Computer won't detect camera

All of a sudden my computer won't detect my Rebel XT. I replaced the USB cord but nothing is even detected in "My Computer" or in the Device Manager. I am sure that the USB ports work properly as they work with other devices.  I reinstalled the software it came with and tried changing the communication settings on the camera. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Help! Computer won't detect mic unless webcam is plugged in...

Has this happened to anyone else? I have 2 different headsets and my computer won't detect the microphone on either on unless the webcam is plugged in. It doesn't seem to have any problem with the speakers, but I can't use the mic until I plug in the webcam. Please help! This is really annoying!!
Oh, and I'm using Windows Vista, and the Live! Cam Notebook Pro (VF0400) with the headset that came with it and another headset (not a Creative headset).

hm... yes! you have same problem as me. I can't change to another mic till webcam is plugged. And this is due to the fact that the webcam has a built-in microphone inside. Moreover in my case, it must be another problem too, because the other person with who I talk hear sometimes a strong noise. I need to change microphone in the Skype options (I go to the Microsoft Microphone, even if it can hear nothing) and I go back on the mic of the cam. The noise disappear for some moments... after again and I do the same.Could someone help us?For me it would be nice to deactivate the mic of the cam and use an headset that doesn't give this noise problem.

  • Computer Won't Detect iPhone5?

    Hey,
I recently bought an iPhone5 and downloaded and installed iTunes etc. I installed all required updates.
Problem is, my computer won't detect the iPhone at all. I've tested my old phone and my computer picks that up just fine, but with the iPhone it doesn't find it at all. I'm not just referring to iTunes. It doesn't pick it up at all, as in it doesn't show underneath MyComputer or under Removable Devices.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Greenation

I would call Apple or take it and its cable to an Apple store. It could be a bad cable, even if it charges, because there are 8 wires in the cable and only 2 are involved in charging. If you plan to take it to a store make a Genius Bar appointment first at http://concierge.apple.com/reservation/us/en/

  • Computer won't detect iPod

    Hi,
My computer won't detect my iPod when I plug it in. I open up iTunes and it won't show up in the list. It gets a picture of a sad ipod on it, and as it starts up it makes an odd clicking noise. I cannot get it into disk mode. I've tried all of the solutions at the apple support site and it simply won't work. I downloaded the iPod Updater software and I got it running but it couldn't detect my iPod for some reason. Ive switched the cable to different USB ports and my comp wont detect it. Also when I try and reset it, (after the clicking noise stops and it shuts off) there is an icon which looks like a battery with rough, jagged, or broken ends. What does this mean and what can I do?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!

Upgrading the Linksys Router's Firmware   Question  How do I upgrade the Linksys Router’s firmware?
Answer  The new firmware adds numerous functions to the router. To setup a Linksys router with a DSL connection you need to perform four steps:
    1. Downloading the Firmware
    2. Upgrading the Router’s Firmware
    3. Completing the Firmware Upgrade
    4. Completing the Firmware Upgrade Process
    Downloading the Firmware
    Step 1:
Before downloading the firmware, make sure your computer has an active Internet connection. If your computer is plugged directly into the router and cannot get online, disconnect your router and plug your computer directly into your cable or DSL modem.
    Step 2:
To go to the Linksys download page, click here and verify the model and version number of your Linksys product. For instructions, click the link How to find Model number.
    Step 3:
After obtaining the model number of the Linksys router, enter the model number in the Enter Model Number field, then click GO.
    Step 4:
Look for Locate Version Number and select the version of the Linksys product from the drop-down menu.
NOTE: In this example, we used WRT54G v.6. The Image may vary depending on the model number of the Linksys product.
    Step 5:
After selecting the version, scroll down and look for Downloads For The WRT54G then click Firmware to get the latest firmware.
    Step 6:
If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Internet Explorer, you may see a “Pop-up blocked” message in your browser Information Bar.  Click the bar and select Temporarily Allow Pop-ups and click Firmware again.
    Step 7:
Click Save in the File Download dialog box that appears. Look for the  Save As dialog box, choose a location for the file like the Desktop and click Save. When the download is complete, click Close, if prompted.
NOTE: The name of the file may vary depending on the firmware file of your router.
    Step 8:
If the firmware file you have downloaded is on a zip format, double-click on the zip file and extract its contents to a single folder or to the Desktop.
NOTE: You will need to use a utility to open and extract files from the ZIP file archive. Popular software to use is WinZip®. To download WinZip®, visit http://www.winzip.com. You can also use the built-in unzipping features of Windows XP to unzip the contents from the archive.
    Upgrading the Router’s Firmware
    Step 1:
Access the router’s web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.
    Step 2:
When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click  Administration then  Firmware Upgrade.
    Step 3:
When the Upgrade Firmware opens, click Browse. Look for the .bin file which contains the files necessary to upgrade the router’s firmware.
NOTE: If the screen on your router’s web-based setup page looks different, click here.
    Step 4:
Browse to the location where the firmware files were extracted and select the .bin file. When the file is selected, click Open.
    Step 5:
    Click .
    Step 6:
When the upgrade is complete, the following message will appear.
    Step 7:
    Click .
    Completing the Firmware Upgrade
    Step 1:
    Close Internet Explorer.
    Step 2:
Reset the router. For instructions, click here.
Figure 1: Location of the Reset button of a Linksys BEFW11S4 router.
NOTE: If your router does not look like this, refer to the other images below:
Figure 2: Location of the Reset button of a Linksys WRT54GX router.
Figure 3: Location of the Reset button of a Linksys WRT54GC router.
NOTE: If the image of your router is different from the ones shown above, please consult your router documentation.
    Completing the Firmware Upgrade Process
The firmware upgrade is now complete.
You can now use the router's Setup Wizard CD to configure your Internet service and set up your wireless connections.

