Compiling/Debugging AIR App. on Samsung Galaxy Tab

Hey guys,
I'm currently testing/making a mobile app with Burrito/Hero SDK.  I am successfully compiling and debugging on my Droid 2 - there are certain settings on the phone that allows USB Debugging mode and also allows "unknown sources" (non-market applications) to be installed.
I want to be able to run/install the application on a Samsung Galaxy Tab - I want to see how it looks on a bigger resolution.  I am not able to turn on USB debugging on this device, therefore, cannot debug or install on the device.
Has anybody tried this?  Or does anybody know how to root the install so I can test my application?
Thanks! Cheers!
-Joe

Hi!
I tried this, but no good results either.
When I did a number of google searches I came into conclusion that there's no Galaxy Tab drivers yet bundled with the Burrito. Then I tried to google the tab drivers for MacOS but couldn't find them either. So I guess that's the basic reason that Burrito team chose include just a subset of devices for the beta - or then Samsung has been postponing the mac driver implementation?
I assume you could tweak even FB4 to build to Android if you manually edit settings and configs and hunt the drivers and deploy AndroidSDK. But didn't want to go there...
I hope to have the galaxytab working asap since from my point of view that's the most interesting target environment (at the moment) because of the larger touch screen size and presumeably better CPU.
PS. Has Adobe guesstimated about FB4.5 release date yet?

  • Unable to use FiOS Mobile Remote App on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

    I'm one of the holdout Blackberry customers who Verizon doesn't recognize as wanting apps anymore.  I finally broke down and bought an Android tablet device when I saw the FiOS Mobile Remote App and recognized it as an easy solution for controling my multiple HD STBs in my "Man Cave".  Unfortunately, the app has been completely useless.
    The app loads fine.  I'm able to register each HD STB with the app, however doing anything more than the initial set-up for the remote function results in a crash.  Every time I attempt to use it, I get the message "Unfortunately, FiOS Remote has stopped."  I will occassionally see the attempted connection displayed on the corner of my TV screen.
    All other functions of the app work, including the DVR function.
    I've reported this failure for months, using the handy little report button below the crash message.  No response.
    I've commented on this topic in threads from other users with the same problem.  No response.
    I've posted to the comments section of the Google Play store.  No response.
    Please, would someone from Verizon acknowledge this problem exists?  My best theory so far is that my tablet device is not on a Verizon data plan (WiFi only), so therefore Verizon isn't interested in supporting it (or this loyal customer).
    Device is Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 7.0, running Android 4.0.4.  All FiOs STBs replaced with latest generation.

    I am sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with the app. We try to make the app as compatible with all devices as possible. The full list of devices the mobile remote is compatible with is https://www22.verizon.com/OnDemand/unprotected/AboutFlexView.aspx   . You may find there may be devices that do work with it that re not on the list, but these are all verified working devices with the app. Since yours doesn't appear to be on the list, we can not gaurantee it will work. Submitting all the feedback has gotten word back to Verizon about the troubles you are having. You can also submit this to the Verizon Idea Exchange. • 'Save as' in Adobe Reader app? (Samsung Galaxy tab)

    My tech will be using a Samsung Galaxy tab installed with Adobe Reader to fill-in forms I created from Adobe Acrobat X Pro.  We are using DropBox to 'share' the files.  The only option I am missing is a 'save as' feature on the Adobe Reader app.  I've already extended all the rights of the pdf forms to Reader so according to all the forums, he should have full functionality.  HOW CAN I 'SAVE AS' once he has filled out the form so he can use it for multiple equipment???

    I don't believe this is possible. You might want to try to have each individual email you the file once they complete the form.

  • Cant load Adobe Air on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1   4.2.2

    I get unexspected error 24

    It's probably been "archived" for Android 3 and lower, for reinstalls, in case a phone or tablet needs to be "scrubbed" and reloaded. Android 4 and up don't support AIR (as far as I know) or Flash Player.
    Google recommends "Dolphin" or "Puffin" browsers for sites that require Flash or and AIR component. They use "server side" rendering to ease the load on the device.

