Computer requirements?

I'm trying to figure out how much processing horsepower I
need to be able to run Flash Media Live Encoder 2.5 on a laptop.
When I click on the "Requirements" link on the site I get shown
what Flash Media Server requires. Does Live Encoder require as much
computer as FMS?

FME has it's own set of requirements. You can find it in the
readme file that gets installed with FME 2.5

2nd Computer Requires a Manual Wireless Network Connection Setting on Powerup
On power-up, my 2nd computer, a 3 yo IBM R51, requires that I open the Network Connections window, then set the Wireless Network Connection Properties under the Wireless Network Tab, clicking on "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings", before the automatic connection launches to the WRT150N v1.1 router signal.
I just bought the router and have the latest firmware.
My primary computer does not require the above settings change every time.
Is there a selection I can make so this is automatic on power-up or restart of my 2nd computer?

It was already set to automatic on both extended and standard tabs.
For a good measure, I set it to disable, applied, then reset it to automatic and applied again. Still does same thing.
I notice that if I double click on the small icon for the Intel ProWireless Network Card, I get a Wireless Connection Status Window.
This window has a Wireless Settings section where it seems to have a possibly obsolete "Current Location Profile" called ssnetwork (the name of my old network on my old D-Link router that I just changed out for the Linksys.
Anyway, the Network Name (SSID) field is now blank but when it first came up, it had the new name of the network I'm using.
Do you know how I access this "Current Location Profile" so I can edit it and possibly enter my new network name?
There is a button at the bottom of the screen called "Modify WLAN Settings" that I click but nothing launches when I do so.
Now that I manually did the connection setting, my network name appears in the "Current Location Profile."

i am trying to connect to tyne internet and computer requires my user and password in which i do not remember

I'm guessing that you are referring to Tyne Internet in the UK? Are you forgetting your Tyne username and passcode, or one for the computer? To recover the Tyne, you will need to contact them. If it is your Mac, from what little I understand about Mac computers, do you have it in your Keychain?

  • Computer requires the update described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB2619234

I have a Windows 2008r2sp1 server that I would like to setup a test environment for Exchange2013.  I have tried to install the prerequisites in the technet article here (technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354).  But when trying to install
the HotFix (437878_intl_i386_zip.exe) I am told that "This update is not applicable to your computer".  I tried to run the Exch2013 Install anyway after a few minutes it too tells me that "This computer requires the update described in
Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB2619234" and I have downloaded the file a second time and rebooted multiple times as well, but cannot seem to get past this HotFix install.  Can anyone tell me what I missed?

Is Windows Update is UpToDate? Try install all the required Update and reboot the server and check the issue.
If that doesn't help then I think you should give a try at Windows Forum

  • Computer requirement ??

I've already built up three instrument drivers using LabView 7.1, but ,every time, after 20 mins working well with drivers, they started to go crazy.( dealing with signals form three different com. port)
I know the computer requirement for LabView 7.1 is Pentium 3 ,640MHz with min. 256 Mb memory, but I only can get Pentium 3, 584MHz, 256 Mb memory.
Is it the computer problem that they got out of control, or any other things??
    Thanks in advance!

  • LR 2 computer requirements for speed

What are the computer requirement for a PC to operate LR2 fast.
    Memory amount & speed.
CPU type and speed for 64 bit
    Hard drive speed and cache

Sony-naples -- another thought -- since it sounds as if you are about to buy a new computer and have decided on 64 bit to take advantage of LR's designed-in ability to use it -- I'll try to save you from the frustration I had to go through when I made that same decision.
I started out ordering another brand of hardware, supposedly with Vista 64 installed, but they shipped it with a 32 bit Vista. When I complained, they offered me a rebate on the OS which I used to buy the 64 bit OS version. After many hours of frustration and time on the phone with tech support people, one of them confirmed that while my hardware was suitable for 64 bit use, the hardware company had ceased supporting it, so it was lacking a driver. He made an appointment to install the appropriate driver remotely, but when he didn't keep the appointment, I called and got yet another support person who asked if I was aware that would void my warranty, whether that might matter to me, and why did I really need 64 bit. I explained I was buying this expressly to use the 64 bit version of LR. When she understood, she was very helpful - and I sent it back for a full refund. But in the meantime, I had wasted at least a month before I finally got a machine that would do what I wanted.
So in addtion to buying hardware that is adequate for running 64 bit, make sure the company will actually allow you to use it with the 64 bit LR!

  • Basic Functionality Questions - Is a computer required to serve content, etc?

I'm sorry if these are no-brainers. I ask them because I thought I had understood how an AppleTV worked, and had planned on buying one, until a friend who owns one insisted that the device functions differently than I had understood it to. I think he's wrong, but I was hoping you guys could clear up a few things for me.
    1) Does an AppleTV require that I have another device (iPad, Computer running iTunes, etc) on and connected to watch content purchased from my iTunes account, or will it stream directly from the 'net?
    2) If I've converted video content from a source other than the iTunes store (for example, ripped a DVD and imported it to my computer's iTunes library) can I stream it to my AppleTV (assuming the source computer is on?)
    3) Assuming #2 is true, the content in question must be served by a computer - ie, I can't move it to the cloud, and viewing it is dependant on having my computer on and running. Is this correct?
    Thanks in advance guys!

