.
Also, stick to 60i or 30p ... FCE does not support 24p.

  • HELP!!! 2 cameras - one in wide screen mode

I'm brand new to FCE and I did my first home 2 camera shoot last night. As I imported them into FCE I realize that my Cannon HV30 was set to widescreen while my Sony Handycam wasn't.
Anyone have any suggestions for making these 2 pieces of footage look OK when I edit them together?
    Thanks.

  • Need to upgrade my HTC Thunderbolt. Sony Xperia Z3v or HTC One (M8)??

I used to be a photographer since the film days but now that everyone in the world thinks they are "photographer," I gave up. But photos as a hobby is still important to me. I love photo options and high pixels. Sony was nice for that but HTC for affects/ options. Verizon reps knew either nothing or what I already knew. I feel I am teaching them about the Turbo and Xperia Z3. So I need help. I've researched and played with these phones (hated Moto camera interface, LG, Samsung, always hated iPhone): HTC One M8 and Sony Xperia Z3v. Not sure if Sony uploads to my Mac easily from phone either. I would like the best quality in camera, sound, text/calling experience. Who has the best voice recording? Ease of using personal dictionary, select all/copy/paste? Thanks.

I had an m8. The 4mp camera is good, but, when you zoom while recording or with a picture after its taking I noticed extremely soft edges and slight chop in the pixels, the 3d effects are nice although you can only view those from the phone. The sound was amazing and the system ran smooth most of the time. However,  I upgraded to the z3v; I am not disappointed the multiple options inside the camera app are insane and it does take some of the best videos and pics I've ever seen in a phone. But,  it's just that,  a phone,  so the audio isn't great and some other things not worth mentioning. The xperia has 3gb ram which provides a noticeable boost in performance, where the m8 would lag here and there. My last gripe with the xperia is that because of its slight "step-chill" hybrid z2-z3 deal they didn't work out keeping data connection while in a voice call,  not a huge deal for me,  but,  there are those occasions when I'm in a call and need to check to see if an email sent or long into a server for work and I have to call whomever back because I can't do both.
I get almost two days out of a full charge on this (1day with a lot of usage), longer if you enable one of the stamina modes; opposed to the m8 I only got a day or a tad longer(less than a day with a lot of usage), but,  usually both streaming Pandora for a couple hours with screen off,  the usual amount of texts and emails and maybe 45 min of Web browsing with a few 20-35 min phone calls.
Waterproof is my big thing,  the xperia is waterproof to a point,  make sure flaps are closed and I bought some silicone headphone jack port plugs and put a little silicone sealer (let it dry) on them to keep the water from entering the headphone port, salt water would wreak havoc in there; I rinse the whole phone with fresh (bottled) water after. No problems.

  • Can i have more than one camera hooked up with iphoto?

I'm new to macs(about a week), so please don't laugh. I have 2 cameras, one Canon(S1IS), and one new Nikon(D50). My question is, will I be creating a problem by associating both cameras with iphoto, or should I configure them separately using their own software? Thanks in advance for all your help and suggestions.

Hey there. WELCOME to the world of Macintosh. You are in for a great ride with this machine and platform.
Some good news for you regarding cameras. The neat thing about iPhoto, and indeed, the Mac, is that there is no setup required for hooking your camera to iPhoto. In fact, ANY camera you plug into the Macintosh that it recognizes will automatically work with iPhoto!
I regularly use three different cameras with my iPhoto application. As soon as I plug into the USB port and power on my camera, the Mac figures out that it needs to start up iPhoto. iPhoto figures out how to talk to the camera, and gives me the option to import pictures from the memory card... no configuration, no extra software to install. I do this with a Canon camera, and two different Sony models.
    It's painless!

  • One day it just stopped focusing and the pictures are blurry.  If I switch it to the front camera it works well and looks like it should but when I turn it back it goes back to being out of focus and I can't figure out how to fix it?

i installed ios 7.after  that my primary cam, one day it just stopped focusing and the pictures are blurry.  If I switch it to the front camera it works well and looks like it should but when I turn it back it goes back to being out of focus and I can't figure out how to fix it?

This advice will sound like a joke or prank, but believe me it worked on my iPhone 5 and my daughter's.  The lens mechanism got stock on each of our iPhones.  We found a post on these message boards that said to hold the iPhone about 6 inches above a table or counter top and drop it so that it lands flat on it's back.  Now try the camera ...Fixed!  It has been more than six months now and neither of our iPhones have ever experienced the problem again.

  • More than one camera!

Hi Chaps. Use three new Macs. One at the office, one at home and a Laptop. All are new therefore camera and mic sorted. Use ichat and Skype a lot, especially if I'm away from home (I can talk to my family from overseas) Would like my home mac to have TWO cameras, one on the mac itself to talk to my family, the other wired in downstairs to the kitchen so we keep an eye on our daughter, maid, gardener etc... when we are on holiday. any ideas how to be able to swap cameras from a remote location and / or pan and tilt?
    Thanx

    There are several Issues here.
With Two Cameras it is easy in iChat as the iChat > Preferences > Video Section gets an Extra drop down when a second camera is attached. So you can swap any time you want.
Next is controlling that camera remotely.
This is a little more complicated as You can not access the controls after starting a Video chat (even if the remote computer is set to Auto Accept Video Invites - there is a script to do this accessed in iChat > Preferences > Alerts and one of the tick boxes then drop downs) as you can not do Screen sharing through iChat at the same time.
Depending on how the remote (computer at home) is set to appear on the Net you go access the other form of Screen Sharing in the Finder > GO Menu > GO to Server and VNC in to it. This method has no audio feed and is just control of the Screen.
Then it would be a case of picking an App that would give you a view of the Video feed that was large enough. I have no experience if this can be then used with iChat and a Video chat. iMovie or Quicktime Pro may be the best option.
Another option would be to just set it to publish web Pic/stream with some like Evocam and pick that up with web browser.
You may want to look at some of the options that EZ Jim list on my site
http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage7.html There is a Link to Evocam on this page.
How much control you have of a camera will depend on the camera and the Driver you can get for a Mac
so we keep an eye on our daughter, maid, gardener
I am not even sure where to go with that bit.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • Multiclip editing - what to do if one camera is not continuous synch?

    Help!
I've got to edit a one hour show overnight. Two cameras. One camera is shooting continuous, only one stop to change tape. The second camera was stopping and starting all the way through. I synched up the clips of the start\stop camera all the way through on track two. Synched in camera one where it starts up after a tape change. So I have a timeline with the whole show, made up of two tracks of clips. Is there any way I can use the 'multiclip' editing function AFTER I've synched up the two cameras?
The only thing I can think of quickly is to export the two cameras one at a time from the edited timeline, in the same format, and create new contiguous single clips for each all the way through. Then import these new one hour clips to do multi clip editing (all the blanks filled with black slugs). I'd like to avoid all that render time. And a second generation Quicktime.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated,
    Ben

I agree that the ol' split screen effect is a good way to edit multiple cameras, if you only have two cameras, it's still a bit of a waste of time. If there are only two shots from which to choose, it's a binary selection. In the olden days, I'd simply turn off the camera 2 track and razor blade out and delete all useless footage from camera 1. The holes MUST be filled by camera 2. Where there are overlapping shots, it should be easy to choose the better.
Your three camera shoot could benefit from two things:
    1. A tailboard meeting where you explain why you expect each tape to roll continuously
    2. Communication via walkietalkie or wireless intercom (rent them)
    3. A big digital clock with seconds hung on a wall where all cameras can see it. If any camera gets stopped (it happens) or batteries die, they can shoot the clock for ten seconds to provide accurate sync..
