Configurable Material Problem

Hi to All,
I've the following problem:
during the material creation (via /SAPMP/BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA) I cannot ale to add Configurable Material (MRP3 view in MM02 Transaction).
I Use the FM BAPI_OBJCL_CREATE to create new classifications.
How can I create a configurable material during the material creation proocess?
Note: the fields that should be updated are MARC-STDPD (equal to configurable material) and MARA-KZKFG (equal to X).

Problem creating a sales order for configurable material in SAP ECC

I have a Variant Configurable material named X.
The structure of this VC material is
Material X has charatcertics CHARCTERISTIC1 and CHARCTERISTIC2.
CHARCTERISTIC1 has values VALUE1
CHARCTERISTIC2 has values VALUE2
I created a sales order manually from VA01 using configurable material and read the values of all configuration tables to be filled from BAPISDORDER_GETDETAILEDLIST. With the help of this data i got an idea how to fill the tables of BAPI BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2. But still i am able to create a sales order but the configuration data that i give is not getting populated in the sales order.
Where am i missing. please some body suggest. I am unable to debug and searched the forums
for this information but dint find solution for my problem. some body please tell me where am i missing?
Any help would be highly appreciated

Even after maintaining the item category MTAC(Mills Make to order config at mat level), the configurable material is not getting replaced in the sales order (va02). It is just showing material variant exists for the configurable material.
The setting in item category for configuration is.
Config. Strategy 01(Sales Order Strategy (TAC, TAM))
Mat. Variant Action 4 (Replace configurable material (Append and change))
ATP material variant 2 (Do not substitute if not completely available)
Structure scope D (Configuration, poss. with BOM explosion)
I have maintained the stock for material variant as well to take care of ATP material varinat setting shown above.
Please suggest if missing something.

Problem while creating PO from SO for a Variant configurable material

Hi
i am facing a problem when i am creating a Purchse order from a Sales order.
the material is a variant configurable material and we are creating a Sales order in Future date say in june.
For one of the materials in the SO the configuration is different today and the configuration is different in June.
Today the BOM contains different materials and in june there is a different bom for the material.
and according to my understanding the BOM gets exploded on the basis on the delivery date in SO.
here on the basis of the config which is valid in june materials are getting picked and that is correct.
when i try to creat a PO out of that SO i could see that the BOM gets exploded and correct materials are picked but i get the error message that inforecord for one of the componentes is not there.
but that component is not getting selected in the config..and it is not there in BOM in june.
It is there in the BOM today but not in JUNE.
I dont understand why the system is refering to that componeent and throwing this error
please help

You may try creating two BOMs -- one speicfic to the date of order.

Issue in consumption of forecast for configurable material

Hi,
we have a issue in consumption of forecast by sales order for a configurable material.
Please find the below details for the settings maintained and the steps followed.
Please let me know how we can overcome this issue.
settings in R/3
1. Class and characterisitcs are created in R/3
2. standard material was created and class assigned
3. planning strategy used is 56
4. material, class, characteristics,ATP check, ATP customizing , sales order were integrated to APO
Settings in APO
1. CBF table, CBF profile, Consumption group were created in APO
2. Consumption group is attached to the product master
following steps were followed.
1. Forecast was created in DP for a certain characterstics ansd relaesed to SNP/PPDS
2. forcast is visible in product view
3. sales order was created in R/3
4. slaes order is visible in APO but it is not consuming the foreacast for the same set of characteristics.
Please let me know how we can overcome this..are we missing any customization ...?

thanks for your response.
The forecast consumption problem was solved after correcting the entries in requirement strategy.
have one more query.
when the sales order for a configurable material is transferred from R/3 to APO, we should be able to see the values under "descriptive characteristics tab" in APO product view.(when we click on the green triangle representing the configuration).
However, we could see the values under "descriptive characteristics tab" for some of the characterisitcs and not for other characteristics.
we tried comparing the characteristics but could not figure out the reason.
any pointers / clues to come over this issue would be helpful.