  • Computer won't detect BB Curve

    Hi folks.
This has been an issue for some time now. My PC won't detect my BB Curve 8330. It used to, but one day it just stopped.
I just installed the latest BB Desktop Software (7.1), and I also upgraded to Windows 7 (and got the updates) and it didn't help. I've also restarted, pulled the battery, checked USB cords.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To add to the all-too-brief reply you received above (which, interestingly, provided you with no guidance whatsoever as to how to actually carry out those instructions), I first recommend you research this list of troubleshooting articles...hopefully something will be useful:

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
    Hopefully something there is helpful!

  • Computer won't detect ipod shuffle

Background on my shuffle, I purchased it in 2008 and have used it non-stop since.  My husband also has one, purchased the same day, but it has rarely been used.  So what I am about to describe has actually happened with both shuffles.  One day when I was going to attach my shuffle to it's original charger base, I noticed that the base had fell between my computer desk and something else and became bent.  I went ahead and tried to place my shuffle on the base just to see if it would work and it wouldn't.  So thinking that the charger was destroyed, I went out and bought a new USB charger cable. When I connected my shuffle to the new cable my computer didn't even detect it and so my problems began.  I also assume that my shuffles battery is totally discharged (or maybe the shuffle is totally dead, not sure), but there are no indicator lights coming on at all.  My husbands shuffle needs to be charged, but the red indicator light will come on and blink when you turn it on.  I connected his shuffle to the computer as well, using the old charger and the new one, and the computer will not detect his shuffle.  I have updated, removed, and reinstalled iTunes multiple times.  I have also put iTunes on my netbook and tried to connect both shuffles using new and old cables, nothing happens.  I have used all the USB ports I have, nothing happens, but all of my other things that are in the ports work.  I have looked over Apples site, YouTube, talked to people I know, tried everything I see, and nothing is working.  I refuse to pay for Apple to help me with this because I will just buy a new shuffle (the new cable was $19! and it's at least $19 to get Apple to talk to me!).  To add to this, I was thinking that maybe charging a different type of iPod in my computer may have had an effect.  Several months ago, a friend of mine gave me her old iPod (it has a screen, but it's not a touch screen, sorry I don't know what kind of iPod it is).  However, this iPod and the shuffles have been charging happily together and my shuffle working in iTunes without problems until this incident.  iTunes would detect all iPods, but would not let me do anything with my friends iPod to allow me to make any changes to it (which isn't a problem I care to address at this point).  Now, my computer will detect my friends iPod to at least charge it, but iTunes will not detect it.  Thankfully, in this process I have not lost any purchased music, but I would really appreciate any advice on how to fix this.  I would even be ok with restoring the shuffles, but I can't even do that because they aren't detected (unless there is some way to do that outside of iTunes).  I'm sure this sounds confusing, but if you ask specific questions I'm sure things can be more clear so there can be a better understanding of the issue so everyone out there can help me solve it!  Thanks!!

Just an update, after I posted this I put my husbands shuffle on the charger to see what it would do.  Before putting it on the charger I turned it on and no light came on!  It seems something is disabling the shuffles.  Could it be a virus?  I have virus software on my computer and it isn't detecting anything.  Also, my husbands shuffle didn't work on the netbook even when the indicator light was coming on.

  • Computer won't detect audigy

    Greetings all:
I looked for a while in the forum, but did not find this question, so here goes:
I purchased an audigy 2zs platinum 0 months ago and had no problems until a month ago when I had to reformat and reinstall windows (one of my sata raid dri'ves died/fried). The windows install was on a new dri've, so there are no residual drivers from the previous install (to my knowledge - but I have tried to install it a few times now). Now windows xp home will not detect the audigy 2zs at all. It does detect the midi/game port on the card. I have also been able to use the firewire port on the card. It just won't detect the card, and I have had to revert to the onboard sound. It will only recognize the card as a "pci audi device" and not as a "audigy 2zs" like it did when I first bought it.
I like the zs, plus the front i/o bay is handy. Any thoughts on this problem? I have already tried a different pci slot with the same result. Is there a way to force the driver install? Is there a residual driver I am missing? Could the card be fried?
    Here is my setup:
p4(478) 2.8 ghz, asus p4p800 dlx, ati aiw 9800 pro, audigy 2zs platinum, old-fashioned ide ata hd for now.
    Thanks, Christopher

