Compressor reinstall issue

I am having this really weird problem,
After installing Logic Studio onto my MacBook, I opened Compressor and it worked fine. However, the next day I tried it again and all I got was the little start up window thing (the one that has the copyright information on it) and all of the menus. The only things that worked were some of the menu buttons. So, I tried to Reinstall. When I clicked to the customization menu in the installer the Compressor name and checkbox were faded out. I looked up the problem here (the Apple Discussions) and found out how to get to Compressor's own installer, on the install DVD. I ran that and everything looked fine until it got to the point where it says, "Running Compressor install script." Everything stopped and I ended up having to force quit the installer and restart while holding down the mouse button (to eject the install DVD.) If anybody could help me that would be AMAZING!!! Thanks!

I've had years of Compressor reinstall nightmares. Seems to go back to the whole Qmaster thing. What has worked for me thus far is a little install hack that I outlined here. I hope this permanently solves it but I have a feeling I'll go one day and it's be broke again.

  • FCS 6 Compressor / Qmaster Issue (with QuickCluster)

I currently have a Mac Pro on the bench running OSX 10.5.8 and FCS 6.  All current updates installed.  Qmaster is set up with a QuickCluster, using 8 instances for all 4 cores on both CPUs.  4 GB of RAM.  Using droplet to compress MOV files.
After dropping MOV file into droplet for compression, Qmaster status shows that certain instances are not connecting (by indicating red next to listed instance), followed by the infamous 3x crash service down error message.  Has been an ongoing issue for several weeks.
I have attempted troubleshooting by recreating droplets, reinstalling Qmaster and Compressor, reinstalling FCS 6, and finally reinstalling OSX and starting from scratch.  I'm at a loss on what to do next.
Has anyone else had a similar issue... and how did you manage to get it resolved?  I'm at the point of pulling my hair out... and I don't have much left at this point.  :-P

I pulled the hard drive, and put it in a known working machine, to see if I could recreate the issue.  Qmaster did the exact same thing on the other machine, which now leads me to believe that this is a software issue between Qmaster and Compressor.
I've copied the log from the Batch Monitor on my latest attempt, to see if anyone recognizes anything going wrong:

  • Reinstall Issue

    Hello,
I am having extremely sluggish problems with Photoshop Elements 8, yet everything's fine with Premiere Elements 8.
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer (Dell XPS), then I reinstalled the Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements programs using the disks that came with the computer.  (I bought these two programs when I bought the computer, and these two programs came already-installed on the computer. It also included a disc for each for purposes of reinstall.)
When I open Photoshop Elements 8, the program opens, but even without doing anything, the computer pauses to "load" every few seconds, and for approx a 5 second duration (ie, the mouse icon changes to windows 7's loading icon, which for me is that blue circle that 'spins') When I try to perform actions, I have the same problem and actions take drastically long to execute or the actions just don't register.
I also uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop Elements, but the problem persisted.
As I mentioned, PREMIERE elements works just fine, as I spent a couple of hours editing video and had none of these slowdown issues.
I'm very frustrated and help would be extremely appreciated.  Thank you.

If you did an Archive and Install, it left a previous system folder. Once you have run the new system long enough to know you have everything you need, you can delete that folder, to free up some disk space.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 - SUP role removal or reinstall issue resolution

    Hello all,
I just want to share a fix regarding SUP removal (re-install) issue.
I think I found a bug  regarding SUP role removal/re-install.
When I try to re-install secondary SUP on a site system, when I remove SUP via AdminUI – Administration – Site - Site Systems, it gets removed from the list but I get the following errors, which makes (re-)installation fail.

In fact, the registry is under

When I trigger uninstall via AdminUI, it failed to remove, thus it think that it is already there when I try to re-install it.
The fix was to manually remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\Components\SMS_EXECUTIVE\Threads\

Yes!!!  this worked for me.  I have SCCM set up with a number of untrusted forests with a firewall in between my SCCM servers and the untrusted forests.  The firewall went down and half of my site servers in the untrusted forests were giving
the "operating system reported error 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress" on a number of their components. Finally found this, deleted the reg keys under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\Components\SMS_EXECUTIVE\Threads"
and that allows SCCM to reinstall.

  • Photoshop Elements 9/Windows 7 -Reinstall Issues

Trying to reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 on a new PC.  Old PC had hardware issues.  I receive this error message - Either Adobe Premier Elements 9 is not installed on the system or has corrupted.  So please install Adobe PRemiere Elements 9 and then retry.  Since Adobe is not yet installed on the new PC and I'm installed from the original CD ( I purchased) the error message doesn't make sense.  Do I need a new license key?

