Configuration snmp Solaris 9 and 10

I installed netsnmp in Solaris 9 x86, the configuration archive is very
vacant has few commentaries and almost no configuration, alguem can
give one to me help of as to use the command snmpwalk in the Solaris?
Another doubt is if I can substitute the archive of configuration of
the net-SNMP of the solaris for one of linux? the net-SNMP in linux
allows to use an addressing of arvore MIB pra execution of scripts, in
the solaris is possible?

In snmpd.conf file add these entries.
rocommunity public
syslocation "System administrators office"
syscontact "System administrator"
sysservices 72
And then start snmpd .Then to do a snmpwalk juz use
~#snmpwalk -c public -v 1 localhost
Assuming that you have compile and configure with SNMP v1 support

How can snmp v1 and v2 be disabled on solaris 10 update 3?
We are only interested in keeping the v3 enabled.

So, it may be better to create links in $APP_HOME/bin/java that point to the binaries in /usr/jdk/version-you-want-to-use/bin/sparcv9 rather than copying binaries.
To see current java links: (I edited all non-java-related links out of listing)

  • Group Policy for configuring SNMP service

    HI,
I want to configure SNMP service on HP Physical server for communicating with HP SIM server through GPO as need to congifure it on 100 servers.
Though I have configure a policy but its not working.
When I configured manually on HP Physical server its working fine but when I tried to implement through GPO, SNMP stops responding to SNMP requests.
    I need a working GPO.
    -- Sandeep Gupta

    Hi Sandeep Gupta,
Based on my understanding, there were something wrong when you configured the SNMP service via GPO. As Martin said, please provide us the policy you configured to get more help. In addition, please also tell us your OS information.
I would like to introduce you some knowledge on SNMP settings:
Based on my experience and research, the
SNMP settings (including permissions) are stored in the following registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP
Therefore, we can configure a sample computer and then propagate the registry settings to other computers via scripts. Note that, the default ADM file can only
be used to configure "Read only" settings.

Hi Rafik, here is a basic snmp v1/v2 configuration
    snmp-server server
snmp-server community test1234 rw view DefaultSuper
This is basically wide open to anyone who knows the password. This should be enough to get you started then you can tweak additional options as you go. Give this a test, see if you can do what you're trying to do then modify this sample to work for your security needs.

  • How to configure snmp on loopback interface, on vrf TEST, in ASR 9000 series

    Hi there!
How to configure snmp v2, with community string, for ASR 9000 series, in interface loopback 1, that has vrf TEST
    Regards!

oh that is somewhat vague, but let me try...
in order to enable snmp access to an interface in a vrf you need to enable MPP (management plane protection) in that vrf.
    Something like this:
    control-plane
     management-plane
      inband
       interface Loopback100
        allow all
if you have this and it doesn't work, a config snippet and some debugs (like debug snmp packet) will help to define what to do next.

  • How to configure snmp host in IPM?

Hi!!! I have CiscoWorks 2000 Rwan with IPM. I installed and configure IPM to send snmp traps when the treshold is excedeed. I can see on the graph that it is exceeded but I can not verify that it sending snmp traps.Where to view these traps and how to configure snmp reciver host?
Can I use CW2k syslog analyzer automated action to generate mail when get this trap?
    THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!
    Regards
    Enes

    Hi,
As you've discovered, IPM can help configure
    these traps:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/ipmcw2k/cipm25/ug/ipmfaq.htm#62205
But, you'll need to specify a dedicated NMS
server to receive these traps. The following
documentation should prove to be useful:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094aa5.shtml
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094a05.shtml
You can use the appropriate "debug" command on
the router to confirm that traps are, in fact,
    being sent.
The traps themselves are defined in the
    CISCO-RTTMON-MIB.my and cannot interact
with the CW2000 syslog analyzer automated
    action.
    Thanks,
    Roger

    Hello Marek,
I suppose you are not planning to do any kinds of advanced config using several VLANs and multiple SSIDs so let's just make your configuration simple and working.
In short, you need to remove all references to VLAN 1 and to any subinterfaces possibly related to the VLAN 1. This means in particular (follow these steps in sequence):
    Remove the Dot11Radio0.1 subinterface entirely
In the Dot11Radio0 section, remove the encryption vlan 1 mode ciphers tkip command
In the dot11 ssid ciscowifi section, remove the vlan 1 command
After performing these steps, make sure that the ssid ciscowifi and encryption mode commands are still present in the Dot11Radio0 configuration, and if not, reenter them.
    Best regards,
    Peter

This makes no sense.  You don't configure a listener nor a tnsnames.ora "in a database".   I hope this is just a language issue and not reflective of a fundamental misunderstanding of how tns works.