Configurable material - Error converting plan order to production order CO6

While I am coverting planned order to production order with configurable material, I am getting the follwoing error:
You cannot make an assignment to make-to-order stock
Message no. CO684
As read in previous forum messages I am check settlement profile assigned for new order type (ZSD01) with standard sett profile (SD1) at OKO7 and set "Valid receivers" with value "1" in Order, Material, Profit.segment, Sales order and Order item.
Configurable material have item category group "0002", MRP type "PD", Lot size "EX", Strategy group "25" and "Individual requirements".
Sales order with configurable materiale have item category "TAC".
Where is the problem?

Sales order for a configurable material

Hi all,
While creating a sales order for a configurable material i'm encountering an incompletion log saying enter gross weight & net weight. Even after i enter some value in the respective fields, i'm still thrown with the same incompletion & i'm unable to complete the order. In the material i find that the gross weight, netweight, volume are maintained as "zero". How do i resolve the problem??should the material master be changed??

hi,
If ur not having access to change teh master data in client system, Then u have to feed data manually in the sale order
VA02/VA01->go to item details->in shipping view u can feed the details.
1.But in ur earlier posting u told even after filling the details, the system pops up the message.Revert waht is error r u getting.
2. But is advisable to change in material master since each time while creating sale order u can't feed the input

Regarding Validation on Charactersticites of given Configurable Material.

Hi All,
I am working on BDC in whcih I am getting the charactersticites of the configurable materials in Flat File. Now the Problem I am facing is that when a particular characterstic is not associated with that configurable material the program is not updating any of the charactersticites associated with that configurable material.
How can we check the validity of the given charactersticites for that configurable material ? Or is there any other logic how I can update the charactersticites for that configurable material.

Writing vals in characteristic of $PARENT or $ROOT of configurable material

Hi,
I'm trying to write some values on a characteristic of the $PARENT and $ROOT elements located in the tree of the BOM for a configurable material.
But, if i try to define something like this in a procedure dependency :
$ROOT.Total_price = $SELF.Price
i get an error saying: "Syntax error in simple action/procedure".
On the other hand, if i write this other code:
$SELF.Price = $ROOT.Price
it works OK.
So, it seems that it not possible to write values on the characteristics of $PARENT or $ROOT directly in a dependency.
Can someone give any idea to write vals in a characteristic of the $ROOT or the $PARENT inside a dependency, please?

CS-No configurable material can be assigned to the order

Hi,
Can someone please assist me with the following problem? I am creating a Refurbishment Order in Customer Service using an Equipment created by an action in VMS. The material maintained in the Equipment is a configuration material and I get an error "No configurable material can be assigned to the order" when I use this equipment to create the order.

Dear Tiaan,
We have exactly the same issue. Apparently SAP has blocked this posibility. The SAP solution doens't support configurable materials on Service Orders goes for 4.6, 4.7 and 6.0. To my understanding this is a very big miss in the SAP solution. I hope that we by listing it here can inform SAP that it makes no business sence not to be able to provide service on configurables materials. We will most likely go for a modification in the source, since SAP doesn't support this.

Configurable material and project material cost

Dear all,
could you help me on the following question?
we need to calculate the configurable material cost in the projcet.
the costing varaint is to get the info record of the materials.
but now the problem is when i use cn33 to assign the materials to the activity, the planned cost is only the material cost shown in the projcet. we cannot get cost of the bottom materials.
how can i solve this problem, to get the planned cost,just as what we can get in the sales order (VA01)cost planning?

Configured material BOM table details requried for component list

Hi PLM Experts,
      As per the client requirement, we need to activate one sales condition type based on Super BOM components list. To define a logic for the above requirement, to list out the component we checked in STPO Table and in this table its appearing only the phantham materials not the real BOM of the component is appearing.
    So can you please suggest the table name where i can find the Bill Of Material of my Finished Product (Configured material) in the Table level.