1- it will stream purchased items such as TV shows, not music unless you have the  iTunes match subscription. You need another device if you want to do "home sharing" (share your iTunes library with other devices, If you have already bought movies, music, etc.)
2- You will have to import it to iTunes if you want to see it on your ATV.
3- Yes, you need to have a computer act as a server with iTunes running all the time...

Even though it says 4 GB RAM recommended, I think most experience users woild say 8 GB and up is the real minimum.

  • CONSTANT "RESTART COMPUTER REQUIRED" SYSTEM CRASH!

NEED HELP! I have never used this discussion - needing to get some help. Ever since I upgraded my PowerMac G4 from latest version of Tiger to OS X Leopard I've been having trouble. My most serious problem just krept up with a tinted window I have never before seen indicating a system crash with a window that says "Restart Required." I noticed this first about two weeks ago but it began to occur once every one or two days. This morning it is not even letting me do any computing. I booted the computer from the Install disk and ran Repair/Verify but it indicated that all was good. I tried resetting the PRAM to no effect. I don't have Dr. Symantec installed anymore and am at a loss on what to do. I did the recent upgrade to 10.5.3 thinking that might help but it did not. All my other Apple software applications updates are good. Can anyone help me with this?

nah, that doesn't sound too swell. i can't recall if when you upgrade from Tiger to Leopard, if it would create a Previous Systems folder and save your Tiger OS and old iLife apps. seems like it would since you have a folder named such - though that could've come from your Tiger days - if you've ever archive/installed. anyway, an upgrade or archive/install will never save user account files in the Previous Systems folders. so, if you can't turn those files up anywhere, they're likely long gone. i've never seen file loss during an install, so it's weird that you would've lost stuff - unless something went wonky during the installation, or if your hard drive has some intermittent issues. some folks are confused about how iPhoto and iTunes stores and/or copies files - perhaps they're just hiding out somewhere on your system.

  • Computer Requirements for Premiere

I've never edited before. I have a high interest in creating short clips :15 - 3:00 worth of video. SD Video with possibility of HD. I have no prior knowledge so I'm vary cautious in purchasing a computer and this new premeire. I have a few Questions that hopefully someone can help shed some light on.
    1. Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHZ processor - 4 GB DDR2 Memory - EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Graphics Card. --- Is this sufficient for running the program seemlessly. I know minimum requirements are only 1GB for SD, but I was more concerned with graphics card and processor handling tasks easily.
    2. I'm really worried about getting a Hard Drive that is fast enough to handle this program. Seagate Barracuda 750GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Will this do the trick, or do I need to go up to 10,000 RPM?
    3. Most importantly - I'm worried about getting Adobe Certified Cards. Is it necessary to have a Card? (When I say card I mean like Matrox Axio, not sure if "card" is the correct way to refer to it.) Can I manage to import video and use Premiere without it? I'm not even quite sure what the purpose of the card is for.
Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated. This is probably stupid questions to ask in this forum, but you all know what is best and I would like to avoid spending money on a program if I don't have all the necessary components to take advantage of the program.
    Thanks,
    nofx1727

If you are planning on editing HDV, you will need a video card that has HD component outputs. If you use one monitor plus the HDTV you can use the NVidia Quadro FX-560, with two monitors and a HDTV you might prefer the Matrox Parhelia APVe which I use. I am replacing mine since I now have a fancy AJA XENA LHe I won in a drawing. The new card provides the HD output so I only need a dual headed card.
There is no need for HDV editors to have anything other than a firewire connection for capturing HDV. And as I said, output can be done with the video card.

  • Attempting to open Firefox freezes computer, requiring system shutdown via On/Off button. Opening FF in Safe Mode doesn't help anything.

I was using Firefox just fine as I have been for years, and when I tried to open it today after restarting the machine, it froze the computer almost completely (mouse works, but clicking it anywhere does nothing and ctrl + alt + del does not work). Sometimes even the mouse ceases to work. The only way to react to this is to shut down the system by cutting the energy (On/Off button) as I have waited up to 5 minutes and the system does not recover.
I have tried opening the Safe Mode dialog box (start -> run -> firefox -safe-mode) and choosing the options to disable extensions and toolbars and "reset user preferences to FF defaults" and click "apply and restart" and the computer freezes. If I hit the "continue with Safe Mode" button instead, I get to see the FF screen with a blank tab on it but the computer freezes as well.
I am completely baffled by this sudden problem. I am having to type this from Google Chrome and thus I cannot supply troubleshooting information, sadly. I am sure it is not conflict with antiviruses because I have not installed any new firewalls or antiviruses before the problem started.
I tried downloading Firefox 8.0 and installing it (was previously on 7.0) but it didn't help at all. I also tried running FF with Windows on Safe Mode, but the freeze still happens.
Please help me, my life depends on ReminderFox reminding me of stuff and now I can't access it :,-(. I need FF back ASAP!
    Thanks a whole lot!
'''Addendum:''' The freeze is also happening at random even without opening Firefox, it has a chance of happening when I click something. My computer has frozen when I: 1- clicked the "reveal desktop" button to minimize all windows; 2- Attempted to close a tab in Chrome; 3- Clicked "play" in a Youtube video that had been loaded and waiting for some time). It will also almost always freeze when I leave it idle for more than about 10 minutes.
But it will '''guaranteedly''' freeze when trying to open FF, which doesn't happen with any other program.
I think my computer is breaking down. :(