    Hi, on a new MBPR 13, I transferred pics from my Samsung Tracfone smartphone using AndroidTransferFile app, worked good. My Samsung Galaxy Tab will not transfer with ATF, tried Samsung Kies also no luck, any ideas? Thanks...

    Today I downloaded a new version of Kies, 3.1.0.15042_6, and it seemed to work fine.  I was able to backup my Note 3 running Lollipop with no hesitation.  Files transferred to my Mac running Yosemite, OS X 10.10.3, easily.  The download is available at http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/

  • Device Configuration for Samsung Galaxy Tab?

    Longtime Flex/AIR developer here, but first time developing for Android.
    Want to build for Samsung Galaxy Tab. In Flash Builder Burrito, when creating a Run Configuration, there's a list of devices to target. But the Galaxy Tab isn't one of them. Which one should I use? Or do I just create one and enter the right dimensions etc? Is there any information associated with those device configurations besides the pixel dimensions and pixels per inch?

    Try the nearest match in terms of resolution. Also if you design your controls with relative size (%age based or relative to a fixed initial size), it shouldn't be a problem on device. There is also a blog post which may help you in writing your app: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/articles/writing_multiscreen_air_apps.html

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab Orientation/aspectRatio Bug

    Hi there,
    we developed an App and defined <aspectRation>portrait</portrait> in the descriptor xml.
    We also set:
    <autoOrients>false</autoOrients>
            <fullScreen>true</fullScreen>
            <visible>true</visible>
            <softKeyboardBehavior>none</softKeyboardBehavior>
    The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 gt-p3110 with Android 4.2.2 seems to ignore this setting and so the app always crashes.
    We tested it with Android 3.7 and 3.8 beta.
    Perhaps this is also the issue why the App becomes rejected on Samsung Apps...
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1212455?tstart=0
    Best
    omi

    Its been awhile, but if I remember correctly the Galaxy Tab's default orientation is Landscape where as most devices, certainly phones, tend to have their default orientation as Portrait. So my code actually detects Portrait mode as:
    var isPortraitView:Boolean;
    public function setIsPortraitView():void {
        // Each device, for AIR or for Android, can choose either Landscape mode or Portrait mode as the DEFAULT.
        // This means there is no system property to check for portrait mode, so we'll create our own.
        isPortraitView = (stage.fullScreenWidth < stage.fullScreenHeight);
    The apps I work with auto orient which won't happen if you set the Aspect ratio to Portrait or Landscape - regardless of how the AutoOrient flag is set. Setting the aspect ratio to auto just removes the line entirely from the app descriptor file.
    So my app at start up determines and sets isPortraitView and then checks the stage.orientation property against it like so:
    // Interpretes the given orientation against the given aspect ratio
    public function getIsPortrait(orientation:String, aspectR:Boolean):Boolean {
         var view:Boolean = false;
         switch (orientation) {
            case StageOrientation.DEFAULT:
            case StageOrientation.UPSIDE_DOWN:
                 view = aspectR;
                 break;
            case StageOrientation.ROTATED_LEFT:
            case StageOrientation.ROTATED_RIGHT:
                 view = !aspectR;
                 break;
            case StageOrientation.UNKNOWN:
            default:
                 break;
         return view;
    Later when my app gets orientation change events I use the above method to decode them. Remember though that as the device physically rotates clockwise the orientation events are received counterclockwise - think of it as a bubble on a level.
    Also there can be a problem with apps not reporting their capabilities correctly when first starting up. So my code actually takes it one step farther and when first setting isPortraitView I also use it to correctly set internal properties for width and height like so:
    // Capabilities reports screen resX and resY based on the mode the app starts in
    if (isPortraitView) {
        screenResLandscapeWidth = Capabilities.screenResolutionY;
        screenResLandscapeHeight = Capabilities.screenResolutionX;
    else {
        screenResLandscapeWidth = Capabilities.screenResolutionX;
        screenResLandscapeHeight = Capabilities.screenResolutionY;
    Also lets say I have an app with a stage width and height of 600x400 on a device with a 1280x800 screen. I finally had to hardcode these values as some devices would report stage.fullScreenWidth as 600 and at other times report it as the device's screen width of 1280. So I recommend always having your app configure its own internal properties at startup and then have your code only refer to those properties. That way if there's a problem with your app receiving bad data it's much easier to isolate it and code a workaround.
    I hope that helps.