I think you may have misunderstood. If you do it that way and navigate to the windows CD then yes, it will install the windows driver. But i meant the Creative CD. If you install the basic CREATIVE card driver you should then be able to install all the other software. But the basic driver should sound no different than with the software except that the software allows you to EQ it and such.
Your problem as i understand is that windows DOES recognise there is a device there, but doesn't know where the driver is. So you need to manually navigate to the basic driver on the CD and once thats installed use the CD to install the software.
Also, i don't see why you can't just uninstall the unknown device in device manager, then without rebooting install from the creative CD as you normally would. In other words, the reason trying to install from the CD as normal isn't working right now is because of the unknown device in device manager. Some kind of conflict between that and windows knowing what to do with the CD install when you try that. So uninstalling the device first then doing a normal instal may also work.

  • Computer won't detect WRT54G router

I got the WRT54G router. I plugged the router into the power source, then i plugged the the cable from the modem to the router, then the cable from the computer to the router. All four lights were lit. Then the computer would never detect the router. I tried plugging in and out, and the same problem. All the cable were in the right places. I'm guessing it has to do with my computer itself rather than the router. I have Windows XP

okay...first off check the physical connection, make sure that computer is connected directly to the no. 1 or no. 2 ethernet port of the router...click on start >> run >> cmd >> type ipconfig and hit enter, find out the IP address and try pinging to default gateway...if you are getting any replies, let me know the ISP details, so that i can tell you step by step configuration of the router...

  • My computer won't detect my iphone

It used to,but I don't know what happened that it doesn't any more.
I can charge my phone via USB but the computer can't detect it.
It's the latest iTunes and I already tried restarting phone and computer and reinstalling iTunes.

    Hello, Tom.
I am not sure what computer operating system you are using so I will include both articles that walk you through what to do when iTunes does not recognize your device.
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

With the article below for Windows, I would recommending starting with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > (Appropriate Windows OS) > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

  • My computer won't detect my iTouch!

I just bought a new iPod touch today and tried to set it up.
It won't connect to my computer.
Now I'm not sure where the problem is actually coming from.
So to register everything I use my brother's computer and it worked fine.
Now, I can't sync my iPod.
Everytime I plug it in, my computer just beeps, indicating that a software has been detected and it just beeps again undetecting itself.
So I thought maybe it's my computer's problem.
HOWEVER, when I plug my old iPod in, it syncs, detects, downloads with NO PROBLEM.
So I thought maybe it's the iPod that has something wrong with it.
I tried it on both my dad's and my brother's computer they had NO PROBLEM.
I'm currently using Windows Vista, With Service pack 2.
My iPod touch is the new one that came out with the camera on it.
    Please help.

    I FIGURED IT OUT.
    It's working now.
Sorry for the triple post but I really am not sure how to edit my last post.
Other than that, I followed the instructions here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
and tried to update my driver
However, it wouldn't work properly and they keep saying that it doesn't work with my 32-bit system.
So I browsed around some more and found this..
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2231186
    The solution is here.
I followed the exact instruction and voila!
    Everything is now working normally.
Thanks for everyone who tried to help

    FIXED!!!
apple does not properly install drivers into C:\windows\system32...
so, you must unzip the itunes install.exe, extract apple mobile device support.msi
download a program lessMSIerables, this extracts files from .msi install files
extract everything from apple mobile device support.msi
NOW - use the above guide to update drivers, then instead of looking in the windows folder, simply tell the driver install to look in the folder where you extracted the .msi
    everything solved
take a crack at it, its not as hard as it sounds

  • Mac won't detect camera.

I accidently asked about this in the iphone section. My bad. I skimmed through the site and decided to ask here. I'm new to the site so bare with me. I'm sure there are dozens of threads on this site asking things like this but I'll ask anyways. My Mac will not detect my Sony Handycam. It is a Sony DCR-HC28. I have it connected to a Firewire USB chord into my Mac. My Mac is version 10.5.8. I opened iMovie and when I click the camera icon the only option it gives me is for the built in iSight. No option for the camera. I googled and tried a few suggestions but to no luck. I checked System Profiler and found nothing. Charged my camera and rebooted my computer. Got nothing. Unplugged and replugged. Nothing. Any tips??? Is it possible because my Firewire connects through the USB port rather than the Firewire port that it won't work??? I could sure use the help.

Here's a pic of the kinda chord I'm using. It's a Firewire that plugs into USB. If you look closely you can see the USB symbol on the plug.

  • Computer won't detect iphones

Why won't my computer detect iphones? I know for a fact that it isn't the cables OR the the USB ports, so don't even try with that. I have tried all the ports and I know my cable works, I have it plugged into a wall right now. I have tried with my own iphone, and two of my friends tried as well. My computer just will not detect them.