  • Manual Shut down of computer required when computer on overnight

I usually keep my computer on all the time.  Generally, I will press the return key or tap the touchpad to get the computer screen activated.  However, recently I have had to manually shut down the computer to get it to come on.  The computer lights are all on, but I've noticed that the hard disk drive light flickers when I'm not able to turn the screen on.  When the hard disk drive light stays on and doesn't flicker, I can just tap the touchpad or hit the return key to activate the screen.   I've also noticed that at times the hard disk drive light flickers on and off when I'm working on the computer.  Could this possibly be an indication that my hard drive is about to fail?  I haven't had to press the sleep or hibernate key to activate the screen in the morning.  Is it possible that I changed something without knowing it, which might be causing this problem?

I would recommend not leaving the computer on continuously. There are several reasons not to leave it on. Unless it is doing something, it is just wasting power. Not a lot of power, but still it's a waste. It stresses the components of the computer. No reason for circuits to be up and running continuously. Probably will reduce the computer's lifetime. One benefit of shutting down the computer is that it clears the memory. Even after you close a program, not all of the files get released, so you have unused and unneeded files cluttering up your RAM space and accomplishing nothing. Cluttered RAM means decreased performance. Because the computer is on continuously, so is the fan. The fan is continuously sucking in air to cool the CPU and GPU. Along with that air is the dust and dirt that's in the room. Bottomline, your computer's circuit board gets dustier and dirtier than if the computer had been turned off when not in use. This will lead to over heating and the computer shutting down on it's own.
The hard drive LED flickering is pretty normal as it reads and writes files. Much of it is automatic and automated. I have my Windows Updates set for automatic, so they happen in the background. Not sure why the screen is not turning on when you tap the Return key. Maybe you have Sleep or Hibernation enabled. Check your Power Options in the Control Panel.

  • Does a managed client computer require an OD user account?

Currently, my site is set up so that users have local accounts on their own machines.
If I want to be able to manage settings on their local machines, do I need to convert all the existing accounts to server based OD accounts?
Ideally, I would like to keep them logging in locally, but be able to manage certain settings centrally, and then slowly migrate the local accounts to mobile accounts in the future...
Is this possible to do, or do I need to have all my users in my OD before I can manage their computers?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
+"If I want to be able to manage settings on their local machines, do I need to convert all the existing accounts to server based OD accounts?"+
    No.
    +"Is this possible to do?"+
Yes. You don't necessarily have to have an OD Master to achieve this either, although it's easier if it is. Make sure your server is an OD Master and join client workstations to the LDAP node. If you don't need to disable 'Automatic logins' on the client workstations then leave it as a 'transparent' login. Users logging won't be aware of any other login option that way. However if you want to present a login window you can either configure it locally to not show any Users or apply that option as a managed preference. It's one of the many MCX you can apply at Computer level that you can't apply at any other level.
Bear in mind MCX at hardware level applies to all users - local or otherwise.
+"do I need to have all my users in my OD before I can manage their computers?"+
No. Although you will have to at some point if you want to achieve local to mobile accounts.

  • The system requirements for Mavericks used years of production for the computer requirements.  Why can't they use the generational number system?

Office location where Mac Pro is located has a slow internet connection.  I downloaded Mavericks installer onto thumbdrive.  Attempted to install on a dual 3 core Xenon Mac Pro, model 2,1.  After a few hours, I figured out that the error message that was generated by the installer was telling me that my computer doesn't support Mavericks.  Do other people get confused with which generation of hardware is supported with software?  I understand the difference between PowerPC and Intel.  The tricky part is the difference between 32bit and 64bit with the EFI and the CPU instruction set.  Also, why can't they stick with a clear numbering system that is visible when you get info on the Mac?

If you are desperate you can use hackintosh tools to boot in 'legacy' mode which allows 10.9 to run on unsupported Macs. Chameleon bootloader & some google fu will get it running in an unsupported way (assuming your graphics card is supported).
I think Apple dug this hole when they told everyone that these were '64bit Macs'. Sadly if they don't support 32bit EFI in their new OS it's not going to work by default. In other discussions I have read that drivers need to be rewritten for actual 64bit support on a 32bit EFI.
I have run 10.8 on my 1,1 MP, but 10.6 was nicer, at some point I'll try 10.9 on it
P.S. http://mactracker.ca and http://www.everymac.com are handy for working out what model supports what features etc.