  • Flash Builder 4.7 won't debug air app on Android devices  anymore

    Hi there,
    A strange thing happened today to my Flash Builer 4.7 installation on OS 10.8.5 : it suddenly refused installing and debugging AIR apps.
    At -the famous- 57% of compilation completion I can see the "installing app on device" message, but nothing happens then, and the one minute connection to app timeout is finally triggered.
    I had a look at other threads dealing with this problem here http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1154269 and here http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/02/12/new-android-4-2-2-feature-usb-debug-whitelist-prev ents-adb-savvy-thieves-from-stealing-your-data-in-some-situations/ and I downloaded the latets Android SDK and replaced a bunch of files into the /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/sdks/4.6.0/lib/android/bin folder but nothing worked.
    The fun side of the issue is that yesterday it worked, and this morning it did not worked anymore, but I swear I did not ugraded Android on my phone nor I upgraded AIR SDK in FLash Builder or OS X. The Android phone is the same as usual, a Nexus 4 with Android 4.3, that I upgraded 1 month ago.
    I can't debug my Android app anymore, this drives me crazy, and I spent the day trying to find a solution.
    Do you guys had a similar problem ?

    My mistake...
    There was a typo into the XML application descriptor, that prevented the app to install properly on the device.
    Precisely, it wasn't a typo but raher a malformed <intent-filter> node. I launched adb tool from the console with adb install MyApp.apk command, and I saw this : Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_MANIFEST_MALFORMED] in the terminal. From here it was easy to find the culprit.
    What would be cool is to have this feature inside the Flash Builder's Console panel.

  • Can't get rid of weird Japanese ads on Samsung Galaxy Tab 4

    I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, and one of the first weeks I started using it, this Japanese Assistive Touch type thing appeared, but wasn’t connected with an app I could uninstall to get rid of it. But after a couple weeks, it disappeared without my noticing (or doing anything to cause it to go away). But now (from about several weeks ago) I have started getting these popup ads. However, they are all in Japanese, which leads me to think the Assistive Touch and these ads are connected somehow. When I have accidentally clicked on the ads they try to get me to download their apps (which all have very suspicious permissions). But now I can’t figure out how to make them go away. I have run scans through TrustGo AntiVirus, AVG AntiVirus, Clean Master Antivirus, TrustGo Ad Detector, and Lookout Ad Detector multiple times, and all of them after an initial scan and clear (which only gave basic things and didn’t solve the problem anyway) have told me my system is clean, even though I am still getting the ads. I have run Clean Master’s Junk Files scan, and in the results under the “Obsolete apks” heading, were three apps with Japanese titles, and the words Not Installed underneath them. I told Clean Master to “clean junk”, and the apps disappeared from the list, but the ads were still appearing. Next, I tried running my device in Safe Mode to see if I could pinpoint the problem to a third party app (even though Clean Master had classified them as Not Installed). When I ran it in Safe Mode, I clicked through all the apps available, and no ads appeared. But when I restarted it in Normal Mode, I clicked through all the same apps from Safe Mode, and still no ads appeared. It was only when I went to a third party app that the ads appeared. I went to several third party apps, and ads popped up on almost all of them. However, I’m not sure what to do to now to try to get the ads off. Any suggestions? I would like to avoid doing a factory reset if at all possible.

    Not technically, no, but around the beginning of when I got my tablet in
    July, an Assistive Touch type thing appeared, but I didn't download it.
    That was also in Japanese, but I couldn't figure out a way to delete it.
    However, it somehow disappeared without my noticing or doing anything about
    it. I feel like they're connected. So the issue's been going on for longer
    than from the last app I downloaded. I haven't removed any apps yet to test
    it though.
