Computer crashed and I lost my Itunes purchases
Is there a way to get my lost Itunes purchases back, I don't have an Ipod so I can't do it that way. I tried finding it through the Apple help but was unsuccessful.
If you didn't make a back-up of your music/movie purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Products may only be downloaded once; after being downloaded, they cannot be replaced if lost for any reason. Once a Product is purchased or rented (as applicable) and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage" iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
You could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. Ipod syncing is not one way. You just have to know what to do...
I can see you use windows. Connect ipod to pc, but don't install or dont open itunes - dont alow itunes to sync automaticly). Then open explorer, enable hidden files, open your ipod (as you would any disc) open hidden file with strange names and copy all of them on your new hard drive. Then drag all this strange-named files in your itunes...woooo...now those strange names become your songs...it is magick

Sorry , that happen where you using icloud as a backup it should be there and itunes with win xp is not supported any more.

A little while ago my computer crashed and I lost everything, including my iTunes library except for on my iPod Shuffle. I just got a new iPod Nano for Christmas and I need to transfer the music from my old one to my new one but I can't figure out how to do this because my iTunes does not have the music that my old one does.

My computer crashed and the Tech people had to completely erase everything on my computer. I am reinstalling it all and I lost my itunes library. Does anyone know if there is a way that I can connect my ipod to the computer and not lose my library? I have about 2000 songs in total!!

how do i download previous purchases to my new computer. my old computer
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), then you can transfer from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

Prevent automatic syncing one time, without changing settings: Open iTunes. Then, as you connect iPhone to your computer, press and hold Shift-Control (on a PC) until you see iPhone appear in the sidebar. Then, use iTunes File menu > Transfer Purchases from XXX's iPhone. This will transfer your purchased items.

Any music purchased through the iTunes store can be downloaded again for free as long as you are signed in with the Apple ID you used for the original purchase. Any other music you had in iTunes should be easily accessible in your system back up or from the CDs you ripped from originally.

Could somebody tell me what to do ?If you have a backup to an external hard disk, then install iTunes and place the backup of C:\users\????\Music\iTunes back into that folder. If you need to redownload old purchases, then go into iTunes and go store -> purchased -> download previous purchases and that will at least get you what you bought from Apple. If you could elaborate on what kind of crash, I might be able to recommend a few other things, but that would be less Apple support and more data recovery.