Presumably this is a PRE+PSE bundle with install-media for both products.
It is saying you need to install Premier Elements 9 before installing the PRE9 content.
What happens if you install PRE9, first, rather than PSE9?

  • Safari Redirects & Update / Install / Reinstall Issue

Hello All - I know this topic has been discussed in another thread - but evidently people are still having problems and it has not been solved (granted the question is answered - but not SOLVED). I am having an issue - I get redirects at random and I also have the issue that everyone else seems to be having with a reinstall and the error message of needing 10.5.3 (or whatever version - I got tired of keeping it straight) but it is the same issue.
Can we get this straight - or do we all need to go to Firefox?

    Hi Laura
The problem lies in the 1.2 reinstall, which may have altered some of the core OS X files, hence the error message about "localized string not found". I came across this very same problem when attempting to help someone reinstall Safari 1.3.2. That thread is found here. The resolution in that thread was easy because the original poster had Safari Panther installed on a second machine. I'm posting this reference so you'll get a sense why you can't install 1.3+
There are a number of ways to approach this problem, however, the easiest path may be to reinstall the operating system, using Archive & Install.
Do you live near an Apple store? If you do, someone at the Genius Bar can help you with the reinstall process.

  • Adobe CS4 Reinstall Issue...

Hello! I am attempting to reinstall CS4 on my machine at work. Initally, this was the problem I experienced (as posted over in the Digital Editions forum, which is where the Adobe tech support forwarded me to go post the problem):
Initially I experienced error 147:20 a few weeks ago, and I ran their LicenseRecovery.exe tool, and that did not clear anything up. So, then I ran the Adobe CS Cleaner Tool and uninstalled CS4, and then I reinstalled it on my machine. When I get to the serial number screen, I was unable to use the serial number provided by Adobe.
Okay, so now I have yet a new issue with the install...I was able to get the s/n to work (a day or three later); however, then a screen comes up saying that I need to load the installation DVD into the drive.
    *!*Insert any desired expletive here*!*
Umm, hello? If I had not loaded the disc into the drive in the first place, I would not have been able to run the application at all!!!
If anyone can be of any assistance, it would be MUCH appreciated!
But this might be able to be overlooked because the com team is going to see about getting me a whole new machine (possibly this coming week).
Thanks for any response you can provide!

Programs requesting an installation disk depends on another Adobe program having installed a shared component from a different install source and storing wrong file path references. You will have to clean out all Adobe products, then start over with the install in the correct order/ order of priority. You may even need to delete the caps.db and other installer databases manually.

  • Snow Leopard Reinstall Issue

So I'm selling my early 2009 Mac Mini (Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, 2GB Ram, 120 GB HD).
First, I backed up and formatted my Macintosh HD, and then I tried to reinstall the OS numerous times. I tried to "Erase and Install" from the Leopard install disk, then "Archive and Install" from the Leopard and install disk, then tried to install from the SL upgrade DVD numerous times, with it finally working on the fourth or so try.
Almost every time it failed, it gave me a different error, or no error at all.
First try (Erase and install from 10.5 disk): Long log file errors
Second try (Archive and install from 1.5 disk): "UNKNOWNINSTALLERROR"
Third try (Install from SL disk (said Upgrade)): Froze (No mouse)
Fourth try (Install from SL disk (said New Install)): Froze (Mouse movement)
Fifth try (Install from SL disk (said New Install)): Froze (Mouse movement)
Sixth try (Install from SL disk (said New Install)): Left it overnight, still was calculating time remaining when i woke up
Seventh try (Install from SL disk (said New Install)): Worked fine
Also, between the fifth and sixth try I tried to restore my computer from a backup, which also froze it.
In order to sell it, I want to leave it at the stage it is at, so that the buyer can register it in his/her name.
Now my questions are: Does this happen sometimes? My uneducated guess is that the 8x Superdrive is too slow to run the installer stable. Is this true? Should I go through the setup, test the Superdrive, then try to reinstall again?
Also, the Superdrive worked for everything else before I tried this.

First thing to do is boot the computer with the Leopard install disc into the Apple Hardware Test program (holding down the D key) and run the extended tests at least twice. I suspect a hardware issue.

  • Iq500 reinstall issue

    Touchsmart iQ500. Windows Vista 64bit
My Touchsmart iQ500 HD crashed. I have replaced drive with a WD Caviar Green 1TB SATA.
Having received a set of reinstall disks from HP Support I'm now having issues with the install, the supplementary disk is failing to install, plenty of noise from the CD drive attempting to read but no go, I have received a second set of disks as the first were scratched badly which I believed was the issue, it wasn't, same problem of disk attempting to read, lots of noice from the CD drive, but not installing, just hanging.
Anyone have any ideas, first disk of the install runs fine, what other options are there? After a month since the crash just want to get back up and running again.
I have yet to recover the original HD which I hope to sort at a later date.
    Thanks

Make sure you have nothing in the USB ports other than keyboard and mouse, and make sure you're not connected to the network when restoring.
If the unit is being picky about the DVDs try copying them on to a DVD-R on another machine and using the copies for the Recovery, however you may just want to grab a cheap portable USB DVD reader to use for this if it looks like the DVD in the unit is sick.