But the problem still persist. The tables you have listed will suits for regular BOM compoents list. But we want to know the Table / procedure details in case of Configured material BOM details. Because for configured materials the BOM will be determined during sales order (Planned order) only.
    This BOM of configured material won't get stored in the table you have listed. As per our requirement we are looking for table details where we can list out the components list to perform the additional charges in the sales order based on BOM.

Routing Operation item field update in configurable material

Hi All
Material is a configurable material ,which is having a selection options in a sales order and based on the selection options there is characteristics BOM quantity gets updated based on the formulae.
If you go to routing and double click on the operation to see the details , you will see the unit of measure conversion with the header and Operation fields. I want BOM quantity should get updated in the operation field (UMREN).
I was using the Reference characteristics with PLPOD table and UMREN field to update the value in the UMREN field. And i created a procedure with a logic and is assigned to configuration profile and the Routing operation.
Process is MTO process, Production order is generated when the sales order is created. i checked in production order after creating a sales order, UMREN field is not updated and dont know what where i am doing mistake and i also checked in the Routing Master Data there also its not updating.
Above mentioned is not an requirement but to calculate the costs accurately, we have to approach this way.
Please suggest.

this problem is solved...its was a simple thing...go to extra in operation tab of routing, then go to references and there is an option of unlock....
and bingo...the problem is solved.

MTS Production with Configurable Material

Hi Experts,
I am working on IS Mill solution. we also have the configurable material. Normally the client's business is MTO. But in some cases they want to use Make To Stock also. But the problem is for make to stock with configurable material is not possible.
As it is possible if they have APO (IS-Mill functionality). But here we are using ECC-MRP.
Can anybody suggest some SAP note for this??

I am working at a Danish company named Vestas Wind Systems and we want also to start up doing make-to-stock using configurable material and would like to avoid a very high number of material variants.
We are already using APO in our company (SNP) and therefore I believe it should be a possibility.
Is this tied together with characteristic based planning in APO?? I have heard that this characteristic based planning only is possible on one level, is that also your experience??
I would really like to get my hands on some documentation on how to use SAP ECC and APO to handle make-to-stock of configurable materials, so if you can provide me with such documentation, it would be highly appreciated. It seems like you have some experience in this area.

Creation of Sale Order for configurable material with availability check.

We have a scenario in which the material is configurable. The configurable material (X) has few variants (Ex: X1, X2, X3, X4, X5). While booking the sale order, we use the material number (X).
Further, the material planning is done for the variants X1, X2, X3, X4, X5. The standard variants are planned for production in advance.
1.     While booking the sale order, we want the availability check of the stock (type matching to happen). What needs to be done in configuration?
2.     While booking the sale order, there is a possibility that the configuration selected will not match with any of the standard variants due to some additional requirements of the optional features, in such cases how to link the standard variants to the sale order & create requirement for additional requirements.

           1.Create material master for configurable material and variants in mm01.
           2.Maintain BOM for the configurable material in CS01
           3. Configur the variant configuration steps
              a. Create charecteristics T.code CT04
              b. Create values and assign classes
              c. assign the values to charecteristics
              d . Maitain dependence T.code CU01
              e.create configuration profile t.code CU41
              f.stimulate the configuration profile.
4. Do the availability check configuration through this path
IMG --> Sales and distribution > Basic functions ,> Availabilty check and Transfer of requirements.
5. Maintain the Availbility check field and MRP views in the material masters other wise you sit with PP people and do that

Error message while creating configurable material for variant configuration.

Dear All,
I want to create configurable material for the purpose of variant configuration. When trying to create configurable material using mm 01 or mm k1, it is displaying an error message that internal number assignment is not possible for the material type configurable materials as well in using external number also. Can anyone specify the steps to be done in creating the configurable material. Thank you all.

If you want to set these material type to another group (Which has a internal number and external number range), then you can do it.
In MMNR, Click on the Edit Group.
Then select the material type and click select element.
Then mark a tick option in another group and then press Element/Group.
Then you can see the material type will come under this group.
Now save your entry, and create a material with this material type.