1.1.98.7 is the loopback ip on my network. To test the snmp traps, i enabled debug snmp packets and shutdown loopback interface (1.1.98.7)
I don't see any snmp message in debug output ..
am i missing something or it is not possible to get traps directly from ip sla .. do i need EEM for this?

sorry, it actually worked .. i just gave a restart to ip sla and it worked.
looks like router was already in threshold stage when i was activating reaction-config ..
but i am still confused which command is actualluy generating these traps since i have taken out some of the snmp config out and i stil get traps ..
below is the oputput of traps which i get when i restart ip sla .

  • Configuring SNMP Traps UCS 6.1.3

Hi, I have some confusion on configuring SNMP and Trap notifications to a network monitoring box we have. When I enter Unified Serviceability and go to SNMP Notification Destination Configuration and try to set up the trap notification, it asks for a community name and does not pick up the one I have already configured called public. If I then create a new community name from that screen called public it says it has created it on nodes that have not had it configured before, this sounds right but it still does not show up in the drop list for me to pick to finish the configuration of the trap.
I am not sure if it is working or not. Can someone help me and maybe show me a way to send it a test trap to verify it is working?
    Thanks

Okay I found where the community field will not show up unless it is set to minimum notify privileges. I did that and it appears fine now.
Does anyone know how to send it a sample trap to make sure it works?

  • Configuring SNMP Alerts

Does anyone have any experience with configuring SNMP alerts on C-Series appliances?  I'm interested in receiving alerts when there's a certain amount of emails in the workqueue.  Is this possible?
We experienced an issue the other day where we received an exorbitant amount of email at one time from one specific sender and the workqueue was backed up.  It would have been nice to receive alerts on this so we could more effectively eliminate the issue.  If anyone has another suggestion to receiving notification through SNMP alerts on a high amount of messages in the workqueue please let me know.  I'm open to other ideas.  I just thought this might be the most effective way.
    Thanks!
    Mike

Thanks Viquar, maybe you can help me with the issue that I'm dealing with.
We have roughly 4000 internal SMTP servers that send e-mail to the internet via our IronPort cluster.  These IPs are everything from USB temperature gauges to an Exchange org. with 20K mailboxes.   Every once in a while something goes haywire and a lot of e-mail gets generated internally.  Either a virus generating a lot of e-mail, an application getting stuck in a loop, or a user configuring an Outlook Rule to send all mail to an external address that is being bounced back to them.
What I'm looking for is some kind of alert when e-mail volume or maybe e-mail rate goes through the roof.
One of the things that I've been researching is implementing rate limiting on outbound e-mail by IP address.  The problem is that all of these 4,000 internal SMTP servers are allowed access due to a 10.* entry in our HAT today.  So to get rate limiting going I would have to identify all of those servers and then determine the rate that would be good for each of them that would allow normal traffic but stop at the right point when an issue is occurring.  Due to the work that would take I was hoping for something along the lines of an alert when overall mail rate on the IronPort cluster goes higher than X, not knowing what X is yet...   Probably configure it something high and then slowly change it to a lower setting until I started getting alerts.
    Anything like that exist?

  • Configure SNMP for send trap in OEM 11g

    Hi,
We have OEM 11g in our environment. We have to configure SNMP for send trap to third party application in OEM.
Our platform is Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.4 . We have installes SNMP in Platform . As mention in document (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/em.111/e14091/chap2.htm#CHDFDJJI) we configure MASTER.configer file. Then we started the SNMP agent by root user through command ./start_peer -a.
We configure SNMP rule in OEM and then assigned this rules to method.
But we are not able to send traps to third party application(IT360).
I am not able to integrate OEM 11g with IT360.
please suggest me, where i am going wrong in this configration? or i have to do some more configration?
    Thanks in advance
    Vikash

The SNMP reference manual has been removed from the 10g and 11g doc set.
You could consult the manual in the 9i doc set and check whether the files for your unmentioned platform still get delivered.