Rec'd runtime error R6034    Application made an attempt to run C run time library incorrectly

  • Reinstall Issues

I recently tried to upgrade my iTunes and when it gets to the quicktime part it gets almost to the end and gives me an error message that reads:
    Quicktime Istallation Failed:
    Error Code : -3
What does this mean and how do i fix it? Its kinda a pain in the *** since iTunes wont work without quicktime.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem, but I resolved it yesterday. Here's what I did.
    1) Uninstall QuickTime from the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
    2) Clean registry issues with http://www.ccleaner.com/ (freeware). Once installed just click on Applications and put a check mark next to Quick time. (don't skip this step, it is important)
    3) Restart windows.
    4) Turn off any anti-virus programs that are running.
    5) Delete the Quick Time folder, In C:|Program Files
    6) Reinstall QT from the standalone installer
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
Good Luck and I hope this helps.

  • Reformat and reinstall issues with Audigy4

After a Windows XP reinstall, I wanted to reinstall my Mediasource Go and all software files associated with my Audigy4 Pro.
I flashed the bios, updated chipsets, did a clean boot and reinstalled as per instructions on the Creative site. However, Mediasource GO didn't install correctly and, in trying to install Mediasource Player 5, it hangs at 57% on the "uninstalling MediasourceGo" because of the half-uninstalled files.
Also, trying to install "MediasourceGo" as a stand-alone download won't work because, even though the old one is half-uninstalled, the prompt says "A newer version is already on your system" and exits!
I'm certain that there are registry problems or hidden files that are prohibiting me from deleting certain files in the Creative folders (some dll files refused to delete even in clean boot).
This is very aggravating and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • ITunes Reinstall issues.

Allright, heres the deal, I was a bit stupid earlier.
My iTunes wouldn't start for sh't and I tried just about anything. Now, i uninstalled and dribbled and flipped with regkeys and settings docs and god knows.
Now, when i try to reinstall i get the message (I'm from Sweden so I'll translate the message, but it might not be exactly as it is in english version): "Can't remove the previous version of iTunes. Contact technicalsupport."
Now they should be removed but, apparently, the installer doesn't take that.
I'm so tired of the wmp so please, any kind of help is welcome.
    Thanks.

okay, try working through any of the suggestions from the following document that you haven't tried yet:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows
but if you have no joy with that, let's get an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs and localisations)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing

  • Uninstall, ReInstall issues

Is there a best way to do this ?
    I'm running IDM v6.0 with SP1
    java version "1.6.0" ( I don't believe this is officially supported )
    apache-tomcat-6.0.2
    WinXP
Hopefully, I'm getting close to the end of this saga, but maybe my personal observations and others comments will make the ride smoother for others.
The reason for this Uninstall, ReInstall was some LDAP error's that I'm hoping to have resolved.
The 1st time I uninstalled, using Control Panel, it could not find the uninstall .jar, so the CL window flashed and closed.
When I did reinstall v6.0 and SP1, I was successful, but Tomcat would not start the 'idm' context. Here are a few of the logged errors:
SEVERE: Context [idm] startup failed due to previous errors
    java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.idm.idmx.web.AuthFilter cannot be cast to javax.servlet.Filter
    Repository issues:
Is running the 'drop_waveset_tables', the same as manually doing 'drop database waveset' ?
If I've exported my repository data using console - export cmd ?
Do I run 'create_waveset_tables' during installation and then use console - import on top of it ?
Or can I do a full installation without a repository, until I use run 'import' ?
    Behind the scenes:
    - I've noted the C:\WINDOWS\system32\productregistry (xml)
-any registry settings ( I wouldn't know what they are )
TIA for any comments, links, references.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Tassie1
I noticed your post about the installation that may not be completing successfully, and I wanted to share my suggestion with you, that might help!
Try a level 3 uninstall to completely remove all of the HP printer files, and then reinstall the full driver. The steps are as follows:
    1. Click Start and type %temp% in the run field, press enter to open the temp folder
    2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356) (If there is more than one, choose the most recent folder)
    3. Open folder Util
    4. Open folder CCC
5.Run the L3uninstall.exe (may also be a .bat file)
    6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
    8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    9. Download the full feature software and drivers from here: HP Photosmart C4500/C4524 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver
    10. Run the download and reinstall the printer
Please let me know if that helps and what happens!
