Computer was wiped, how do i re-establish my ipod library with my new one?

Hello anybody out there...
Due to a couple growing problems with my computer, i had to have it completely wiped and everything deleted off of it. I reinstalled itunes and have everything working fine again, but I'm not sure how to add the new songs im putting into my brand new itunes library onto my ipod, which is full of songs and data i had with my old itunes.
Is there a simple way to add the songs i put in my new itunes to my ipod which is not linked to my new itunes? When i originally reinstalled itunes and connected my ipod, it gave me a warning if i wanted to replace my new library (which was empty becuase itunes was new) with my entire library on my ipod (which has all the songs from my old library on it) and i said no. I have no clue where to go from here, any help would be great.
thanks, gak

You would have to manually manage the iPod...

(Similar to the procedure here...

However, it may be easier to move the music from the iPod to the computer and then transfer normally...

  • How can I use an existing iTunes library with a new iTunes account

My daughter is going to college, and wants to untangle herself from the family iTunes account. Right now, we have three iPods with libraries on three computers, all using my iTunes account - and have had no problems.
She has signed up for a new account, but her previously purchased songs (on my account) won't play on her computer (new computer, iTunes is currently almost empty library), because it is authorized to HER iTunes account.
What is the best way to import her iTunes library that was created using my account onto her new computer? (Old library is on a PC, she now has an iBook, purchased used on eBay.) Is there any way to get these songs to play using her new account info? Can I maybe copy them somewhere without the metadata and then move them into her library? I realize that would lose ratings and other info, but would it get rid of the block? I'm not trying to do anything dishonest - these are personal iPods, personal computers, all within one family, we've paid for all music on them.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
(I posted this in the iTouch discussion, and then thought it wuold be better answered over here.)

Then can her computer be authorized to both accounts?
Absolutely. You can authorize any given computer to up to five iTunes Store accounts.
If purchases are made on her account, to a computer authorized to my account, can I put those songs on my iPod?
If you connect your iPod to her computer, yes. Tracks download only to the computer from which they're purchased, regardless of which iTunes Store account is used for the purchase. Or you could copy the tracks from her computer to yours and then authorize your computer to her iTunes Store account. But that's sort of defeating the original purpose, it would seem to me.
is it better to buy music through Amazon downloads and/or actually purchasing CDs to avoid the security features iTunes puts on its music?
That's certainly an option. If it's an entire album I want, I buy CDs. That way I can import them at the quality I want and to whichever of my systems I want. Amazon or one of the other download stores that offer tracks as MP3 are also an option, though for me download stores are best when you just want a couple of tracks off a given CD.

  • TS1363 How can i update my old ipod and add my new one.

I have had an older ipod nano and i just recently got a new one. How can i add my new ipod nano to my current itunes account or do i have to have a whole new one? If i do have to have a new account how can i get my songs that i have already purchased to the new nano? I am so confused.

Connect the iPod nano to the computer the exact same way you set up the old one. You don't need to create another Apple ID, iTunes Store account, or iTunes library.

  • How to I point to my itunes library with my new computer?

I have recently got a new computer and so I've reinstalled itunes.  I backed up all my music from my old machine and have copied it to my new machine.  How do I tell my new machine where that folder is?  All the music is in folders under C:\iTunes Music.

The correct way to move the iTunes media is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from \Music on the old computer to the same folder on the new computer.

  • How do I sync my old iPod nano with my new iPad and new Apple ID? I cannot remember my old Apple ID

I got a present of an iPod in 2008 and synced it with a laptop I had at the time. The laptop has since broke and the iPod was put in a press and never used. I now have a new iPad and apple I.d and have pulled out the old iPod and want to sync it so my new music from iTunes will be on the iPod.

Your iPod is not directly "linked" with an Apple ID.  Just connect it to your computer (Mac or Windows PC) running iTunes and use it.  You cannot sync an iPod to an iPad, however.

  • How do you transfer an old iTunes Library to a new one?

I just got a new MacBook for Christmas and I'm trying to sync my old iTunes Library from my PC to the new iTunes on my MacBook. I've tried the Home Sharing and I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if it's just not working...if someone could give me a step-by-step that works, that'd be great.
**I already have the songs I've purchased from iTunes in the new library, I just need the songs I've colleced from CDs and other various sources. And since I have the MacBook with Retina Display, there's no disc drive, so that's another problem I'm facing.***
    Thank you!

  • Need help on how to replace existing Status Profile on IO with a new one

Hi there, I have created a new status profile SV00001 assigned it to my order types and everything is OK for newly created internal orders. But I would also like the old internal orders which currently have status profile 0000002 to be assgned to this new status profile. Any idea on the best way to achieve this? Thanks!

    Hi,
It is not possible to change the profile once any status value has been activated. Changing the profile could introduce inconsistent status settings as the new profile would not necessarly contain the status values of the older profile. There would then be a mismatch between active/deactivated status values and what status values were defined in the new profile.
It is just not possible to allow change for that reason.

  • Computer was stolen--how to transfer from iPod to new computer

My computer was stolen and I want to transfer my iPod library to my new computer. I know how to transfer from one computer to another using an iPod but is there a way to do it when I don't have the computer that has my iTunes library?

There are a number of third party utilities you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod. This is just a selection.
    YamiPod
    PodUtil
    PodPlayer
    iPodAgent
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive posted in this thread: iPod to iTunes
If your iPod was set for automatic update change it to manual update. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box.
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.
Another way is to connect your iPod and before it starts to sync, click the little X on the right hand side of the display beside the "Do Not Disconnect" message. The display is the little window to the right of the iTunes control buttons: iPod Interface
Or you could look at the method described in this link: How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
Go with whichever method you feel most comfortable. If at any point you are asked if you want to link your iPod to a new library, click No.
